Atmosphere is great, food is even better! We have eaten here two nights in a row! Best French fries I have ever had and all other food has been great! I don't write a lot of 5 star reviews however this place deserves it. Friendly staff, and great music as well. Between the 7 of us, we have had quite a few menu items including pizza, gnocchi, lobster, ravioli (also one of the best I've had), spaghetti, and cheeseburgers. They treated us like family. One of the most special experience we had and will never forget. The food and desserts were so amazing I asked to talk to the chef. They through a birthday celebration for both my grandchildren like I never seen before. Shut all lights in restaurants, turned music high and played happy birthday in Italiano while everyone came to our table. Then gave everyone free shots at the end. Do not go here. There are so many decent or good restaurants in Rome and this not one of them. I read a lot of great reviews on other forums recommending this restaurant I was skeptical because of its proximity to the Colosseum but thought we should at least try. Well I'm now convinced those are paid reviews. Let's just say that there is no way this restaurant passed a health inspection. Despite that I said OK let's give it a try anyway. The menu advertised gluten-free options however when we arrived at the restaurant the waiter told us no they don't have gluten free pasta pizza even though gluten-free pizza is listed on the menu. OK maybe they ran out no big deal. I'll keep looking at the menu and try to figure out something. The real turning point was when we tried to order sparking water. If you order sparking water the water is tap water with 'gas added' which wouldn't be such a big deal but for the fact that they give you a extremely dirty never washed reusable glass bottle. The bottle had rust all over it and was covered in fingerprints and old food. During non-Covid times this is gross but during Covid times just unacceptable. The lack of food choices and the dirty water was the last straw. Recognizing that I ordered the water I was definitely willing to pay for it. When we called the waiter over to say we had changed our minds given the lack of viable food options and I wanted to just pay for the water the waiter became extremely hostile yelling at me with his mask down below his face, mind you while we were indoors. (Which we went to escape from given the amount of exhaust from nearby cars. This is not the fault of the restaurant but just appoint to know if you want to sit outside and enjoy the partial view of the Colosseum). The waiter continued to yell at me and became extremely hostile, completely and totally unacceptable behavior. It's not like the restaurant was full and the waiter was too busy. I would never recommend this restaurant. Given its lack of cleanliness, failure of masks wearing by any of the staff, zero safety precautions, lack of health screening check for indoor visitors, lack of sterilization and lack of overall cleanliness this place should be shut down. OK I guess if you wanna contract food poisoning give it a go. read more

I would definitely skip this place, it's in business purely due to the location by the Colosseuem. The food was ok, I had the lasagna which was pretty good but not special, my fiancée had the spaghetti carbonara which was mediocre at best. This was also the only place we ate in Italy which didn't offer bread before the meal. The real downfall here was the service. It was slow, but to top it all off, our waiter, who also appeared to be the owner and/or manager rudely asked for a tip, twice! Tipping isn't common in Italy, we actually did tip in some other restaurants where we experienced great service. When we did, wait staff were surprised and gracious. Only at this place was it demanded... definitely felt like an "American tax" type of cash grab. read more

Right outside the exit of Coliseum but we were exhausted and hungry so took the risk. A lot of these reviews can depend on the staff you interact with. Perhaps our waiter was having a bad day or really doesn't like Americans but he was very curt with responses and not helpful with the menu. The guy who brought our food was very talkative and kind. For the food, all four of us were happy. I had the burger with bacon and fries. All very good. Son had kid's menu spaghetti and his strawberry/vanilla gelato was amazing! Daughter had chicory and sausage pizza sandwich which was different but she ate it. Wife had cheese pizza that was wonderful. Excellent staff! Very pretty setting . They had the best latte macchiato ever!!!!! I had the ham cheese and toast egg ($9) the egg was fried with a bit of yolk for texture. Stopped at this cafe on our way to the coliseum. My take is simply pass by it. The food is out of the box pasta and fairly expensive. Probably the worst Italian I had in a long time and I'm from the states. I ordered their mussel pasta and the size of the mussels were laughable at best. See one of my pictures. The pasta itself was loaded with oil and or butter which made the taste very heavy. My friend had the fettuccine with chicken which look runny vs creamy and the penne pasta that was literally Chef Boiardi - esque. The only redeeming factor are the location and their waiting staff. My group of 7 decided to come inside after being rejected at a few other restaurants in the area for them not having enough seating. We were seated at a table in front of the bar and given some bread in a bag with some balsamic vinegar and olive oil. We waited for some plates, but never received them. Thought it was common sense, but we had to specially ask for them. We ended up ordering spaghetti with meatballs, seafood spaghetti, burger with fries, a smoked salmon panini, caesar salads, and a lasagna (me). For me, the lasagna was mediocre. The pasta was a little hard on the sides, as if it was heated up in a microwave. The sauce was good though, but basic. I would've much preferred the caesar salads. The serving was fairly large, and it came with chicken, ham, eggs, tomatoes, some cheese on top, and the caesar salad on the side. The rest of the food was pretty okay, nothing too extravagant. Other than that, we did enjoy the service, and the environment was very peaceful and quiet. I would come again, but just order something basic like the salad. read more

This is my first authentic italian food experience at an italian restaurant. I think i really appreciate the decor the most. They introduce you to the art of the food you're about to eat. The waitress are also very nice and fancy. The issue here is that I think the coffee options are a bit pricy, but honesty i think it's just because i'm not a huge fan of european coffee. also another thing, with their lunch food, (my elite friend @wendywang) who ordered a lasagna, was real salty, and another one of my friend who ordered a salmon sandwich said that i was pretty salty too. for me, which i ordered the ceaser salad, wow.. delicious, mind blowing. it's so different from american ceaser salad. it's more of a house salad but it's very delicious. that's all i have to say about that read more

One star for the location. Excellent proximity to the Colosseum. Beautiful view! One star for the service. Friendly wait staff. Very attentive and welcoming. Zero stars for the food. This is a mediocre restaurant with boring food. All pasta are store bought dry pasta. I'd expect something more authentic. We had a mussel dish in which the mussels were SO tiny!! Tomato sauce tastes like it came out of a can. Not very impressive. Zero stars for the price! Seeing that it's not very authentic, the prices are overrated. Also, they charged us $5 for a can of soda! I think they only did it bc we were tourist! Soda wasn't listed anywhere on the menu so we couldn't argue with their price!! If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. We were not expecting a lot from this place, but they let us down hard. The Caesar salad is NOT a Caesar salad. There are way too many ingredients, and there is no romain lettuce. They give you about a table spoon of dressing. The croutons were soggy. The pizza tastes like it was made in America; and not in a good way. It was supposed to be a margarita pizza. Where was the basil? Absent like you should be from this restaurant. €18 for pasta which was legitimately box pasta and probably canned sauce with frozen meatballs. Spaghetti O's would have been tastier. Overall it was slow service, overpriced food, but a great view of the Colosseum. Definitely a pass from me. To top it all off, the sink in the restroom did not work. My impression is this is a 100% tourist trap. What I did NOT like is they want to charge for tap water. Although I have only been in Rome for 1 day, none of the other restaurants have done this. Second is all of the other restaurants in Rome did not expect a tip. They expect one here. Must be cash only. On the positive side the food was good & the bathroom was clean. Don't go here. It's 100% a tourist trap. Service is also terrible. Service: Horrible. Our server Habib clearly had some kind of upper respiratory infection. He had a persistent cough, sinus congestion, and rhinorrhea. I watched as he handled our utensils and food without washing his hand in between coughs and rubbing his nose. Service was slow, and it took an extremely long time to get our bill at the end. Moreover, he had the gall to point out specifically two times that the total "[did] not include tip". This is when I knew without a doubt that this was a tourist trap since tipping at restaurants is not commonplace in Italy. Moreover, when I offered to give 2 euro in tip, he actually said "minimum of 5 euro" pointing to his machine, as if it were the machine's fault. Clearly, he could input any number he wanted to into the machine. I said we would just leave the tip on the table in cash then, and he shook his head with disgust. This is when I realized that he truly did not deserve any tip whatsoever, so we left without giving any tip. As a server, you do not demand tip. It is earned. I actually just came from a tour of the Colosseum where I was the only one in my party that tipped the tour guide, because I appreciated his effort and expertise. This is in contrast to our experience at this restaurant. Food: Fine. The fried zucchini was delicious, as was the aubergine pie. My clam spaghetti had sand in nearly 1/3 of the clams, making for an unpleasant surprise in nearly every other bite. read more

We received a discount for going from TripAdvisor I believe and it was well worth it. The views of the coliseum (right across the street) are spectacular and the food was good. I had the pizza margarita and my family split a side of fries. I enjoyed my food, but my sister did not like her pasta. (she ended up having some of my pizza) Service was good until we asked for the check... she never gave it to us so we walked up there to the front to get it. I'm a picky eater, but I enjoyed my food. I've eaten at Michelin restaurants , 5 star restaurants in USA, London, Paris , Venice , Florence , and Rome and while this isn't a Michelin restaurant, is a great value for what you get . We had the appetizer with eggplant , copa,Proccuito, fresh mozzarella , tomato, and focaccia. We shared a fettuccine with salmon , and my date had the veal cheek with red wine sauce and I have the filet with porcini mushrooms . The flavors were all great, portions were proportionate to cost. I'd recommend getting the dessert somewhere else but we had a bottle of prosecco and an espresso martini with dinner that checked all the boxes . We sat outside with a great view of the colosseum. We ate at Ristorio della Salute which is located just across the street from the Coliseum just after our visit there. They had a nice menu and both food and service were very good. We had a light lunch for the 3 of us with just a salad, a piece of lasagna and a glass of beer. It was quite hot out so the light lunch was perfect for the rest of our afternoon. read more

I don't know if I could eat here again if this was the last restaurant in the world. The lamb chops struck out bad. I asked for medium rare. It had no taste and the first time it was cooked, it was well done. The second try it was rare. The pasta was average taste. We didn't have a view because we were inside because it got cold quick.
