The driver found me, got the car on the flatbed, and got me safely to a tire company so I could get back on my way. I don't think I was ever so happy to see someone in my life. AS far as service goes for towtruck companies - this company deserves 10 stars! Let's begin with what happened. We were enjoying the beautiful white snow in the big bear mountains for new years 2015. It was a great time in our 4x4 - until it was time to leave. As we proceeded off the mountain- the front differential busted - housing and all. It was 4pm by this time. On the side of a winding highway with no civilization around, in the imminent dark, with 18 degree weather and even worse, no cell phone signal! We managed to get spurts of 20 second cellphone signals and called our roadside assistance around 15 times but by 9pm, the roads were closed so we couldn't get a tow or assistance until the morning. CHP found us and offered us water and snacks. It was 9 degrees outside. We had plenty of fuel to keep the heater going for the night. At around 1am, CHP gave our location and a ride for us. The wife and kids (and dog) went home. Bravely - or stupidly - I stayed with my truck. It was 3 degrees outside by now, but the heater was still going. The next morning, roadside assistance had located a tow for us... but no one showed up for hours. After (3) different tow companies backed out, because of distance, snow conditions, 2 hours to get atop the mountain, or just plain fear (lol), we had just about lost hope. The frustration and tiredness and cold was taking it's toll. By this time it was almost 4pm of the following day and the temperature began to drop again. IN between cell phone signals fading in and out, we got a voicemail saying - "we have found a tow company for you that is coming from Yucaipa, it is Road Runner Tow and they are on their way and will be there in 2 hours". Suspiciously elated, we felt this would be it. We were finally going to get off the mountain! By this time, my wife had made the 2.5 hours drive herself to bring me food and water from home. Now, we had already been told (3) times before, from the day before, and the throughout the next day that a tow was on its way. But those tow companies would cancel before we even knew about it. Then something great happened. An angel's voice got through our cell phone - it was Maggie, the Road Runner Tow Dispatcher. The first thing she said was "we are going to do our best to try and get to you guys". It was our first glimpse of a regained hope. I was tired! She called again and began giving us play by play (in between dropped calls and garbling) on our drivers location. She said "he's on his way" and he will be there soon. A 1/2 hour later, she called and said he's about 3 miles out and he's in a red tow truck. Those were the longest 3 miles!! I can't tell you how happy we were to see that big red flatbed tow truck come up that mountain road. I felt a great sense of relief when the driver made eye contact and motioned that he was going to go up a little further to make a u-turn. The driver, who in the excitement of finally getting home, I forgot his name, first thing he said - "I heard you guys were stranded out here for over a day and I said, I'm gonna go get these guys!" It felt like a hero had come to get us. They guy couldn't believe no one would come get us. All in all, he was quick, very courteous, and friendly, and efficient. We raced down that mountain beating the dark and I never looked back. In retrospect, that experience is one I would not like to relive. Enduring that cold, starving, with my restroom being the side of a mountain -and let me tell you, using the potty in 3 degree weather with only a flashlight to light up the way is a monumental task in itself! Sorry, tmi... I know. I"m a little traumatized here. But it all worked out because of a dynamic and friendly team! I would like to thank the people at ROAD RUNNER TOW for the extraordinary effort they put to come rescue us off that mountain. I would recommend this company to anyone! And if you're ever stuck up a mountain in big bear or running springs, rest assured a Road Runner driver will take the risk, when all other tow company drivers shiver in fear (and cold), to come get you! Road Runner Towing & Storage - Driving down the mountain from 7000 ft - (2) hour drive to go get us! - Towing Near Me - Yucaipa, California

Extremely rude and unprofessional. Was called to the scene accident by Sheriff's. Told me their contracted rate with the sheriff's dept is $300, couldn't tell me what the other fee's would be but assured me that insurance would pay for it. I called another tow company that was going to charge $95. The road runner driver would not give back the car keys and was going to tow my car without consent until the sheriff asked for the keys to be given back to us. Driver became very rude at that point and insulted us. read more

Ran out of gas on my bike, put a couple gallons in but still couldn't get it started. First I called Cals towing and they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to tow my bike half a mile back to my house.. called Roadrunner next and everything from the initial response to the price was so much better.. Casey showed up and really went above and beyond attempting to get my bike started.. we were unsuccessful but his effort has made a lasting impression on me.. I highly recommend Roadrunner towing over Cals towing... Nicer people , and much lower rates... hands down 5/5 stars. read more

A++++++ The worst possible scenario, rental car broke down in the middle of the desert. I had my 4 year old child and 2 seniors in my car. The rental car company was being very difficult, however, They found Mike at Road Runner Towing to come rescue us with a new rental! At first I canceled because another towing company wanted me to pay $700 for the tow before they would come out. Nope, not Mike. He got the authorizations from the rental company and came right out! Super nice driver....that's what I was told. I never met him. Couldn't find the broad side of a barn. Called for roadside assistance when my car died. My daughter had to call, because I was in a notorious dead zone. She gave specific instructions to the company about the location....on a main highway. Two lane, mountain road, only cross street for miles, only car broken down. No truck. They called my daughter. She clarified the location. She spoke WITH THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER who said he knew where the location was....no tow truck ever showed up. He told roadside assistance that he couldn't find it. Keep in mind....this was after I had already been waiting over an hour. In the very cold weather, with a completely non functioning car. We ended up calling another company, Liberty, who took even longer *see their review* and found someone to get me home. So....lessons learned....if you don't have AAA, tow companies kiss you off, don't believe a word of the estimated time for a tow, and nice doesn't mean they can do their job. read more

My car was reported abandoned by a spiteful neighbor while I was out of town for vacation. Towed by these folks. I understand everybody's got to make money, so I don't spite them for the tow and storage fees, exorbitant as they may be. What I do have a problem with is having my car rummaged through and personal property stolen out of it while it was in their custody. They were so blatant about it that when I came to pick it up I walked up to the car in the lot and some of my stuff was just lying on the ground next to the car. The very nervous lady tried to blame it all on the police when the car was towed. All the documentation was easily found in the glove box, so why would the cops come to their secure lot and dig through my car and steal property and paperwork out of the trunk? 2 days after it was towed I started getting fraudulent attempts on my credit from someone trying to open credit cards with local businesses using old address info found on paperwork in my car. Was that the cops too? These people are shady. Don't do business with them. read more

I had to get my car towed. The driver, Mike, showed up at the promised time, and had a lot of insight on cars and their various malfunctions as he gets to see a lot of broken cars. His friendly advice will probably save me a few bucks getting the car repaired. It should also be noted that the company offered the best price I could find in Yucaipa. Scott. On 6/8/15 I had ROAD RUNNER TOWING to come and get my car it was parked on a sloped street. when the tow truck was about 15 feet in front of my car with the operator on the controls I noticed the operator was walking along side the tow truck rolling at the same time with the ramp already down I said hey your truck is moving. So by the time the operator got to the cab of the truck the tow truck slammed into the front end of my car with the back edge of the ramp just above the bumper, Only seeing where the plastic emblem had been pushed in and popped back out only after the truck moved. Not knowing the extent of the damage until later the next day that the air conditioner "condenser" and radiator was pushed towards the fan. The fan shroud itself had pinned the fan preventing it from spinning to cool the radiator allowing the car to over heat to 270 deg. at the same time white smoke came out from under the hood blowing up my air conditioner. We found this out at a stop light. So when I alerted the MANAGER AT ROAD RUNNER TOWING, SHE CONTESTED THAT HER 15,000 lb TRUCK DID'NT DO THAT TO MY CAR. EVERYONE BEWARE OF ROAD RUNNER TOWING IN YUCAIPA, CA. I WILL NEVER EVER USE THEM AGAIN NOR WILL I REFER THEM. THE ONLY REASON I GAVE THEM ONE STAR IS THE SITE FORCED ME TO. read more

Don't know who was on assignment last night (12/27/18) but Road Runner Towing was suggested by the Wauwanesa Insurance Co. My Son's Mother called and prepaid $187 to have them go up highway 38 to Big Bear to tow my Son's car. After more than 2 hours they were a no show. The temperature was below freezing and my Son was almost out of gas trying to stay warm. My other Son called the company some 30 plus times where a voicemail box said it was full. The driver finally called my other Son back and gave some lame excuses as to why he never showed up. His call back came when my Son and I were driving up the mountain with additional gas and tire chains to see if we could help. We were eventually able to get him gassed up and back down the mountain. I will be back to let you know if they refund the $187 or if they give some lame excuse why they see fit to keep some or all of the money. They deserve less than 1 star for this review but one is the least I could choose on this system. read more
