Location: Quite neighborhood tucked away in the middle of a busy city. Family friendly place to get a good eat. A mixture of around eight: two and four tops Food: We got Brussel Sprouts we were glazed in a garlic sauce and cooked to perfection. To finish our appetizer we got Rin's Beef which is sliced beef cooked for 20 seconds with a garlic and sesame glaze(would recommended to try!!!). Again bringing out all the flavor. For main dish we did family style entrée combo called Luang Pra Bang Salad Set. This included Lao's style papaya salad and my personal favorite Thai BBQ skewers with a sticky rice and a sauce to go with it. My wife's favorite was the Beef Khao Soi which is just like her homeland for her. As she finish all the whole bowl and she said so amazing. They serve with homemade chilli oil and squzing lime in to the Khao soi that perfect!. When you think you have had enough don't forget to try the Rin Thai dessert platter with thai original street food Fried banana, coconut ice cream, and mango sticky rice. We arrived and it was completely empty - possibly just a very slow day or the lunch rush was over? We tried 3 items and they were decent. The pad sieu with tofu was alright. SF Restaurant week is sometimes about the pop-ups and soft openings which are occurring around San Francisco. One soft opening in particular was here years ago and reappeared. It was always a hidden gem in Noe Valley on 24th street on Douglas a block up from Diamond street . Rin Thai use to have some good duck curry back in the days. Today the duck curry wasn't available so I decided to get the chicken curry . The true litmus test of a good Thai restaurant is trying their curry chicken. The curry chicken was aromatic and delicious. I then got the Mango sticky rice .The rice was tender and the mango was really juicy and ripe. SF Restaurant week ends tomorrow on Sunday April 13 but it is also the start of Thai New Year also known as the Songkran Festival.The same day of the next Full Moon known as the Pink Moon. Feels like a White Lotus Season 3 episode ( although I like The White Lotus Season 2 better). Today 8/-2/2025 I came here for the second time . First I came here like 5 years ago and I didn't have a good experience . I came here here again to try them out again . It was a bad decision. Unfortunately , my experience was a letdown. Here's a breakdown of what went wrong: - *Tuk Tuk ( 3 Layers of Happiness Drink) *: The presentation was nice, but the drink lacked flavor and didn't contain any alcohol. It didn't meet my expectations even half way . - *Fried Calamari*: The dish arrived on a broken plate, and the portion was extremely small. The calamari was dried out and tasteless. - *Chicken Pad Thai*: While the presentation was good, the portion was small, and the dish was mushy and soggy. As a classic Thai dish, I expected better. Considering the high price point ($50 for the meal), I was disappointed with the quality and portion sizes. The customer service was great, and the restaurant was clean, but that's not enough to redeem the food. Unless they revamp their menu and cooking techniques, I wouldn't recommend wasting your time and money. It was my second and last visit. Me and my family came across this hidden gem after spending times at the playground across the street. It was our first time here and loved everything. The ambience was cozy and nice, the menu gave us right amount of Thai dishes we have been craving for, not too much and not less. We tried BBQ pork jowl, Duo Fried, Dessert Platter and Rin's Beef. They were all flavorful and simply delicious. Especially Rin's Beef dish, it was tooooo good we forgot to take a photo lol. To sum up, worth stopping by and giving it a try. Loved this rest for several years. It has been recently sold - but the new owners have kept the basic same menu. I've given it 2 tries since the turnover and both times have been an expensive disappointment. The cashew chicken is now salty and fried instead of the delicious refined dish it used to be. The Pad See Ew is a gloppy unflavored mess. Even the Fresh Roll Shrimp lacked flavor - plus was that imitation crab meat instead of shrimp? I don't understand why when you have a good thing going you gotta go and mess with the formula? It makes me very sad to cross Rin's off my Noe Valley restaurant list for good. read more

Once again, Rin's manages to completely exceed my expectations in providing the best Thai food and best experience. The service is amazingly quick, the interior is beautifully decorated, and the food? Wow. My last review details our go-to orders and once again, these dishes did not disappoint. I have to give special mention to/ rave about the mango sticky rice, which is simply mouth-watering. When splitting the dessert with a group it's tough not to grab the bowl and devour it all yourself. The black rice (which I have not seen any other place use) is textured and unique, the mango and condensed milk provide creamy fresh sweetness, and the sesame seeds and crispy flakes atop add the perfect complement to the soft textures of the dish. Quiet Thai restaurant in the back of Noe. Came on a Saturday night and didn't need reservations. Food is just ok. They have a lot of the main stream dishes that you see at most other restaurants. Our favorites were the pad thai and yellow curry. Both had decent portions. Wish they had slightly more spice though. Tried the roti appetizer and wasn't that impressed. The roti was a little on the dry side. Also would have preferred a savory sauce instead of the sweet peanut sauce, but I get what they were going for. Good food overall. This used to be one of my main delivery rotation places but I didn't realize they are now under new ownership. I knew the second I opened the food, though. Pretty much everything was much smaller and not nearly as good as it used to be. Some notes: 1. Bangkok Bamboo Beef: The overall portion is now MUCH smaller. The beef is very tough. Almost too tough to chew. I had to use a knife to cut it into smaller pieces and still couldn't chew some of it. It's now LOADED with bell peppers and has much less of the other (better) ingredients. I'm pretty sure it used to have carrots, but now none. 2. Brussells Sprouts: It's now a totally different dish. This used to be one of the best things Rin's had. The outer leaves would be crispy and fried, the inner parts of the sprouts tender. There would be some caramelization, some of big chunks of garlic, and a distinctive sauce on the side. Now it is uniformly mushy big sprouts, clearly boiled or steamed, not baked or fried like before. And they are smothered in a sauce that while not bad, is nothing like the original sauce. It tastes sort of like a Chinese 'Beef and Broccoli' sauce. Overall a totally different and not nearly as good dish. 3. Yellow Curry: Another fairly different dish now, but the best of the three things I got. The potatoes were undercooked, almost too undercooked to eat. The sauce is good and pretty similar to the original sauce. The chicken is no longer big pieces of thigh meat as it used to be, but smaller tougher pieces. Overall, I won't be ordering from here again, there's just better Thai options, especially for the price. I'm sad one of my go-to delivery places is gone. read more

Service was polite and efficient , just one waiter Sweet potato samosas- $12.5 - a must get, super flavorful with the the right amount of crispy exterior and soft interior. Delicious with the sauce Beef pad siew - $17 - the beef was a little dry and the dish was too salty for my liking. I would not order this again Mango sticky rice - $12 - delicious, another must get. Tom kha soup : Container only half full, I chose chicken (4-5 teaspoon size pieces) and added shrimp for $5 extra, 2 shrimps!!! VERY DISAPPOINTING Grilled Roti : $5.95 for 4 pieces of a typical small pita (3 inches in diameter). PRETTY SAD for $5.95. Jasmine rice: $3.50 for 8 oz container when every other restaurant charges same for 16 oz. There are lots of other choices and I'll be getting Thai food elsewhere. read more

Thank you for taking care of our rowdy group! A group of eight of us walked up from the Tavern looking for a good meal, not just burritos this night. We plowed in, tipsy and hungry, and this place took master care of us. I know the feeling when big groups come in at the end of the night, but none of it showed with the staff. The food, omg the food. I had fried chicken, tasted my boyfriends pad Thai, and had dumplings and Brussel sprouts as appetizers. The Brussel sprouts were AMAZING. Crispy and tasty! Everyone said they loved the food, and whatever wasn't eaten was taken home to enjoy later. This place is on my list to visit again. Seems like they're under new management when we came by one Friday night, and the food is still as good as ever. The service was attentive and friendly, and the choices on the menu were just as varied. The Ginger Seabass and Papaya Salad were tasty, but the best thing we had that night was the Duo Platter -- really unique and delicious! We could've had a second order of it and would've been happy (and stuffed)! Pretty disappointed in this place. My husband asked me to pick up some food to take home since this restaurant is by my work. It's pretty pricey and pretty mediocre. The Tom Yum soup was so spicy that it was very hard to eat. The chicken satay was rubbery and tasteless. The main dish was a beef one and it only had three pieces of meat in it. I have been coming to Rin's for years and was really sad when they sold to new owners. One of my favorite things about old Rin's is they would do delivery to the neighborhood. I felt so much better about ordering take out here knowing all of the fee's etc went back to the restaurant and they were very minimal. I decided to order delivery and sadly had to use an app as they didn't keep the same delivery as the previous owners. ( yes I could've ordered and picked it up) I was shocked when I saw that there was over $50 in fees. Which I guess is part of the convince of delivery but to know it probably all went to the app really sucks. Moving onto food I was really excited to see some update dishes, and sad to see some favorites go. I really loved the Asian chicken salad. Sounds so simple but was delicious sad to see it was no longer on the menu. The cashew chicken was delicious. Cucumber salad had barely any cucumber. The Kua Kai Kai Ob noodles were a congealed bland mess and came with some sort of spicy sauce that just tasted like siracha. The spicy tofu was also bland and had just a basic mix of veggies and the sauce was meh. Previously the sauce was so flavorful and stuck to the tofu and veggies this time it wasn't even coating the veggies. Shrimp fried rice again was boring tasted like white rice and shrimp. Thai tea was fine nothing to write home about. Sad to have lost such a good affordable take out spot. I won't be ordering delivery again, maybe food would taste better dining in. read more

Too much sugar! Take it out and revert to traditional Thai food. This is a nice neighborhood location that has a lot going for it with atmosphere and decent service if only the chef would learn to take the sugar out of the food. We had the fire cracker chicken and the beef tossed with noodles. The chicken was appropriately hot but also way too sweet! Unfortunately the sugar ruined the dish. What otherwise should've been a tasty chicken was drowned in sugary hot sauce. We also had the shrimp and pork dumplings. Same story. Sauce was way too sweet. Inedible. This sauce probably would've benefited from a nice citrusy and slightly hot sauce. There are so many choices for good authentic Thai in SFO. THIS WAS NOT IT., but it was open on a Monday. Quarantine review- Ordered delivery (cuz it's free!) directly by calling the number on their website. The man who answered was friendly and repeated the order back to me. For two people, we chose the pumpkin samosas, firecracker chicken, pad se ew with beef, and a side of jasmine rice. The man quoted 45 minutes but I feel like it came earlier. Everything was delicious. The chicken was not too hot, ground up and very flavorful. There were sliced peppers and onions in there as well. Went perfectly over the rice. The beef on the pad see ew was thinly sliced and juicy. There was some broccoli in there so it felt like a crossover between broccoli beef and pad se ew. Yum! My only complaint is that the pumpkin samosas were rather small. There were 4 but they were tiny. Luckily there were many other appetizers that sound appealing, so I will try another next time! read more
