A friend of mine recommended me this place over numerous of places for a intimate date for someone I haven't seen in over 13yrs. We both picked this place for a date, when making reservations it asked what it a special occasion and I picked "date" and then it asked any special requests I said "nice view outside seating". We were running about 5 min late the email said call if you were running late to inform & I did just that. The lady who answered the phone said we only hold tables 15 min after reservation time then she hung up on me. Made it and we were sat outside with no view out first time there, that was the main reason why I requested to sit outside during the sunset. I asked if we could switch tables there were 3 open tables, I was told they were reserved. Our date lasted about 2 hrs, no one ever sat down there. Our waiter was AMAZING! Food was AMAZING. The experience I wanted wasn't met at all I could have went to Cheesecake Factory or The Oasis. I talked to the manager and he seemed so nonchalant about it and offered me drink at the bar I said no thank you I don't drink. Offered free dessert and I said no, as I wasn't asking for anything free my experience wasn't met, why offer this making reservations if you aren't going to offer this for your customers. Nice set up with dining, bar, and outdoor seating. We ate in the bar area which had nice energetic feel to it. The pork tenderloin and the rotisserie chicken were were great with a nice presentation. If you're a foodie when it comes to seafood, you may want to stick to the meat dishes. Great margaritas and good wine list with reasonable prices. We were looking forward to dining here on the patio. We were NOT welcome on the outdoor patio - because we have a dog in a stroller/carrier. The patio was empty. I guess you don't need our business. What is the logic for refusing service to us? My dog is well behaved and doesn't make any noise. She is not going to make a mess, especially when we placed my her in a stroller. Came to Austin for a family affair a few days early and was looking for a place to have dinner. What a fine! We really lucked out. Benjamin the manager had us seated immediately in a comfortable booth and I looked around at this very attractive restaurant. We were then greeted by Bailey our waitress. She could not have been nicer.Polite and good eye contact. A few words about our meal. Fresh, tasty and hot. Very good quality food. The entire meal was excellent. One thing I really liked was Bailey. When she was standing around she was perusing her customers incase they need her. Most of the time when you need your server you can never make eye contact with them. She was watching her clients! Very unusual. What an exceptional lady! My wife and I went while my daughter was on a date with her boyfriend at the Paramount. Dinner was amazing and service was great. The food did take a while because there was a large party ahead of us. Fortunately, we were not in a hurry. My daughter and her boyfriend were watching a movie, and we had two and a half hours to kill. We had been there once before for an anniversary, and it was perfect. The bar area is nice and cozy. The kids came in from next door with popcorn and something to drink, and the bartender let them finish it by the fireplace while my wife and I finished our cocktails. Updated Review - 2/19/22 upon many visits since my initial visit in Sept. 2021 and bringing many others along for dining; I brought my family this time. Things started out ok but I did notice from the beginning that our waitress wasn't the most kind nor friendly but we continued as if she was kind and friendly. She kept kind of rushing us to order and I am unsure why bc they had just opened at 2pm and it was roughly 230pm and no where near crowded as I have seen them get during the day or night. But this time she came back and we had some questions and she cut us off mid sentence, walked off and went to the table across from us. Myself and a family member looked at one another like wth is going on and we both said at the same time "excuse me, we weren't finished". She came over with a complete change of tone, facial expression and attitude as if we did something to her, which wasn't the case. She was super short and it irritated me bc that isn't what I brought my family there for especially after I just talked this place up about their food and great service. I said "wtf was that...idk wth is her problem or who pissed her off but she better get mad at them". I was unaware that she was still there but I still finished my sentence upon realizing that she was; we are all grown and if she can dish it she can take it. My cousin asked for rocks on with her drink the waitress brought the rocks back and told her to mix her own drink. We were blown away at that point. My cousin asked about how a dish was prepared the waitress was combative about how she wanted it prepared so my cousin went inside and asked a manager was it an issue to prepare the food as requested and if it was it was fine as she didn't want to change their menu. She said that the manager stated it was no issue and that the waitress should've said the same thing. Well the waitress saw her speaking with one manager, went and lied to Ben another manager. Ben came to our table pretending to refill water after rudely reaching over me without saying excuse me and then slamming my glass down hard in front of me then proceeding to state that his waitress told him that we called her a b!tch. Not a question but a statement; he himself was rude just as his waitress is; over speaking us as we were "trying" to explain what ACTUALLY happened while also letting him know how rude he was while "trying" to do a customer service recovery. And his excuse for her behavior was that she had a lot of tables. Look that is NEVER an excuse bc that isn't my concern while I can be very understanding, I have seen this place super packed, I still had outstanding service. Never make excuses for an employee being rude, but its understandable bc Ben is also rude so he isn't leading by the greatest example. This is NOT the service that I am used to nor that I pay for nor tip well for; so much so that we left immediately after the ignorant convo with Ben's unprofessional self. And to be honest it felt very racially motivated IMO bc no one else was treated this way that I could see....welcome to Austin! Do better Roaring Fork as you were my go to spot bc I felt welcomed but no longer do thanks to Ben and the green haired waitress...no one called you a B!tch girl but you surely went and lied bc you knew you were wrong how you were acting towards US. If you really heard US say that you would've went and told way before someone said anything about the food but you felt you would be in trouble so you lied instead. read more

This place was amazing! It has an elegant but relaxed feel to eat! If you get good weather, sit in their outside seating because there is a nice view! The service didn't start off the best because I had to get someone to come over but they made up for it after. He did a great job at explaining the menu and giving us recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious! You must try the queso...it is so creamy and smooth with such a great flavor to it! I rsvped and came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. OMG the patio was beautiful! The patio oversees the small pond/lake with trails, so you'll see some athletic people running from time to time. If you don't like to sit outside, there's a hug bar section as well formal dining. So let me start off by saying, my husband and I are from California and were scoping out the area to live and I am vegetarian. I wanted to see what the attitude was like towards vegetarians here. So, I ordered the burger and asked for it without the meat since it came with a lot of veggies. The waitress didn't even flinch, and even offered to replace the meat with avocado! I was shocked because I had never had someone suggest a substitute for the meat before. And boy, was it DELICIOUS. Not only that, it was a MASSIVE burger. Usually when I get a veggie burger, it's a dinky little thing cuz they skimp on the veggies. Nope, not this place! The second time we went, I got the burger with fries again and this time the waiter (different waiter) made yet ANOTHER suggestion and said they could put a grilled portabella mushroom in the meat's place. I could taste the flames on it, it was so smoky and delicious! I hope Roaring Fork understands how much something like this means to me, for I am not a vegetarian by choice, but it's a medical issue I have (called PKU). So it's tough having to ask for substitutions at restaurants and people thinking you are a vegan because of animal rights or something when that's really not the case (more than one person has given me death glares before). My partner and I went here to celebrate his recent job offering, and we're immediately disappointed that we had to wait despite having a reservation. That said, once we were seated, everything else was great. We ordered the guacamole for an appetizer, which tasted really fresh. The margarita also tasted very fresh. I ordered the fish tacos, and despite the fish being a little dry, the rest of the taco made up for it (pickled cabbage). My partner ordered the burger and said it was the best burger he'd had in a while. While on the pricier side, it was well worth it and plenty of food. More than the food, we enjoyed the ambiance. My wife and I have eaten here multiple times. We've always loved the view, the service and the food... until last night. Everything from the seating to the meal was way below our usual expectations. I did my usual reservation from Open Table even though the it was on a Wednesday night and it wasn't busy. The hostess greeted us with a smile and all seemed well up until the point where they seated us. We were in the most empty remote part of the restaurant where the AC was blasting cold air at the table they put us in. Sure it wasn't busy but it wasn't dead either. I didn't think much of it at the time so we asked to be seated outside instead. Hostess once again puts us in the most remote place of the restaurant AWAY from everyone else and in the most far off darkest area of the patio with the least amount of lighting where we were practically at the edge towards the outside. There were several other tables that were closer to where every one else was sitting. I asked if we could sit in a more desirable spot on the patio and they told us those were reserved. Complete BS, because no one sat in those tables throughout our whole meal. We felt really discriminated at that point but that's ok, the food at Roaring Fork is usually good so we wouldn't let that ruin our evening... until it did. Had to remind the waitress to bring out the cornbread, chicken tortilla soup was COLD, fries were overly salty to where you can feel the large salt rocks when picking up the fries, and the burger was overcooked when we asked for medium AND it was cold. We were obviously not happy as we ate our meal in the dark. After we ate, we quickly paid, and left vowing this was the last time we will ever visit this Roaring Fork. You guys have lost a customer. I hope you learn to treat all your guests better than this. read more

Came here for happy hour after class with a few friends. We got seated right away. What a nice ambiance this place has! The HH menu is pretty good to. I had $5 cosmos. They have a Kobe burger for around $10 and comes with fries, my friends enjoyed that. We shared the pork queso and it was so good! Our server asked if we wanted more tortillas which I thought was nice. The menu offers quite a few options for food during HH and the drink menu is good to. We went here for a birthday and it was not how I had remembered it being. Maybe I was at a different time in my life when I thought this place was good and eating a little differently too. The steak was actually pretty good, but the mushrooms had way too much seasoning and sauce to where my son couldn't even eat them-- we hardly could either. We had some chips and guac that was actually good but a tiny portion! It was pretty disappointing overall. Better places to go in Austin for sure. Getting to this restaurant was pretty easy but also kind be secluded. You can't see it from the street so I loved that. When we walked in, the hostess was very nice and directed us to our table as we had already made reservations. This place was huge and spacious! I didn't feel on top of the next table and I loved that there were TVs to watch the game while we ate. The food was Great but I can't speak on drinks because we had a lot of bar hopping to do this night lol. The one thing I was afraid of was walking to the bathroom. We were visiting from Dallas for a soccer tournament and decided to sneak in a date night for our 17th anniversary. I made our reservation on Open table, and as soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted by the hostess with a smile and a "happy anniversary". We sat on the patio which had a nice ambience with the water and the sunset. Michelle was our waitress and she was the bomb!! I took her recommendations on everything from my first cocktail to sides to which wine to pair with my steak. She took excellent care of us- thank you Michelle! The food... THE FOOD!!! We had the Brunch today, buffet style on Sundays, including roasted turkey and prime rib. Rib was as expected. I had a wonderful salad with delicious tomatoes, along with asparagus. Table of 4 adults including tip comes to about $40.00 each with non-alcoholic drinks. The food was delicious and there were many, many, offerings. Both lunch and breakfast fare. Service was very good. The issue I have is there were a lot of fruit flies, one for every plate. I spotted them in the buffet line and knew there would be a problem throughout the restaurant. Everyone waving hands in the restaurant to flush them away. May I suggest cleaning the floor drains with steam cleaner, and run fans overnight to dry any wet areas. Enzyme based cleaners work best over time. read more

We ordered steaks, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. Skinny margarita was made with fresh lime juice, so good. Service was great, staff was friendly and positive. The only thing I would say could be better was that it was cold and we were seated outside. They should have space heaters available. Other places we go to always have them. My 4 friends and I had our Christmas get together there a few nights ago. We sat in the bar at one of the high top tables, our server was Karli. I just want to say she was so knowledgeable about the wines and drinks from the bar and also suggested the bacon wrapped tenderloin, which was fabulous! Karli took very good care of us, she right there to get us a drink when we needed one or pick up an empty plate. I feel like I haven't seen service like this in a long time anywhere. We will definitely ask for her when we go back. I also want to comment on how beautiful the place looked and what a nice setting by the quarry. We always enjoy happy hour here. They recently changed their HH food menu. Queso/green chili are now combined into one appetizer (they're still physically separate items though, no worries!). Burger went up by $3, since you now have to add fries (it's huge - you've been warned. They're also happy to cook it to order, bloody rare for me!). The mussels were phenomenal - great flavor and lovely addition of the toasted Easy Tiger sourdough on the side. I had the "Big ass" burger and while yes it was big there was nothing special about it. First I ordered it "medium" and ate about half hoping that it would get better however, it didn't. They had severely over cooked it. Rather than getting it medium it was WELL DONE. My wife had the steak salad which was ok.. the meat had no flavor and was ice cold. My daughter had the BLT salad, simple right? Yeah I though so too well half a head of lettuce a bit of bacon and a single cherry tomato cut in four pieces. Started off with not having our table ready at time of reservations then tried to seat us in a bar top with kids - when we had reserved a table for outdoor dining. Tomahawk Pork was served RAW inside and had to re-cook, by the time it came back out the everyone else had finished their meal and were discussed from already being served raw pork. They didnt even offer a. apology or to take it off our tab as a courtesy. Steaks were ill prepared and had a very horrible burnt after taste - it was NOT the flavor from the woodfire. Paid $125 for dry aged a porterhouse - i've had better steaks and Roadhouse. The best part of the meal was our waiter who was trying to make the best of whatever he was was given.
