Brand is great, but the staff here is disorganized, unprofessional, lazy and no one seems to know what's going on 95% of the time which means no one takes accountability. It's always someone else's fault or problem so you will be redirected over and over with no straight answer. A simple oil change will always go 2+ hours over the promised time. Constant appointment reminders, but staff is never ready to take you or know how to assist you once you arrive, it's a domino effect where someone has to keep asking the next person what to do. I save my reviews only when a company has proved over and over that they cannot deliver on what they promise and this staff are those people who can care less about you or the brand. Still they tell me it's not warranteed. Now it's a big area and growing. They told me to go to the clear coat company named Cilajet. They refused to cover it. Total waste of 1000 dollars. We have taken our CX9 twice into the service department, the customer service has been outstanding. We went in today; they told us it would be ready in 1 hour and it was done in 50 minutes plus they did a complete car wash, vacuum the interior and put dressing on the tires. They did the same thing the first we brought the car in. Needless to say we were very impress with the service and the special attention to detail. They have a very comfortable waiting lounge with several types of coffees and pastries. This is by far the best service department I have been to in Southern CA. Arrived for my service appointment, the representative checked me in. 10 -15 feet away is a man sitting at the table near the coffee bar, full conference call mode and no mask. I asked her if the other waiting room was open as the mask wearing rules didn't apply to that customer, she advised the tv lobby was open. I understand businesses don't want to lose customers by asking them to follow the rules but what about the other customers? I'm looking to buy soon and not sure this is the place to do it. On the bright side I received a video of the inspection that showed and explained what may need to be fixed, the technician advised on the possible time frame. Great information. read more

This was kind of a weird experience. They gave us a price on the phone and it turned out to be the final price. They didn't nudge a bit and cried over already loosing money on the sale. We first got help from a guy who clearly didn't know his job. Knew nothing about the details and was awkwardly silent the whole test drive. They had two cars of the same model and one was priced $2k higher than the other one, but with fewer features. Obv I wanted the car with the safety features and radar cruise control. They didn't even know that the car had it and the manager told me that I would never use it (turns out I use it almost every day). They didn't want to come down on the listed price and they were too lazy to give me the specs of both cars to compare so I went to lunch. I came back and the same guy, now with $ signs in his eyes disrespectfully got up from his desk, abandoning another couple to make sure that he got to close the deal. I asked for someone else. Now Tim came to the rescue. The whole experience turned around. No more bullshit and a lot more knowledge. We were just about to sign the papers and a new schmonk came in with a big smile thinking he was the best salesman in the world. He said he would try to get the interest rate down because "he's really good at his job". 20 min later he came back with info that he probably already had. He said he worked hard and could offer us a rate below 1%. It sounded good. Turns out you also had to pay for 7 years of 3rd party warranty which would end up being more expensive than it already was. After reading the details it also turned out that the 7 years started when it was first bought 3-4 years ago. I love the car, but these guys are fishy. Except for Tim. Ask for Tim. Meh. My experience here had its ups and downs. First negative experience is the multiple canned email responses to my inquiry about the car I was interested in. I responded to each canned email and received no response to which I gave up with the dealership. It wasn't until later that evening I wanted to head out to Riverside to reminisce my days at UC Riverside to which my girlfriend suggested, "why don't we stop by the Mazda dealer?" On the way to UCR, we stopped by the dealer and asked about the car I had inquired about earlier that day. The car was there, sitting in the back lot, 14 miles on the odometer, no front plate, almost the perfect car we're looking for! A positive. Unfortunately, the negative is the salesman that wouldn't let us test drive the car, let alone let me drive it 100 feet to the lighted part of the parking lot; also the slamming of the soft top and multiple starts and restarts of the engine when cold irked me (I'm THAT particular car buyer). Besides the majority of time we spent at the dealer having my information put into the computer, I did appreciate the sales manager cutting to the chase with an initial offer that beat corporate fixed pricing, and throwing out the second sticker BS without an argument. However, living in Washington state, and both parties not knowing the logistics of tax, titling, registration, and shipping/transport made the logistics of buying the car out of state a nightmare. This dealership does seem eager to sell cars, but why is there a second sticker? Do people still buy this "perma-plate" non-sense? Get rid of the second sticker, let people test drive vehicles, and get rid of the 4-square. read more

8/15/2012 Less than twelve hours after I posted the previous review of Riverside Mazda I received a phone call from a gentleman named Jim. I believe he was the store manager. He called and apologized for the mistakes that were made with my car. He was very helpful and was willing to do whatever he could to rectify the situation. My original experience was very disappointing but the customer service I received afterwards was incredible. He explained what needed to be done and did the full car inspection over again to make sure nothing was skipped over. Not only did he make sure that the inspection was done properly but he helped me with a variety of other things that should be looked at before my my big road trip. Once my car was finished he explained what him and his team did to my car to my dad and me. He was still apologetic and wanted to make sure I was satisfied with my experience. Although my original experience wasn't super great, the experience I had today with him and his team was wonderful! I will return to Riverside Mazda when I arrive in California in the Spring because of how helpful he was and the fact that he took responsibility for the mistakes made in his shop. ------------------------------------------------------- 8/14/2012 Mazda Riverside cannot be trusted with car safety. I took my Mazda 3 to get the pre-vacation package. It came with an oil change, tire rotation, evaluation of entire car and some other stuff. I explained to both people working at the service desk (because they kept trading me off) that I was leaving on a cross country road trip the following week. I needed to make sure everything's was running properly because my car would be in Pennsylvania for the next year. They said they would double check everything since I wouldn't be able to make it back anytime soon. Once I got the report of my car I was told I needed new back tires (since they had been rotated). I knew that I needed them beforehand but I asked them to check the front tires. They said my front tires were perfectly fine and I had no reason to worry. I went to Americas tires to get two new tires because Mazda said that was all I needed. When the guy there checked them he said I needed all four and showed me that my tires that Mazda said were perfectly safe were completely worn on the inside. So much so, that the steal belt on my tires was showing. The guy from Americas tires told me it would be days before the inside off tire blew. I will never take my car back to Riverside Mazda because they clearly did not pay attention to what they were doing. They rotated my tires so they had to have seen what poor shape they were in. I am so thankful I didn't drive across country with the tires Mazda Riverside told me were completely safe. This is my 5th car purchase experience in life and one of the simplest by far. If you are an individual who values your time and don't want to waste away hours and hours playing games, then come here. We worked with Jose and his sales manager Ruben... They were both professional and courteous to me, and my 7-month pregnant wife, which is something I appreciate very much. No games. They were very clear and transparent in what they were doing to try and help me get to a price we can both agree on. They will work with you and get you into the car you want at a good price if you are serious. Best way to not get ripped off by a dealership is to do your research on the car you want to buy and go in there with a number. They will NOT give you a price lower than your number, only higher (or the same, which most likely mean you didn't do enough research.) Negotiation is part of buying a new car at any dealership. Also, he had horrible B.O. so the test drive was unpleasant. I wanted to get the car that day, all cash. I said what I was willing to pay for the car. Sales manager gave us one offer. Overpriced. We negotiated and then he gave us a new offer. He added in my car as a trade in and tried to give us that number (which was now less considering the 5k trade in) and say look here's a lower offer. If you take out the trade in, he actually increased the amount of the car by 2k. This was extremely insulting. He was rude the entire time. Didn't seem like he wanted to give anyone the time of day, just wanted to sit in his chair in his office looking annoyed with everyone. This is really no way to do business. This sales manager is horrible at selling cars, client service, and having even a remotely good attitude. No wonder they are consistently under their quota. I left immediately after he attempted to scam me (and a very pathetic attempt at that). This dealer will just completely waste your time and leave you feeling insulted. Sales manager is an idiot and I have no idea how he got his job. He clearly doesn't value it or have any respect for the company/clients. Pathetic excuse for a dealer. Ended up going to Mazda of Huntington that day and buying my car. Got an amazing deal and was completely worth the drive. After nearly ten years since our last new car purchase, we were so pleasantly surprised at the outstanding attention and service provided by the folks at Riverside Mazda. Tim, our Costco Auto Program rep, patiently worked with us for weeks to find us the exact vehicle we needed. With Tim's assistance, we ended up purchasing a slightly different spec vehicle (i.e., different color & options) that was ultimately a far better fit to our family's needs. From there, we were assisted by Jose (associate) who patiently helped us through the final stages (at the end of a long day, no less) to help us complete the transaction. Zabi (manager) was also extremely gracious and worked hard to find us some fantastic financing that sealed the deal for us. Without Zabi's help, I'm certain we would still be looking for our vehicle today! Finally, Mario (finance) was fantastically efficient and accurate to help us get through financing and get us on our way. After not being able to purchase a car at CarMax I decided to try this dealer. When I arrived I was greeted and shown the car I asked about. Then, we were passed off to another person who was the actual salesperson. We went on a test drive and the sales person was quite helpful, funny guy. I was hopeful a deal would be made. When we arrived back at the dealer, we were passed back to the original person who greeted us. He immediately got paperwork out to check our credit without asking questions. We told him we wanted to see number first and get our current car appraised. He left, came back, requested our keys and asked if he could remove the registration from the car. BIG MISTAKE! ALWAYS GET YOUR KEYS BACK!!! He ended up passing us to another sales person. Third person we have spoken to in the span of 30 minutes. He was personable and had nice hair for being on lockdown. As he was escorting us to his desk he showed us another car and asked if we would be interested. Sure why not, but requested to see numbers for multiple car. Welp... It went downhill from there. They asked if we could do between 2 to 5k down. What? If I had that kind of money why are we even talking? They appraised my car at almost half of what CarMax offered. Ok. So deal can't be made right? Wrong!!! When they came back with the first set of numbers it wasn't close to what I was looking for. He left came back and this time showed us what appeared to look like they were trying to roll our current loan over to a new loan. Even with a higher appraisal, the numbers didn't add up. When we asked about they tried to redirect. Throughout the process we asked for the keys of our car back multiple times. The last time we asked for it I could tell the sales person was stalling when their finance manager came out to talk to us. They wanted us to accept a crazy deal that didn't make sense at all. 2019 car, 5k down, roll over current loan to new loan, with a interest rate that they set. Remember this detail... We finally got our keys back and we left, not after we told them countless times we needed to think about it. Oh and they did still had our registration which we had to ask for. Anyways, all wasn't lost. I ended up going to another Mazda dealership where I got a new 2020 car, 1k down, loan was paid off, 1.9% interest rate, and payment where I wanted it. Why couldn't they do this? I don't know... I get the name of the game but sometimes you need to know when to walk away. I went in there knowing it was a long shot to get a car. If you are in the business of selling then figure out how to make the deal or you know... Be honest and say it won't work. This reminded me why I hate going to dealerships. Bought a new CX3 earlier this month. Yesterday going home on the 60 I saw 5 cars with flat tires. I decide to check the spare tire when I got home and found that I had no wheel jack. The tire is there, the lug nut wrench is there the belt is there but no jack. Called and left a message but so far no response. Will update Good follow-up. I have been getting my car serviced here for awhile now. There is a new service rep. Marina who is very unprofessional and rude. I had brought my car in for an oil change and to have a malfunction looked at which was covered under warranty. She wanted to charge me $169.00 to just have the car looked at. I asked her about the warranty and she said I would still have to pay for it to be looked at. I didn't understand so I asked to speak to the manager. She told me "he's going to tell you the same thing". Which I understood and when I asked for the manager again, she said no. I hope she gets the proper training and better customer service skills because I felt very uncomfortable with her. She then set me up with Richard Lopez, in sales and we talked over the phone and he didn't try to pressure me, so unlike most sales people especially at car dealerships. I got the exact car with all of the options I wanted at a great price. I also want to mention how helpful Mario was, he prepared the paperwork and again no pressure to add anything. Richard Lopez was more than kind and helpful. He walked me through all the technology in the car, which was a lot. I'm not the most techie person around, so I'm sure it had to be frustrating for him but if it was he sure didn't show it, he went over and over the various features my beautiful red CX-5 touring has. He wanted to make sure that I was comfortable with everything. I would highly recommend Riverside Mazda and Richard Lopez, Monae Lopez and Mario to all. I'm older and have purchased many new cars in my time and the experience I had with Riverside Mazda was by far the best and easiest. I have been very happy with their service since I bought my car in 2017, until now. My car needs to be serviced it won't start and the part is under warranty, and they told me the part was back ordered until mid or even the end of August. So, I have to wait that long for my car and they won't even give me a loaner, because they say they don't have any available until August 12th. You would think that since I did buy the car here, they would do anything to accommodate me with a car while I have to wait for a part that they say is back ordered. read more

A couple days ago, I was visiting different Mazda dealerships looking for a used car to buy. After a very very frustrating day I stopped here as kind of a hail Mary. Tired and frustrated from being jerked around by the other dealers, I was immediately impressed with this dealership and the staff. I was able to find a newer car cheaper here than anywhere else. I told the staff about what happened with the other Mazda dealerships and they actually went out of their way to make things right and made sure we left happy. We did. All of the staff was very good, but the floor manager Ricardo and their sales man named Ahmad really shone. They had a really great finance guy too, but unfortunately I can't recall his name. This was by far the best dealership I went to in my search for a car. Wish they had been my first stop, and next time they definitely will be. Highly recommended. ***Update*** I read my previous review and think it was insufficient. I actually got into a bit of a bind and needed to have my car towed. I was in the hospital and couldn't get the keys to this dealer or the tow service and couldn't actually be there.. After a miscommunication they promised me that they would take the car to the dealer and I could purchase new keys (which is what I wanted). I was having health issues and the last thing I wanted was to worry about my car getting towed and impounded and once again they went out of their way to provide exceptional service. It was a great weight off my shoulders to not worry about the car getting towed. Trust and dealership are words I never thought I would use in the same sentence. I do trust this dealership though. So an update... Came back Riverside Mazda today. After being contacted by the service manager Steve, I made an appointment for 10am this morning so he could ride in the car today and here the noise the car was making. He was very nice and comforting the whole time. Turns out the problem was located in one of the struts but not that strut itself. He actually had the techs replace both sides under warranty. The car rides amazing now. I'm very happy with the service today. The service manager Steve was super nice. Like the kond of genuine nice where you can't be mad at all. We also met his boss Shawn who was also super nice. What I appreciated the most is despite my last review, not once we're they ever defensive or negative. It would be great if I could compare and contrast honesty and Integrity of them all, but suffice it to say, the others would have gotten 0 out of 5 stars if it were possible to give them that, but Mazda in Riverside would get 5, but only because it is not possible to give them more. They honored an online price that should have been taken down, and dealt with us more than fairly.
