I have eaten at Rito's several times, great food, great drinks, flaming margarita's are a hit but their service is absolutely terrible. Wait to get seated, once you are seated wait some more to get your drink orders in, drink orders take forever, wait a little bit more to order your food. God forbid you need a waiter to bring you another round of drinks or even just a glass of water or some extra napkins. Want your bill, be prepared to wait and wait and wait for that too. This is solid 4 star quality authentic mexican food but the service is 1 star. The owner needs to crack the whip on his staff and teach them about service. read more

Just like everyone else's reviews stated this place doesn't look like much from the outside. It's in a strip mal for Pete's sake but the food is fantastic. It's authentic Mexican food with chihuahua cheese...no Tex Mex crap at this joint. I had three tacos with chicken and beef. Upon request they added the freshest avocado too. DELICIOUS! We went for a late lunch around 1:30pm on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. It wasn't busy and the service was great. They kept bringing a refill of chips so I think I ate 2 baskets. The salsa is ok. They bring out a green salsa that I didn't try (can't do green salsa) and a red kinda soupy salsa that was pretty hot. It was good. The chips are not too thin or too thick. Perfect. The Corona Light was cold. :) The server was attentive. Each meal is served with refried beans and mexican rice. The beans are fantastic!! A Mexican friend once told me you can always judge a Mexican restaurant by their beans and this has proven to be true time and time again. Mmmmmm. There are two 46" flat screen TVS so it's adequate for watching a game but not exactly a Buffalo Wild Wings. The chairs are very straight back=not the most comfortable. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous to try this place based on some previous reviews. But so glad we did! Had a great dinner with our family of 6. They do a nice job accommodating kids with a nice kids menu. Small quarter slot machines available for toys for the kiddos too. We tried the burrito sumbrosa, enchiladas, taco salad and tacos. I was torn between a 3 and 4 star review. We pass this place everyday since moving to the area about a year ago. We do not go out to eat often but decided it was time to try this joint after hearing such awesome things. We originally were supposed to have 6 people in our party. My boyfriend and I showed up first and thought we would get a table. The hostess said she couldn't seat us until our entire party showed up. I could understand that, as we walked in right in front of three parties. Eventually the hostess sat us at a 4 top and said we could move to the 6 top next to us when the current people had left. Turns out one of the couples had to cancel so it was just four of us, so we stayed at our original table. We ordered the tableside guacamole, which was fantastic! The gentleman who was making it was very friendly and asked us exactly how we wanted it; spicy or not spicy, lots of onions or light onions etc. The chips and two salsas were also great! I am a fan of a smoother salsa vs. chunky salsa so I really liked both of these. We had heard that we must order the flaming margarita, which is a normal medium sized margarita with added alcohol that they light on fire and pour into your glass. I am not entirely sure exactly what was in the flaming part, I would assume maybe Bacardi 151 or the like. I had heard from multiple people that you will not be able to drive home after one of these margs. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't feel much after drinking the entire thing. After receiving our bill and see the hefty $14 price tag, I was even more disappointed. For $14, I should be a bit more drunk. Now onto the food. I ordered the beef tacos, with no tomato. I was expecting the tacos to come with the beef, cheese and lettuce, as described on the menu. I received my meal with carrots, onions and what looked like celery on the tacos. I hate onions so I had the task of picking those out. I also thought it was just weird that they were not as described on the menu. Overall they were very tasty, along with the refried beans and rice. Overall the food is very good. Disappointed in the margarita but I will definitely come back to have another try, as sometimes restaurants have off nights. read more

I'm a big fan. I haven't had a bad dish here and have tried a lot of the menu. The service can be slow during peak hours. Rito does it all - cooks, serves, tends bar...and he'll spend time talking to the customers making everyone feel welcome. The pastor tacos are ok. That's about the only item I won't order again. The mole sauce is very good - certainly better than most. The chairs are very uncomfortable which we avoid by sitting in the bar. My son and I went here the other day since it's close to his house and we were both set for some Mexican food. It was early afternoon on a Sunday. They weren't busy nor slow, severing about a half dozen tables total. My son had the tamale platter, which looked moist and appetizing to me, and he agreed that it was good. I had the al pastor taco platter. I was happy with the quality of the meat, as well as how well trimmed it was. Another plus for me was that there were no chunks of pineapple in it, which is an automatic thumbs down for me. However, I was surprised that it was really just lacking overall flavor. Not bad, not good, just not there. I'm not sure how you accomplish this with a marinated, spit roasted piece of meat. The tortillas were white corn and fried. Again, I prefer the yellow but can be satisfied with white. All in all, I would go back if the situation presented itself again. I won't go out of my way for a special trip just to eat here though. read more

Check your bill. They over charged my bill from what the menu price list items. guacamole s listed on the menu as $7.95, however, my i was charged $8.36, margarita listed at $13.95 on the menu and my bill listed it at $14.26...every thing was marked higher. It's fraudulent to have a price on the menu and then when you get your bill, everything is a higher price including the margaritas. They said if you pay cash, they would give you a 4% discount, however, your bill is already marked higher. Not going back and telling everyone. I hate being taken advantage of. read more

Ritos has become one of our favorite Mexican places and it's hard to try some of the other Mexican places around the Naperville area because I fear it won't match up to Ritos. Only one word is necessary to describe the food at this place - RIDICULOUS! The Tacos are cooked to order and flavor filled. Personally the "al pastor" are in a class all their own. The green sauce is so good, i've asked for extra to take home so I can put it on other dishes. From the food, to the drinks, to the atmosphere, to the amazing Señior Rito himself (who is one of the most friendly and genuine restaurant owners I've ever met), if you live within a decent vicinity of Rt 59 & Montgomery Rd, this place is a must! Prices are fair, food is fresh, the $5 mega margaritas on Thursdays are tasty and strong (get there early, Thursdays = long waits & standing room only). Absolutely start out with the freshly made guac when the cart is wheeled over to your table. And make sure to visit for birthday celebrations. Rito is known (99% of the time) to trot out with a staff-parade who are shaking maracas, singing and clapping, while Rito slaps a hilariously gigantic sombrero onto your head, tilts you back, and pours a tequila shot into your mouth while restaurant on-lookers cheer and smile. The only "negative" (which isn't even that, it just needs to be made a forewarning to the impatient diners)... Rito's is a laid back place! Doesn't matter if it's lunch or dinner, weekend or not. If you're in a rush, don't even bother. First time at Rito's and it was amazing. The margaritas were very delicious. The large was HUGE in size. Totally worth the price. The fresh guacamole was so yummy as well. I had the shrimp fajitas. The shrimp was plump and tasty, full of flavor. The waiters & waitstaff were very attentive. We never had to ask for refills or anything - they were always on top of it. Well, we ignored Rito's despite living just down the road from it for over a year. It is easy to dismiss being situated in an odd amalogm of paint stores and cat clinics. Well, skipping it for so long was such a mistake. For 'what it is' they do a terrific job. Nice, neighborhood, family-friendly mexican restaurant. The food is solid. Great mole enchiladas. Other standards (tacos, burritos) all good. Tasty (if not incredible) margaritas. The owner (Rito) makes several visits around the dining room in a friendly, but not intrusive fashion. Great place to hang out on a Friday or Saturday evening and you never feel rushed. Not overly fancy - tables with some wooden benches. Beer signs on the walls. I went in not sure what to expect because there has been some mixed reviews. I was pleasantly surprised! To start the service was wonderful. The whole dining room was full (we got the 2nd to last table) and we never had to wait on our waiter. When he was at our table he did not show he was in a rush and was friendly & helpful. The food was tasty & fresh. The salsas were both spicy and full of flavor. The chips were thick, which is not my favorite but they complimented the salsas well. We ordered an appetizer of Queso Fundido. It was a huge helping and had a wonderful blend of cheese, chorizo, mushrooms and veggies. Delicious! We then split the Acapulco Combo. The skirt steak was grilled perfectly and smelled & tasted great! The enchilada & taco were both good & typical of what you would get at most Mexican restaurants. The rice & beans that came with it were lacking in much flavor but nothing that ruined the dish. I have heard amazing things about the guacamole & margaritas. This is an awesome place. I highly recommend the table side guacamole. If you're going to dine in get there a little before 5 because they tend to get crowded quickly between 5-5:30. They've got amazing margaritax!! My favorite is the mango margarita. I also like the Acapulco combination, it comes with a little bit of everything and a nice grilled flank steak and you can make your own steak tacos or just eat the meat plain. That's how I eat it. My husband loves the chicken molehere. I used to cook it for my family, since it's just my husband & I now, there's no sense on making that big of a meal, so I nolo Germany make it, it's just too much food for 1 person.
