I pass by this food truck every week on my way to my physical therapy appointment in uptown, and there are always people in line or waiting for their orders. It's located in the parking lot next to the Catholic Church across from the Duke Energy building. I decided I needed to see what these Acai bowls are all about. I ordered a small rainbow bowl ($10.28). I asked if they have a kid size bowl but they don't. Small and large are the only options. It took about 4 minutes for them to prepare my order. There are two people working in the food truck and it looks like they cut up all the fruit themselves. The presentation is nice, the fruit is very fresh (cut into small pieces, not big chunks) and the Acai at the bottom of the bowl is very cold and icy. There is also granola which adds some texture and a nice crunch. I did find a few blueberries that still have stems on them. This is a refreshing snack. I think I'll be back to try some of the other bowls. read more

Super fresh, flavorful and sweet. I got the ButterBro but substituted some things to get more of what I desired. The lady was very helpful and compromising to fit my taste. She omitted the almond butter and Nutella for my request in local honey, peanut butter, strawberries, and raspberries. I enjoyed this Acai bowl much better than that place that starts with an N. Better value and more food for the money for sure. Her coworker was also very nice and friendly as I was their last customer for the day. Nice location if you're following a gps. I love the 7th street market! I think it's so cute. The parking is validated for 90 minutes so it's convenient to go to. There are lots of restaurant choices and ricos is one. I wanted something healthy and different. I've actually never had an acai bowl so this was my first experience. I ordered the most popular bowl (rainbow) and It didn't disappoint! After taking my son and our out of town guest (His GodMother and GodBrother) to Discovery Place for some SpringBreak fun we drove down to the park across from the Knights stadium. We decided to walk over to this truck to get something to enjoy while sitting in the park on this sunny Monday (day after Easter) which the boys place and enjoy as well. The people on the truck were sooo friendly and gave us great insight and suggestions. We ended up with two Rainbow bowls and a bowl of strawberries only for the children. The flavor of this bowl was EVERYTHING. The fruit was sooo fresh and all the ingredients just worked together. I can't begin to explain what was included but it was a party in my mouth and a After-Party in my tummy. The price is the con for me Heck it cost nearly $30 for two fruit bowls and a bowl of strawberries. That's just crazy to me being from a Big City where we could get FRESH fruit bowls similar for less than half the price. I'd go again especially to have my hubby try and to introduce others as its a great truck but I will make them aware that it's pricey. This is a cute little food truck Acai bowl place located in a parking lot near The Green. I ordered the Acai Berry Bowl. Service was very friendly, always a plus! Upon receiving my bowl, It was beautiful to behold, loaded with gorgeous berries, actually the biggest blueberries I have ever seen. They were gigantic and flavor filled. The disappointing part was the ratio of Acai to the fruit and granola. There was a minuscule amount of Acai at the bottom, you could barely taste it. Wah Wah Wah.... I just went to the Rico's açaí in Cornelius and I'm beyond pissed. I got two bowls and the fruit was way too ripe. My son spit his out and said it was nasty. He is 3 and loves fruit. The recommendation was the multi fruit salad called the Rainbow. The owner is very helpful with the fruit or toppings that you could use for best taste. There is also a great area to sit with shade right behind the place. The fruit was awesome. It had strawberries, bananas, pineapples,berries, Acai and a sweet syrup mixture at the bottom. Mmmmhmmm... was in Uptown working out and had to stop by Rico's. I absolutely love their Fruit Bowls. I personally am not a fan of the acai puree, so I basically customize my own fruit bowl...same as the Rainbow Bowl minus the acai and I add extra granola for a more crunchier texture. This morning's employee was really nice and held a great conversation with me. The truck is always clean. The prices may seem high for some folks, but if you really like it, you won't mind treating yourself from time to time. Oh Duke Energy bought the lot they are located in and Ricos will be moving up the block near the Cigar Lounge. That may seem a little far for those who work at or near Wells Fargo and Duke Energy. I was even more excited to try it out. First, I love peanut butter on my acai bowls and loved that they put a good amount on there. I was satisfied! Cool concept! I love how this little food truck is parked on Tryon street, super convenient to all the hotels and office buildings. I got the basic acai bowl, which was just granola, acai and a sliced up banana. I wish there had been a little more acai in it- it was maybe 20% acai, 20% banana, and 60% granola. I saw someone order another bowl and it looked to be 50% fruit- nothing wrong with that, but just know what you're getting. Still a nice, healthy option in street food. I wish there was more acai and for the consistency to have been smoother (rather than so frozen). Rico's Acai is my breakfast savior. I travel to Charlotte often for business, and am always craving fresh fruit... like a fruit cup or anything.. which seems to be very hard to find for some reason. One day as I was walking to work, I noticed Rico's Acai truck situated in a parking lot. I told myself I'd try this for breakfast the next day. Breakfast the next day turned into breakfast everyday. Rico's is my go-to for breakfast and I haven't gotten tired of it yet. Obviously I wouldn't eat this every single day if I didn't have a breakfast allowance since it is absolutely on the pricey side. The delicious small Rainbow Bowl sets you back almost $11. $11 for breakfast everyday is a little bit over the top. However, I have seen people get this for dinner or a snack after their evening workouts. Either way, this stuff is the bomb! I always get the rainbow bowl. They've not had mangoes since I've been here - you either get a choice of mango or pineapple. The granola is crunchy and adds a nice texture to the rest of the bowl. The acai tastes fresh and isn't too sweet. The loads of fruit - all kinds! - in the Rainbow Bowl make me happy. The only downside is I haven't seen them wash their fruits. It looks like it comes straight out of the fridge in the same plastic container it came in originally..... which makes me a little ehhhh since I always wash my fruits. Aside from that, I love this place. Call ahead if you can, because at certain times it gets really busy and you end up having to wait. Staff here are super nice. You'll see me here often. read more

I love head chef Matthew William's story about graduating from Charlotte's own Johnson & Wales University... going home to Puerto Rico and bringing the Acai back to Charlotte. This tiny truck can be easy missed if you aren't paying attention. It sits in the lot next to St Peters Church and across from the Duke Energy Building. No frills here.. just walk up, order and there's a bit of a wait since the fruit and bowls are made fresh for you. Every tried making a delicious fruit bowl yourself and chopping... and chopping... these guys take on all the hard work, so that you can just enjoy the benefits. I believe they have a spot in the 7th Street Station Market now... but I love walking to this location, grabbing a bowl and sitting outside (there's a nice space with shade trees, tables, and chairs across the street in front of Duke and the Mint. It's a little hard to drive to, but I think if you drive to the lot and don't linger in the parking lot too long, you should be okay. read more

MY NEW OBSESSION! After scarfing down a sample at the Yelp's Get Fit event at the 7th Street Market, I decided to take a real look for myself the next day. It was freezing outside, but I knew the wait was worth it. I got a large Rainbow bowl with a little nutella and almond butter for $12.50, the small is $9, to split with the bf. The large is HUGE, I don't know how you could finish one by yourself. Of course, it was delicious. The granola is so good! Fruits are always fresh and the acai puree is slightly sweet. I think I like the rainbow bowl plain or with a tiny amount of almond butter though. Oh and my favorite part, you can purchase the acai berry puree packets for $3 a serving. Rico's is definitely one of my go to spots whenever I am craving an Acai bowl. The way they make it is definitely different than say Clean Juice or Jamba Juice...the Acai blended base is much grittier vs smoothie consistency, but still very tasty. I do wish they put more of the Acai base at the bottom as I find there are generally way more toppings. With that being said, the bowls are still very good and I like that they offer a small and large size. Be careful if you start customizing, because adding additional toppings can end up being very pricey! I always go with the Brazil/Classic bowl and add sliced strawberries and unsweetened coconut flakes! YUM. read more

This place was so good, we went two days in a row! Everything was freshly prepared and you can see them making it which is great. Many options to choose from, or you can customize your own! It is a bit expensive, but that is most açaí places. We arrive at 845 pm and even though they closed at 9, they were kind enough to still make our bowls. I got the brazil bowl and added peanut butter (so good!) and my boyfriend got their popular rainbow bowl which he enjoyed. The next night he ended up getting the brazil bowl and just adding the fruits he wanted. It is in a large parking lot but we did not pay for parking because we were there only a few minutes and were able to park right next to the food truck.
