1st day of Vacation and we're driving down from Cornelius NC to Marietta GA to drop some things off at my son's house and to spend some time with the Grandsons. While my wife is driving, I go online and search out lunch spots and I find Rico's. Looks interesting and different so we give it a tryl Very interesting. My wife thought the main door was the entrance to an antique shop. Not the case but a lot of things from the 60-s and 70"s. Busy but make for a great atmosphere. The lunch menu is very interesting and makes you wonder if they can deliver on these interesting combinations. Based on the very limited experience of one visit, they do a great job here. My wife found an Apricot, Ham and Brie of Grilled French Bread that she ordered along with Sweet Potato Fries. I had the Royal Rooster which is a Habanero Chicken Breast with Swiss Cheese on a Potato Roll along with a Hash Brown Casserole. Verdict was my wife want to go back for another Apricot, Ham and Brie. Loved the Sweet Potato Fries but felt the powder sugar was not needed. The Royal Rooster was great with just the right amount of heat. Hash Brown Casserole was good but not the right compliment to the Royal Rooster. Service was great. Server was there when we needed her, answered all of our questions and left us alone to enjoy our meal but did not ignore or abandon us either. Just the right amount of service. A bit off of the beaten path but only 10 minutes from the GA Mall. If you're traveling I-85 in GA and you come up on Exit 120, might be a nice diversion to explore read more

The food and service was great! Although this place looks like a hole in the wall restaurant, you cannot deny the crowd that were here this past Thursday. Thanks to the date, a crummy evening turned into a great one. Although the food was limited to mostly sandwiches and salads, the quality was divine. The filippino style eggrolls or nett's lumpia was delish. They were miniaturized eggrolls that was so good. The date had the chicken Cuban, and it was delish as we shared our sandwiches. It came with a side sauce that gave the chicken a bit more zest. The royal rooster that I had was seriously to die for. The fried habanero chicken breast was just the right amount of spiciness. Plus, the breast was very succulent and tender! The sandwiches came with giant potato slices that was super crunchy to munch on. Cons: Parking was limited to a cramp space directly in front of the restaurant. Another down side, they close at 8 PM Monday through Thursday and not even open on Mondays. read more

No less than 5 stars for Rico's! I'd been here before on several occasions and I have no clue why I've never posted a review. Other than the squirrely parking sitch (of which other reviews have mentioned), Rico's is a Buford gem. The food is outstanding and the service is prompt and friendly. Although my date's ribeye was more well-done than the rare he'd ordered, his special of the day was still delicious, but couldn't hold a candle to the amberjack, lentil, asparagus, lemon aioli special that I had. One of my favorite places in the area, Ricos has unique tasty food. I try to take everyone there that is visiting that I know will enjoy an eclectic menu. 5 of us went recently and a few had not been there before. As myself and another person were naming what was good on the menu I think we named practically everything! I also forgot they have specials of the day and they are fantastic as well - at least 3 of us thought so on this visit. They also have a decent fairly unusual bottled/canned beer menu. Not extensive but usually my beer snob self can find something I like. I never save room for dessert but that looks good also. The reviews on this place don't lie. read more

First time eating at Rico's and wasn't impressed. Food left something to be desired as follows: Meal was barely warm, not piping hot. Ordered NY strip special and requested meat be cooked medium, came to the table somewhere between rare and medium rare. Place has high ceilings and is very, very loud. On the positive side, au gratin potatoes were tasty, and portion sizes overall were adequate. Service was superb and André was on his AAA+++ game. Wait time for a table was only 35 min., which was excellent for a busy Friday night. Don't think we'll be back. read more

A hidden gem in downtown Buford. Over the past 7 years we've eaten here, I've brought business partners by on occasions, and fam too. It's consistently UH-mazing. The regular menu is small, but everything is delicious. The specials are the secret sauce. This restaurant just does it right. If you've ever just driven by and thought to yourself 'I need to try this place..' JUST DO IT. Lumpia app is a must (doesn't matter which filling). Any of the regular menu will do, but def pay attention to the specials. Desserts are not even a question. It's a must. House Sangria is a non-negotiable. Just went to Rico's with my wife today. Great place, had a nice vibe to it. The restaurant was spacious and decorated with photos from around the world. We had great time and the food was amazing. I had the habanero rooster sandwich with a side of fried green tomatoes and my wife had the mojo pork sandwich with the homemade potato chips. The food came out nice and hot and freshly prepared. Love, love, love Rico's World Kitchen. Each time I come is a new little adventure for my taste buds. There's usually a wait if you come for dinner but it's never too long of a wait. The staff is always, always lovely and friendly! The food here is amazing, I've never had a bad meal. My favorite on menu items are the Pork Lumpia, for an appetizer, and the Apricot Ham and Brie sandwich. It's delicious with a substantial amount of cheese and ham and the apricot is never overpowering. My go to now is the specials that Rico's offers. These are different each day. My favorite specials have been the Ground Chuck, Pork Belly, and Brisket Burger and the Lobster Dijonaise and Panko Crusted Trout. I've also heard the Surf and Turf specials are divine. My friend suggested we try this restaurant out for lunch. So glad we dined here as it was a yummy, hidden gem in Buford. Rico's has a small, private parking lot and unfortunately, I wasn't one of the lucky few who were able to obtain a spot. Good thing there were tons of spaces on the street. I even saw some patrons park across the street at the church. The hostess promptly greeted me as I walked into the cozy establishment. We waited about 15 minutes for tables to clear and got seated. Our server, Tola (?) was amazing. She was attentive, polite and friendly. An older gentleman (manager or owner?) visited our table to welcome us and made some small talk with my friend's son. I had the chicken lumpia as a starter and the Royal Rooster with hashbrown casserole as my main. Both were extremely tasty. I think if the lumpia was fried a bit less, it would have been perfect. What a unique venue. We were in town for a conference and once again yelp came through. We started with an appetizer of fried green tomatoes. Imagine if your grandmother made the best fried green tomatoes that are vivid in your memory as a child....,you would throw her's in the trash for these. Insanely good. I settled on the chicken Cuban as my entree with, you guessed it, more fried green tomatoes. As I'm sure my figure shows, I'm a cubano connoisseur. I can't resist them in my travels and this one didn't disappoint. The chicken was a great twist and was tender and cooked to perfection. Came by on a weekday afternoon and it was still pretty busy. It has a dark but trendy ambiance. We got the beef & pork lumpia ($5.50) because it looked good in photos. Unfortunately we were really disappointed with this dish. I've never had lumpia so I am just comparing it to egg rolls. The lumpia is really small - it is roughly the size of a pinky and doesn't have much flavor or taste to it. The sauce that comes with it is good. The sandwiches come with chips but you can sub it with a side for $3.50 ($1 off regular prices). We also had the shrimp po boy ($10), chicken Cuban ($8.75), mojo pork ($8.25), fried eggplant, and fried green tomatoes. The po boy was good. I like the big succulent shrimp inside the sandwich. The chicken cuban has a very smoky taste to it. Great for those that like this but personally I don't. The mojo pork is an open faced BBQ pork sandwich. The sides were good. There were 5 slices of fried eggplant and 3 large slices of fried green tomato. The batter is light and thin and was pretty good. Overall, the food is good but not worth a trek out to Buford unless you're already in the area. read more

I was really impressed by Ricos World Kitchen! I have had a hard time finding places that are just really good in the Gwinnett area but this place does not disappoint. I tried the shrimp po boy and the french bread used was so good along with perfectly fried shrimp. I also tried the fried green tomato salad and added the blackened chicken and let me tell you the tomatoes were great but the chicken had one of the best flavors on it I have had in a long time. I was so impressed with the main entree foods that I definitely had to try the desserts. The creme brulee with strawberries was very good and on par with top tier restaurants and the banana pudding cake was surprisingly not over the top sweet which was a pleasant surprise. The staff is very helpful in navigating the menu and the service was very good. I will definitely return when I am in the area! read more

The three were amazing. Another appetizer that is outstanding is that BBQ mussels, don't forget to order extra bread for these as the sauce is just AMAZING.
