Since moving to Utah a year and a half ago, I needed to find a Chevy dealer that I could trust working on my Corvette. Riverton Chevrolet is it. First of all, they sponsor the Corvette Club of Utah. We have our meetings there in their upstairs conference room. They donate sponsorship money to the club and give club members a 10% discount on parts and labor and also works good deals out for buying a car or truck. Such a dealership is only going to give good service because they only want a positive reputation among the Corvette owners, the opposite would be very bad for business. I have been dealing with Fred in service and he's an upright, good guy. I've gone in for oil changes and repairs and they have been done in a timely manner. I have always felt comfortable dealing with him and this dealership. I had the same confidence in the Corvette club sponsor in Tucson, O'Reilly Chevrolet, with Ricky and wanted the same experience here in Sandy. I've got it. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. We had a horrible experience with Riverton Chevrolet. A complete lack of integrity. We had negotiated a deal and confirmed with the sales manager and sales person to come in to get the vehicle, only for them to sell it to someone else. As if that weren't shady enough, they lied to us about when it sold, so when I drove around back, the vehicle was sitting in the service bay. Shady sales people, dishonest sales manager, and an ethically bankrupt place to purchase a vehicle. Go literally anywhere else. read more

I took our Chevy Tahoe into the dealership for an 85,000 miles service check. I know it's not fashionable to take an older car to the dealership, but the sales and service/repair people at Riverton Chevrolet have always done an outstanding job of efficiently taking care of our vehicles at a fair price. Ron, my Service Representative, is knowledgeable and honest. He always gives me a fair assessment of the vehicle's condition and then provides multiple options to keep things running safely. They are by far the best dealership I've ever had the pleasure to work with so I give them a very high rating. read more

Jose helped me buy a truck and he was the only non pushy salesman in the whole complex. Needed an oil change and alignment, told my service rep that I would be waiting in the lobby for the vehicle. She told me to have a seat and shouldn't be to long, mind you that I made an appointment for these services. It has now been 4 hours, I was told 35 minutes ago that would only be 20 more minutes. I was also told that if I said that I was staying she would've had it done sooner. What a joke, I'm not sure I will be doing any business with this place anymore. read more

I play in a touring band and we had some major van/trailer issues that stranded us in Salt Lake. Ron got us in immediately and the mechanics there were the first people (we went to three different places across the country) who were able to accurately diagnose and solve our issues. They did it quickly, and were fair on price. Can't say enough good things about the staff there in general. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful. Brought my Chevy here for regular maintenance -- oil change, alignment, etc. All of the services were done quickly and pleasantly. The car wash at the end is always a nice touch. Carla Bush played a huge role in helping it happen on time and with professionalism and a cheerful attitude. I'm usually pretty quick to give places the benefit of the doubt and you have to go out of your way for me to complain because nobody's perfect and we all have bad days. However... if the problem is over several days to a week, it's evident to me that it's a culture issue. I kept getting excuses that technicians were out sick and it took a long time to get answers. We were charged $400+ for a diagnostic/computer hook up that ended up being basically useless. They seemed understaffed, under qualified, and not concerned at all with getting my problem solved. I would describe the service staff I personally encountered as glib. Attitude toward your customers goes a long way, positive or negative. I'm happy to pay extra money for dealer service because of the reliability. Wasted a lot of time going back and forth and I'm out 400.00. I will not go back. read more

Given the run around all week, a simple fix on my hood and lied to 3 different times when it would be done only to waste my time back and forth. Also told a part would be over nighted and put on but yet again lied to, so now I have to wait even longer to have the part put on. Even after a full week, they couldn't put it on. I paid that much for a new truck and they came in be honest and do it right the first time, I just keep getting put off or pushed away each time you need help from them. When they had my hood scoop for the week they let it get scraped and slid on something causing scratches. read more

Do NOT purchase a vehicle from this dealership unless you would like to be without said vehicle for months on end, then display a smoke show from the engine every day after you receive it back. Buying a car from Michael Deyer through this dealership was smooth, everyone was fantastic to work with, and i feel like I was taken care of. They were able to get me in a brand new 2024 Chevy Trax because my past car unfortunately needed replacement, and everything was fabulous! I pick the car up, some minor cosmetic issues (dent from transit, not ideal but It's alright) but otherwise, great car! It's been one year owning this car, and it's only been in MY possession for 5 months out of the 12. I've had to handle some very severe mechanical issues and have had to replace the entire engine at this point, due to improper assembly/major recalls on the engine, and now the air conditioning is out and has not been replaced since breaking in June, 2024; it is now November of 2024 and I cannot drive anywhere without the overwhelming smell of smoke due to AC compressor fluid burning on my engine (because the required parts have been on back order for nearly 6 months) I just recently hit 10k miles in this car and have had to replace more in the engine compartment than my 11 year old car I had previously. It is very disappointing to see that these are the vehicles being sold to trusting buyers. Wouldn't recommend. Invest your money into a vehicle you can rely on. read more

All was well from selection, purchase, finance, and accessories servicing. Just felt that there is quite a bit of typical game playing going on that honestly most car dealerships do anyways. The sales associate we worked with is deserving of five stars however, it's the sour icing on the cake story that demoted this experience. Funny story with the scratch off card that we allegedly thought we won, anyways four staff members later and no follow through by any of them or any reasonable explanation as to why we perhaps can't have the prize we won is the true reflection of the dealership after the sale and therefore merits for this four star review. read more

It's rare for me to take the time to submit a review. Riverton Chevy has a great selection of vehicles, however it's not worth the other issues I've encountered. Issue #1: Riverton Chevy is relentless is their constant contact. They text me (to trade in my vehicle, to buy a new vehicle, etc.), send letters in the mail (for maintenance, warranties, trade-in, buy new cars etc.), they call. I have never been contacted this often by another company. Every time I ask them to stop contacting me they just ignore me and keep at it. I'll bet they would respond if I wanted to trade, buy, repair, or get a new warranty. It's just rude! Issue #2: At the time of sale, they were extremely misleading about the interest rate. This was 6-years ago, and with an exceptional credit score and huge down payment, they tried to sneak in an inappropriately high interest rate. I get that's part of the "negotiation" process, but be prepared and watch out. I would never buy another vehicle from Riverton Chevy simply due to what I consider harassment and zero concern for not wanting to be contacted. I'm sure they'll say they are just trying to take care of me, but this is way beyond that. It's totally unacceptable and not worth buying a car from them. read more

This dealership calls me non stop trying to schedule service for my vehicle.to the point that it's starting to be harassing. So I make an appointment for an oil change 2 weeks in advance. I get to the dealership I drop the truck off 15 minutes early before my scheduled appointment and ask how long it's going to be they tell me an hour... ok reasonable I can wait an hour. 2 hours later I'm still waiting and haven't heard anything. I ask them how much longer and they tell me it's going to be at least another half hour. If I'd have known it was going to be 2 and a half to 3 hours I would have left and come back. Horrible experience working with this car dealership. Tanner, who was helping with the lemon law replacement was very unprofessional and rude. Refused to call me back. Refused to respond to any of my text messages. Not only that, he called me to let me know that he would not earn any money off of a lemon law replacement and asked me if he could do the financial part on his end to "earn some money." I had high hopes for this dealership, but the ball was dropped several times. Hopefully, they do better in the future. read more

PLEASE LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS, do not let them work on your vehicle, the techs are poorly trained they will guess a problem costing thousands in unnecessary repair to try to fix the issue and if they don't fix it you still have to pay thousands on parts replaced that were still good. I paid the $5,000 to swap parts that were not broken(I have proof) even after I told them hago was not the issue they ended up not fixing the truck and I was out $5,000 dollar. A better diesel mechanic fixed it and found some parts that were installed wrong missing bolts and gaskets sticking out a broken up pipe for being forced to flex. WILL NOT RETURN HERE NOT EVEN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. read more

We took our Chevrolet Volt to be repaired. The person who called to tell us about the repair gave us the wrong information with what the repair was. The only thing that was correct was that it would take at least 2 weeks and the cost. We went to pick up the car after the repair and it had been sitting outside for 2 weeks. UPDATE: Truck broke down yet again while in Park City I took the truck to Mike Hale Chevy in park City. After meeting with the service manager he asked why I had some of the service completed. I told him that Riverton Chevy said that is what was required by chevy at the 60,000 mile mark. Not only is this not true its complete BS. Riverton Chevy has there "OWN" service recommendations they are not the manufactures at all. In fact several of the services Riverton Chevy preformed on my truck chevy recommends you do NOT do. No not go off what they say or the info in the service department. Take a min pull your owners manual out and see what the manufacture really recommends. Mike Hale when out of there way and ensured all the work they completed was covered under my warranty. They even pointed out everything Riverton said was not under warranty is in fact covered. I also learned from Mike Hale that towing and rental car is also covered under chevy warranty. I simply cannot buy that truck knowing that it has a serious electric problem! Scott did remind me that it has a 30 day warranty. But that sounds rather ridiculous when your mechanics can't diagnose the problem, because it could take time for the problem to manifest itself again. It was down played to possibly a water short from pressure washing the motor. So what every time it rains or I wash it I have to worry about it shorting out again. The entire instrument cluster SHUT DOWN while driving! Not knowing what speed you are in or gear you are in or any of the other vital information that is displayed on there, seems like something that shouldn't be down played so much. The salesman was there and saw it too! Furthermore this brings me to the ethics of Riverton Chevrolet. I have purchased four vehicles from your company in the past (this truck would have been my fifth). It really makes question the integrity and values of your company if the management team isn't willing to work out a plan to have something fixed down the road that they know is malfunctioning now and just can't be identified yet. read more

I had the best experience with Riverton Chevy in South Jordan. I took my 2019 Chevy Traverse in for a routine oil change & asked about having someone look at some scratches on the driver side door. Preston Jeppesen in the service department had Tony the detailer look at them & buffed them out FOR FREE! I am so disappointed. I have always known car sales was one of the most dishonest businesses around but RIverton Chevrolet has proven it! Our salesman was great and so was the finance guy. Michael ( I think his name was) on the other hand was a pure joke!! He offered $2000.00 on the trade in. The vehicle was just purchased for $15,000.00 in August from another dealership that he had nothing but awful things to say about. He was told the offer was too low. He came back offering $4000.00 with paperwork showing that the car had been in a really bad wreck and was not safe to drive. He said it could not be resold and would be sent to the auction. Well it is proudly being advertised at Riverton Chevrolet for $9450.00. Their mechanics must be absolutely fabulous!!! The worst part of this is that Michael told us several times that the goal of Riverton Chevrolet is to have return customers that do not want to shop elsewhere. DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR SERVICED AT THIS LOCATION! Had my Chevy Cruze in a couple years ago because I stripped my oil plug. I was told the whole oil pan needed replaced and it was $500. Fast forward to today my car is at the dealership in AF and they tell me the seal on the oil pan is leaking and they want to replace it. I said the dealer in Riverton replaced it just a couple years ago. I brought up that I could maybe do that myself and he said it was a 10 hour job. When Riverton "replaced" my oil pan they did it in 45 min. I know this because I have a device in my car that sends me notifications when the car is started. Riverton Chevrolet did not change my oil pan but charged me for changing it. Do not bring your car here for service if you do not want to be lied to. read more

Made an appointment, arrived on time and was told my oil change would take 1 hour. After 1 1/2 hours waiting, nothing had been done. I saw them pulling my car into the dock to work on it. No communication to me about being backed up, or I would have made other arrangements. Waiting with a 7 year old for 2 hours for an oil change is not ok!!! I have been super impressed with Riverton Chevrolet. I bought a 2017 Silverado over a year ago here. The purchase process was great Carlos was our sales guy and he still checks in even now and not just to try to sell me another vehicle. But what is even more impressive is Fred in the service department. He has taken care of us so many times and made sure we are happy. Recently we had to have our 60k mile maintenance done. I was very impressed with how quickly they got us in and reasonable the cost was. We also had an issue with the fuel rail and injectors. I feel like Fred went above and beyond for us. Super great people and I don't feel at all like I am being price gouged like I usually do working with a dealership. They have made a long time customer out of me. Thanks guys! read more

My car has been in this shop for 3 weeks. We had trouble with the car going into shift. They said they had never seen this problem before. Each week I was told it would be done that week. I picked it up yesterday and the same problem popped up. Plus the heat has stopped working now. I cannot drive my car without the worry of being stranded in the cold with young kids. Called many times (multiple days). They will not offer a service car to use while your car is in their shop. If you are reading this please, please, please go to a different shop. We were already disappointed that, having dealt with Chevy Corporate on a factory defect in our van's A/C and facing a $1500 repair, corporate had flat-out refused to take accountability for the problem or offer any kind of discount/reimbursement for the repair. But we finally scraped the funds together, bit the bullet and, made an appointment to bring our car in to Riverton Chevrolet for an appointment on a Saturday at 10 AM. We brought the van in as planned, and they said they'd look at it and call us to confirm the diagnoses and give an estimated price of repair once they'd diagnosed it. 11:00 went by. No call. Noon went by. No call. 1:00 went by. No call. 2:00 went by. No call. I texted them about five minutes later. No answer. Called the ten minutes after that. On hold for five minutes or so, then was hung up on. Tried again. On hold five more minutes, then hung up on. Tried again. Around 2:30 I got through to a live person who confessed that they *hadn't even looked* at the car yet, and that they probably wouldn't be able to do so before Monday and maybe not until Wednesday. I can understand being busy. I can't understand their making appointments they know they can't keep, or not immediately letting me know when I dropped off the car that they couldn't begin work for at least 48 hours. The facility was clean and the staff was apologetic, but I need to trust someone a lot if I'm going to pay them to do a $1K+ job for me; and trust and rapport with this facility was simply destroyed at that point. I hope Riverton Chevrolet gets their scheduling fixed, and I wish them well--but I won't be back. read more

Unprofessional. Dishonest. Deceitful. These are the words that come to mind regarding this shady car dealership. I even heard they encourage their sales people to make up fake user identities on sites like this to artificially inflate their numbers by giving 5-star ratings and bogus comments on a great buying experiences. Do yourself a favor and spend your hard-earned money elsewhere like I did. Riverton Chevrolet took 5 business days to repair my Cruze; it cost me $2964 for the repairs. They don't have time to give you updates on your car repairs. You call their service center to get information; you are bothering them! My car has oil leaks after I picked it up; I was going to have them fix it right. It was very stressful dealing with them; so, I decided that I will take my Cruze to a different dealership. I sent e-mail to their service manager; I received no answer. Finance representatives slipped one in on us and were disappointed. You know when you purchase a new vehicle from a dealer they have you go into a small office with Plexiglas all in front of you to sign the Contract of Sale? But before that they try and sell you an extended warranty that includes everything, with exceptions for about $16k, which is crazy but obviously they make a big commission on it. My wife and I told him we weren't interested in any of it. So we signed what was put in front of us and went on our merry ways. When we got home we reviewed the documents and noticed they slipped in an extra page for insurance in case the vehicle was stolen. My regular insurance covers it so I would never buy something like that which would be subordinate to my own insurance anyway. I immediately called and wrote them to undo it. A month letter they sent me a cancel document to sign and told me that my title and license plates were being basically held hostage until I returned the signed document and they received their money back from the company that I cancelled. Another issue that bothered me; on their dealer site is a calculator to show you how much your "trade-in" is worth to them. I showed them what their site calculated as a $7k difference from their offer. After some back and forth they reduced the difference to $4k. I felt this was somewhat unethical. They suck you in then spit you out. Watch out! Even in Utah you have to be up for the challenge! read more

Update on my review from June. I gave it 3 starts because its A-OK. I take my Chevy in every now and then to do a Pit Stop (this service option is great). I came in just before Thanksgiving and I asked to do a pit stop. Wait time was about 45min. When my car was ready I was told that I would need to change the battery. The cost for that was about $200. I informed the Service guy that I spoke with that I had changed my battery a few months earlier. So the service guy that I spoke with called the technician working on my car to confirm if my battery was bought with RC which it wasn't, I told him I got it from Auto Zone so he told me to just to take it back to Auto Zone because my battery should still have warranty on it. I give it 3 stars for the Service Guy. I drove to AutoZone and they checked my battery life with me and showed me that my battery was perfect and did not need to be changed at all. read more
