The smell of chicharron was already filling the space up and that's what made us hungrier. The Mixed Ceviche includes fish, squid, octopus, & shrimp. Damn it all tasted so fresh. They squeezed tons of citrusy lemons & lime on this ceviche, making it absolutely delectable. It came with a side of corn, potato, corn nuts, sweet potato, & plantain chips. I'd come back for this tbh. My friends ordered the lomo salado which is basically a carne dish with fries, onions, & tomatoes that is served over rice. It was so delicious as well. This place was good at some point. Then it slowly turned into dry chicken that is clearly reheated and not even edible. Paid $80 for 2 chickens and it was so hard and dry I had to go out for tacos. I recommend caveman or western chicken before you even entertain the idea of this place. read more

RIKAS is this small Peruvian restaurant just on 3rd in Koreatown! If you are craving some lomo saltado or any Peruvian cuisine this is the place to go too. The very few times I've been there, and sat down with my family, it felt like I was eating at home, Lomo Saltado is always a must, I always leave a clean plate, I know a lot of people get the rotisserie chicken, and this is the only reason I don't give RIKAS a 5 star review. Yes sometimes in can be delicious and fresh, but sometimes it can be this dry chicken that has been clearly reheated and becomes hard to eat. Parking is small, Restaurant is small but service is fast I wouldn't recommend eating there cause it can get packed at certain times. If you don't mind picking up and eating it at home or in your car. Then I would recommend going that route. read more

Went for my first time. Its a busy area so do not rely on parking there. Its a very kitschy place. I ordered a Lomo Saltado to go and it was okay. It lacked a good sauce with the meat. It wasn't horrible but didn't stand out to me which hurts because this is the most popular peruvian dish. Service was okay. I ordered to go so didn't get much time. Overall didn't impress me. Perhaps I need to order a ceviche or something else! I would give it another shot however at this moment it lacks something that really shined. read more

I was upset that my typical chicken place happened to be closed on the day that I ordered from here, so I decided to check this place out. I was initially very excited to check them out because they have pretty good Yelp reviews. I ordered a whole chicken with some sides. Although the chicken wasn't bad, the sides and salsas were completely inedible. The salsa and salad dressing were salty beyond belief. The salad dressing tasted like full on curry/cumin with tons of salt. I do not understand the hype behind this place. Prices aren't even that reasonable either. I had been here once before to have the lomo saltado. I thought it was under seasoned and was missing some sort of sazon. Perhaps it was missing soy sauce, perhaps it was missing ginger, or some key ingredient to really send the dish over with flavor. Although I thought the meal was under seasoned, I appreciated that the carne was tender. I did love the soft bread and I loved that it was very inexpensive. This time, my coworker was craving Peruvian. She saw this place and asked to order here, for our lunch. I told I thought the lomo saltado was so-so (since she was craving lomo saltado). But then I said, sure, maybe I was a being picky and decided to give another chance. This time we ordered the ribs, the chicken chicharrones, and two lomo saltados. The chicken chicharrones were more like chicken bites. I was expecting literal deep fried chicken SKINS, but these had meat on them. The flavor was good but not what I expected and I was a little bummed out. The ribs had amazing, sticky, sweet flavor! They could have been a little more tender but i am not sure what the peruvian rib style is like. Nonetheless, the ribs were great and my coworker's favorite item. The lomo saltado again was missing some "love." My coworker even said that is wasa just ok and is missing flavor. Not only that, but the meat was tough this time. I appreciate that this small business is doing its thing! There were customers in the dining area that seemed happy and I am very glad they have such amazing reviews. Came to Rikas as I was in the area and the place I had planned on going to was closed (Red Cloak). We ordered the whole chicken, seafood fried rice, lomo saltado, and yucca fries. The food was decent but I personally think Mario's is better and more flavorful. The portion sizes were ok, but I noticed some people ordered the same dish but got way more food than we did. Parking can be difficult as the parking lot is tiny. Also - NO BATHROOMS!!! Decided to try out a Peruvian place not too far from home. The place itself is really small with limited seating so not a place for big groups. When we got in, there wasn't a table for the three of us but the staff put another small table for us to sit, and was pretty fast to get our order and set us up with our drinks. Finding street parking could be extremely hard, but you can sometimes find parking spots in the shopping center. The food is well seasoned and not super salty like other Peruvian restaurants I have tried. The shrimp and beef saltado is SOO good. Shrimp is cooked to perfection, and so is the beef. I am not much beef eater, but their beef is so good. Saltado consists of fries, onion, and tomatoes, stir-fried with the protein of your choice. Just moved to KTOWN & was looking for something good to eat... hit yelp and decided on Peruvian, Chose Rikas because of the Proximity & because of the menu. Upon arriving, the parking is a little tight - but I've been twice and havent had an issue finding a space yet. Most restaurants in this area have B grades on the window, but I was pleased to see that Rikas had an A grade. After having a seat and getting the menu, we choose the potato appetizer (fire) if you've never had it, but are a fan of deviled eggs, you will enjoy this dish. For the main course, we went with the Lomo Saltado - Mar Y Tiera (Shrimp and Steak) & The Pesto Noodles with flank Steak! (Not sure on the Peruvian dish name for this one, but both were A1). We got Cola Inka (Peruvian Yellow soda) & A couple cokes - A must with some fire food like this! Service was quick (both for pick up and for eating in) , if you eat there, they usually give you some delicious French bread and butter with your meal. (And are very generous with the Ahi - green sauce, which is another Must) Overall, I would recommend Rikas to all of my friends and family, giving them a heads up on the parking and on the fact if you're not fluent in Spanish , read the reviews and know what you want already. I used to be a loyal customer of the rotisserie chicken from Benny's but not anymore!!! Tried Rikas' chicken for the first time today and I'm a believer! First the chicken - it's super flavourful, moist and yummo! Then their incredible "aji" green sauce - like crack in a little cup. It's super creamy, spicy and goes perfectly with the chicken! You get 2 sides with your order and I went for their Peruvian Beans and white rice. The beans were awesome! Again, flavourful, creamy and delish! The white rice was where it went totally wrong for me. First of all it wasn't cooked all the way but the worst part is we found 3 hairs in it... Tried this place on the recommendation of my sister. We're Korean American and not Peruvians/Americans. I have been to Peru as a tourist, however. We both, however, are experienced cooks and have an above average palate (for most cuisines). This place was NOTICEABLY delicious. The Aji Verde was the bomb. Honestly, you could spread that stuff on ANYTHING and it would be delicious. Likewise, the management was kind enough to even throw in a few extra. I ordered the 1/2 roast chicken, which was tender, amazingly flavored, and large in portion. That with 2 sides (awesome beans and a surprisingly delicious salad with accompanying awesome sauce) for around 10 bucks. Can't beat that. I never had the Lomo Saltado outside of Peru. But Rikas was on point. Finally, rumor has it the management are not only kind to customers but also to the rest of the surrounding community (e.g., less fortunate). I haven't been to Mario's like another reviewer and YES, parking is tricky (but not impossible since they have meters on the main street, as well). No bathrooms might be an issue but we got our food to go (who is eating INSIDE a restaurant during OMICRON anyway?) Not sure why anyone would be that salty about this place.
