It could tend to get loud in there at times but that's a part of its charm. A lot of beer decor to look at plus an old VCR playing your all time greatest movies. Super chill w/ lots of options. I have always liked variety and CapTap has it for sure. With 15'ish taps and the cans in the cooler you will find something you like and probably don't see very often. The service and patrons are friendly. There are sports and random movies rolling on the TVs. The patio is great too. The atmosphere is pub style. I've been here a few times. Both having a seat at the bar and getting some cans to go. The times I've been here, the place wasn't overly crowded, but if there is a small crowd, the bar tenders are usually on the bar side of the place and rarely managing the "store" side. The store side of the joint has fridges full of different types of beers from all over. You can find a great selection of brews here. Parking could be difficult because there are establishments people would like to frequent in the same plaza. Some really great dinning restaurants here actually. But if you can stop over after your lunch or dinner, this is a chill spot. read more

I am giving them Four Stars for their outstanding beer selection. But if you want any kind of Customer Service, forget it. If that was the criteria, I would give them a one star. I'm sure that is what has kept them alive all these years is the beer list. What is funny about it, is that a lot of the breweries that they represent, or pour for, have great customer service. But yet they really have a hard time doing anything extra for the customer. The owner was at the counter, and when I approached the counter, he pointed to the employee and said he'll take care of you. It's just really disappointing that they don't value their customers any more than they do. They had a taphouse in Midtown, and that no longer exist. The personal touch is so important. Hi Ken! I'm so happy to be getting around to writing this review. Cap tap is a cool place to go where everyone is very laid back and "everyone knows your name" kind of place. Nick and Eric are super nice and very knowledgeable about beer. Both enjoy their trade and it shows in their service and enjoyment of their job. Very professional indeed. Both always have suggestions for me based on my taste and I appreciate that so much! That really stands out to me as going above and beyond. Ken, the Owner is a very congenial person and I always enjoy when he is around. He is a super good time and great sport. Lots of patience, stands off to the side and is very unassuming. The ambiance is friendly and a neat throwback to the 80's 90's with old VHS movies always playing. It's mostly belly up to bar kind of men, but to be expected at a tap house. They have a huge selection of beer. I do wish they had more lagers on tap. They have pilsners to offset it and a huge can selection in their fridge, but I still wish he had at least one more lager on tap. That's the only real minus I could point out. I can't believe I stumbled upon this place and I absolutely love it. So many options of beer. So many tasters. I was in absolute heaven! I always love a place that has malty beers such as Porters and Stouts and there were plenty for me to taste from. Sometimes it's hard to get a whole pint of a porter and a stout so that's why I adore this place so much because I could get three tasters that were just right amount that let me taste different types of beers. The parking is horrendous to get here! It took 40 minutes to find a parking spot. I met a group of coworkers here who all had the same issue. The beer is expensive, we paid $8/pint for a light beer and they had a $1 corkage fee for their cans... There are similar businesses in Lincoln and Granite Bay without the steep fees and cheaper beer, better atmosphere and parking, etc. read more

Staff is *fantastic*, beer selection great too, and the overall vibe of the place is just relaxing and fun. We've even recommended a few different ciders/sours to them to carry and it's a nice surprise once we see them in stock. Definitely the place to go if you're looking to try craft beers/ciders/sours (on tap or in bottle/can). They have a rotating menu so things come and go frequently, but from what I've noticed most options in bottles/cans are staples and don't really leave, and tap rotates pretty regularly. Yes, there are a number of taps here. A good number. What I liked most about the good number of beers here was that the selection seemed to span many types. They even had ciders and meads. The tap room itself seemed to be a bit of a mancave. At least most of its inhabitants/patrons at the time were dudes. Not a horrible thing, just couldn't find two seats next to one another for a spell. Walls seemed plain- not a bad thing if you're just looking to enjoy some types of beer here. It seems like places similar to this are popping up everywhere and they may be doing it better. If this is your place, however, this is your place. I'd return if invited. This location has an excellent selection of beers on tap as well as an amazing selection of beer cans/bottles you can purchase to go. The bartenders are all very knowledgeable and can recommend beers based on your typical beer preferences if you ask. If you don't know what you want, you can always review the beers on tap through the Untapped Beer app. I don't remember seeing the fridge selection on the app, but I love reading up on the beers on the tap list when I am looking for my next beer to drink. *There is both outdoor and indoor seating. **You can bring food into this location. ***There are only 2 unisex bathrooms. ****I recommend parking on the side of the Safeway and walking to the venue. Not just on tap but in bottles too! They have two sides to the business. The bar side and the store side. That's what makes this business unique. You can either drink-in or get take-out. The staff is really well informed about the beers so they will guide your way. The bar side is a friendly place with free pretzels, indoor seating, and an outdoor patio. So much beer! I love it! Their wide selection of beer is amazing! I believe there is something for everyone, even non-beer lovers because there are meads and ciders too. We stumbled upon this place yesterday after a long day of work in need of an ice cold beer. I like to bring my sister with me when we try new places. So, she tagged along. They had a nice selections of beers on tap as well as bottles/cans to go. Lagers, IPA, Stouts, Kolsh,Sours and Porters. I was a bit appalled with the bartender/server. Upon arriving, we asked for a taste of one of the Porters on draft (Evil Twin Imperial Wedding Cake Break). She told us that she couldn't give us a sample because it was one of their expensive ones. At first we thought she was joking but she really meant it. Any who, that comment rub me the wrong way. I would understand if we were freeloaders that was only there to sampling all the beers and not buy anything but it was only our first request. We ended up getting that porter and left shortly. I loved how intimate the setting here was! It's a great place to go catch up with just one or a couple of friends. Due to limited space, it may not be the most ideal for a large group. You can also sample the beers before you purchase a larger amount. They have about 20 on tap. I only drink sour beers and ciders, so I was pleasantly surprised that they had 4 sours on tap! My favorite was the Bike Dog- definitely try it if it's still there. They also have a nice selection of craft beers by the can that you can purchase and take home as well. I personally only learned about it from a friend who I was having dinner with at neighboring Bandera. We walked over after eating a huge meal thinking there was no way we could pour more carbs on top of it. But of course I was wrong. The beer selections go through a rotating flavor cycle of whatever happens to be available at the time, from lights, darks, hoppy, malts, etc. My boyfriend and I decided to stop in and check this place out before going to dinner at a nearby restaurant. Joe K. ordered a New Belgian Chocolate Stout. The stemmed glassful was somewhat smaller than I would have expected. But he seemed to enjoy the flavor and treated it like a dessert beer. I don't drink beer and can't comment on them, so instead ordered the barrel aged Woodchuck Hard Cider. This bold and strong tasting cider was served in a large glass which I eventually acquired a taste for. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish it in time before we had to leave for dinner. The interior lacked pizzazz in my opinion. When you first enter, it looks as if you just entered a mini mart. There is a refrigerated section that carries hand crafted bottled beers that are somewhat pricey. As you proceed further past a desk or maybe it is a checkout stand, you will come upon the small, dimly lit and quiet bar area. A short bar is positioned to one side of the elongated narrow room, while tables and chairs are placed on the opposite side of the wall and down to the other end. A few flat screened TV's were tuned in to some boring sports programs that we couldn't even hear. You can help yourself to complimentary pretzels or order food from the menu at the nearby Tokyo Fro's. This handcrafted only specialty beer bar is a nice place for the serious beer connoisseur. I came to Capital Beer and Tap Room for a beer with fellow Yelper Tim C. and coworker Eric for a drink after a long day. I have been to Tokyo Fro's many times before (which is located right next door) but have never noticed this place until now. I was a little apprehensive how much fun i would have going into it because I HATE beer, but I had a blast! The place is small, but not too small. Half of the space is dedicated to refrigerated and unrefrigerated bottled beer and the other half is a bar with tables and beer on tap. You can either pick a beer from the cooler or order one from the bar to drink. There is also a nice shaded patio with a bunch of chairs and tables to sit at which would be a perfect place to chill on a non 105 degree day. We got to Capital Beer and Tap Room at about 5:15pm on a Thursday and the place was packed! The side with the bar is definitely the more popular side where there was only one or two tables free and a few chairs. We chose a table by the window and then headed up to the bar to get a beer. I really wish they had table service because you have to have someone save your seat (or leave your stuff there!) as you walk up to the bar. The guy working in the bottle room was really nice and explained to me that they usually have a hard cider on tap for non beer drinkers but today they were having a special on this Arnold Palmer Wine Beer thing so I got that and really liked it! It didn't taste like beer which was great for me! They also had a ton of cider options in bottles on the other side as well for non beer drinkers. Tim and Eric both liked their beers and we all had a great time! I liked how they were all served in different glasses depending on the beer. They don't serve food but have some free pretzels or small bags of chips to buy for a snack. If you are more hungry they are located within walking distance to many restaurants like Tokyo Fro's, Bandera, Zinfandel Grille, etc. Oh and for the ladies, you will be outnumbered 10 to 1 here. There are bottled beers available for purchase, a small, quiet patio, but no food here (pretzels only). Cards accepted. There are always new brews on the tap list and inevitably, something I've not yet heard about. For the aficianado, it's a hit. My tastes in beer tend to range from an occasional pilsner, hearty lager or stout, to my favored range of ales and IPA variations.
