Love the burgers at river City Cafe. My golf group usually goes there after we play...Love the Open Faced burger on Texas Toast!

Ocean view seating was nice, and some of the food we got was good. But otherwise, no bueno. I get the whole peanut shells on the floor feel, but the restaurant was down right dirty. Sticky menus, sticky and dirty tables, floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. Our waitress was good, but she was very new, and the hostess made the mistake of giving her a 14 top table. Not the best way to learn the server trade. The onion rings were mediocre. Bigger is not always better. I hope the other restaurants in this chain are not as bad as River City. But, I personally will not be finding out. read more

As always the food and service were amazing. We went to the restaurant around 1pm on the 4th of July and although it was busy in there the food came out in a timely manner and service was great. The outside dining has great views and a cool breeze making it very enjoyable out there. The Burger I had was INSANE. read more

Do not recommend this one at all. Food was cold when it was brought out, food was not made correctly. Waitress did not provide good service. Seemed like she hated her job. A major water leak in kitchen coming from the ceiling. Did not have ice for drinks so they were room temperature. Bathrooms were absolutely disgusting, toilets looked like they haven't been cleaned in a very long time. Over all very disappointed. read more

They have right side up burgers and upside down burgers and singles and doubles and different buns and all kinds of cheese and toppings and even a Kitchen Sink burger ($13) that must be a foot high and a Cardiologist's wet dream. So take my subtle hint and order a burger! Next are the onion rings and they are the best on the planet. People Magazine should do a cover- "Most Beautiful Onion Rings in the World!" Five of these bad boys will cost you $4.99. Every bite is pure calorie laden heaven. You can have any adult libation you want here, especially beer. Whatever you drink, its purpose is to wash down the cholesterol! As you eat and drink yourself into a stupor, enjoy the killer view. A fellow Yelper said this place has a Key Westish divey bar feel and that is the perfect term. Plan on spending a while here because the service can be spotty. When it gets really busy, which is often, the servers and kitchen lose control and the wait can be annoying. If it wasn't for the spotty service I'd go four stars but because of that I need to say three. If you visit MB and don't come here your body may thank you but your spirit will be forever diminished. read more

We've been wanting to try River City after eating at and loving one of their sister restaurants, Bubba's Fish Shack, which is located across the street. We went at 11 o'clock sharp right at opening. We got an outside table right away. They were out of several things including all salads. We ordered the "cheese pops" (curds) for an appetizer and they were awesome! One of my favorite eats our entire vacation. We got two burgers and popcorn shrimp for our son. It was all good, no complaints. We will be back next vacation! read more

In on business and the restaurant was nearby my hotel. Greeted with very friendly staff. Sat at the bar and was greeted with a warm smile by Sammy. Fantastic service. Great feel to the place right on the beach. Now to the food- I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was hot, juicy, and absolutely delicious. FULL of flavor. The sweet potato fries were remarkable. A very pleasant experience with mouth watering food. Will return next time I'm this way. read more

Worked up an appetite having to wait for a table. You would think the long wait would be worth it. NOT! When we finally were seated the the table was so nasty my kids played with the menus sticking to it. Ordered an appetizer and 4 burgers. Lost appetite waiting between appetizer and meal. Somewhere around 45 mins. Waitress gave us (at my request) the 2 burgers that were ready. They had been sitting so long the fries could replace the ice in the drinks as was the meat. It took another 10 mins for the other 2 burgers. Flavor was mediocre. Definitely not worth the $74.00 bill. Asked to speak to the manager and the hostess told me she didn't know where he was. Obvious they don't care about customer service since they just have vacationers for customers. read more

Great burger joint with a view. The atmosphere is extremely loud if you are sitting inside to eat. There are plenty of options to eat...burgers, chicken, wings. The onion rings are a popular choice and are really good. The staff was friendly and our service was good. They told us approx 25 min wait on a Friday at 4pm, but we were seated in about 15 min. read more

Should be ashamed for how their parking situation is handled. Parked where we have a hundred times and where it is as clear as day labeled river city parking, only to come out to a boot and $250 dollar fine. Absolutely ridiculous considering there is no clear labeling outside the restaurant at night to make sure this is notated. We have come here for years now but WONT be back because of this nonsense. Not that it matters because we know our dollars won't be missed but just want other to beware of the disgusting money making tactics. read more

A cheeseburger with a view!! This was a great spot to grab a cheeseburger at the beach. The food was reasonably priced and it is right on the ocean. I had the cheeseburger with pimento cheese on it, and it was a great choice as it had the perfect flavor. The service was great and there was no wait when we visited. We were seated in the outdoor section on the third floor - an awesome view overlooking the ocean! It was busy so service was a little slow, but not more than should be expected for a Saturday during prime dinner time. We love this chain & their creative menu. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. The menu has a large selection of burgers and the burgers themselves are so juicy and moist. Good price for the amount of food you get! I recommend the fried zucchini as an appetizer, best zucchini I've ever had. Also the Ranchero BLT burger is a solid choice. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you get here. When going for a local burger, this is the place to go. The staff is polite and friendly. Their burgers are just delicious, and they'll put anything you want on them (nearly). My glass of sweet tea is never empty, and when I leave, they ask if I'd like a fill up to take with me. The onion rings are home made, and my preference is for thinner ones, but these are huge, about 1 inch thick! There is outdoor seating on the second story with a phenomenal view of the ocean. I love this burger place and will be back. 5/4/2016. Poor service by waitstaff. We walked out. Plenty of other places to eat and spend our money. I reduced to two stars as this was the first time my husband ever suggested that we leave. First time here...... did not disappoint. I ordered the peanut butter and mayo burger..... sweet lord it was a symphony in my mouth. I never would have imagined that combo would be tasty. My brother in law ordered the OMG burger.... it was bigger than his head. The whole family was extremely satisfied with the food. Our view from the third floor dinning area was of the ocean and the breeze off the ocean was enjoyable. Liked the decor and atmosphere. All in all we really loved it and would defiantly eat here again when we are back in South Carolina. read more

The parking can be a challenge. When you get in, go up to the third floor, great view of the ocean. River City Cafe is a MB tradition for us. I love this location and Murrells Inlet, they pour stiff drinks and are local and friendly, not so much at Barefoot (just fyi). My wife always goes for a Nacho Burger, she loves them and actually plans to hit this spot at least once on every vacation trip. This time, I went with the Cheetos Crunch with bacon, as usual, perfect! The fries are always crunchy, which I love. Fried mushrooms are big as hell, go for it with avocado ranch, which rocks!!!!! read more

We come the River City every year. We tried several days to get here during Covid only to find long wait times. I called in and found they only had about 10 tables without the 3rd floor open. I can understand as the dining areas have always been pretty tight. We went early and only had a 45 min wait. Service was great. Burgers were outstanding as always. It was a perfect evening as well. Be patient with them, they are doing their best getting people in and out under the circumstances. read more

We come here every year and it never disappoints. Be prepared to get the meat sweats after though because it is a LOT of food.
