Reviewed the total price for the sale, the doc and selling fees added to the deal were fair and reasonable. The paper work was a breeze, although I was a cash buyer, so I cannot speak to the finance options. He did make me aware of the warranty options a few times but understood my desire not to purchase. In the end he helped with my two car logistics so I could get my new car were it needed to be. The thing that stood out the most about Cal West was their cars. My car was exceptional, low mileage, one owner, dealer serviced its entire life. As I looked at their inventory I saw the care they took in selecting their inventory. I did not see any cars on the lot that would be an automatic not buy. Quite the opposite everything I saw had strong consumer ratings no matter how old. Your mileage may vary but as someone in the business I would rate this independent used car business as way better than average. The fact that they have been in business for 45 years certainly says something about their ethics and business practices.

Shortly after I purchased my vehicle, I got a flat tire and was advised that they'd need to break my wheel locks because there was no key in my car as well as my back tires were wearing unevenly. I had to go purchase a new wheel lock set and was told by my original sales person that I could be reimbursed. I never got a straight answer when I asked what could be done about my tires. Since I had the car for less than a month at that time, I kept calling back to the original dealership who is a sister store of Victory Mazda. I was given the run around and blatantly ignored by multiple employees including sales associates, managers and services managers for 2 months. It wasn't until I filed an official coporate complaint that I heard from anyone. Thank God for Eric from the Victory Honda San Bruno service office who took my complaint seriously and referred me to work with Alex at Victory Mazda which was a more convienient location for me. Alex was so kind and apologetic about my experience and did everything he could to make the situation right after examining my car himself. He was able to rush me my reimbursement and get me 4 new tires and an alignment. Because of the superb customer service I received from Alex, I will continue going to this service center for all of my needs going forward and I am so thankful that I was able to get my issues resolved. We were given an OTD price over text and we asked several times if that was the final price as we didn't want to waste time negotiating after we came in and were assured of it. The salesperson said he would sell it to us at the OTD price if we came in the next 3 days, so we made an appointment for the next day. As soon as we got there, the person we were working with over the phone handed us to another sales guy and walked away saying he was busy. The second sales person gave us the test drive and brought us back and started saying that he couldn't match our price! When we showed him the confirmation messages as proof he said he didn't know who sent it and that then that person was not in the office. When we asked to see a manager he said manager was not around and we would need to wait. And that if we wanted the car it was the price he quoted and he would not honor the price we had been originally given. We wasted 1 hour driving there only becoz they promised us the out the door price !it's a rip off! Don't go here . They just want to get you in the door and then fleece you! Very poor service Ended up going to a Mazda dealership in the next city and got the same car for a better deal than they offered. Lost themselves a sale from the bait and switch tactic.

Zero confidence they actually…read moredid any of the work - just because the discrepancy between what I could see and what they wrote on the diagnostics. Because they may have done some of the work I have 2 stars. We paid for a "tire inspection" and the paperwork says our tires were all "green" rating (all good) but when I called back to question it (just looking at the tires) and they said "oh yeah these actually need to be replaced". We had a slow leak they didn't find it and actually gave us BS tire pressure on the write up. I got home and it was 4 lbs below and our leak is not that fast. They could have easily done their job and upsold us 4 new tires. They upsold us on resurfacing front brakes but don't have ANY measurements on the wear and tear saying "any reputable mechanic will always resurface front only" but the quote was so high that it was a blessing that helped me find my new mechanic. Within the week I had to take the car in to the shop for rattling when the AC was on. Turns out something was installed backwards. Within the second week the Apple Car Play started failing. I took it to the dealership, one of the gentleman came out and did a quick troubleshooting (deleted devices and added back). Fast forward to March 2026, Car play has FAILED. I take the vehicle for an oil change and find that the engine is failing, including an engine oil leak, coolant system failing. While trying to establish the validity of the warranty and find a good shop for the repairs the car has shut off in traffic twice, continues to run hot and the breaks are going out already. I have spent $600 on a rental car. I have reached out to San Leandro several times and spoke with Boris. The last of which he offered a discount on the rental which still totaled $600 for how long I will need the rental. I asked explicitly to speak with a Regional Manager about surrendering the vehicle and submitted an online complaint more than three weeks ago and no one is responding. I have also filed a complaint with BBB. And by the list of other complaints I'm not the first person sold a vehicle that they claim has been through a rigorous "certification" and inspection and the ENGINE is failing months later.

All communication was easily done through email and text, although phone and in-person contact was also available. Process starts with completing a convenient online request. From there, Kim contacted me to fully understand my wishlist, range of optional requirements, and any non-negotiables. After reaching out to their dealer network, within a day she provided a list of potential matches with estimated OTD prices, which included some in SoCal available for transfer to the Bay Area and cars still in production with estimated availability dates. I had a lot of questions and some requests and Kim was very responsive and instrumental in relaying them to the dealer and advocating for me. Even my request to remove all dealer installed options was negotiated by Kim and granted by the dealer with no hassle on my end. I paid the BuySide Auto fee to reserve the car for purchase and when the car was available I opted to pickup at their office in SF. Home delivery to SF is also currently no charge, while delivery outside of the city is available with a modest fee. Upon first contact, I asked if weekend pickup or delivery was available, since their normal hours are on weekdays. Kim made note of it and remembered my preference even after the sale was completed. Chris was able to make himself available for Saturday pickup! We took a walk around the car took a look inside. We spent no more than 10 minutes reviewing and signing paperwork, received my keys, and I was off with my brand new car! Both Kim and Chris were great to work with and I have no hesitation in working with them again for future car purchases.

I gave Alex the keys to my beloved minivan (which is now for sale, by the way), a lump sum on my credit card, and drove away in a sporty sedan. It wasn't just that we found the right car at the right price today. We found the right salesperson. Alex is supporting the local community as well as his own family. He negotiates directly and clearly. He speaks respectfully to middle-aged women and teenage kids. No gimmicks. No pressure. No confusing equations.
