Came here with my fiancé and some friends. It was very quick to sit even though it was busy and the food was pretty good. It ends there. We all ordered fajitas. Veggie for me and fiancé and the friends got one with shrimp. 5 tortillas for 4 people. Awesome. Had to pay extra for more. I guess the chicken fajitas come with rice and beans but the veggie ones don't. So rice and beans cost extra but the chicken fajitas it's included. Won't be returning, which sucks because the food was ok. Also over priced. read more

I have been coming here for years and the food, drinks and service is decent. Until I received my bill. I paid for my food and included the tip. When I got my bill the waitress added what she wanted to the tip after I left. I contacted my credit card company and had it reversed. Another time my daughters and I came here the bill was $116.00 and they added a 20% gratuity to my bill. I politely told him I am not giving you a $22.00 tip. Where in your policy does it say that? He couldn't tell me. I told him do not put that tip on my credit card. I will give you cash. He acted like he didn't understand English and ran it anyway. I asked for a manager, he said that there wasn't one working and told me the machine is not going to allow him to take off the tip. I did not sign the credit card receipt. I got up and left because I was upset. You have no say so over how much you get tipped and then take it upon yourself and add it to my credit card. Nope! What nerve. Better believe it I had that taken off my bill as well. I'm am tired of coming to this restaurant were the waitress and waiter that served me literally tried to steal their tip right in front of my face and didn't think I would catch it. read more

CHECK YOUR BILL. PAY ATTENTION THE MENU PRICES. Food was alright, service was fine. You will have multiple people serving you. Prices are rather high. My friend and I ordered two different entrees and when we got the bill, the prices of each were $1 higher than what the menu stated. When we finally flagged down someone that the bill was incorrect, they did not believe us or say sorry. They brought us menus and we had to show them that the prices were different. When they finally returned with the new bill that was split, they disappeared quickly. Food was decent, but would probably go elsewhere. Be careful!! read more

I regretfully tried this place out on a Saturday night when every other restaurant on Summer Street was packed. I should have known from the second I walked into this place when we were awkwardly seated in the middle of what appeared to be a dance floor. Maybe this place makes a better lounge than restaurant. We ordered the ceviche and tortilla soup to start. The ceviche was lacking cilantro and enough lime juice to make it worth while. Pretty sure we were munching of some prepackaged frozen shrimp, Chinese food quality. The tortilla soup was bland and served barely above room temperature. Horrible. Our entrees did come out pretty fast. I ordered the skirt steak and she ordered the chicken quesadilla. The skirt steak was good nothing special, hence the one star. The second star is for the fairly nice guy trying to earn a decent living in this place. Speedy service... All in all, I was expecting authentic Mexican cuisine and ended up with fast food style and poor quality Mexican crap. This is my first poor review and I do so regretfully but report to you honestly to try and uphold the integrity of the restaurants that are in Stamford. I won't be back for food, nor would I recommend it. I might check out the live band that plays there but until then... Get a decent kitchen organized and start serving some food worth eating! read more

I love this place. There are a lot of Mexican places, but this makes the difference. The decoration is original and beautiful. The servers are friendly, the food is delicious. I had carne poblana that was a very juicy delicious steak. Finally, a really plus is the guacamole, they make it in front of you it's so cool. Very recommend this place. I have literally died and went to Mexican Heaven!! This place is what I have been searching for since I moved to Stamford! I really think they have the perfect recipe. Great service (our waitress was funny, attentive and knowledgeable about the place) great environment (bar in front and seating with lights in the back and awesome...I mean awesome food ( literally they must have some old ladies in the kitchen seasoning every morsel of the food you eat)...mmmmmmm good. A must if you haven't tried. However be aware, don't order a whole bunch of sides...it gets expensive as they charge for lettuce, tomato and cheese that SHOULD come with your fajitas. read more

This place is totally underrated. They have a great happy hour with good wine and I recommend you get the guacamole, it's fantastic.

My friends invited me to hang out and eat some Mexican food while we watch the World Cup games but the service was terrible it took a while to order and then the food they gave us wasn't as expected The guacamole was good and the chips but everything else was terrible . Me and my boyfriend stopped in here on a Saturday evening around 8 since I was craving a margarita. I was surprised (and glad) they still had outdoor seating at this time- since any joint that has outdoor seating has a huge advantage over the others in my book, especially a place in a central location such as this one where people watching is always fun. I haven't been to many Mexican joints so I don't know how to base it's authenticity, but I found the food excellent. I ordered the chicken and cheese chimichunga from a very diverse menu. The wrap they used was delicious, and the chicken was far from dry. My only complaint was I wish they served cucumber salad like the joints I'm used to back home in Providence as opposed to diced lettuce and sour cream. My boyfriend ordered two chicken soft tacos, and although he said they were good they kept falling apart in his hands. The meals came with rice and beans, and they were just right- barely any pepper or spices. The best part though? The fresh guacamole. To die for. They have three different tiers of margaritas you can get, and I got the classic which ran me $10. You can go up in quality and flavor, and if I had more cash in my pocket I would be a little more daring. The service was fast, and we were continually checked in on. Would go again. read more

Please don't support this restaurant that allows their employees to put hands on women. I enjoyed this place a lot and decided to come here to celebrate my birthday with my cousin. We only had a pitcher of sangria and then ordered a pitcher of beer after. The bar and restaurant was closing for the night, but we still had about a beer left in our pitcher while finishing what was in our glass. I went to the bathroom and when I came back. This big, tall, bald, tattooed, mean, and strong bouncer came up to me and grabbed me by the wrist and told me I need to leave. I was so scared and I told him all I want to do is finish our last drink that we paid for. He did not let go of my wrist, in fact he gripped it harder and started to push me out of my seat and yelling at me to leave. I was terrified. The manager saw what happened and didn't do anything, the cameras captured everything that happened, and I called the police shortly after I was forced out of the restaurant by this mean man. I did not yell, I did not cause a scene, I paid for my meal and drinks, I was a paying customer enjoying my time out for my birthday and one of their employees decides they can put their hands on me and push me out of the restaurant. Unfortunately I have been too afraid to go back and press charges on this man because I do not want to deal with the court battle although my attorney suggests I do so. Please do not support this restaurant. The manager saw everything! He even came out to try and talk me down. I also have witnesses. Please don't support this place. There are many other Spanish restaurants in Stamford for you to enjoy. Had lunch on a Saturday. Outside, the displayed a lunch Menu, but once inside, we were given a dinner menu, and explained that they only use the lunch menu Monday-Friday. If I wasn't with friends, I would have left at that point, as the prices for lunch were too expensive. Margaritas were good, but not worth $10 a piece. Food tasted fresh, but portions were thin for the price. I think the food was about a B, but due to price and portion size, I would not return. read more

Terrible. I came in with my family for a birthday and the restaurant was barely full and they take over an hour for the food to come out . Then when it did come out , some of us got our food , others didn't . 10 more minutes till the rest of the food to come out. I ordered the tuna and lobster tail and both came out wayyyyy over cooked. Had to send it back and wait another 20 mins. When they brought the tuna back out (rare) it was still frozen inside. The lobster was extremely chewy and well cooked. Just an overall terrible experience. Won't be coming back here. read more

I don't think I would ever go back to this place, I felt the food was over priced and after paying over $30 for a steak fajita the least I would have expected is for all to come right (since after the first part of the dish came [i.e. the rice and beans] it took another 10 for the steak to come, and another 5 for the condiments, then asked for additional pico de gallo (which cost an additional $3 for a tiny cup) and after having to wait soo long to get the complete meal, was even more dissapointing, the guys would come often, but it felt they relied on one another to actually get the things. I've had much better quality Mexican food for the cost and I would not recommend it nor would go back ($200.00 bill was not worth it!) read more

Went to this restaurant was seated right away, 1 table a head of us 1 table came in behind us. They asked us to scan for the menu NP I'm thinking as a safety measure. Look around all the tables by us including the tables that came in w us have actual menus. Ok w.e. The other 2 tables orders were taken as well given chips and salsa as it comes w the table. We hadn't even yet been acknowledged. Finally waiter takes our drink order, delivers to table... still no chips, so I asked and he also took our orders at that time. Food came out quick We may have sat w our food for another 35 mins or so and not once did our waiter check on our table however we watched him check on EVERT table around us literally never even trying to make eye contact w our table just kept walking past while others were asked how their food was, did they need anything, you know regular restaurant etiquette. We were the only black people in the restaurant. Disgusted! The experience left a horrible taste in my mouth. Don't eat here. read more

It is hard to give this place a fair rating. I went to this restaurant for the first time last night. Upon walking in there was no one to seat us, we kind of just stood around until someone finally approached us. After being seated we gave our food and drink order at one time. The drinks (sangria) were good. After waiting what seemed like forever (25 minutes) even though there was only 4 tables seated at the time, the food came. My order was wrong- I asked for chicken and was served beef, kind of a major difference. In addition they give you about a teaspoon of sour cream- wouldn't be enough for the meal. So after I asked for chicken and finally received it, I asked for some extra sour cream. They charged $2.00 for it, which is absurd to begin with... But especially after getting my order wrong- you think they could have done something. The food was nothing spectacular but it wasn't bad- very average Mexican Food. My last issue with this place is the service. Once being seated and had our food and drinks order placed, no one came back the whole time to see if we wanted anymore drinks or chips- they lost out on money here. It was also very difficult to communicate with the staff seeing as they speak Spanish and I do not. When I was trying to explain what was wrong with my food (beef instead of chicken) no one could understand me. It was very frustrating. I probably would never go back. read more

Went with my daughter for guac and chips at the bar. There were two men sitting on one side and two women on another all sipping their drinks. There was someone behind the bar, putting on her tie, never acknowledging us. After a few minutes of just sitting there she came over and we ordered. After awhile I got the wine I had asked for and the waitress made our guacamole pleasantly. the other customers left the bar and we sat in the room alone. Riviera Maya is one of those restaurants I'd categorize under really GOOD Mexican. Not fantastic, but definitely good and reliable. What makes it really GOOD and not just good? FRESH GUACAMOLE and JALEPENO MARGARITAS. Yep, both take the award home for best I've ever had! The guacamole is made fresh at your table, exactly as you like it. Choose from any or all of the typical ingredients: onions, cilantro, tomato, salt, pepper, fresh-squeeze lime juice, and jalapenos to go as spicy (more please) or as mild (lame) as you want. The finished masterpiece is served up in a heavy stone bowl placed in the center of the table (or right in front of my face if you're dining with me). To wash it all down is the most fantastic margarita that both cools the senses and burns the tongue at the same time: the jalapeno margarita.
