As someone who loves a good buffalo chicken sandwich, I've got got to say that it's sometimes difficult to find a pure buffalo chicken sandwich - not a Nashville hot, hot honey, anything like that. I went to Roaming Rooster (U Street location) with a $20.00 gift certificate that my daughter bought me for Xmas. She wasn't told it could only be used at that location so I tried to use it on Bladensburg Road over a week ago. They said I had to use it on U Street. I went today (April 3rd) and was not allowed to use it because I was told it expired 3 days earlier. The date on the printed receipt was blurred and only showed Ma which could have been May. I explained the circumstances to the cashier. He said he would need to check with a manager so he took my contact info. I left w/o buying anything. I got a call from the cashier @ an hour later and he said his manager said the certificate which had been paid for in cash would not be honored. I am a frequent customer to the Bladensburg Road Rooster so I'm very disappointed that this business demonstrated so little regard for a customer who has given them kudos on Nextdoor and FB. I wouldn't think that a business such as this one would sacrifice the Goodwill of a customer for $20.00 which they did in fact receive from my daughter. My wife and I first tried at Nats Park and loved it and ordered from this location last month on UberEats where we got a Medium Honey Butter chicken sandwich, a Hot Veggie Roo mushroom sandwich, and an Extra Hot OG Nashville chicken sandwich. We like our food spicy, but not overbearing that it drowns out the flavors, and the only description the cashier could give us of the level 3 "spicy" is that its spicy. We ended up going with the level 2 "medium" spicy and it was just okay in spice. Next time I would go for spicy for more kick. The fry was delicious. The chicken was a not as moist as I would like, but still very good. We got the OG Original and the BLT. Both were very good. We got medium for both, but it seemed like there was less spice on the BLT than the OG Original, so spice amount was not consistent across multiple sandwiches.
