I've been going to River Oaks for a little over a year now. Last October I threw my back out when I lazily bent over and twisted when picking up my two year old. I was in excruciating pain and had constant spams for days. The anti-inflammatory meds and muscle relaxers just weren't doing it for me. Most other places will charge you upwards of $70 just for the alignment but here you can get massage and electric pulse therapy included for under $50 and if you go for the four visit bundle you can save more. Not a chiropractor, just a massage place. Seriously, no advice and no attention from the doctor. If you want a nice atmosphere and an OK massage, then this place is for you. If you have real problems that need addressing, you should go somewhere else. I've learned my lesson and not going back. I agree with some of the yelpers here. The staff is awesome - very attentive, friendly, and professional. The 10 min hot-pack is very relaxing, the 15-min massage is awesome - the masseuses really work out the muscles and loosen the knots. Then there is the 1-min adjustment. There is no initial examination - the chiropractor just goes by what you said your problem is in the form you filled out the first time you went in. I went in for headaches, and he adjusted the neck to the right, then to the left, then cracked my back once (sometimes twice). There is no talk, no explanation, not even a recommendation on how often I need to get adjusted. After the first time, I thought it was so awesome, that I recommended my other half to go get treated for his back pain. To our surprise, he got the exact same adjustment as I did! Apparently the back pain and headaches are one and the same problem? Anyway, to give it the benefit of the doubt we went in several times. Both of us got Dr. Larry Payne in all visits but one, and got Dr. Bryan Payne once. Dr. Bryan asked if I also wanted my lower back adjusted (apparently he asked the same thing to my husband). Will it help my headaches? Anyway, though for chiropractic care the price is good, only the hot pack and the massage were worth the money. I had high hopes for this place, but decided to stop going. read more

STOP RESEARCHING! YOU HAVE FOUND THE BEST ALL AROUND CHIRO OFFICE! I was looking around for a good frugal chiropractor. Calling around most offices with or without a deal were over $100.00 just for THE CONSULT Nothing else. I called RO and they didn't play around with words or try to get me to buy an online deal. Under $50.00 for: electric stimulation machine, massage and the adjustment. On the phone Dr Bryan was assertive, confident very patient with ALL my questions (I LOVE HIM.) Dr Larry (& Bryan are brothers) came in asked a few question, let me know what was going to happen and made me feel confident about being in his care. Jessica the massage therapist made me feel comfortable even before her massage started- she is so good i asked to have her repeatedly(I LOVE HER.) Dr Larry came back in for the adjustment and i was good to go (I LOVE HIM.) Finally i should have prefaced with: I never went to a Chiro before so i wasn't sure what to expect. Because of the pain in one hip for some reason i knew that's the kind of medical intervention i needed. The pain was so great it made my shoulder and head ache. I left there a new woman. The office staff is great. The doctors on the other hand don't really do, help or say much. They basically come in, crack the same areas and that's about it. I've been there several times and the doctor-patient relationship is pretty much non-existent. I've tried to discuss problems I've have with my back area but didn't really receive very helpful feedback. Their responses are very general. It really makes you wonder. As a result, I only come here for the massages as the staff members are very good at focusing on problem points. So the massages are highly recommended. read more

-- 1st sign of a potential problem: online coupon for free initial treatment & massage. but since it was free & close and had a high yelp rating, I figured why not, I'll give it a shot. Here are the issues I encountered: 1) no exam/evaluation, no explanation on where he thinks the problem is stemming from, just looked at the form I filled out and asked where I had pain. cracked without feeling/looking for where I need adjustments. 2) felt pressured to make the follow-up/regular appointments after I told him I'm at the as-needed phase (since moving away from my previous awesome chiro). 3) was told that my insurance will not be charged/billed since I had the coupon. but then I got an the insurance EOB after cancelling the appointment that I was pressured to make -- the massage and the heatpack isn't bad (tho there are much better) but that's not why I go to a chiropractor. it feels like a gimmick to make up for the "adjustments" read more

Both brothers (who are the Dr's in the practice) do an excellent job, and the included preheat and massages are excellent and performed by real masseuses.
