River Falls Restaurant is a bright spot in Woonsocket and a great reason to visit this northern Rhode Island mill city. My parents swear that the fried clam platter is better than any other place in the state. Frankly, I am all about the Ma Glockner's chicken dinner (Sundays only). I used to go to the original Ma Glockner's in Bellingham (I know. I'm aging myself here) and River Falls version is just as good which makes a lot of people very happy. The sticky bun that comes with the berched chicken makes it worth ordering this Sunday special. Birched chicken, by the way, is a process for cooking chicken that makes it crispy on the outside but moist and falling off the bone on the inside. The owners of River Falls are clearly smart marketers: they also bought the recipe and brand name of the El Dorado cut prime rib made famous by the El Dorado Restaurant that used to exist in Woonsocket. The prime rib is delicious and available Thursday through Sunday. My husband and I just enjoyed the Tuesday dinner all-you-can-eat Shrimp Lollapalooza for $13.99. Yes, it's true. There are 20 different shrimp entrees to choose from and you can keep on ordering as many as you can eat. We started with the shrimp Caesar salad and my husband then had the baked stuff shrimp and I had the lime and margarita shrimp. And that was all we could manage - but still, it was fun and filling. River Falls has nightly specials, burgers, entrees and some fabulous desserts. The atmosphere is casual but nice - it's in an old mill building that was smartly renovated to leave the massive stone walls exposed. There's a good-sized bar an adjacent night club if that's your thing for later in the evening. I docked them one star because parking can be challenging (although they sometimes have valet; call ahead to check); it can be a bit noisy (I think it's the design); and sometimes you're sent upstairs where a staircase seems to be the only option (rather than an elevator). Even living in Providence with so many fantastic restaurants, we visit River Falls regularly. It's just a great place with good prices. You can't go wrong. read more

Just went to this resturant for Mother's Day and had a party of 20 people, family flew in from all over the country to spend with our mom on this special day! The hostess was absolutely wonderful and made us feel really special and was so welcoming that I knew we had picked the right resturant. Sad to say the service went down hill the minute we were seated. First the waiter told us he could not spit the checks up by family after we were told that they can accommodate several checks. So after several conservations with the waiter we decided to ask for a manager. The manager came over ask did not ask any questions and just clearly explained the policy, she was very rude and unapologetic, she did not even introduce herself! I had to ask her name which was Tara. The service was horrible and the food okay at best. Will never go to this resturant again, never! read more

A few months ago my husband and I came here with my parents for dinner. It was great. The decor was relaxing and comfortable and the food and service were great. The only complaint we had was the parking was difficult since there weren't many spots, but if that was the only thing wrong we would have dealt with it. So fast forward to now, and we chose this restaurant to celebrate my moms birthday since we had such a nice time at our last visit. Again the parking stunk, but we dropped my parents off at the door and parked a mile away. That's fine, we were expecting this. We had a reservation and they took is right in, and seated us at a nice table. My husband was disappointed that the pizza was taken off of the menu as an appetizer, but we understand that sometimes menus change ans we get over it. No big deal. We ordered the calamari with no hot peppers please (a person at the table is sensitive to spicy foods) and the nachos for appetizers. When the server brought the calamari she said "Oh, sorry..they dumped the hot peppers all over the calamari, is that OK? Can you guys just pick them out? Or do you want me do bring it down to the kitchen and they can pick out the hot peppers?" This doesn't sound too appetizing to us and she didn't offer a new order to be made, it wasn't an option! Knowing the nature of banana peppers everyone knows that the spicy juice gets all over everything, so the person that was sensitive to spicy foods wouldn't be able to have any. OK we agree to just have her leave the calamari, and let it slide but we aren't too happy about it. We thought she shouldn't have even brought it to the table, the order was wrong she should have corrected it and just informed us that the kitchen made the order wrong and they were making a new appetizer for us, but no and, no apology from the server at this point either. Our dinners come, and things are just messed up. My dad ordered the prime rib dinner 20 oz and I ordered the same thing. There was a marked difference in the sizes of our cuts of meat, when we informed the server of this she she didn't know what to do so her solution was to bring my dads cut of meat to the kitchen. Upon her return she had the same cut of meat and said that the chef weighed it, and while its not 20 oz, if he finished that he would send out more. REALLY? Treating a grown man like a child "Eat that and you an have more!" This isn't an all-you-can-eat place! How silly! We thought the chef should have added a piece of meat to make up the difference, or cut a new piece of meat. When I tell you it was the fattiest piece of meat either of us have ever eaten in our lives. The sides of mashed potatoes and butternut squash that came with our dinner was ice cold. My moms baked potato was cold (How can a baked potato get cold, they stay hot forever!) and my husbands steak tips had none of the Jack Daniel's sauce that was supposed to come on them. We had to keep asking for refills on our soda, like we were bothering our server. When it was time to wrap up our leftovers, the server brought the smallest container I have ever seen (One for maybe half a hamburger) for my husband and I to share. She squished his buffalo chicken and steak tips on top of my prime rib and could barely close the top. I know she had larger containers to choose from because I saw one at another table. We had a 5:00 reservation, there were some tables filled when we got there, but mostly the crowd was at the bar, it wasn't crazy busy and certainly no reason to receive the service that we received. This place isn't super expensive but it isn't cheap, and for the price I expected a better dinner. I didn't want to complain to the manager, because I didn't want to make a scene and it was my moms birthday, at this point we just wanted to out of there. This was the worst dining experience. We wanted to try the new patio by the river. I wanted a table out of the sun but couldn't be accommodated. The music was so loud. The bar was very limited. They didn't bring me anything to put my lobster shells in, nor could they provide me with a fork. And to top it all off they were all out of the dessert I ordered. First visit to River Falls was a very good experience. All you can eat prime rib was a good choice. Our prime rib was cooked to perfection. The staff was very attentive and very accommodating. I went with my wife and my daughter today Saturday June 22 for brunch. The hostess seemed clueless. She first seemed to ignore us. The restaurant was virtually empty except for the bar and maybe 20% seated guests but we waited about 10 minutes before she seemed to finally regain consciousness. Before that a waitress appeared and asked us if we were being served and when the host reappeared she reminded her that we were next in line. She remained silent and my wife got up to be recognized she finally looked as if she was going to help us. I stood up and asked the hostess why we had waited at all since the restaurant was virtually empty and she said they only had a few servers at the moment. That seems irrelevant since she is a hostess and I believe her only job is to seat guests. She said that we could sit at a table now and I responded that typically when you go to a restaurant it is the host that finds you a table, at which juncture she said she will take us to a table and proceeded to do so. After seating us she departed with an unmistakably snippy "Enjoy". It was then I decided to leave. Obviously she was not interested in our patronage. This is horrendous service. read more

When told I was going to Rhode Island on business, I was hesitant, especially on food. This was a place I tried my second night here, and picked it randomly from a Google search of restaurants the hotel recommended (picked it out of 25 listed). Got a filet and shrimp and it did not disappoint. The food here in Rhode Island has exceeded expectations, especially at river falls. They were closing soon (which I didn't know until I arrived) and was nervous about the food so close to closing time (I've worked in restaurants for years, I know how it goes when trying to leave for the night). Food was excellent, staff was friendly. Will definitely come back if In the area again. read more

If I could give no stars I would after my last experience! I went a few weeks ago... Service was great, food was great....but my last experience was awful. The server was new which is total fine but it took her 10 minutes to come over to us to get our drink order and when she finally got the order it took her 5 tries to get it right.... Which my drink still wasn't right I ordered a glass of red wine and got a bottle of white wine at first and then ended up with a bottle of red, that I ended up keeping because I couldn't bear to tell her again it wasn't what I ordered. Someone else at my table wanted the dinner for two special and got a glass of wine first and corrected the server that it was the dinner for two bottle of wine that she wanted. And as the poor new server kept making mistakes the owner was just sitting at the bar drinking and definitely had an idea of what was going on because he kept looking over to our table. Next up dinner... After the drink fiasco we finally placed our dinner order. And that didn't come out right either. I received the wrong dish for dinner so I sent it back with the food runner. The server came over and apologized explaining she was still new and it would be a few minutes for my dinner. Which it's fine if you're new but if you keep making mistakes then maybe the restaurant should train their new servers better. Or better yet have the manager come over to the table to address the 8 mistakes that took place. But that didn't happen. AWFUL MANAGEMENT. And when I finally received the correct dinner it wasn't even good. It was over cooked. This place sucks I am so disappointed because it was so good a few weeks ago. I will not be back. read more

Made a reservation for 7:30 with the intention of checking out the restaurant to have an event at River Falls. We arrived and were greeted by 2 lackluster hostesses who between the two of them did not crack a smile or offer a "How are you. Welcome to...." They did say it would be a few minutes to set our table. After waiting for 10 minutes, my husband inquisitively looked at the hostess and before he could question her, she said "Are you looking for something...." After 15 minutes, we were remembered and told that a table was being cleaned. The service was really slow, some of the food was okay and some not. Some things were cold and some warm. We ordered 2 burgers and the server did not ask "how to " cook them and they came out burnt. After discussing our "burger" problem with the waiter, he went to find the manager. Some time later, the waiter came to tell us that the manager would take the burgers off our bill. ( The manager never actually spoke with us.) I've eaten at a lot of restaurants and the manager's lack of involvement tells me a few things: 1) he gets these kinds of complaints a lot; 2) he's so preoccuppied with so many things that the common complaint is inconsequential to him and therefore the individual customer can be ignored; and 3) the owners should beware because once the staff know that management doesn't care what happens to the typical customer than most customers will soon be treated carelessly and with disregard. Although the site was generelly nice as well as the bar and pool room, I wouldn't go there to eat again. The food was less than mediocre and the service a little better than a trip to the DMV. read more

Went to enjoy some nightlife. Nice place but a very young crowd. Dance floor was packed like sardines...hard to dance.

I come here to see a few live bands I like. I've had the food a few times and each time it's been great! The drinks arent bad eithier. It's a cool, laid back place and probably the only bar I will go to in Woonsocket that I feel comfortable. The service is good but usually when I come here it's on a weekend and they only seem to have one waitress for the whole downstairs and most of the time it's the same one. I forgot her name and she is great but you should have someone else helping out too! Its not fair to her or other tables that might have slower service because shes rushing around. Other than that the place is fun and not that far from where I live which is awesome. read more

My wife and I have tried this restaurant out at different times and in the dinning room and bar. Have had wonderful meals and all has met or gone above our hopes. Great size plates, great taste, very friendly service staff. The El Dorado Prime Rib, though It does not have the bone in as advertised, is great. Wonderful taste all through. I had my daughter's shower at River Falls and I could not have been happier. Everyone I dealt with was so professional and courteous. The food was fabulous and the piano bar was a perfect place for a shower. Some friends and I went there to hang out last week for drinks and we were pretty surprised by the crowd. Its a nice mixture of woonsocket's finewst to put it kindly. People were throwing things and spitting from the top floor and the bathrooms were disgusting. The service was ok but we did not eat. Definitely not my kind of place. read more

For my first time coming to River Falls the food was not that bed. Their nachos were good. The service was terrible. After we got our meals, which took 45 minutes to come out, our waiter did not come to our table to check on how the food tasted. We also asked for extra napkins and Ketchup for fries and we did not get either of those. If the service was better, I would have had a better experience here. read more

Horrible customer service. There was about 10tables with people seated at them, so not very busy at all. We sat down the waitress came right over and started talking to my one year old. She then took our order. We waited about an hour before complaining about where our food was. And we ordered prime rib medium rare and steak tips rare. She came over told us that she was going to check on it. About 20 minutes went by then we asked again they said they had the manager on it and that they would be right up. Another table who sat down a half hour after us order prime rib too and got there food before us. So we walked out worst service ever. read more

The hostesses were very nice by greeting me and my family on Mother's Day, but that was the only good thing. The rest of the service was horrible. The lady manager, Tara, would not allow us to do separate checks. She wasn't really that friendly, either. She sounded like she owned the place. Our waiter didn't show himself personable, either. It took about an hour to get our food, and when it did come, it wasn't that great! The chicken was dry, the French fries were dried up, and the shells with pasta had to be doused with Parmesan cheese to taste good. To make matters worse, another family that came after us got their food before us. That was very disrespectful! At least we were able to have fun, though, despite the distasteful food. Something needs to be done about the food, attitudes from people, and how long the food takes to come out. Otherwise, this place needs to be shut down! read more

Went to Cityside for drinks on a very slow Saturday night. The bartender Becca put drinks on my tab that I did not order. Mind you everytime I've been in here the bartender has absolutely NO personality. When I told her I only ordered two beers, she wanted me to figure out who at my table got the drinks that were on my tab. Her job as bartender is to be sure the right drinks go on the right tab...my other friends name is Sarah also so that May have confused becca. But as a bartender she should be asking last names not first names. She didn't apologize, she grabbed my card right off the counter and just swiped it without even saying a word to me not even the new price she was charging me. So I proceeded to not tip her. Her next step is what sent me over the edge and I will never be returning back to Cityside. She went over to the bouncer and complained to him about how I didn't tip her. Once again as a bartender your job is to have a bubbly personality and customer service skills. Will not be returning to Cityside simply because of Becca. read more

If I could I would have given zero stars. I've eaten here many times, and find that service is hit and miss. But this past Father's Day was the last time. Arrived for 3pm reservation with 7 adults and baby. Seated fairly quickly. Sat with menus for at least 15 minutes without any server even taking drink orders. I spoke with a random server and complained that no one had come over and was told someone would be there quickly. No one showed up. Other large party seated after us already had given drink orders. I got up and found a server and asked to speak immediately to the manager. No one showed up. Just as we were about to get up and leave, a server approached to "explain" that we had accidentally been seated in the wrong section and that's why we "didn't have a server". What??? So they screwed up and we're sitting there? Just as we were leaving the assistant manager finally showed up. I told her what was going on and how angry we all were, and how this "service" was unacceptable. She completely agreed--and then did nothing!! She did not offer anything whatsoever as compensation, even though one of our party specifically asked! She merely said someone could take our order now "if we still wanted to stay". Needless to say, we got up and left. All told, we had waited 30 minutes without one bit of service and indifferent treatment by the so-called manager. Absolutely unacceptable behavior! It's a large restaurant and they do great business, so I'm sure they won't miss us; but I will never set foot in there again. read more

I have never written a review before. I don't know where to start. I spent 3 hours here because the service was so slow. I ordered the family style chicken, and the chicken and fries were both very dry. The cinnamon bun that came with the meal was crusty and inedible. We then made the mistake of ordering dessert. It took an hour for dessert to come from the time we ordered. When the cookie I ordered finally came it was crusty and burnt. Not to mention that they messed up everybody's order at the table, bringing all the wrong desserts, and one person never even received a dessert. The waitress repeatedly lied to us about what the delay was, citing the kitchen, falling and dropping the deserts, and even blamed the delay on infighting between her co workers. Our waitress was extremely unprofessional and lacked the basic ability to serve a table. Then the check came, and everything was messed up, with things on the check we never ordered. After we complained we had a couple desserts taken off the check as well as the items we never ordered. And if you think her gratuity would reflect the service received your wrong, as they tack on a mandatory 22% tip to your bill. Avoid this place at all costs read more

Have been going here since they introduced trivia on Friday nights about 8 weeks ago. This will be our last ! We arrived to be told we couldn't sit in a booth because the servers can only have 4 tables at a time. Ok, but there were 7 booths opened. Sorry, there will be a 15 minute wait. Yes, but trivia starts in a few minutes, sorry.... A male server said I will take them but the lovely hostess was putting us in a very small , dark table instead ( our punishment). Finally we found 2 seats at the bar. I asked to see the manager (Jen) who did talk with me. She said that was their policy to only have a server get 4 tables/booths. Perhaps if you didn't want to wait you should have left, REALLY ! We had a drink and a meal , never received a setup, my husband went to a table and got them. The managers never asked if everything was OK. Now I am steaming and I talked to a male manager, "oh yeah Morgan told me about this." Really and you still couldn't ask if everything was OK. Received an envelope for our next visit , we opened it on our way home knowing we would never return. It was for a free entrée, you couldn't pay me to go here again. What a disappointment tonight at River Falls. My husband and I have been going here for the last few years on a weekly basis and we won't be going Back anytime soon. The place was an ice box to start with we ordered our food I ordered the steak tips and stuff shrimp (my Birthday Dinner) with sweet potato. The waitress brought me baked potato and fried shrimp. When we told her the order was wrong she apologized and returned ten minutes later while my husband was almost finished his dinner and said here's your sweet potato & what you ordered isn't on the menu it comes with fried shrimp. I asked her to get the menu showed her it was on the menu and she disappeared. She came back apologized and I just requested the bill because my husband was finished his meal. Ten minutes later a manager came over said she was new and people make mistakes. I get it I make plenty but instead of just apologizing comping the entire dinner and be done with it she took mine off the bill (no big accommodations I didn't eat it) and brought the bill that was incorrect because there was a beer on it that he didn't get...We didn't go out tonight looking for a free meal just a date to celebrate my Birthday The manager was condescending while loyal to her employee forgot about the customer I don't need a lecture from her she never asked once how they could make us happy and turn it around see ya River Falls read more

After discussing going out for dinner Easter or staying in . We decided to go to River Falls. We called hoping for a reservation cancellation but their weren't any . They said the bar was available . That's fine with me .So me and my girlfriend headed to woonsocket. We were seated at the bar.We eachad the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer.It was chilled just right. The drinks as usual consistent . We both had the Lamb with a squash for our vegetable. We were disappointed !!!!!!!. The Lamb was so so dry , and the squash had more brown sugar than its suppose to. Now I love this place . The Prime Rib is fantastic!!!! And so is a lot of their other menu items. The Bartenders and waitstaff are great. The Bottom line is its a very good restaurant . I think the kitchen should've cooked the lamb spaciously because of the all day seating! They always have good bands next door that we enjoy. Keep up the good work and let's stick to what we know. this was a fantastic night to remember! looking to have a great friday night? love melt in your mouth prime rib? this is the place. i had their friday night special prime rib + sides and i never tasted anything so good! did not expect it to be that good. after all it was a special for only $9.99 per person. i went in thinking that it would probably taste like a leather shoe sole but man! was i surprised. you have to taste it to believe it! for that price how can you go wrong. i have been there for dinner about 4 times already and i am on a tight budget that's why i jumped at this friday night special. i will surely be back again and again! service was exceptional! this is my god honest opinion you will not find a better deal in ri. go for it! enjoy! tell others!!!! support this honest business for it's wonderful deal and that is just the beginning never mind my the rest of the menu it is to die for!!! have a great summer! read more

Charged us for table cloths - wouldn't let us bring our own. We got charged 20% gratuity on everything including the table cloths and tax. 20% for WHAT ? Serving coffee? Are you kidding me ? They didn't even serve the food. The 20% was not justified and this place is not worth the 20%. Oh yeah! make sure the expectant mother gets to her own baby shower by a certain time or you will charged you for lunch not breakfast as you originally booked and sent the invitations for. $11.95 per person for breakfast is bad enough but add all of the extras - gratuity, table clothes, etc.... And the net cost is $16.08 per person for breakfast. Not a bargain in my mind. Hind sight is 20/20 but we should have rented a hall and had it catered for half the money and not be rushed out "for the next party". If want to get a good value for your money go elsewhere. We hit Cityside because we knew the band. We were told there was no cover, at the door we were greeted with a "bouncer" that was rude and said it was a $5.00 cover. We questioned it and he cont. to be belligerent and rude....we paid the $10.00, less than 10 minutes later our friend arrived and paid no cover. We inquired why we were charged. During our conversation the "bouncer" exhibited a belligerent attitude. Both sides were not open to honest communication. We were threatened that the police would be called due to the bouncer not wanting to have honest communication. We spoke with the manager Stacey, who told us they inadvertently charged a cover and should not have. Our money was reimbursed. We stayed the night only to experience very poor bar service...the 2 new bartenders could not keep up with a slow crowd, they pretty much ignored patrons and made no eye contact.
