I ordered from them Tuesday of this week never had a problem with delivery. But this day my food never arrived ordered at 11:10 by 1:00 I canceled. The delivery person said he didn't feel safe delivering to my work . Never had a problem any way canceled and the person on the phone said my money would be back on my card. So today I called about my refund and Nicole who answered said that she would see if the manager can find my order. I'm so over Chicago restaurants . I used to have Ricobene's for lunch almost once per week, during the work week. My favorite was and always has been the egg plant Parmesan sandwich. That's also my all time Italian dish favorite. And This is one of their best items. Surprisingly, they make an even more famous, breaded steak sandwich. Which may make you think of country fried steak but this isn't served with gravy, it's served with marinara. You won't find this sandwich elsewhere, it's very unique and tasty. But, I still think the eggplant Parmesan is much more satisfying - but that's just me. And don't get me wrong, I'm a carnivore so that just goes to show how off the charts the eggplant parm sandwich really is. FYI, the provolone cheese is extra, the sweet peppers are extra and the hot peppers are extra. Why not just charge us more and let it all be part of the deal?? We then can have it any way we want it. Ricobene's is known for their breaded steak sandwich. It is good, but I decided to try something else on the menu. I got the eggplant parmigian sandwich, and my friend got three slices of pizza. Ricobene's does eggplant right, it was cheesy and well sauced. Like the infamous breaded steak sandwich, this is not a neat sandwich; you will need napkins- lots of them. I like thin and crispy pizza but my friend found the thicker crust just right for him. Counter service was fast ND efficient when you know where to go. I'm still a little torn on Ricobene's.. it's a Chicago staple and an iconic dish that has a loyal following. At the same time, I've never eaten anything like what they offer anywhere else. A breaded steak sandwich!? I mean... don't get me wrong, it's completely enjoyable, but why haven't I seen this before? Do I add mozzarella and hot peppers? YES! It's honestly pretty good. If you like Chicken Parm, Pizza, or Italian food, Ricobene's is probably right up your alley. Went with a friend on a Saturday and it was pretty busy but service was still fast. They have two size options for the breaded steak sandwich and I got the smallest size and it was still HUGE! it was the size of my head lol. Their pizza was really good I loved the crust on it. Overall seems like a great place to hang out with friends or to bring your family to. The mango italian ice was the perfect end to my meal. Overall just okay deep dish style pizza. The place has a very old school vibe, which is great. You order at the front counter, and deep dish pizza will take about 45 minutes to make, which is pretty standard. Never had a better reason to come here except for a Fatherless Father's Day. My dad would often rave about this place but never took us here. Sadly my dad passed away 3 years ago and today I chose to come here to do something in his memory, eat a beaded steak sandwich. On the way in we saw one man leaving with no less than 5 pizzas. Guess we have another reason to return..as they sell slices and whole pies too. It was a great experience, busy for Father's Day, but every employee was wearing a mask and while masks are currently required, hopefully in the future this will become updated. After ordering 2 regular breaded steak sandwiches with mozzarella and giardiniera , fresh cut fries and a couple drinks we found a table and waited for our order number to be called. The old pictures on the wall here tell the history of this place, which started in 1946. It was nice to look at these while waiting for our # to be called. I inquired about a kid sized sandwich while we waited, but was informed the 6" regular sandwich was the smallest one they had and the 9" is the giant version. These are not the type of sandwiches to share...don't worry, you will be pleasantly surprised how much you will be able to eat. Leaving it in the wrapped I carefully picked it up for my first of several hot bites. Whoa, this was amazing, I can understand why my dad raved about it. I had 4 bites to go and called it. Wrapped it up and fingers crossed it will be just as delicious the day after. It was a delicious and memorable Father's Day. Glad I had my life partner Charley with me to have this experience. FYI... let's just say it's better than Portillo's! My boyfriend brought me here because this is his fav spot and I've never been. I could even decide what I wanted. But I looked around at the tables and people had Italian beef or a combo. I went decided the combo. It was cheesy, hot, spicy and more. Like super delicious. My ride home, I kept saying how stuffed I was. Lol. The service was fast. I think it took maybe 10 minutes to get my food but it was busy.
