Ate dinner last night with the wife at Rivets. Each of us had a burger. She had a mixed drink. I had a beer. That's it. The bill with my 20% tip came to $80. I don't mind spending money for a nice dinner with my spouse. I look forward to it! But come on - this is bar food. $80 for a couple burgers and a drink each. I will say the burgers were good. So, there's that. But, I'll be going elsewhere in the future. read more

My girlfriends and I had lunch at Rivets probably 10 or 15 years ago. While we liked the food, at the time we thought $17 for a sandwich was completely outrageous. We get bored with the options here in Modesto, so we decided to try Rivets again. Again the prices are astronomical. A sandwich should not cost $20. I ordered the cod bites and fries. Cod is a very mild fish. The fish I got was very very fishy. The taste was way too strong for a fresh fish. I really couldn't eat it. Everyone had a slightly negative comment about their meals. We would give them another try, but their prices are stupid! I know that prices of risen, and it's hard to do business, specially in the restaurant industry, but they seem to be gouging the people who purchase from them. I live just blocks from this place and saw the breakfast sign today and had to stop in. Wife had the breakfast burrito, which was huge, and I had the French toast. We came in around 0900hrs and no wait, service was quick and on point. And I must say, everything was two thumbs up but the coffee was surprisingly good. No ding at the place but I always assume bad coffee. But I was wrong! I will be coming back for breakfast again. read more

Amazing food, amazing drinks. Walked over to enjoy some apps and drinks and was not disappointed. The sampler was divine alongside their strong and tasty drinks. Noticed there was also a great selection of other liquor, including whiskey flights ranging from 18-22$ as far as I recall. Have also tried their burgers at an earlier date that were to die for. Wow! What a fantastic meal.from beginning to end. This was my first visit and I have to say that I have found my new French dip spot. Finally a thins sliced sandwich. My biggest complaint with these sandwiches have always been the thickness of the meat and having to chew forever and ever with each bite. This sandwich was delicious and the side of chips were gone! Homemade fried potatoes that come with a sauce my husband enjoyed but I did not. I am not a fan of onions at all. But, the chips dipped in ketchup worked fine for me. I will definitely be back. Rivets has good menu variety . I think most restaurants lack quality if the kitchen is in a hurry. The fries are regularly soggy even ordered extra crispy. I would just change them altogether. Ok, the reason for review is I ordered regular bacon versus the cured bacon. The plate came out with cured bacon and was very under cooked ...which is gross for that kind of bacon. I took the time to return the meal and on the second attempt got regular bacon but it was practically raw. This is a consistent experience at Modesto restaurants not all ...hurried food less quality. read more

Big and very disappointing change, And I'm sure will negatively impact them. They are longer pat friendly on the patio, was asked if our dog was a service dog. (Which is actually illegal). But being honest we said no and was turned away. So ya, lost two stars, no reason to have changed, unless they have new idiot owners. so many restaurants in the area are and have always been pet friendly on their patio. Apparently, providing a safe,friendly, and enjoyable dining/drinking experience, which Rivets always does upsets some. I highly recommend Rivets to anyone who is looking for fun filled time. The food is always excellent, as is the drinks. I was treated to an unscheduled comedy skit when a small-time backyard band decided they could treat staff like dirt. The lead bartender dealt with the situation professionally. If I were this bartender, I would have pursued a not so professional route that would have truly given this group exactly what they deserved. There was a large crowd that arrived a few hours later that packed the place and enjoyed their experience like normal folks. Meet companion for lunch, the atmosphere is some what dark but clean. We were sat immediately my chose. i had the So cal chicken bun-less burger, $16, with a side salad. It was a grilled chicken breast topped with sliced avocados on a bed of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and mayo. I really enjoyed it, the chicken had flavor was moist. The side salad was disappointing simple red leaf lettuce with one slide of cucumber, 6 croutons, so bland bland bland bland. I ordered red balsamic dressing....it was so sweet I passed. Champion had the Fancy burger..... huge $18. It was a patty topped with pork belly, onion ring, red onion, tomato, and lettuce, somewhere in there is mayo. When our waiter, Aaron, sat that down on the table our jaws dropped. I told my companion, "I am videoing you to see how your going eat that burger." The onion rings we ordered (+2) with it were crispy but bland. The onion ring batter had no flavor. There was ranch on the side to help that issue. Best service and food. This is my first time at this pub and it did not disappoint. I had the peanut butter burger with jalapeño jelly and it was delicious! The service was outstanding. My wife and I came here to order some food. The host explained to us it would be 45 minutes or so before we could get a table, and asked us if we would be okay sitting at the bar until then. We accepted and sat down. After a few minutes, it was noticeably busy, and I expressed this to my wife. The owner, who was taking care of the bar, got very rude very quickly and told us that we should leave. After attempting to order a drink, we left. The owner is very unprofessional and treated us like we were some street trash. I have come here plenty of times, and this will be my last. I ordered the linguica burger. I thought they forgot the linguica links because they were so small, they hid under the slice of cheese. It was 2 "links", each about 1.5 inches long. The patties were small, no flavor & you could tell they were the frozen patties (think Costco) not fresh ground beef. The side salad was also extremely small and very sad looking. It was a small appetizer bowl with about 4 croutons in it. That's it! How does this qualify as a salad? Silverware was dirty and I asked for a new cup of water as mine arrived with lipstick marks already on it. The fabric napkins reeked of fabric softener which is not eczema friendly. Save your money and make your own food. Good looking place with a fun vibe but I'm guessing they've only survived this long because of their bar revenue. was disgusted at the bartenders behavior 6/23 the evening dirty lies an alibis was supposed to play. Was excited to see them we arrived for a booth I noticed the bartender making rude remarks to one of the band members an then he went over an got in his face an started yelling at him. Before tha I didn't see anything transpire that would warrent that bartender to confront him an act that way. He told them to fucking leave so the band responded by getting on the mic an saying they were now playing at SBG an to follow for the show! We left hadn't even been waited on in the 20 minutes we were seated anyways. Service was lacking. Bartender was unprofessional we left an enjoyed the show at Stevenson bar an grill. This band is far from unprofessional. Far from disrespectful. They have children at their shows all the time. If they called that bartender an asshole it's because he most definitely was being one. I heard pics where sent by someone who stayed back at rivets an it shows a VERY empty restaurant after DLA left. DLA is more professional an better than this establishment. They are on to bigger things. They are rocking SBG again July 7th an I urge you to go see them.. go see them preform at other bars an you will find that they are the nicest ppl.
