I was wondering why this place was only rated about 3.8. Unfortunately I found out why. We came here for Thanksgiving Dinner 2022. I ordered the Grilled Ham Steak. The ham steak was small and extremely thin. It was very dry and over cooked. Even though it was thin I still had difficulty cutting it. If it wasn't for the cherry glaze sauce it would have been completely uneatable. It came with three asparagus spears and three clumps of something that I thought was supposed to be sweet potatoes but I'm not sure. This was easily the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant. Overcooked and overpriced small portions. This was our first and last visit here. Extremely disappointed. read more

I'm not a complainer but this food must be inconsistent because some people say it's good and some say it's bad. My steak was okay. My calamari had absolutely no flavor. The mashed potatoes were an odd texture, they weren't smooth. My mom and grandpa ordered the salmon and it was dry and had an odd taste. My steak was more soft than the salmon. Our waitress was very kind but the manager was kind of rude and aggressive when asking what was wrong with the salmon & doesn't really seem like a people person or someone with good customer service. This is a special occasion place. On the river, watching planes come in at the Philly airport and beautiful view. It's a great venue also. We celebrated my gfs bday. We had a lovely, wonderful time. It was busy, we had drinks at the uncrowded bar then ask for our table and we were sat. Everyone's food was great, not wonderful for the little fortune we pay. I think they should get rid of the obnoxiously huge menu....and have a much smaller menu so the chef and concentrate on the important little things that count. I would like to start off by saying the ambience is perfect especially if you're sitting out on a beautiful night on the back patio. However, our meal didn't show up for 45 minutes and it wasn't very crowded on a Thursday night. After waiting that long, my filet mignon was cold and I was very hungry. When the waiter came back and said well, why did you eat it cold? I could've taken it back. I said well then I would've received it 20 more minutes later and it would've been terribly dry. What about the idea of having runners from your kitchen to the patron so that it doesn't get cold by sitting therep waiting for the waiter to show up and take it to the customer. Thank you Chef Sam Bankman My wife and I made reservations at 12pm for two at the Riverwinds Restaurant for their 2022 Family Style Roasted Turkey Thanksgiving Dinner. We were very much looking forward to it since it was my first Thanksgiving off from work in 10yrs. What a HORRIBLE disappointment! I am compelled to share this HORRIBLE meal experience. When we were seated, we were informed that parties of 2 were not eligible for the Family Style Thanksgiving dining and that we would be served an "already prepared" and "preportioned" dinner plate. A bit confused to the comment but agreeable, looking forward to this roasted turkey dinner. The waitress brought our "preportioned" plates to the table consisting of NO roasted turkey but the following: -Two small thin slices of Turkey Loaf Roll that looked and tasted like a wood chips - Stuffing that was almost a liquid due to it being so mushy. - Luke warm mash potatoes with NO gravy - Two boiled plain sweet potatoes with NO type of glaze or cinnamon butter - A few pieces of asparagus with no butter or seasoning - Mashed turnips on my plate by not on my wife's plate - Carrots I guess? - And are you ready for this, a tablespoon serving of jelly cranberry sauce served on the plate in a clear plastic Dixie cup. I wish I took a picture of this presentation. My wife and I were just looking at the plates shocked and horrified. After a few cautious tastes, this meal was so very low-end cafeteria frozen food at best. We just sat there looking at each other and these two plates just shaking our heads in disbelief for about 5 minutes until our waitress noticed us and came back to the table. We explained to the waitress as mentioned and ask for our check. She was very empathetic and said she would notify the manager. She returned with our check and she informed us of the commented response from the manager was, "That is what we are serving for dinner". The manager provided no apology or the respect to greet us tableside. Total lack of professionalism and customer service. In addition we paid a $125.00 for a Thanksgiving dinner of crap. Based on this meal and the manager, I am not sure how Riverwinds could receive any type of food or NJ restaurant awards. Any of their posted awards have to be based on insider favors or just plain BS. *NOTE* as we left the restaurant, we spoke to a few folks that were discussing the same experience in the parking lot. The food was amazing! I recommend the fried mozzarella bruschetta. It was amazing! The crabby delight was okay. I would ordered the shrimp and filet mignonette next time. My bf got the filet mignon and shrimp and it was amazingly seasoned. The dessert was good too as well as the Caesar salad. Both the skinny coloda and the strawberry mojito were really good. The amazing ambiance is what brings you here. After that it is the food, drink and wonderful servers. In the restaurant business they change like the wind but some become family. Shauna and Brenda are like that. These are two who stood the test of time,as Riverwinds seems to have a knack of hiring the best of the best, these two are the friendly faces we look for when walking in. Had the chance to try this place out with a friend. We arrived and were escorted to the dining area. My friend, who is black, was asked to remove his ball cap as we were seated. So far no problem. As our meal was winding down I began to look at other customers who were seated after we were. I noticed that there were 3 white individuals who were not required to remove hats or ball caps. I pointed it out to my friend, who addressed management as we were leaving. There was no satisfactory resolution. We will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Myself and 9 others went here on Father's Day 6/21/2020 and sat outside on the lawn near the river due to Covid-19. It was beautiful. First time here and the food was pretty good. The menu was limited due to Covid-19, but had enough items on the menu to be satisfied. The hostess and the waitress was very nice and attentive. I gave it 4 stars, only because the drinks were pretty weak, but I will definitely visit again once New Jersey gets in the green phase so I can explore more of the menu and a stronger drink. My Mom and I came here for a baby shower. It was the first time for both of us. It was soooo nice!!!! We didn't realize that Riverwinds is basically a huge compound. It felt like we were on a vacation resort! Everything was bright, open, fresh, modern. It looked so nice!!! There were two long tables for guest dining. There was an app table, a mimosa table and two long tables set up for gifts. The service was good. They had people walking around offering additional beverages. They took our order, brought our food out and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was very delicious! There was a medley of apps being offered such as crab stuffed mushrooms and calamari. The calamari had hot pepper slices mixed in which were so, so good!!!! We both got a crab cake for lunch which was a great size and was served with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Very delicious! They had nice single stall bathrooms which were large, modern and clean. Overall, this was a great place for a baby shower. It was so clean, modern and inviting! The grounds were beautiful. The food was delicious and very fresh. For starters my husband and I shared the Lump Crab Cocktail and the Shrimp Cocktail. Decided to finally try this establishment which was triggered by a gift certificate, a birthday and the close proximity to my home. I gotta say this is the classic bark being bigger then the "bite" story. Place is located on the Delaware Rivers edge that provided a nice view of not only the city of Phila's skyline and airplane after airplane lifting off from the airport throw in few ships and boats floating by, dress the place up nicely decorated and you off to a great start. Bring in a sweet, friendly server and things are looking pretty good right? Well the Asian Tuna Tartar and the Calamari was very good, so now for the salad......wait for it ....wait for it ... and that we did. After a 30 minute wait our entrees show up as our server simply forgot our salad course. Ok after several apologies from her we decided to start with our entrées as she brought our salads on the side. Problem, all of our entrées were cold and I do mean inedible cold. Three of the five of us decided to send theirs back for the proper temperature but at that point I have lost my appetite. Finally I strongly urged the waitress to send the manager over but instead of the general manager we were addressed by a head waiter. Suffice it to say our evening was not the best and I finally did track down the general manager but at that point the damage had been done. They tried to make up for it but the night was loss. I was really hoping this would have been better since it is located nearby but I don't think I'll be coming back even though they tried to make up for it. A $$$ price tag deserves much better overall experience. Kudos to the GM who handed me a VIP card on the way out that I will probably pass on to someone I know that frequents the place. read more

Had the worst customer service experience with the manager Bill. Bill told me he was hanging up on me bc he had other things to deal with. They called twice in an hour to confirm my reservations. I told the girl I already confirmed. She cut me off so I asked to speak with the manager. Bill told me the girl is super nice and he will defend her until the end. Wow. Completely disregarded my experience with her. I asked for his supervisor And he said he doesn't answer to anyone. I asked is this your restaurant, he said no. Privileged folks who don't see from another perspective. They both may want to work in a field that does not involve the public. I never like it there anyway. Wow! Awesome experience from start to finish! My daughter made reservations for outside dining on Sunday afternoon. This was for a party of 18! They were extremely accommodating in making this reservation possible even though they said they don't normally take reservations for outside especially on a Sunday at 5:00. However we had some members of the party who don't eat indoors due to the pandemic. So...now it's Sunday at 4:30 and raining! Their service was unbelievable! Not only did they give us indoor seating, but they gave us a private room which was perfect for those who chose not to be indoors. A huge table for 18! I have never seen such an accommodating staff! Sorry for getting around for my review of the RiverWinds restaurant 2 weeks late. I just had to write my review after reading some of the bad reviews. The reviews I read must not have eaten at the same restaurant as I. Being a resident of West Deptford I am so glad we finally got an upscale restaurant in our town. I went there with my family of 7 adults for a nice dinner and sunset. I've been telling my brothers about the wonderful dinners we have been having here (especially the crab cake dinner). We all decided to get the crab cake dinner and everyone of us said the same how great and how much lump crab there was in our meal, not one person was dissatisfied. Not to mention the beautiful restaurant itself and the beautiful sites of the Philly skyline. read more

Ok...so brought our family of 10 here for a birthday. The service was excellent. The food quality and portions don't warrant the prices they charge. Grouper special was mediocre. Was bland looking/tasting and the serving was very small for $37. The chicken marsala was tasty and the mushrooms were fresh cut but for $35 I expect more than a very thin 3oz piece. Rack of Lamb($45)was good and plate looked great. Steak and potato were good. Swordfish was good. Nice serving. Crab cake was good. The clam chowder looked and taste like it came out of a progresso can and add to that they burnt the the bottom of the pot which makes the whole pot taste burnt. Soup 101...stir the bottom or turn down the heat. Gross. Deserts were from a box im guessing. Nothing special. Salads were good. Food was near diner quality for a really pricey menu. I wont go back. River view is nice and I dont want to make the place sound awful but their quality of food does not match the setting and prices. Yesterday, I was at work event hosted at the Riverwinds Restaurant. The highlight for me was the service. The staff went out of there way to make sure there were vegetarian options on the banquet table. I really appreciated how quickly they identified this and sprung into action. Soon after, a chafing dish of delicious pasta primavera arrived. It was enjoyed by both vegetarians and omnivore alike. The 5 star service made for an excellent evening. The drink list here is solid. I went with their namesake cocktail, The Riverwinds. It has Stoli vodka, Chambord, and pineapple juice. It's basically their take on a french martini and was very refreshing. The Riverwinds also has amazing views. The restaurant is situated on a cool spot where you can see the river and the sky line of Philly. You can also see flights landing and taking off from the airport without having to hear the noise. read more

Went last night for my Aunt and Uncle Anniversary. I'm gonna start from the beginning to the very end. Never heard or knew West Deptford had this beautiful restaurant, #YAAASSSS. If you aren't lucky finding parking they have valet but my family and I found park towards the front. Walking up to the entrance the doors have dolphins embroidered on it (wheelchair accessible, coat check (fall/winter month I'm assuming) continued to walk o the hosts the open floor plan is amazing, a breath of fresh air. Both host hosts greeted my family (kind and pleasant), walked us to our table where I sat next to the bar on the back right and when seated on the left side you have the river and you can see the skyline of Philadelphia. There were a couple of people sitting outside as well; this dinner was starting off great. Just to get to the food part, Avocado Tuna TarTar was amazing (sweet and savory), the mari grea something Mussels (Sorry I forgot what it was called, I think it's new on the menu too) also bomb and the portion is big. I wish I had ordered spaghetti or pasta b/c the sauce is perfect. My cousin and sister had the lobster ravioli and both said it's filling, big portions and taste amazing. My server Donna was amazing, she took the time to go over the specials and answer all my question about the seafood ( if you love seafood this is the place to go as well) but Donna deserves praise for last night and just being who she is. Thank-you for being so welcoming and enjoyable during our evening with you. Thank-you Donna. This is my new favorite restaurant. Great ambiance with a fabulous bar overlooking the Delaware river on the New Jersey side. Menu is reasonably priced but the lunch specials at $12 are the stars here. Started off sharing crispy calamari which was lightly hand breaded and cooked to perfection. Hubby got the blackened salmon off the regular menu and the salmon was not over cooked. I got the salmon cake lunch special which had lumps of salmon in it --really delicious. Excellent wine list and five star service. Afterwards we took a stroll and sat along the Delaware river capping off an excellent lunch excursion. read more

The outdoor seating here was so beautiful. The river and Philadelphia skyline was a great lunch view. The drinks were delicious and had a nice amount of alcohol in them. The antipasto platter was different from what I have had before but was still delicious. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were huge! I was very pleased with those. Riverwinds is our go-to for every occasion including a date night or dinner with friends. Our family has had many parties and gatherings at Riverwinds and the atmosphere, food, martinis and friendly staff never disappoint! The staff gets to know the customers and makes sure everything is perfect each time we go. The martini list is the best around with my favorite being the Blood Orange. Whether just having bar appetizers or a full Christmas Eve dinner, everything is always delicious. Some of our family favorites are the Sea Bass, Filet, cheesesteak egg rolls & ahi tuna appetizer. It's so nice to be able to sit almost anywhere in the restaurant and view the beautiful scenery of the river. In warmer weather the patio is relaxing and scenic. Riverwinds restaurant has fantastic food and atmosphere. During the covid period I had the pleasure of eating at this establishment over a dozen times. Each time the food was fantastic and the service impeccable . How ever this must have been during a period when they were desperate for clientele. See of those dozen prior visits I wore a hat . At no point was that a big deal or even a remotely unacceptable problem. I was courteous and dressed business casual. What infuriates me is the fact they interrupted an anniversary dinner to bring up a silly and trivial request. Not only that but there were two other gentleman already seated in this area with hats on. This made me feel singled out based off my appearance. I felt alienated and it kept me from enjoying my dinner. I will no longer frequent this establishment because of this. You may think this is silly but I put a hi value on moral standing . The hat may have been a sign of disrespect in the 1950's but just like everything else the social stigma has changed. I cant help but feel like I was swindled because it was okay to wear the hat and eat at Riverwinds when the cash flow was slowed during the pandemic's height. Now I'm back back to being the Non-desirable. In a climate when you legitimately can Identify as a animal. Which is some how socially expectable.
