The staff acts like your existence is a personal inconvenience. The large bearded guy behind the counter somehow managed to creep out my kids and talk down to me--all in one interaction. While in line, staff was attentive to both my friend and me but her service wasn't nearly as nice as mine. We both got peach cold lattes and we both enjoyed our drinks. The drinks were tasty and just the right temperature. Here is where we divert on our reviews. I immediately got my Mediterranean fries which were good. My were not soggy ands the toppings weren't strange, as one reviewer commented on the combinations. I am Mediterranean background and I thought the toppings complemented each other. Definitely a must if you are in the Clayton neighborhood. The coffee is amazing and has been perfectly brewed every time I've gone there. Saturday mornings have an atmosphere with neighborhood families coming in and kids playing in the front lot. Friendly service and great food. Recently they went all gluten free which is a great with gluten free needs. I also believe they do a community dinner once a month to help raise funds for the local community. Visited here twice, since my sister was staying nearby and visiting. The coffee shop is cute! They've got a patio and there's a glass blowing studio next door. We watched the artist doing their thing while we waited for drinks. The staff at the coffee shop were friendly, helped answer questions and made recommendations. The drinks were good and for the price, they were decently sized (iced drinks). I got a latte the first time and a matcha the second. The drinks were good - it wasn't anything stellar, but not bad! They do have a seasonal menu, I recommend trying drinks from there since it won't be there forever. read more

This is my GO TO cafe. As a gluten free girly, this place is like heaven on earth. It's the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had in my entire life and even my friends who aren't gluten free LOVE it. The turkey panini is also incredible. Their coffee is delicious, but it is super strong and makes me feel like I need to run a marathon after so I usually opt for the iced matcha. Their syrups are made in house and the baked goods are seasonal and so good! The baristas are always so friendly and the cafe itself is adorable with lots of natural light. Hands down the BEST sausage and egg breakfast sandwich in the city. Of my entire life. I took it to go, and sadly did not take any pictures. Spectacular though. The crust of the bread was 10/10. The egg mixture was impeccable. The sausage, so yummy. The aoli was a treat. I can't even describe adequately how delicious this simple sandwich was. I will be back for more, very soon, I'm sure. We ate like a kid in the candy store. We ordered breakfast sandwiches, avocado, toast, banana, bread, scones. What we didn't eat there we took with us. The scones were so good even the next day as leftovers. But that breakfast sandwich is hands-down the best I've ever had. The place was hopping when we got there, but we didn't have a problem getting a table. They have a nice outdoor patio area. But it was too cold for that. Super cute cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Great coffee. I had both a cafe au lait and a cold brew. Lots of gluten free items to choose from, which I love. We got a bacon quiche, a vegetarian biscuit sandwich, and a monster scone. I was bummed that the quiche was crustless but it came with some kind of garlicky aioli which was delicious. While staying in Denver, we found this coffee shop within walking distance of our stay. It was such a treat to wake up and grab a nice warm drink and a bite to eat here. Their menu has something for everyone and we wanted to try something new each time. I especially loved the Mexican Hot Chocolate which had the perfect kick of spiciness to it. They have indoor and outdoor seating for the warmer months and even an area for dogs. The staff is friendly and helps to give recommendations for first timers. Went on a trip to Denver recently and I am a big new wave coffee shop guy. I was shocked with the amount of options available in Denver. With all the competition, River and roads coffee was able to stand out. The coffee was amazing. I went with my usual cortado and my girlfriend got two different lattes over the course of two days and hers were also excellent. Usually a spot that has great coffee doesn't have good food, luckily for us, River and roads have a great food selection as well. We stayed at an Airbnb close to the MLK location and would recommend anyone to stop by if they're local. read more

It's always fun to stumble upon something unexpected when you are least expecting, right? As I've mentioned an umpteen times in some of my reviews on Yelp, I'm always on the lookout for a cute/quaint coffee shop. Today was one of those days because I discovered this great coffee shop in the neighborhood between North Park Hill and Five Points. Hence, I'm being compelled to write a review for it. This isn't just a coffee place with pastries. It's a great place to grab something savory for breakfast or lunch. Not only that, it's very much family and dog friendly, too! In front the store, there is an outdoor area with pebbles with a few benches so you can hang out with your furry friend. Since the temperature was so pleasantly warm on the day of my visit (Dec 4, 2022 to be exact), many were there with kids and dogs to enjoy the weather. We can't miss an opportunity to get vitamin D especially during the cold winter months, right?? The guy at the ordering counter was so friendly and personable. He took my name for my order but after that, he addresses me by name by asking how my day was going etc. I pay attention to this kind of detail each time I go to a store (I mean ANY store) so he was above and beyond )he truly took the time to het to know me!) I got my usual (doppio) and one of the pastries (Donut Stuffed Apple Pie Cookie). It took time before my doppio came out (the lady after me got her drink before me.) I was able to tell that the barista was still working on my drink by observing him from the bench I was sitting (I knew he didn't forget about me.) Once it was ready, he called my name and apologized for the wait. He had to remake my doppio at least one because it didn't come out right the first time (he thus remade it to ensure the quality.) Wow, this barista should receive the barista of the year award!! My doppio was as stout as it could be like Guinness beer (except it was hot). The Donut Stuffed Apple Pie Cookie was exactly as the name says its ingredients. They really achieved the perfection to make this pastry. This place is absolutely amazing; the service to the quality, I mean every aspect of a business should be is all there. I'm impressed!! read more

Decent coffee place on right on the park Pluses: #1 location, this is my go to when I want to walk my dog to the park. Its gorgeous. #2 the food. I believe its all gluten free, which isn't something im ever looking for, but I do have to respect when a place can turn out great treats with that kind of restriction. The coffee itself, not my favorite, but ok. I swear they dont know the difference between a cappuccino and a latte, which is fine, and Im not a coffee snob, but they always seem more milk heavy than they should be. Also, dont bother ordering online, I thought it would save time. Nope. Maybe at Starbucks it does, but here it puts you at the back of the line. Which honestly I respect because it sucks to be standing in line and watching people come in and get served while you wait. And Ive never waited long just ordering at the counter. That being said, if Im coming here I focus on the teas not the coffees. The teas selection is much more artisanal and probably deeper than anything else you can get in the area without going to a teahouse. read more

This location is much bigger, more seating, and very pup friendly. The staff was super kind and offered great customer service. Music was awesome, I will always be happy with any spot playing Fleetwood Mac. The food and coffee came out super fast and was super delish. I don't want to knock River & Roads too hard, so I'll be polite and give them a 4-star review with some disclaimers. It's a cute shop, ample street parking, patio seating and space indoors. The donut holes are delicious and loaded with sprinkles and the food going out looked very good. From a coffee standpoint, offering cow's milk or oat as the only alternative is frustrating. Give the consumer more than one plant based choice; especially if you're charging $1 extra for a 2-oz pour in my cortado. Ridiculous. Oat milk is loaded with carbs and makes the coffee overly creamy and masks the taste of espresso. Due to this, my husband skipped a latte and just got a drip. I opted for a cortado instead of a larger drink. We then drove down south and grabbed a latte at Corvus, who offered almond milk. read more
