I can not express how impressed I am with this place! The price includes AYCE pot stickers, spring rolls, soup, and ice cream! It's not fancy but it's delicious! They always have a full buffet of great choices and the sauces never run out. Love coming here when I'm craving noodles-and the people who work/own the place always remember you if you've been in a couple times. They are very sweet and friendly. Came here for dinner for the first time with my family, it was an hour and a half before closing. Got our plates and sat down to enjoy our noodles. Not even half way through with our first plates the waitress brings us our check and fortune cookies. Kinda early when they still had an hour before closing and we haven't even finished our first plates. Shrugged it off and we finished our first plates, then decided to get seconds. Before we could do that the waitress comes over and hits the cookies off our check and says "it would be nice if you would pay this in advance". I'm at this point thinking how incredibly RUDE their customer service is. We still decide to stay and pay early as asked. But then as we are barely half way through our second plate they shut the music off. Then start instructing the grill is off and time to close. They are doing this 20 minutes before their posted closing time!! Told the lady it was rude to rush people out when it's still before closing time. We are left leaving still chewing the food in our mouth from our unfinished plates. I've never felt so uncomfortable and mistreated! After sitting down I was asked if I wanted something to drink, after I declined, I was asked if I would be eating. As I didn't want any food from here, I said no. She took my utensils and I thanked her. She then returned to tell me that I'm not allowed to share food, I had no intention of eating or sharing any of the food my family got. I expressed this to her but I supposed she didn't believe me, as she doubled down that I would have to buy my own plate if I wanted to eat there (which I did not) since she wouldn't leave me alone, my father informed her of the reason I don't desire to eat at the establishment, admittedly an overshare but she had pushed us there. She was watching me from the register after she left, it made me uncomfortable so I decided to just wait for my family in the car. Today we went in and we're charged a Buffet price and no problem it's a buffet but then the staff said only one bowl and you can't have it past the bowl line...? This place is one of the better Mongolian Grills in the Puyallup Area. While it certainly isn't the best grill, it scratches the itch, if you can get past all of the picadillos and qualms that you might encounter. TLDR/ Service: Questionable to okay, Food: Good, if you know what you like, Cleanliness: Moderate to messy. Verdict: Visit with Caution. Cleanliness: The biggest issue here for me is place is sticky. Literally everywhere you touch had either a slick of oil or the sickly stickiness that comes from a counter top that is long past it's prime. The grill is always being cleaned off, and the guys working it seem to be trying their best but if you watch them for a while, you see a lot of questionable practices going on (ie possible cross contamination). The floor and the preparation bar line where you make your own bowls is also almost always a huge mess. Food: Pros: You can make you food however you want, and add as much or as little spice, meat, vegetables, oil, etc. as you want. You can load up on meat, and not worry about cost because it is one price. They have all you can eat stir fry, soups (beef radish, egg flower, and hot & sour), gyoza, spring rolls, and vanilla soft serve ice cream. They have little jars of peanuts, and hot chili flakes to add at the end. They have a trio of warm sauces (teriyaki, Kung Pow, Sweet & Sour) next to the fried rolls/gyoza. Free refills on soda. Cons: The food itself is hard to judge, because if you are an inexperienced patron, you might not add enough sauce or oil and you food will suffer...but that is not the biggest issue here. My number one problem lies in the condiment section of the prep bar, namely the obvious watering down of every single sauce, so that no matter how much you add, your food will never be seasoned enough if you let them cook it for the minimum required time. I tend to have to ask the griddle master to cook it at least 5-7 minutes longer because everything is so watery. Seriously, why water down chili sauce (obviously to cut costs, but at such a high level of detriment to taste)? So the thinning of condiments and the lackluster flavor of the house sauce are both legitimate problems. There is also the issue of getting bits of someone else's food mixed with yours, especially if you have food allergies (frankly, if you do, this place is just not for you) or having your food lost all together (this has actually happened a few times, where the chef will combine bowls and your meal will become one with that of another patron). Service: This is possibly the worst offense, as sometimes the service is decent but other times you could go an entire meal without getting your drink refilled, without having a question answered or be severely offended by downright hostility. The wait staff in my past experiences are generally mediocre, probably because of they don't actually take anything but drink orders. However, this to me seems like a perfect reason to care a bit more, because your interactions are so limited...but no, that isn't really the case here. In the 20 or so times I have been to this place (most at the behest of others people) the service was the one thing that has been so all over the map that it is worth noting. read more

This is coming from someone who has been going to jasmines Mongolian for YEARS plus working there for 4 years. Due to personal issues with jasmines I refused to give them my business and have been on a mission to find a new Mongolian grill spot. I'm so happy to find riverside! I love the family vibe in there. You would not expect a Mongolian grill place to be on River Road but there is one, and it's better than other Mongolian grill places anywhere else i've been to. The front of the restaurant is seating, on the left side past the seating area are the soups, we had egg flower and hot and sour to choose from when we went. The right side had the gyoza, egg rolls, pineapple, peanuts and wonton crisps for your toppings and rice. In the back the Mongolian grill ingredients bar and the grill itself. Everyone there is nice and very helpful. They bring you your beverages, everything else is available to you buffet style. The prices are very cheap for everything that comes with your meal. We went during dinner time, so the cost was $12 per person i think. Reading the other reviews, I didn't experience any of the things they described. My boyfriend and I will try it again will update this review if things have changed. But we will be back! read more

My husband and I have enjoyed going to Riverside for over 12 years, even back to our high school days. It's my favorite restaurant by far! Birthdays, anniversaries, date nights...you name it and we were celebrating it at Riverside. They know our faces and we feel at home there. The food and customer service are awesome! The meat and vegetables are fresh and kept at proper temperatures. In all the times we've been, not one problem. ...until recently that is. We've brought our little ones along for years and they just took a bite or two off our plates. No biggie. Now that they're older they need their own plates. My little one however refuses eat any vegetables or meat in her "ramen". Last time we were in we ended up paying $13.99 for literally 1 cup of noodles and a splash of teriyaki sauce for her meal. My older daughter will eat meat and veggies but still can only eat a very small amount, nothing compared to the adult sized plates we indulge in...for exactly the same price. We will not be returning to Riverside until they offer family friendly pricing. Going out to eat is not something we get to do very often and when we do, we're not okay with being overcharged for our children's meal. Even the smallest restaurants offer a children's menu or pricing to encourage families to dine...it's not a lot to ask. We have however mentioned this to the owners before and were disregarded. I will be more than happy to change this to a 5 star review if Riverside Mongolian Grill starts to offer prices better suited for families. read more

I moved to McChord afb in 2012 and discovered this gem one afternoon shopping in Puyallup. I had since moved back to LA and forgotten about it until my recent move back to Seattle. Much to my surprise it was still here 5 years later! And I can honestly say it's just as good as I remember. The staff is friendly and the Mongolian is quick to cook. The variety is wonderful and the price is more than fair. $13 for evenings and weekends. $11 for lunch. All you can eat so you can't beat that! Food selection is bleh and all the sauces seem very watered down. The meat all look like they were thrown into a grinder and thrown in the freezer. Very much dislike how they put their shrimp, there is more ice in the shrimp tray than shrimp themselves. The cooking style also feels very off feel they add alot of water to speed up the cooking but all that does is dilute the sauces you've added. Customer service wasn't all good either very much a hi sit down ur done pay and get out never once asked if I needed a refill om my drink or if the food is OK. Now to the worst part, waitress was seen grabbing a soup bowl from the table of a family that had just left, and my wife witnessed her POUR THAT BOWL BACK INTO THE SOUP CONTAINER ..yes..used soup back into the container. Anyways sorry hummmmm so he was not impressed by them as you can see from the pic "after 2 pic before this 1" and I was really hoping that the gyzo would be good but I was disappointed and they did not have the traditional dipping sauce for the gyzo. The lady was very good at making sure our water glasses never went empty but not the soda glasses(not sure about free refill's) and we never had to wait for our food to get cooked even when they all took a break at the same time. Family owned we think and nice people, we gave them $10 for a tip and our bill was $76 and that why I only gave it 3 stars. I really think this place would have more families with children if they lowered that price for kids to either .69 cents per year or .99 cents per year until age 10 or 12. We would consider coming back again if they did but we won't be back because it's just to expensive for us. Our kids are 3,5,8 and 13 but the 3 littles only ate a few bits of just noodles and rice. I love a good Mongolian Grill. Unfortunately, they tend not to be good, or are overpriced. I have heard of this place for years, but normally don't find myself in Puyallup. It sits in a strip mall and parking isn't easy, but you should be able to find a spot. The interior of the place isn't fancy, but it's clean. It was on the cold side, I honestly felt like the only heat was coming off the grill. They had a lot of veggie options, but the veggies didn't look like there were completely fresh. It wasn't wilted or rotten, maybe they just needed to wash it to make it look more savory. The met was sliced thicker than I like. Personally, I think thinner meat does a better job of soaking up the sauces and oils you add making the grill taste better. They also don't allow you to scoop your own rice, so I had to go back and request a larger helping. Most grills just have hot and sour, but these guys had egg flower and beef soup as well. They also had potstickers and egg rolls. The family that runs the place was super friendly and I couldn't find a single fault with anything other than the small rice portion. The food itself was average at best, but the price was so low, it would be disrespectful to complain. For the price paid, you can't ask for any more, but personally I would have no problem paying a few bucks more for better meat and veggies. The hot and sour also needed help, it was too sour and lacked the rich chicken stock flavor that good soups have. I don't see myself coming back, but I would suggest you try them out. Quality of the frozen/ "fresh" food is poor and can see it is cheap quality . The sauces are so diluted that they are basically water .
