TL;DR Try the ravioli and the flourless chocolate cake. Cost will vary hugely depending on order. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. Daily specials, extensive drink lists, and wonderful food. Eating here is possible on a medium budget, but take care what you order. As far as prices, they are kind of all over the board, which is understandable, but could be off putting as well. I think their veal chop and ravioli are probably their best dishes, but one is nearly 3 times the cost of the other. I've been coming to Gemelli's for years, and always come back because of the friendly service, and the ravioli of the day! It's always good, but more often than not, it's amazing. It's unfortunate that the crab cakes are no longer on the menu because they were amazing. Although, if you call far enough in advance (the morning of or the day before I think), and have a special request, they will usually accommodate you. Some time back when they still used crab in other dishes, they made the crab cake for me even though it wasn't on the menu and I didn't even call ahead. Their dessert options are wonderful. Mostly standard fare, but done with excellent quality. The flourless chocolate cake is still cakey and not as dense as others, and has a really great texture. The tiramisu, fruit and cream, and creme brulee are also great choices. Go during off hours so the place isn't packed, or make reservations. read more

I moved to Babylon 5 months ago and have already been to Gemelli a few times. It has officially became my favorite restaurant. The food is incredible, the wine is fabulous, and the service is on point.My favorite is the Grappa pasta. The Limoncello martini is also a great choice. And the Tartufo is to DIE for!! I've lived in the area for a few years now and always wanted to try this restaurant out. So went for lunch today and it was almost completely empty with one other table being served, which should have been the first clue to head for the door. The service was horrible, the food took forever and came out as if a child put it together. I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch, maybe dinner is better but I wouldn't give it another chance. I ordered a BLT salad, which was basically lettuce and tomatoes with precooked bacon and blue cheese. Not worth the trip. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Gemellis for valentines day, and I must say, the service they provided was the best I've ever had. Very polite, on-the-point when it comes to ordering, and the timing for each dish was perfect. I never felt stranded like so many other places do. We went with a party of eleven and were very disappointed. The Hostess was very un-friendly and had a bit of an attitude. Several members of the party were initially ignored by the head waiter and later brought the wrong meals then rudely took the plate away while the person was eating and gave it to another person in the party. One meal had what appeared to be a hair and was later told it was Brillo. Not once did the main Hostess come over to offer apologies. We were charged for the meal that was not even delivered. The portions were disgraceful for the price charged. The cappuccino was all milk. I would never go back and would recommend others not to waste their time or money. read more

My family had a wonderful meal in celebration of a birthday. We were promptly greeted by George and Pat. Our server, Laura was very attentive, making sure our glasses were never empty and was a big help when it came to deciding on our appetizer and dinner choices. Yesterday was my Fiancé Carol's birthday. While driving around to find a place to go eat she mentioned that she always wanted to try Gemelli. We walked in around 8 o'clock without a reservation and we were greeted by an extremely pleasant hostess. That put a very great tone on the beginning of a very pleasant evening. Our waiter Giuseppe greeted us with a very big smile and we told him it was our first time there he thanked us for making it her birthday place. He took our drink order right away and within five minutes we had our drinks. Left about five minutes he came back he told us with the specials were I ordered the veal chop Carol ordered the rolled lasagna. We also ordered a hot appetizer for two that was out of this world. The veal chop was cooked to perfection the lasagna was out of this world the presentation was fantastic. Then we ordered two desserts which we very rarely do they brought Carol's out with a birthday candle on it our waiter another waiter sang happy birthday to her. What impressed me most about this place besides the food was the attitude that the people who work there have. Waiters smiling and having a great time. Out waiter Giuseppe makes you feel welcome and we had a few laughs with him. Carol met the owner who buy the way is 90 years old God bless him and a real gentlemen. This was one of the best experiences that we have had in a restaurant in a very long time. This place has been open for over 20 years and I can see why. The worst dinning experience ever! Friday night my friend and I decided to try Gemelli out. When I first went in everyone seemed very welcoming. We were seated outside and the hostest was considerate and asked example to us that the guys where smoking on the side and we should sit up front to stay away from the smoke. She handed us drink menus and said she would be "right back" with the menu... We sat there and watched her and waitress served the table on both sides of us. No eye contact with us, never came back over. About 15 minutes later older woman and her son were seated in the high top. Both were given real menus and woman received her wine! We still received zero service. I was dressed nicer then most people were sitting back there. So I obviously didn't look poor. Was never ever served. So I will not be going back..... As for dinner that night, I dropped $150 on drinks and dinner at the carriage house. They were more than happy to serve me. Left a good tip too. read more

I ate there with a friend of mine. My opinion does not matter here because I work for the Deli associated with this restaurant. My friend loved the food, and stated it was the best Italian food place he ate at in a long time. He commented on the way the restaurant was set up, the staff, as well as time it took to get food. This restaurant use to be excellent. We haven't been there in about six month and this once great eatery is at best mediocre. We arrived on Friday evening at 7 with a reserve ration. The restaurant was by no means full but yet the wait staff could not be found at times. It was 15 minutes after we were seated before our drink order was taken. The drinks took another ten minutes to arrive. Our waitress went MIA for another 15 minute before we were able to order. The remainder of the meal came equally as slow. My wife's shrimp was rubbery and the sauce was on par with store bought. My clams were mainly bread crumbs. My veal and her fish were not spectacular in the least. This use to be the go to place in Babylon Village. From now on, I'll stay away. read more

We had dinner here last night. We decided to try it again for Restaurant Week. The risotto was gummy, the sea bass was overcooked, the crab cake was burned, the lettuce was wilted. That was only my meal. We were seated near the kitchen hallway so I had a good view of it, just like home. We never saw the waiter after the entrée was served. Another waiter took over to serve us coffee after waiting for it one half hour. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to go out, spend hard earned money on a meal that looked like it was reheated. Here for my friend's baby's christening reception. I guess it was a medium party, around 60+ ppl...we came here directly after the ceremony (which ended at 230pm). We hadn't eaten lunch since we were anticipating a meal as *soon* as we arrived. OK, so we all arrived a little early and were seated. I ended up sitting by the far end of the room... And found out that the waiters tended to not walk to the back, so no one came to ask us if we wanted drinks for awhile. But finally they did, so OK. It was a 3course meal, with appetizer (baked clams or fresh mozzarella, tomato with balsamic reduction), a salad, and choice of entree. They also had a childrens menu. Anyway they took so long to come with bread that we were eating the olives and garlic in olive oil at the table while we were waiting to be asked for our drink order. Also they kept forgetting what we ordered, I waited 15min for a Coke, ordered from a faster waiter, and then saw the original waiter come back with a Coke and look around quizzically. Uh DUH... OK, so they finally took our orders... It is now 4pm and they just brought us our appetizers, about 1 and a half hours after we arrived/ordered, then the children's meals followed quickly. No action, and then the waiters started collecting plates. Then the salads came, and I looked at my watch. 430pm. Well OK. We ate our salads. And they cleared our table. And i watch them clear other tables and get rid is used dishes etc. Well now it's 530pm, an hour after our salad arrived, and they are *still* clearing plates... And we STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN OUR MAIN COURSE. And we are STARVING. I'm used to meals, even Prix fixe, coming a LOT SOONER than this, one after the other. I actually thought the food portion of the reception would be over after 2hours at most... OK the entree finally came. I ordered the Pollo Sorrento, which was chicken breast with smoked mozzarella, ham, and eggplant on top. Not sure if this is because it's a prix fixe for groups... But its far from impressive or nicely plated. And i probably ordered the wrong thing. I expected it to look and taste better. It wasn't memorable or tasty, kinda bland. I'm disappointed. The potato croquette was decent though. Maybe the other dishes on the regular menu are a lot better than this. 615pm, probably about to offer dessert and cake. I guess maybe this is something to look fwd to... Overall it looks like a really nice restaurant, nice decor etc. Too bad the *slow* service, and plating totally did not measure up. I can't imagine how it would be if we came here for a date, I can't stand waiting a long time for my entree esp when I'm hungry. But I will commend this waiter -- tall, short dark hair with blond on top and a very well groomed face with thin beard. He always came over to us and was quick to get our drinks and to take our plates. Seemed really attentive to everyone. read more

What a turn around from my previous review! I've been here many, many times but our favorite time is around Christmas. The decorations are beautiful, but all the good stopped right there this time. We were promptly seated in the restaurant that I would say was half full, plenty of empty tables. Service which is usually excellent was sub par to say the least. We waited over ten minutes for someone to acknowledge our presence, then waited again for a menu. Did I mention waiting for someone to take our drink order? Finally, a waiter! We ordered fried calamari that the wife and I split for an app, like we usually do, this time there wasn't enough calamari on the plate for one person let alone two! My wife ordered a seafood special that had four, yes four mussels and clams in shells so small I question their legality. My rib eye, which I have had before came cooked medium rare as ordered smothered in what tasted like Franco- American brown gravy! What! My mistake was I didn't realize it came in a barolo wine sauce, UGH, how to ruin a great steak. I could go on and on with little things missing that set Gemelli's apart from the rest but no need to beat a dead horse.Needless to say, things didn't go well between the waiting and the meal. The entire staff bent over backwards to make sure my family's bereavement lunch went as smoothly as possible this past weekend -- including opening early and accommodating us when our party of 20 showed up an hour earlier than expected due to a short service and poor weather. The fixed-price menu was reasonable (appetizer, entree, dessert and soft drinks included), portions were hearty and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself was lovely, with a roaring fire ready to warm us up. All in all, the folks at Gemelli did all they could to make a difficult day a little easier. read more

Went there last night, to celebrate my son's graduation. WORST SERVICE EVER. The waiter barely came to our table which was a party of 12, so the 18% gratuity was already built into the check! Reservations at 7:00pm, food didnt arrive until 9:15 pm!!! While I realize the kitchen is the blame, the waiter did nothing to make it right. Nice guy, but obviously inexperienced! He seemed afraid of my 86 year old mother who told him exactly how upset she was, as did my husband and sister. Upon leaving the Mgr said "I heard you had an unfavorable experience?" I told her for a bill TOTALING OVER $400.00 we expected better service. By the time the food came, we were all too tired to eat it. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN!! Ruined my son's graduation party!! My girlfriend and I hadn't dined at Gemelli's in years and decided to try a Friday night dinner. Coming from an all Italian household I don't often go out for Italian fare and when I do I'm very critical. From what I remembered of Gemelli's; both the service and food were excellent, unfortunately on this past Friday night's visit the service was the only thing that remained the same. We started with the fried calamari which was as I remembered, with the calamari tender, enrobed in a perfectly crisp coating. For our main dishes we ordered the Lobster Risotto and the Amalfi with white wine sauce, the risotto was cooked perfectly, slightly al dente, however the broth tasted slightly over cooked and the lobster although portioned properly was also slightly over cooked, leaving it chewy. The Amalfi was also properly portioned, the shellfish was cooked well, not chewy but the white wine sauce was lacking in flavor detracting from the overall quality of the dish. For desert we had the NY cheesecake and the Crème brûlée, both were acceptable but not exceptional. Pricing is reasonable and service is excellent but for us to frequent it, an Italian restaurant needs to be well above average. read more

What a joke! This place tries to be true fine dining but the service and food are truly awful. I asked about two items, and whether I could have them dairy-free, and the server shrugged and finally said said he could check. He didn't check until I asked a couple more times. Finally our food came and my order had cheese sprinkled on top. I said "is this cheese?" And he said "yes! Oh. You can't have cheese?" I said "no, no dairy remember?"... and he just kind of acted like it was no big deal and acted like it was my problem and I should just figure it out. Offered to do nothing to help. Every server there had the worst attitude, making really lame jokes and thinking they were hilarious. The testosterone was almost belligerent there. And the food? I had what I'd call a BLAND beyond belief schnitzel . Who is regularly paying $30-50 per plate for this? My guess is they have a lot of first timers who make the mistake of going and not many repeat costumers. Save your money and self respect and skip this place! read more

We ordered a tray of Chicken Parm, Chicken Marsala and Baked Ziti. The food was not good, very disappointing. The Chicken in both dishes tasted like it was braised or roasted, and very dry. The Marsala sauce was very thick like a lumpy gravy. The Ziti was dry, almost no sauce in it. I spoke with the owner and all he could come up with was "that's how we make it". He swore the chicken was fried but fried chicken cutlets can't be dry! There were 12 of us and not one person liked the food. Will never order from this place again, huge disappointment. read more

OK, the food was alright but I expected something more for the prices. I hate rating a restaurant on the following but our evening was spoiled by... Advertise music from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesdays so we arrived at 5 pm to enjoy some conversation with our meal and then planned to enjoy coffee and music. Guess either the band or the owner doesn't understand time. Although the musician was there a little after 6, the music didn't start until 6:45. Commented to the hostess, and basically got a shrug. We had planned the rest of our evening on a 5 pm to 7 pm dinner so missed out on the music. When the bill came I noticed that two of the liquor drinks were not at the "Happy Hour" pricing. The waiter checked the menu and said that was only at the bar. I asked to see the menu and sure enough, in small print there it was. BUT, this is the menu you receive at the table, PLUS, when I ordered the drinks it was for the house wine and martini from that page in the menu. Would have been nice if 1) the waiter mentioned the restriction and 2) if I paid $11.50 for a martini I received bottom shelf vodka. I have no problem paying the price, it's just that restrictions should be in a larger print, even if they are on a separate line. Overall, nice restaurant, decent food, but other restaurants in the area do it better. When I left I said it would be a one star review but I feel that would be unfair. My husband and I frequently go to the Gemelli's. We have become very close to Everyone. We feel so special going there each and every time. From the minute we walk in the door, to the moment we leave. We have had a few Parties planned and everyone always left with Full bellies, and saying how much they enjoyed the food. Anytime we have friends or family over we take them to Gemelli's. The same as always Never disappointed! I can sit here and write to you about certain dished you must try but there is one problem. I would be here ALL DAY! BUT my favorite is the Lobster Risotto. I always ask them to add Shrimp. OMG DELISH! After researching restaurants that were rated highly by Zagat, my husband & I decided to make a reservation at Gemelli's in celebration of our 1st wedding anniversary. We were very excited & came in last Saturday night (5/24) at 8 pm. Our server was Juan. For starters, it took Juan about 10 minutes to even acknowledge us. We ordered the appetizer for two. Highly disappointed. Besides it tasting bland, the calamari was soggy, the clams were tiny & had no flavor, and the shrimp were over cooked. The artichokes were great though! We then waited 20 minutes after we finished our appetizer for our entrees. Definitely not worth the wait. I ordered chicken Marsala, that honestly tasted frozen. My husband ordered penne with sauce, shrimp, cheese & fresh basil .. It was ok. Not once did Juan ask how our meal was. Our drinks were empty before he asked if we wanted another. I was really looking forward to a cappuccino & creme brûlée, which is the ONLY reason we stayed for dessert. My husband would have just as easily preferred to leave & have ice cream across the street. We waited another 20 minutes to receive our desserts! We didn't even get our coffees until AFTER the dessert was on the table. Buy the time we left, we were exhausted. A 3 hour dinner? Really? Definitely not worth the $120 .. We will stick with what we know and love .. Nonnina's in West Islip. Our review probably won't change much, but I can't stop thinking about it & how this is our memory of celebrating our first anniversary. Totally disappointed. read more

Very disappointing... We drove in from Huntington during LI Restaurant week as my friend raved about how good it had been on a previous visit. I had the fried calamari appetizer which tasted like it was soaking in sauce long before serving and was served luke warm and soggy. My friend had the seafood zucchini appetizer which was ice cold. The chicken entree was bland at best and I was still tasting the pasty flour it was coated in long after dessert and coffee. As for dessert, I ordered the red velvet gelato - I didn't think you could ruin ice cream but you can. It was vanilla with crumbled cake mixed in which gave it a grainy unappealing texture. When we suggested to the waiter that the calamari would be much better served crisp with the sauce on the side he said that is how it is served from the regular menu but this is how they do it for restaurant week. We were 4 unhappy customers. We eat out a lot and use restaurant week to try new places. Seems silly to bring in new customers with a special and then disappoint them with a subpar meal. Party of 7 for a family celebration on a Friday night. Service and atmosphere were excellent. Our waiter was friendly, accommodating and very funny. Food was terrific. Each of us had a different dish and we all were very satisfied. I'm a central Nassau guy and the trip to Babylon was well worth it and certainly worth doing again. We heard good things about this venue, so decided to try it for restaurant week. We were six couples, twelve of us. The service was outstanding, the food delicious, but the portions were very small. Nasty owner! Would never come back to this place. Came here to celebrate my mother's 50th birthday. My parents loved coming here, they were frequent customers, so I thought it would be fun to get her whole family together to have dinner here, since she didn't want a party. I made a reservation three weeks in advance to have a table by their fireplace because I know my mother and father always request to sit by it whenever they come. I made a reservation for 17 people. The day of the party only 15 of us were there because my two cousins were no longer able to attend. Well, the owner was NOT happy about this she was very nasty to my family, and because we were missing two people she sat us and purposely walked us past the table that was clearly empty and set up for us by the fireplace, to a different table away from it. When we asked her if we could have that table she told us no and said she was waiting for another party come in. When we questioned her saying that we made a reservation three weeks prior, she began to argue with us in front of my whole family about how we were rude and should have told her we were going to be missing two people. Apparently a party of 15 was not good enough for her! P.s. The restaurant was practically empty, and the table by the fireplace sat empty the entire time we were there! They filled it with a party while we were paying our bill. Needless to say, my parents are NOT frequent patrons any longer. There are so many beautiful Italian restaurants on Long Island, we do not need to give our business to an owner who is clearly unappreciative of it! read more

We (4) had dinner on Sun May 24. The food was excellent. The appetizer we shared of baby artichokes were so delicious. And you could eat the whole artichoke stem and all it was so tender. The salads as always are fresh and tasty. I had the capriccio and my mom had the Caesar which was also excellent. The Amalfi with really large shrimp and a large portion which I took home for the next day's lunch. Gnocchi Bolognese was lite and delicious. We were all pleased with our service from Juan. I went with my family this past Saturday July 8, 2017-We have eaten here before, enjoyed it and my daughter just recently bought a home about a mile away. The place was not crowded for our 7:30 reservation and we sat outside. We immediately ordered drinks and a scoop of vanilla ice cream for my 31/2 year old grandson requesting the waiter bring it right away. It took a good 15 minutes to get our drinks and i then gave my appetizer order which consisted of both the hot and cold anti-pasta and an order of baked clams. The waiter informed us that we should also order the entrees at this time and I said we weren't prepared yet to just bring my grandson the ice cream now. Another 10 minutes went by and the waiter came back to take our entree order again-Once more I asked for the ice cream-Another 10 minutes passed and the waiter again returned for the entree order-He was told again to bring the ice cream-My wife got up shortly after to talk a manager, a tall blond woman. She came back with the ice cream but with no apology. We were now at the restaurant for 40 minutes- The manager walked by our table shortly after and I asked what the delay was-She stated that the computer froze and the order never went in-No apology-Just looked at us like "whatever"-I informed the waiter to just bring out the appetizers we weren't going to order anything else-Another 15 minutes went by, no appetizers yet and we decided to leave and I asked for a check-Another 5 minutes went by no check and we walked to the front door where manager stated that there would be no bill-Still no apology- I thanked her and walked out-One of the worst dining experiences I've had-Definitely did not know how to make things right and placate the customer. read more
