They definitely give a lot of fruits but I wanted an açaí bowl and not just a fruit bowl. For an açaí bowl there was not enough açaí. Looked like a thin layer. I feel like I paid for bowls of fruit. We got two rainbow bowls, which contained strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, kiwi, banana, granola, and acai. It sounds like the rainbow bowl would be a pretty loaded bowl, but it was basically JUST fruit. I kept digging into my bowl for the acai and my spoon would come up practically empty. It seemed as though I had purchased bowls of fruit with a dash of acai. To top it off, you can add more toppings to your order but at an additional cost. Just to add honey was an additional $2.50. Prices were already pretty high in my opinion, so the cost adds up quickly if you add anything extra. There was only one employee working at the time that I was there and she was very friendly, which is why I'm ultimately giving 3 stars. I wouldn't come here again. read more

In the words of my husband "no muy rico". 2 kids running the place, didn't really know what they were doing. The girl at the register did not know what ingredients were in the smoothies, we gave her the benefit of the doubt since they are new to their menu. My husband ordered a Tropical Island smoothie and I a blended Strawberry Raspberry Lemonade. There was only 2 girls waiting for food in front of us. There were 5 tickets in the window. We then watched the one in charge make 4 açaí bowls and they were so dry and crumbly. Something we didn't think was possible. The girls received their orders and were dissatisfied with their drinks. I over heard they ordered regular strawberry lemonades but received blended ones. They didn't say anything and just left. I saw her make my lemonade and it was just Costco lemonade blended with strawberries. I was really disappointed in this. Being a "healthy" açaí bowl place, I wasn't expecting premade sugary lemonade. Making my husband's smoothie they said they ran out of coconut water and offer apple juice instead. My husband declined and said to add regular water. She began pouring in the apple juice and he had to stop her and repeat himself. We received our order about 15 mins later, which we thought was a bit long for a smoothie and a lemonade. They were okay. They weren't too pricey so we weren't too upset but can't say we'd be back. read more

First time trying these guys out and trying an acai bowl this location was closest to me. I got the rainbowl bowl their most popular and added nutella which was an additional $2. My total was $14 for a small size which is a step up from the mini. The fruit was super fresh, I loved the crunch of the granola in there, and of course the nutella who doesn't like that. Also, definitely learned what fruit I would leave out next time. I think the size for the price was pretty big definitely could be a meal in itself. Would probably get a mini next time unless I was super hungry. Especially with it being kind of pricey, but with the fruit being fresh didn't necessarily think it would be cheap. The service was good but man was my Acai bowl bad. I eat a lot of Acai bowls, it's kind weird how much I love them. However, they charged me almost $20 for a small bowl. Extra $2.50 for the smallest squirt of almond butter. The Acai they use is the same one that can be found in a Publix or Walmart frozen section at $5 for 6 packs. The bowl was tiny, flavorless, not very fresh, and the acai was just ice. If it was $8 I wouldn't complain as much but you're charging 5 star pricing for a 1 star bowl. Please either lower your prices or up your quality. There's a shortage of good acai places in Charlotte. read more

I visited this fairly new joint after dinner one Saturday night with two others, in search of a quick dessert. After being lukewarmly greeted by two young people behind the counter, we perused the menu overhead to discover that (Gulp!) most prices ranged from $9.50 to $13 (double Gulp!) Upon recovering from our shock we decided to share a small Berry Fruity for $11. It seemed to be very light on the Acai but was very tasty and refreshing. It was topped with freshly sliced bananas, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and granola but $11?! I suppose what I might be missing is that instead of a dessert, their intent may be for this to be an actual meal, particularly breakfast. This is a new store front. They used to be in a truck, but just moved inside this store. It is a simple concept and seems to be staffed by young gals. Everything is in a bowl. There are no smoothies. Fresh fruit over frozen açaí. You can choose your bowl type. They come with different fruits and/or peanut butter And they put granola on top. Expect to pay around $7.00 for a small bowl. Decided to check this place out because I was in the area. I got the rainbow bowl, which has granola and LOTS Of fruits like bananas, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, and raspberries. I was honestly disappointed about my açaí bowl because there was barely any açaí purée in my bowl but it was topped with WAY too many fruits that it was overflowing. There was about 10% of açaí purée and the rest of fruit. I was disappointed because the purée is supposed to be the main thing in your bowl, but in this case, it was the fruits. I felt that the açaí bowl was overpriced for the amount of purée they give you, so I don't think it's worth it. The staff was nice but the wait time was over 10 minutes. I'm glad I gave this place a try but I don't think I will be returning. read more

This place always makes me feel great and full to boot. If you need a little more than the rainbow bowl, try the one with Nutella and almond butter. You are also free to make as many substitutions as you'd like as well so you are sure to get what you'd like. Though, I must say it's hard for me to get anything other than the rainbow bowl. I did see on Instagram that they have a new orange juice machine that I'm rather excited to try, and leave me to question if they continue the juicing/smoothie route. I will also highly suggest this place as a dessert spot rather than filling up on ice cream and the like. This tastes better than most and helps me stay on track! Also, although the price points seem high, have you seen the cost of other Acai bowls? These are far superior and larger so above and beyond, they are worth it. read more

The staff is entertained on their phones.. or talking to each other and won't acknowledge you until they are done talking. But today I tried to place a pick up order and called the location. I literally called 3x in a row and got hung up on. I highly doubt that was a phone issue. Glad more fruit places are starting to open up. I love Rico's Acai bowls. The rainbow bowl specifically. I probably spend way too much money here compared to what I make, but I've been obsessed ever since I tried it in Plaza Midwood (Pecan Ave). I also LOVE the 7th street market location & the one at SouthPark mall. I moved to Matthews about a year ago and have made the drive to this location since it is now closer. This location has disappointed me literally every time! They barely put any granola in their bowls. I mix my bowl up completely before I eat it (it doesn't look as pretty, but getting all the flavors at once is amazing!) and when I do you can barely tell there is any granola at all. Even looking at the bowl when you first get it you can tell they barely put any granola in it. At all of the other locations, this is not the case! What's even weirder is I also pay extra for Nutella, which I would think is more expensive for the business than granola, but they load the bowl up with it. You can barely taste anything else in there. This is also not the case at any other location. I tried nicely mentioning something (I am a scared complainer) but either it was just by chance or he didn't like the fact that I complained and it was made with even less granola and even more Nutella! It makes me extremely bummed because I love these bowls so much and this is the closest location to me. I will be making the drive to the SouthPark mall or literally any other location from now on though. I would highly suggest you do the same! They are incredibly scrumptious and I could eat them all day everyday if I could. They are great for a snack. And it's a great treat to cool you down after a long day of work.
