Wow, really delicious tortas and empanadas here. I'm more a fan of the torta, and my wife the empanada, but both tasted so fresh and delicious. The chicken torta was a good size and fill with juicy piece of chicken, fresh vegetables, and chimichurri between crusty bread. Everything about it was great. My wife got a couple empanadas, and they were flavorful with a flaky outside crust. We were both surprised how much enjoyed the food here! Stopped by here for lunch. Service was SUPER friendly and menu was very appetizing. We ordered 6 different empanadas. The wait was maybe 10 minutes - which I didn't complain thinking, they are baking masa - it should be about 20.. Well.. I was a bit disappointed. I really believe that the empanadas are being reheated. The filling in my meat one, deep in the center, was lukewarm. The tops of the elote one looked twice baked. Although the flavors were great, I would gladly wait 20+ minutes for fresh baked (vs reheated).. I know people are in a rush, but empanadas should not be rushed. :( read more

Was really hungry after climbing at Eldorado Canyon and I'm glad I found this place in Boulder. Got 4 different empanadas. Loved the mushroom (used fresh mushrooms and I think there are shiitakes! Met the girl at the front, she smiled while recommending the #2, #3, & #15. She said, "Get 1 for a snack, 2 got a meal and 3 if you're hungry." #2 Was a spicy version of the traditional Argentinian steak empenada. #3 (my favorite) had raisins, so I wouldn't have chosen it off the bat assuming erroneously that raisins probably don't belong in empenada's. Ground beef, caramelized onions, and a delicate flakey outer shell make this the one to beat... anywhere. #15 Whoever thought to put creamed corn in/on one of these things has an IQ over 139. Came here for a catch-up lunch with a friend and really enjoyed myself! There are so many options and of the 8 or so that we ordered, all of them had fantastic flavors. I found myself going "no, this is the best" every time I moved on to the next one! We only needed one cup of salsa that came with the sandwiches, but you can order more with a small charge. You can get that later though, so start with what you get and get more later if needed. Tables are in short supply, so if you plan to eat there, stake out a good one with one person and have the other one order. Tried this place on the advice of my wife and I learned something. Argentinians make a delicious empanada. The crust was light and delicious and the fillings were plentiful. I devoured the picante steak, Chicken chorizo, and the picante chicken empanadas. The size is deceiving I thought with the size that three would not get my enormous stomach full however these empanadas were up to the challenge. Stopped here on our last day in Boulder. The day prior my dad had mentioned he'd love to try them, but we were running out of time. So I grabbed some on our way to meet my parents in Denver before leaving back to California. They travel well - we had them in the car for about 45 mins from Boulder to Denver and we just ate them cold. They were delicious! I cant remember all the ones we tried, but it was combo of the chicken and beef ones. I even had them wrap a couple of them up to go so that my dad could take some to work the next morning (we had a late flight). They were good for breakfast the next day as well! I had the spicy steak and BBQ chicken empanadas- don't forget the CHIMICHURRI sauce. Not only is it authentic Argentinian food, but also had a great atmosphere. Their specialty? Empanadas! We tried the Carne Picante (spicy steak), Pollo Picante (spicy chicken), tradicional (steak) for $3.65 each, and Milanesa de Pollo sandwich $10.95. The empanadas here are different than an empanada Venezuela, the crust is more flaky with a puff pastry finish - think more like a pasty rather than an arepa. They are cooked in an open fire brick oven, in an open kitchen. Seat yourself indoor or on the many patio tables and high top counter outside with a view of the Flatirons. If you order 3 empanadas, you receive a sauce of your choosing. Otherwise, I believe it's a nominal fee for each. We chose the chimichurri sauce. Each of the empanads were filled with evenly balanced seasoned meat and assorted vegetables. Every bite felt rewarding as we sank in our chairs in satisfaction. The sandwich contained thin, lightly breaded chicken breast with lettuce and tomato. We chose to add grilled onions for a little differential to the sauce-less sandwich. The portion was enormous, more than enough for two people (we had leftovers), so I'd recommend ordering with your eyes not your stomach. read more

These are the best damn empanadas ever! I do not live in Boulder but luckily my husband has to travel there at least one a month and brings these home to me. They are always the best surprise dinner! My favorites are the ground beef spicy one and the mushroom one. The mushroom one is hands down the best thing. I even had some heated in the microwave and although not as crunchy, still amazing. Denver has options for empanadas but none compare to these so we never go to them anymore. I wish they would open a location in Centennial where I live so I could enjoy this more often. read more

Gotta admit something. I was super skeptical about finding an Argentinian Empanada place in the middle of Boulder, CO. Once you walk in, you'll realize how great this place truly is. Everything from their daily fresh-baked empanadas, to the friendly waitstaff, to their chocolate dessert or chimi churri sauce or salsa verde sauce or.... (get the point?) has been spot on fantastic. So fantastic, even, to come twice in two days. So fantastic that my colleague who recently returned from Argentina commented about it's authenticity. At $3 an empanada, it may seem pricey, but it's SO worth it. My personal favorite is the carne picante (spicy steak) because the filling is just so filled with goodness.Gaucho is also another must-try. I've tried a few of the chicken ones and I feel that they are a tad bit on the drier side, especially if you're going to start off eating the steak-based empanadas. I'd recommend 3 to get you satisfied, 4 if you want to be extremely full. Also, if you want to bring some home to heat up for later, you can request that they cook it 80% so when you heat it up for the remaining 20%, you'll be just as satisfied as if you had eaten it there.
