    Chicken and steak fajitas
    Tonya M.

Very yummy food, service was super fast! Great location in Summerfield. It looks sort of small when you walk in, but the bar area is to the left and it really opens up. No outside seating. We met several friends there, so we had a pretty large table but the service was still super fast and on point. They were all very nice and attentive to our whole group. We had a really fun server that made it even more enjoyable It's sort of in a strip of buildings, but parking was ample. We really enjoyed the food there. I got the chicken and steak fajitas and split it with my spouse. There was plenty for both of us with the one person portion. Caution the salsa was a little spicy for our liking and we can usually handle the kick. Definitely will be going back!

    Enchiladas Supremas (4 enchiladas)
    Tom R.

Went with the wife and kids. Started off well with the chips and salsa, accompanied by homemade guacamole which was fresh and tasty. Had the 4 enchiladas: bean was great, chicken and beef were dry, and the cheese (usually my fave) was actually the worst. The cheese inside was far from authentic, more like a runny fake queso style cheese. Won't get it again. On the flip side, the rice and beans on the side were superb and authentic. Kids had wings which were dry as well. Wife ordered the enchilada and chimichanga combo, which came out as an enchilada and tostada combo. Saving grace was that the tostada was actually good! Our server was amazing. Friendly and quick to bring food, drinks and refills. Will be back because the service was great and some of the food was above par. Will try others on menu and hoping for a better main course experience. Food: 2/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5

First time at this location. It was not busy at all, it was an early dinner. I don't think they had enough staff. It took 15-30 minutes before someone waited on us. ( my husband went to ask someone). The food was good- not the best Rio -grande experience. I'm hoping it was just an off night- due to staffing. We love the Rio in Oak Ridge. We will be back to try again since we are not far from this location.

    Chicken fajitas
    Janis A.

The chicken fajitas at Rio Grande in Summerfield were magnificent. The chicken was well seasoned and savory and there were a ton of onions and peppers. Fajitas are my go to at a Mexican restaurant and the standard in which I judge their food. The portion size was huge as well. I will be going back!

    Rio Dip - Delicious!
    Tricia B.

The Rio Dip is delicious! The chips aren't authentic, so minus 1 star for that. Their regular salsa has all the spice of a can of tomato sauce, but if you ask for a spicier salsa, they'll bring you a delicious spicy salsa with great flavor. Usually, Mexican restaurants will have at least 2 other salsas to offer in addition to their standard offering with chips. Rio Grande has only 1, so minus another star. I asked for one chicken tostada and they brought me two (which I probably paid for), so watch the bartender so that he doesn't "sell up" on you. The service by the bartender was lukewarm...I wasn't inspired to visit again soon. If I go back, it'll probably be just for the Rio Dip which I'll enjoy at home with some authentic chips from another restaurant.

    Carnitas tacos

This place is in a great little area. We like to go next door to village beverage so we decided to grab a bite here with friends first. We were seated quickly and our waitress was great. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outside for dining as well. I ordered the carnitas taco meal and it was a large portion of food. I didn't realize they were served on corn tortillas (not my personal favorites) but that's on me. I'm one of those weird people that tastes fish soap whenever something has cilantro in it so I passed on the Pico de Gallo. Basically I was brought plain corn tortillas and carnitas with nothing else on them. Not only were the tortillas super dry but the carnitas were as well. I ordered a side of queso to pour over them for a little moisture. Everyone I was dining with enjoyed their food so I must've just not ordered the right thing. As far as location and ability to seat a lot of people this is great but I'll stay away from the carnitas and order something else next time.

    Chori pollo
    Janice M.

I feel compelled to update my previous one star review. I've been several times since then mainly because it's literally less than two miles from home and a quick and convenient lunch option when I'm pressed for time and don't want to drive into town. The food has much improved in the last few years. I always get their yummy, well seasoned black beans in lieu of refried beans or rice. The chori pollo and lunch chimi are solid and reasonably priced for lunch. The chips are always fresh and warm and the salsa is really tasty. Not heavy on cilantro which is a good thing for this cilantro hater! Service is always friendly and attentive.

    Chili Relleno (minced Beef)
    Colet M.

Interior is beautiful. I used to come here as a child often and I never had any complaints! They've always had that fresh, excellent salsa! However, we got Hurried service during our visit which was during an awkward service hour. We were too late for lunch and too early for dinner. Mostly, the issue is that my meal was swimming in an insane amount of grease! Chili rellenos (beef) was carelessly prepared. I hate giving shitty reviews but it's unacceptable for being a staple restaurant in the community for so long! Based on this visit with no prior experience, It would receive a single star. Over the years I Spent a lot of time and money in these booths having grown up nearby... so ** for the sweet memories.

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

Ambiance was terrible. Music was so loud. We had to actually yell at each other as did the other patrons and we asked multiple times to turn it down without success. Will never return to this awful restaurant.

True to its namesake, there are brightly colored folk art designs throughout the restaurant in line with their Mexican heritage. The trees that make it look overgrown from the outside actually serve to allow sunlight while masking the surrounding city, facilitating the transformation that makes you feel like you're in Mexico City. We came at an off-peak time in the afternoon and it was nearly empty. We were seated immediately and the service was prompt and attentive. I was pleased to see some unique menu offerings like Birra Ramen and Sopes that deviate from the standard American-friendly fare in most places. Drinks were good - we had a regular house margarita, a triple berry margarita, and a jalapeño cucumber margarita. All were tasty and I would order again. I tried to order a Mezcalita, since it's not often I see a Mezcal option, but they were out of that particular liquor. We tried to get street corn as an appetizer, which they were also out of. We got cheese and salsa with chips instead. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa generous with the cilantro, and the cheese bold and warm. For entrees we had the Al Pastor Quesadilla and the Birra Ramen. The quesadilla was good, though the beans on the side were pretty bland. The ramen was a unique and very tasty option, and I was not able to finish such a generous portion. I think I'd leave the cheese out next time since it made some weird textures, but the flavor was great overall. Overall, there are some small things to improve (having menu items in stock, bland beans) and the prices were a bit high, but we had a great experience overall. I'm not often in the area, but I'll certainly eat here again if I am!
