I've been coming to ripe since it opened and it has just gotten better and better. Whether it's for lunch, brunch, dinner, or dessert you can't go wrong here. For lunch I generally get the salads... I like the pitched pear with grilled chicken or the spinach. Their burgers are excellent and you've got to try the meatloaf for dinner. For dessert I recommend the Texas sheet cake or the cherry galette. Oh and brunch! I normally get the eggs Benedict... It's my favorite in town. Anyways, I've had pretty much everything on the menu here for every meal... So I can tell you this place is AWESOME. read more

There was a good lunch crowd there already. I can't say much that others haven't said. Food was good, service was great. And I'd definitely return to try some other items. But I have a gripe- I was very excited to try the seared Ahi sandwich. I love Ahi tuna! I've been spoiled living in Hawaii and being able to try fresh ahi whenever I wanted. Back to wonderful. After having some spotty service that last few times I went here, Ripe has really shined. On our two most recent visits our party was waited on very attentively, with timely service. Even when we had to wait to be seated, the hostess made sure to give us regular updates on the seating situation to all parties in the bar/patio areas. Ripe was one of the first restaurants we ate at when moving to El Paso from Florida. 95% of the time the food is really good. Out of the 10 or so times we have eaten there 9 were really good, 1 was not so great. I do wish they had more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. I am not a vegetarian or vegan, I'm more of a mostly-tarian, LOLm but I don't eat meat every day or every week, so it would be nice to have more than 1 option on the menu. Wow this place is impressive! Not at all what I was expecting to find in these parts. Quality food, well prepared and great service. Restaurant is laid out very well and maximizes space. Atmosphere is great! You could get dressed up or feel at home in sandals and a tshirt (at least I did). I went with the Pecan crusted salmon -- due to recent raving reviews. It was incredible. I recently went here to meet some friends for brunch - and although the food tasted really good, all four of us spent the rest of that day (and the next) feeling really ill and sick to our stomachs. We're not sure what it was - we all shared our dishes on separate plates.. but it was bad enough that I don't think we will be returning. I've loved Ripe since the first time I ate there. I went there for brunch and had the Florentine omelette, which has remained one of my favorites. I also love the biscuits that are served with the brunch menu and the small, cookies that are offered after a meal (usually - sometimes, the restaurant runs out of them). I've also had some of Ripe's sandwiches. I recommend the turkey pesto. Portion sizes are large for both brunch and lunch items, so either split the meal or plan on a to-go box. In terms of service, I've never had any problems. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. I've seen the same waitstaff at Ripe over a period of several months, suggesting a good work environment. The last time I visited, the service wasn't up to its usual par, but the restaurant was busy and getting ready to close for the day. During my most recent visits, I have been impressed with the new decor. It took an already good restaurant to an even better one. I love the funky lighting, the murals on the walls, the new curtains (green instead of gold), and the chalkboard calendar of live music events. All those elements, plus good service and nice background music, create a very attractive atmosphere. read more

I being really generous giving this place 3 stars. I ordered sweet potato fries and they were very skinny and almost bunt. The salmon pasta was at best, ok. I expect a salmon steak atop my pasta but it was shredded abc mixed in. I'm not sure if it was fresh salmon or salmon from a can. My friend had he Chicken ratatouille and said it was nothing special. I just so happened to be in town for work and had read about this place somewhere recently - so I had to pop over and try it out! Not a disappointing item on the menu! I had the eggplant and ricotta flatbread appetizer ($3 off during happy hour 3-5pm Mon-Fri), shrimp banh mi for lunner (it came with a side, salad in my case - best side salad I've had in a while!) and then I shared three desserts with others...Texas sheet cake a la mode, sweet potato swirl cheesecake, and the cherry gallete. I also tried the fresh squeezed lemonade - this is a must! Not too tart, not too sweet - just right! Check in on Yelp and get one free when you visit. I had a very satiating meal and will definitely recommend to others heading to this area. The two other people who came with me are locals and also thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Ripe is a rarity for El Paso. It would be more at home in Austin. It has changed its format to be more of a bistro. I have never had a bad or even just okay meal here. I would describe the food as nouveau comfort food with a healthy twist. Any of the pressed sandwiches/panini are worthwhile. The risotto cakes from the case are always a good choice. I recently had the Curry Potato Corn Chowder and throughly enjoyed it. The dinner specials are wonderful homemade dishes. Saturday or Sunday Brunch is a must!! I've been to Ripe twice now and I have one word for you -- amazing. I wish I could just stop right there but I have to write a little bit more for this to be considered a review and not a tip. I have been to Ripe's brunch and dinner. If I had to pick, I would go for brunch. I had the Cajun salmon Benedict and we split a monkey cake. I normally don't have a problem with sweets, but even the monkey cake was a little too sweet for me. Delicious, but I'm glad that we decided to split. The Benny was on point. I went to Ripe for lunch and really enjoyed it. I had the Garden Veggie Panini and the Cider Spices Red Sangria. The Sangria was good, but had a little too much anise for liking. I liked the added touch of apples and mint in the ice cube. The Garden Veggie Panini was delicious. It had just the right amount of pesto and carmelized onions to add rich flavor without overwhelming the other vegetables. Service was decent. Even though it was busy we we're seated quickly and our drink orders were taken. The server seemed fairly knowledgeable and our order came out as expected. It was a tad too noisy in the restaurant for my liking since it was lunch and I was trying to have a conversation. I loved the menu and want to come back and try more including the beers. Im visiting from AZ and wanted something local. My sister in law told us about Ripe. With a party of 10 the staff was very accommodating. The waiter was really nice too. I got the pancakes and my son got the French toast. I got to try them both and I think they were both delicious! Next time I come out here I will try this place for dinner. This is a go-to brunch spot. They do not have a crazy menu, but what they have they do really well. The patio is dog friendly.

First I have to say that our family lives in the Northeast and I cannot begin to explain to you how difficult it is to find a place that accommodates for my wife's gluten intolerance and dairy-free diet. But today, we found it! We started off with a simple appetizer, sweet potato fries! Then the waitress proceeded to assist my wife with customizing the Ratatouille Stuffed Chicken dish. I went to Ripe a second time after not going in quite a few years. I had intentions of going back, but just didn't have the time for awhile because it is fairly far from me. The first time I went, I didn't really enjoy the food I got, but I think it was more of a personal taste thing. That's why I knew I had to give them another chance. I went again last night with my best friend. Our server was the lovely Alyssa, and she was awesome and so sweet. My friend and I both got pasta. I tried their cream vegan pasta with cashews, and it was so good. I loved it! I got full before I finished it, and I had to make myself stop eating it because it was so good. My friend said his pasta was really good as well. I'm not sure which one he got, but it had peas and Parmesan cheese. I'm really glad I finally gave them another chance, and I will definitely be going back. read more

I recently went to Ripe for Brunch and had forgotten how delicious this place is. Being from California, it's hard to find a healthy place to eat in El Paso every time I go home to visit. We went early and were seated right away. We were greeted with fresh biscuits and home made jam. I had the daily quiche with was absolutely delicious. I loved that they used the roasted green chili's that gave it that homemade El Paso taste to it. They have a great menu to choose from and the restaurant is very clean and the staff is super friendly and patient. I will be back next time I go home to visit. read more

From the rave reviews i heard, I was expecting a little more out of Ripe. The problem could have been what I ordered, though it was the dish our waiter pushed the most- the pecan crusted salmon. Already a little over done, it was also a bit more bland than the recipe called for. The risotto it comes with was quite good, however. Though part of its charm is that it's a little place that has come a long way (as one reviewer put it), they need to work on the over all ambiance a bit more. already situated in a strip mall, it wouldn't hurt to make the decor a bit warmer. I've been here several times in a short amount of time (Hey I'm a Regular now!) and I have to say that each of the three times were impeccable. The service here is outstanding and attentive. The wait staff all work as a team to make sure you're satisfied. We go on Wednesdays for their 50% off wine bottles special. They have a different special each day, so you should probably get in on that! The first time I went I had the Maple Pork Chop and my friend had the Caprese Burger. The pork chop was cooked beautifully and had so much flavor. I was really impressed. My friend's burger was MASSIVE, such a huge portion half had to be taken home. The beef was juicy, that Bakka Ranch beef is something else. I think that may be the reason for the price increase other reviewers have mentioned, but I've done research and Bakka Ranch is locally raised beef! This same burger is a whopping $23 at another restaurant. (Burger Nerd over and out!) The second time I got a simple greek salad, which was a really big portion, and my friend got the Spicy Sausage & Peppers Pasta. Everything was cooked perfectly again and tasty. Their desserts are to die for. The Texas Sheet Cake Special is exceptionally yummy! Yes, it's a tad bit expensive but it's well worth every penny.
