Was my first time eating here. We were a party of 4 celebrating my birthday. My son recommended this place. The place looks clean and well kept nicely decorated. Lindsey our waitress and bar tender was great told us the specials Ossobuco and 2 were ordered along with shrimp and pasta (but shrimp and grits were brought out instead) and my short rib. My drink and wine were on point. One of the Ossobucos was horrible and was replaced by another short rib order. Key lime pies were great! Quite a meal out all in all. This place was impressive. The decor, the atmosphere, the wait staff, and the menu. We did not realize that they had new owners and completely renovated and renamed the place. They had a nice bar when you walk in, and a beautiful open dining room area, as well as an outdoor dining area. We went on a Monday, 4ish....they had a happy hour appetizer menu...omg what a deal and everything we sampled (Brussel sprouts, shrimp fritters, and corn chowder) was incredible! They just did everything right. The flavors were unique and very well done. The grass fed smash burger was amazing and crispy, I had the roots salad and it was so different, and surprisingly had an amazing flavor. We even tried their pistachio Gelato and my husband raved about it. Our waiter was Alex, he was so personable, and gave great recommendations, really knew the menu. This will be my new favorite local place to visit and take friends to. I'll also recommend to our Airbnb guests as well. What a difference a year makes! I've been to BKK 3 times since my original review, and my opinion has changed. Today is an example of my experiences during those visits. The drinks (Coconut Martini) were delicious, as was the appetizer (Whipped Feta), and came out quickly, although we had to ask for small plates (no biggie). Our meals, on the other hand, took 45 minutes from the time we ordered. IMO, a smash burger and a chicken sandwich shouldn't take 45 minutes. The burger was good, but the chicken sandwich was not even close to the chicken sandwiches I've had here in the past. The breading was way over cooked; like it had been dropped back into the fryer a couple times. I heard rumblings at other tables about how long it was taking to get their food; heard a server say "FINALLY!" when he delivered food to another table. The restaurant was not overly busy; we arrived around 1:10pm. Unfortunately, with all the restaurants available, BKK will not be one I'll be returning to. read more

Hello everyone, it's the restaurant guy .. former owner of The Chart Room in Cincinnati Ohio. This review is not an easy one. Four of us went to this restaurant recently .. and this review is mixed. The GOOD ... Nice, clean appearance, nice atmosphere ... not loud and crazy. Nice attractive menus. Good food and nice presentation. The pasta entree was delicious. Some happy hour prices on drinks. Pleasant servers. Nice new furnishings. Nice background music. The NOT SO GOOD ... $33 for a piece of fish?!? (Included a half slice of a small sweet potato) Redfish is not that rare or expensive. $33 for a crab cake?!? (Included Hominy Corn Edamame) Sorry, but a 33-dollar price tag on those meals is a bit too strong! The whole bill came to $125. That's a bit strong for most folks, in my opinion, to support any local Crystal River restaurant. No one sweeps the floor in between meals. I did ask one server to do so as we were leaving. Crumbs, straw wrappers, etc. Overall, it's nice that someone is trying to offer a restaurant that's a bit upscale ... and although the meals tasted fine, they were nothing special .. nothing that would make me want to return any time soon without tapping into my saving account. My SERVICE DOGS were kicked out of the restaurant, fully enclosed in my stroller carrier, and was asked to leave because my dog in training barked at our waitress. There was no threat at all, and he only barked for less than 1 minute each time. I have a service dog letter from my doctor detailing that I need the dogs in order to perform daily functions for my disability. They do not like animals here and I would not recommend the trip, even if it was only a 5 minute commute. read more

This is a newly renovated restaurant overlooking kings bay. We stopped in after hearing new owners took it over. We had reservations but they weren't super busy for a Friday. The restaurant is clean and decorated nicely. Our server McKenzie was very friendly and helpful. She said the bar was behind a little and brought us water. Our drinks came out in about 10 minutes. We started with the crab corn chowder. It was very good. My wife ordered the fried cornmeal crusted snapper with the pickled tomatoes and greens. Also charred sweet potatoes. The presentation was beautiful. Her fish was good but a little bland. The micro greens were very earthy. I ordered the bone in prime pork chop with succotash and sweet potatoes. The succotash was very good. I liked the charred sweet potatoes. My pork chop was undercooked and had to be sent back. Our waitress was very good and offered us a dessert for the inconvenience. My meal came back out 15 minutes later and was cooked properly. It wasn't a good experience for us . Our dinner with tip was $145 . We will be back to try something else , maybe lunch. read more

This was not a very good meal- as soon as I walked in the burning fried awful smell hit me like a truck- the food was just not good- for my appetizer I ordered a cornbread, this was not good at all it was burned, extremely buttered, way to much, and not worth the 18 dollars, then the server took our orders and left- it took and hour and a half for a petite filet- and 3 salads for my table- the filet was undercooked- like just barely cooked enough in the middle to be considered rare- I ordered medium- the front was odd it was nasty looking and trashy- the ambiance was just bad. It felt like trashy Hollywood mixed with the beach- witch is a odd vibe to say the least. I will not be coming back here but I didn't hate the staff so +1 bonus read more

I dined last Friday at Bayside. It was my third time there. I was meeting two others who were late for our reservation. I asked if I could change it and that sweet hostess said "just come in, we'll seat you and you can comfortably wait for the rest of your party". Every wait person smiled and spoke to me so I didn't feel awkward! My party arrived, were treated very nicely, and we dined on delicious food! We went in Tuesday (yelp says they're closed on Tues?) but it was A-mazing!! Top notch service too. We started with whipped feta w/pickled onions & candied pecans. Then I had the venison shank with pimento cheese grits & Brussel sprouts. The venison was sooo tender, the char on the Brussel sprouts was just like I like it. Bayside Kraft Kitchen does an incredible job of offering unique dishes in a beautiful bay front setting. The restaurant is located right on Kings Bay with an incredible view of all the action. The food is terrific. My favorite is the pork chop with grilled sweet potatoes. I also love the Shrimp and Grits and anything that comes as the Catch of the Day. This is not your typical Crystal River dining. And I mean that in the most sincere way. This place has a refined setting with beautiful decor. We sat outside on the back patio that has a water view. We almost sat inside because it was hot but they had fans blowing on all sides, you were cool enough. You have the Tipsy Tarpon and the small private boat ramp as your view but I won't complain. If I see water I'm good. Our Server Nic made the experience enjoyable and her service was top notch. She was knowledgeable of the menu and made recommendations. She got us waters after introducing herself without hesitation. As someone who's been in the fine dining industry for years, that sets the tone for a great dining experience! The best part...the food was PHENOMENAL! From the apps to the main course. We got their pork belly, whipped feta dip and bbq grilled shrimp. My main course I got the panko fried snapper with Brussel sprouts and arugula salad. I devoured it all. All tasted so delicious! The menu is pricey. As I said before, it's not your typical restaurant here in this small town. Which is a breath of fresh air and a great place to dine for special occasions. My husband and I will be back! read more

Had to send back a cocktail(Old Fashioned) that was just horrible. Alleged Snapper was served and was absolutely tasteless. No bread or rolls offered. Charred sweet potato was stone cold. Ok just walking in the place has been updated from the former restaurant. Nice atmosphere and of course it overlooks the water. So upon sitting down, the seater gave us the wine list and menu. After reviewing the menu the waitress, Gaby, told us the specials of the day. She told us the Scallops were the daily special and they were small and market price. After myself and family reviewed the menu, I decided on the King Crab Legs. The people next to us ordered them and were brought to the table. We noticed a fishy smell and we asked the people, they said they had no taste and smelled funny, so we skipped them. We were told they were $85 dollars a LBS. For this area, that is a lot of money for Snow Crab. Anyway, we ordered our appetizers. We had the jalapeño corn bread and the oysters along with the crab and shrimp cake, my wife got the root salad. The jalapeño corn bread was lacking jalapeños and it really needed something on top, like jalapeños baked in or something. The corn bread was good, not gritty as the rest. The oysters, market price, were fresh but small and only 8 came with hot sauce and cocktail sauce, no horseradish sauce was offered. The crab and shrimp cake was good but lacked crab. Overall it was moist and had a basic taste. The root salad was well made and tasted really good, so that was a great choice. Now, the main courses were steak, ribs, and catfish. So the steak was cooked good, med-rare. The dinner came with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The mashed potatoes tasted like real mixed with instant, but the waitress said they were not. The Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection. A little grizzle was present in the steak, but it was not a top cut steak. The next was the catfish. It was warm and pleasantly presented to us. The catfish really needed more blacked seasoning. The succotash was very good and was well made. The next one was the ribs. The ribs were present, presented very well and when brought to the table were warm and not overly sauced, but very juicy. The lobster tail was good, but it was a little spongy due to overcook just a little bit. For dessert, we had the lemon cello, chocolate mousse with a macaroon, and Keylime pie tart. The lemon cello was very sweet, but the waitress said on a scale of one to 10 it was around an eight so we went ahead and we ordered some side, lemon juice, and a side of sweet-and-sour mix, which complemented the lemon tart and made it just right. The chocolate moose with the macaroon was very good but the chocolate was lacking over the top taste. it could've used some chocolate on top but was still missing that wow factor. The Keylime tart was your average Keylime. It could've used a little bit more lime or even some lemon to go ahead and bring out the flavor so it was just like what you bought in a store. The drinks , well-made and the liquor in the drinks were present for sure. Overall, on a scale of one to 10 I would give it a 7 1/2. I feel that the prices are high for this area and for a family of three to go out it was around $300, so it would not be affordable for your average citrus county family. overall the food was good, the atmosphere was nice, but overpriced for this area. On recommendation of a friend we tried Bayside. The restaurant was recently taken over by new owners and completely and very nicely renovated. The old restaurant was called Charlie's. The menu was exciting and varied. There were four of us and we had the shrimp, snapper, venison oso buco and root salad. And a couple of apps. The venison was excellent and it's the only restaurant that I have ever been at that had this dish. If you love venison this was fantastic. The snapper was flavorful. The shrimp were good as was the salad. The wine list was very diverse. French, Italian, Argentinian, Washington state and California. I had the French Cabernet Franc and it was excellent. For apps we had pork bellies, Cesar salad and corn chowder. All were good. For desert we tried the key lime and coffee chocolate chip ice cream. Both were really nice. The service was friendly and attentive. The only negative was they did not use stemmed wine glasses which was a turn off. Otherwise a really good experience. We will be back! read more

Our dinner was terrible. We ordered an appetizer that was burnt on the bottom. We send that back. The replacement was also burnt but not as bad. I ordered a Caesar salad that I couldn't eat. The croutons were made of scorched cornbread. My Husband's dinner was burnt as well. It was very expensive and we will not go back. They need chefs or at least people who know how to cook. read more

I'm not usually writing a review, but I want to give you a recommendation to try this spot! It is a beautiful setting for sure, but the space inside is beautiful, as well! Then, there is the menu and food- fresh,, healthy and delicious choices. We tried two salads, the Southwest and the Athens (Greek). Both of those were delicious, with fresh veggies and tasty dressings. The crab cake was also very good. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back! read more

Bayside Kraft Kitchen was a welcome break from the usual small town seafood fare. We drive through Crystal River pretty often on the way to the Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete area to visit family, and my husband's brother has a place in nearby Homossassa Springs. We stayed in Crystal river almost a year ago for a family reunion, and the dining establishment previously in this spot was closed for renovations (now we know it was to transform into this gem of a restaurant). My husband had the lobster dinner, which came with 2 sides (he chose the edamame succotash and pimento cheese grits), and I had shrimp and grits, which was crowned with tomato chorizo sofrito and micro greens. Just fabulous! The wine choice was unusually extensive for this part of Florida, and the service was impeccable! We will make it a point from here on out to time all our trips to Pinellas county around a meal at Bayside Kraft Kitchen! Highly recommend!!!! read more

Our first time at Bayside KK since it opened recently. The ambience is contemporary/mid-century modern and the service (Christina) is great. Our visitors from NY were equally impressed as we were with the service and most especially the food! We chose to eat indoors since all the tables were taken outside (well-it was a Fri night!). We each ordered a different entree which allowed some sharing. The catch was Swordfish and I had it blackened (light) and it came with a white wine reduction, roasted brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. I'm not a big fan of Brussels but these were terrific. The Swordfish piece was quite large and done to perfection, added the reduction sauce and it was heaven! Other entrees were Blackened Catfish (also w/reduction) and charred sweet potato. Shrimp & Grits (Pimento Cheese Ground Grits, Andouille Tomato Sofrito w/Herb Oil), and Florida Snapper were the other 2 entrees. All were excellent-no leftovers to take home. Only after we started eating did I realize I didn't take any pics, so when I ordered the Chocolate Mousse I made sure to get the photo. Only drawbacks were: It's a bit loud inside (many new restaurants have this issue), the parking was sparse and as for the menu, I think they need to find some additional side dishes other than brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. read more
