This is my second time coming here as a visitor to the Breckenridge area and I love it. Really cool vibe with good music, food, drinks and service. We ordered a few orders of tacos. This was my our favorite spot to dine in Breckenridge. Like many others have said Rita's is a laid back establishment. They have a great happy hour special on drinks and tacos and its first come first serve. If upon your arrival there are no available tables you can order a drink and attempt to casually wait it out in the limited space. The two (MAYBE THREE) times we went there (YES WE ENJOYED IT THAT MUCH), within 5-10 minutes a table became available. You will then receive a paper menu where you can pencil in the type of taco and sides you want. It's self explanatory, once ready hand it to your server. All tacos can easily be made vegetarian which is always a plus. With the chill vibe and great margaritas it was easy to relax and enjoy our vacation. read more

Cool dive frequented by 20-something locals and tourists that want to get f@cked up! Btw, this spot is no replacement for Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant if the wait is to long there, so don't get your hopes up by the high reviews here because the food here is just so/so at best. Instead this place is it's own unique spot that serves a good purpose: to drink. And the drinks here are good and affordable. Best bet is the house margarita, with the fresh squeezed lime juice. Don't be tempted to spend any more on fancy drinks, you won't taste the difference. Getting back to the food, there was a sophisticated way to order, but on delivery we were let down. That said the best taco by far is the gringo with ground meat on a hard (and hopefully fresh) shell. The fish tacos are terrible and the other taco concoctions were not memorable enough to even write about. Service started solid but deteriorated as the crowds poured in and the volume rose. Nonetheless, this is a cool spot, worth checking out on your visit or if you move here and are local. The drinks are great, and that's all you really need to do here. Oh, and one last note on the chips. Digging through the bowl of chips was like a geologist going through layers of time. As we ate more chips they became staler and soggier the deeper we went. We just had to wonder how many times they poured the new chips on top when giving it to the next customer. The guac was fresh (but needed salt - no big) and the pico was good. Not a great beer selection, but most people come for the margaritas and tequila. ;) The tacos are fine, not great. I am in Breckinridge celebrated my bachelor party and we decided to come to Rita's to get margs and some food. The hostess (wish I knew her name but she has a super faded tattoo on her hand) but she was working today around 4pm and the rudest host I have ever encountered. She treated us like we weren't worthy of eating there. She talked to us like we were stupid. We had a group of 8 that wanted to sit downstairs. We are totally fine with the covid rules and being split up. So we were going to sit downstairs at separate tables. She sat us upstairs at a different restaurant and once we figured out we weren't where we planned to be we went back downstairs. half of our group sat downstairs by a different server and made room for our group. This hostess came out of nowhere and sat a table down there and told the server "I'll go talk to them" she came over and was yelling at us and so rude we ended up walking out of the restaurant while she was still talking. I want to clarify that I am not talking about their drinks, as a bar the place isn't that bad. However the food was God awful, the waiter mentioned the word microwave and that should have been my cue to leave. I ordered the "pastor" tacos, there is nothing "pastor" about them, it was just boiled pork with no flavor and God knows how much spice because it burned. Was disappointed that after waiting 45 minutes for four tacos, only one of the four came out warm. The other three were cold. Understanding that many service based businesses are doing their best during COVID-19, and really wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt, so we let our server know, in the hopes of having them reheated. He was rude about it, stating "you're sitting outside, what do you expect?" With that, we just asked for a box to take them home to reheat ourselves. He did come back and offer to take them off of our bill, but that's honestly not what we were wanting. We just wanted them warmed up. The table next to us seemed to be having the same problem. For my first dinner as a official full time resident of Breckenridge, my friend took me to Dinner at Rita's. I will say that this place definitely reminds me of a Tiki Bar, but with a sprinkle of hippies. The food was fantastic and I recommend the fish tacos with hard taco shells. The sides were well cooked and the black beans are the choice to make between refried and black beans. I would have gave them 5 stars, but I think the Tecate is a bit over priced. When I can get a Tecate for the same price as a PBR in Denver, I guess I was a little sticker shocked when I saw that it was $3 a can in Breck. If you are looking for good, CHEAP, & Americanized Mexican food, Rita's is the place to hit. read more

After having a couple marg's and taco's with some friends we asked for our check which came out to $73 rounding up with an additional $10 tip. I apologized as it is very slightly under the 15% that is considered customary as everyone in my group had just had to pay rent. By his demeanor he intentionally withheld giving back my friends credit card to hassle us. After we realized we did not have the card we went back in and inquired about it. His response was to give him 5 minutes. After ignoring us for the amount of time it took him to check on every table in the joint he walked up to the register and without looking procured the card and handed it to us with a jibe of "When you tip shitty you get shitty service huh?" I waiver between 3 and 4 stars but ultimately decided on 4 stars due to the charm, character and specials Ritas had going on. The vibe was more local, the crowd was younger and the grub was reasonably priced. Although when we first sat down, our waiter warned us of slow service, I really didn't find it too cumbersome...we weren't in rush, we had drinks and good company so waiting 15-20 minutes for our tacos really didn't bother me. To me, the overall feeling of this place is chill mountain bar with some tasty ritas and tacos. Pretty average place. It is a bit of a dive (not really in a dirty way...just super casual). Went here for lunch and prices were cheap. Everyone at the table got burritos. I got the fish burrito...I forget which style but it had refried beans with it and corn. I didn't like how the fish was at one end of the burrito and the refried beans were at the other end of the burrito. The fish was also not good quality. It wasn't really flaky, just kind of rubbery. The corn was evenly distributed though. It was pretty bland altogether and the burritos didn't come with any salsa on the side (or chips), so I smothered it with hot sauce. I ordered an avocado dip on the side which was not like guacamole but similar. It was more like chopped avocado and wasn't really flavored lime-y like guacamole. I love avocado, so I was happy it was fresh but as a dip it didn't really do anything for me. My favorite part was probably the salsa and chips appetizer. I was annoyed though because the waiter didn't ask which salsas we wanted - you get to choose 3 out of like 7 - and just put random ones (he ran away before we had a chance to say it ourselves). It was the pico de gallo, hot salsa, and I think the pineapple salsa that they gave us. The first two were delicious and fresh but the pineapple salsa was too sweet and strange. I would have chosen the salsa verde instead, but didn't get the chance :( Probably wouldn't go here again. This place is a favorite when we visit breckenridge. The house margarita is really good and always a good sized pour. They also use orange juice which I have never had in a marg before but it's really good. We first went because I was craving queso and ended up loving all the food. My husband and I stopped in for dinner, it was a cozy atmosphere, we sat at the Bar as the place was packed, it turns out we were glad we did. The bartenders were making house margaritas from scratch as they were squeezing each, orange, lime and lemon in front of our eyes. Definitely a DIVE bar! I went here with my wife one evening for a drink. Walked in and sort of felt out of place. Quite a raucous crowd I would say. So we sat at the bar and drank about two margaritas, which were pretty good, and then some drunk ass locals started throwing beer bottles and shot glasses against the ground and then a fight broke out. It was crazy to say the least. The bar owner kicked EVERYONE out! I would too! Anyways, haven't had the food but the drinks were good. As a visitor, you'll probably feel intimidated going in here. Another time we came in, some local chick just started an argument with my brother and my brother is super normal. Think she was weird and drunk. Great little spot for cheap happy hour tacos and marg's. Can get pretty crowded but if you get there right at 4 you won't have any problems. They have an awesome salsa bar with freshly made salsa everyday and it's a really nice touch. The Marg's are great with lime juice squeezed fresh to order. They also have a great selection of tequila's to choose from. The only drawback to this place is that it's basically a basement which sucks when the weather is nice--especially when the deck and horseshoe pit upstairs at Kenosha are bumping. But for most of the year when it's snowing and crappy, this place is as good as any to get a good cheap afternoon buzz and grub on. read more
