I recently had lunch with my brother at Perry's Steakhouse in the Domain to take advantage of their Friday Pork Chop Lunch Special...a lunch-cut portion of Perry's Famous Pork Chop served with whipped potatoes, homemade applesauce, and fresh bread. Here's the best part...the pork chop is so enormous (think dinosaur) that we split one entrée and still had leftovers to take home! The pork chop was massive, incredibly flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The meat was juicy, and well-seasoned with a delicious balance of savory spices and just a hint of sweetness. While the portion size was impressive, the quality is what truly makes this dish stand out. When we arrived, a line stretched out the door. Fortunately, the hostess offered us immediate seating at the bar, and we happily accepted. It turned out to be a great choice. The restaurant was lively, filled with friends catching up, colleagues enjoying lunch, families gathering, and couples sharing a meal. Our bartender and server, Andres, was friendly, attentive, and checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Decided to come in today for Friday special pork-chop, I usually go downtown for this since its closer to me and staff is amazing. We sat at the bar and service was good at first. The place is great and not loud. Over all good vibes from some staff and people. We told the women bartender that we wanted the special pork-chop and she asked if we wanted regular or loaded mash potatoes. We said loaded. The porkchop came out really quick and which was great and delicious. We then got happy hour drinks. I got the cucumber blueberry martini and was very well made only thing was the girl bartender spilled part of my drink and said she would bring me more to make up for what she spilled and she never bothered to. My friends got the raspberry refresher and thyme lemon drop which were delicious. We then decided on another HH cocktail. I got a glass of Sauvignon which was ok but fine for HH. My friends got the salted caramel espresso martini and yuck. Tasted like a bag of sugar. They then made them a regular espresso martini and what a difference. Way better. At the end we closed out and saw our bill had an extra $5. We asked for what and they said the mashed potatoes and we said oh i thought that was included in the porkchop dish and she said not the loaded ones. Im fine with paying the $5 but the principal of her not telling us and then her making a face at us for saying we didnt know that was very unprofessional of her. We dined at Perry's Steakhouse & Grille in The Domain June 19 for a 12:45 p.m. reservation. We were running a few minutes late and called ahead, and I really appreciated that they still honored our reservation and seated us promptly. The only hiccup at the beginning was valet parking. There appeared to be only one valet attendant working, which created a backup at the stand and a longer wait than expected. Once seated, everything improved. We both ordered the famous pork chop lunch special, which was excellent, and our server provided attentive and friendly service throughout the meal. At the end of lunch, I specifically asked for one of the flambéed desserts and my friend and I chose the lemon bar. About 10 minutes later, it arrived topped with meringue, but it was not flambéed and no one came to prepare or finish it tableside. By that point we were ready to leave, the USA World Cup match was on and the bar area had become quite loud and crowded, so we didn't mention it. I'm curious if the flambéed desserts are prepared differently during lunch service, because the dessert we received looked very different from the presentation shown online. The tableside experience was part of why we ordered it, and it would have been nice to know beforehand if that wasn't available at lunch. I ordered the Perry's famous pork chop and I might have just been full from the delicious French onion soup but I couldn't finish even 25% of my main entree. It was my birthday so they offered a free dessert and wow wow wow that seasonal cheesecake was amazing amazing. Can't recommend the cheesecake more! The drinks were delicious but I've definitely had same level of quality old fashioneds for less than $19. My wife got a New York strip and in our opinion the seasoning on the outside was too salt heavy but the steak was cooked to perfection. Met a couple of friends for lunch here last Friday for their pork chop Friday offer! I've been a few times before to the downtown location and have to say this lunch experience was my favorite of all of my visits to Perry's in the past. The server was extremely helpful and patient as one of our friends was running late so we were waiting until she got there to order. We enjoyed the pork chop special, the pinot wine pairing, and we shared the bread pudding with a huge marshmallow on top. Each of us had different sides: grilled veggies, asparagus, loaded whipped potatoes. Yum! I order it every-time I go and I cannot get enough. It is so flavorful and delicious. It's also filling as well as they serve hearty portions. They make great cocktails as well. The staff are friendly and the service is phenomenal. The atmosphere is great, especially if you sit outside on the patio on a nice day. The last time I went, I decided to splurge and order a dessert. I tried the Rocky Road Bread Pudding. I was shocked how huge the dessert was. I couldn't finish it all after eating the Pork Chop, but I took the leftovers home. It blew me away and I normally don't order Bread Pudding. This is a ritzy spot to eat in The Domain. The food is pretty damn good, and I hear the drinks are spot on, but we didn't have any. Parking is somewhat of a stressful situation out there so park in the garage and spend your day roaming the grounds. Also, the dress is business casual or better. I noticed that a few young people don't really care and they show up in whatever. This is a nice place to eat. You can go down to the bars if you want that kind of atmosphere. I had a great first visit here. This is my first time visiting the domain location. I have visited the downtown location everything from just the ease of getting a table during the week to being seated and taken care of immediately. Those stood out to me. everyone checking in on you, the knowledge of the menu - it was pretty busy, but it wasn't so loud that you couldn't enjoy your meal. I had the butchers chopped salad for a starter, and I had the perfect amount of dressing without being overpowering, and I really enjoyed having the strip of bacon on top. It was crisp that you could just put the pork on it and it will crumble. For dinner. I had a cowboy ribeye with Sriracha brussels sprouts corn Brulé and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection. I enjoy the brussels sprouts but I don't know if I would do them again unless they were extra saucy because the sauce and the crisp was great on that the corn Brûlé so good especially if you love cream corn it was delicious for dessert. I finally made it to Perry's Steakhouse & Grille, and unfortunately, it did not live up to the reputation. A friend and I went after work, and from the start, things just didn't land the way they should--especially for a place known for steak. My friend ordered the Prime Ribeye (14 oz.) and had to send it back three times. She asked for medium well, leaning toward well, and even requested it be cut thinner upfront to avoid issues. Still, it came out wrong each time. By the third attempt, it was overcooked. They did comp it, which was appropriate, but by then, the experience was already frustrating. She also ordered the Perry's Homemade Texas Sausage as an appetizer. The first round came out dry and had to be sent back. The replacement was much better, but again, that's a miss that shouldn't happen. I ordered the Symphony Kabob, which is presented tableside and looks impressive--filet mignon, lobster, shrimp, sauces, asparagus... all the things. Visually, it delivers. Flavor-wise, it was just okay. The seafood and asparagus were good, but the steak itself was inconsistent and not as tender as expected for the price point. Now I will give credit where it's due: * The au gratin potatoes were absolutely amazing. * The thick-cut chargrilled vegetables were well done. * The Smoky Rita and Cucumber Blueberry Martini were both really good. * Our server, Shen, was pleasant and attentive throughout. * And the ambiance? Oh, it was giving--dim lighting, upscale energy, the kind of place that feels like it's about to deliver a top-tier experience. But here's the bottom line--this is a steakhouse. The steak should be right the first time. Not the second. Definitely not the third. I understand that no place is perfect, but when the main attraction keeps missing, it overshadows everything else. This place may have a strong reputation, but based on this experience, I wouldn't return. That said, don't take my word for it--try it for yourself. The pork chop was covered in a light layer of sweet and savory glaze, reminiscent of the kind used on honey-glazed ham. It had the perfect amount of marbling, making it easy to cut and not tough to chew at all. The dish came with two sides: whipped potatoes and homemade applesauce. The whipped potatoes were light, creamy, and buttery smooth. The applesauce was refreshing, sweet, and had a hint of cinnamon. Make sure to try the pork chop with the applesauce. This combination reminded me of Thanksgiving dinner! The savoriness of the pork and glaze paired well with the sweetness of the applesauce, creating a nice balance of flavors. As a separate side, I ordered the three-cheese mac & cheese. It was creamy and not overly salty. Just make sure you choose the right location. We chose Friday to take advantage of the $19 Pork Chops lunch special. When we arrived our table was decorated with red rose pedals. The Perry's touch. Our server was "Michael", and he performed an excellent job. Very knowledgeable and very helpful. Everyone ordered the pork chops with varied responses. We all enjoyed the glaze, and the tenderness of the lunch serving. Some of our meals came out warm, we sent back two. My wife's cut was very fatty. But she refused to send it back. The apps were fried asparagus with crab meat, and fried calamari. The first course was choice of a salad - I had the wedge salad which was pretty refreshing. My main course was the surf and turf; both were very tasty, but again nothing outstandingly interesting about either. My dessert was the "trio," which is a small sampler of three desserts, all of which were good but didn't blow me away. Overall, the only thing I feel is pretty exceptional is the ambiance/staff, the food itself is a solid 4/5 stars for me so that's how I'd rank overall. I've been visiting Perry's Steakhouse for a couple of years, typically to celebrate special occasions. I'll start by saying the service is phenomenal. While I personally don't drink, the waiters provide excellent recommendations for those in my family and among my friends who do, and they are always pleased with their selections. Moreover, the staff consistently checks in with you and offers drink refills, which is much appreciated. Considering I've been coming since they reopened in 2020, it's impressive that they are still consistent in their service. The restaurant also has good ambient lighting, is very clean, and is well-organized. Moving on to the food, it was good, but not particularly mind-blowing. For appetizers, we ordered the Cherry Pepper Calamari, and the waiter also brought a loaf of bread with whipped butter. The calamari itself were very meaty, and the peppers and cheese added a nice tangy and funky contrast to the richness of the oil used for frying. However, I could tell the oil was almost due for a change, as there was a slight bitter aftertaste. I'd also recommend that the chefs drain any excess oil from the calamari, as it was a little too greasy. As for the bread, it was decent--soft and doughy in texture--and the butter was creamy with a nice milky flavor. The filet mignon was just ok. I opted for the 8 oz size and requested it medium-rare. I'm not sure if it was the restaurant's lighting, but it appeared more on the rare side, and the steak was a little oversalted for my liking. That said, the steak wasn't bad at all. They used fresh garlic, which added a nice sharp flavor, the crust was well-seared, and the filet was tender. For sharing, my family and I ordered the Three-Cheese Mac and Cheese (with lobster) and the Thick-Cut Chargrilled Vegetables. The Mac and Cheese had white cheddar, smoked gouda, Monterey jack cheese, and was tossed in an alfredo sauce, you really can't go wrong with that combination of flavors. The lobster was also very fresh, with little to no fishy flavor. My only suggestion would be to add a bit more smoked gouda or aged cheddar to bring out a nuttier, funkier flavor in the dish. As for the Thick-Cut Chargrilled Vegetables, they were pretty good, with a light, crispy texture and were well-seasoned. Finally, we got the Dessert Trio that included Seasonal Cheesecake, a Lemon Meringue Square, and a Chocolate Crunch Bar. Since it was October, the Seasonal Cheesecake was pumpkin-flavored. It was rich, creamy, and had great pumpkin spice notes. The Lemon Meringue Square's pastry was a bit dry, but the cream and meringue helped balance it out, providing a rich, tart flavor. The Chocolate Crunch Bar was personally my favorite of the three. It reminded me of a fancy Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, but with a crunchy texture. All in all, Perry's Steakhouse is decent. I personally think it's overpriced, but only because, if I or my family are going to spend a significant amount on a meal, the technique should be spot on.
