We get lunch at this place probably about once per week. Great sandwiches and panini. Prices are decent. This place blows places like Panera Bread out of the water. I like their pizza from time to time and the pasta too. Customer service is friendly, and it is clean (although I have only eaten in here a handful of times. My only criticism is that the take out panini can get a little soggy when they wrap it in the foil and paper wrapping they do -- especially the veggie panini. Food is okay, but the way orders are handled is ridiculous. They never know who ordered what, and go around yelling orders at the entire restaurant until someone claims it. In one sitting I saw 2 orders get missed, and 2 other orders get switched by accident, all because they can't figure out how to know who ordered what. This place is awesome. I went apple picking and although the donuts and apple cider hit the spot for breakfast, two hours later those calories weren't gonna cut it. So we went to "main street" the cutest little strip of places and found this one. The sign saying the special with of course roasted red peppers caught our attention. Two friends got these amazing grilled paninis and I got a corned beef sandwich with homemade coleslaw ON it. So yummy. And then we had the homemade brownie, it was great! The best part was the owner/person taking orders/person making the slaw herself ever night was awesome. She made lots of suggestions and THEN came over to make sure we liked the food as much as she did haha. The best was when she came over while we were finishing off the brownies in record time and she goes, I love these brownies on top of ice cream. I have it only on saturdays. I order lunch from here about once a month. I always get the same thing, a BLT Club white bread toasted. I order online and always wait a few minutes past the given pickup time to head over there to get my food. Upon arrival today, I told them I am here to pickup an order for Lindsey, a BLT. The cashier responds with "okay a buffalo wrap?" I said no, a BLT I placed the order online and it says it's ready for pickup. He replied that he did not have a pickup order with that name. I repeated that it was an online order and he responded with "Oh an online order you should've said that" he then asks the kitchen for the order and they responded saying I don't have it. He checked the counter and found my order and handed it to me. I got home, opened my BLT and the bread wasn't toasted, and they put turkey bacon on it. I am not sure if they ran out of regular bacon, or it was an accident but there is a huge difference between bacon & turkey bacon. After the not-so-nice encounter with the cashier I did not even bother calling to complain or to get a new sandwich. I tried to suck it up and eat it, but it was absolutely horrible. It's upsetting because I really liked this place. Unfortunately, with bad service & a bad food experience, I will not be giving them a second chance. I can't believe all the mediocre/bad reviews for this place! By FAR, this is the best pizza in Maynard. The atmosphere is family friendly, open layout (you can see the brick oven!) with plenty of two-top tables in addition to the larger tables for groups. It's always clean and bright with great seating by the window. The waitstaff are nice, albeit, average -- now that they serve beer and wine (thank you!), they'll proudly suggest a craft/small brew beer, but aren't too helpful if you ask for a suggestion. I judge a pizza by its sauce and crust. Roasted Peppers' classic cheese pizza really lets the sauce shine through. The crust is chewy with just the right balance of sweet and yeastiness, made from scratch, and there is a great selection of toppings. Most importantly, it is consistent *every* time. That goes a long way! Our favorites are the veggie, melanzana, aloha and the classic margherita. The pasta here is also quite good. My boyfriend is a sucker for the mascarpone ravioli. The fried ravioli and eggplant milano are highlights on the appetizer section (although definitely not light in calories!). We usually go for dinner, and my only complaint is that they're only open until 9PM. When we first moved to Maynard in the fall of 2012, the owner/chef was out on the floor more frequently -- he's a great guy with a passion for good food. I haven't seen him as much recently, which is a shame, but he's probably busy creating magic in the kitchen! read more

my family and I have been coming to Roasted Peppers since it opened. We watched as the original owner went from being a sandwich shop to a weekend breakfast place to eventually having the hearth to make pizzas and expand his dinner menu. It was great - we went to comedy shows there and really got to know the staff. Unfortunately, service has gone downhill since the new ownership. The food is still good - even if the new menu, which was in the works several years ago has never materialized - but the waiting time for dinners has gotten worse and worse. add to this the fact that their wait staff has gone through a complete turnover and it is a recipe for problems. Tonight, seven of us went for dinner there - four adults and three kids. It took an hour to get any food or any drinks; in fact, after almost an hour, we were told that one of the beers was no longer available and that they were even out of Bud Light. This is not a good sign. While waiting for my food, I had some of my son's pizza - as did others at the table. By the time we got our food (the adults), the kids were almost done eating and we were frustrated by how long it took to get anything. Mind you, this is a small establishment and there are not a ton of tables - by the time we got our food, in fact, only two other tables were occupied. They have also changed their drink policy. We had ordered a bottle of wine, and had half of it left only finished eating. This was no problem under the old ownership - we could take the rest of a bottle home, as prescribed by Massachusetts law. The new owner does not subscribe to this, and we were told that we would not be allowed to take the bottle home. Overall, I am very disappointed. Every Friday, my family and I take a walk downtown for dinner and the range of restaurants that we can go to is dwindling. I would love to see this place improve - they clearly need help coordinating their restaurant floor so that they can time the dishes appropriately and potentially help with their ordering and inventory, if they are having trouble keeping beers in stock. There will be stiff competition coming soon, when the new brewery and beer garden opens up - a rapid reevaluation is in order. read more

Excellent food, but after the service we just received, we will not likely be going back any time soon. My wife and I have ordered panini from Roasted Pepper several times over the last year, and we've really enjoyed them. Today, however, we ordered our sandwiches earlier in the day than usual. (That fact becomes important later.) We ordered at 12:28pm and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived a few minutes shy of 20 minutes, and totally accepted the fact that I was early, so I had to wait. No big deal. But I continued to wait for another 10 minutes, another 20 minutes, and finally--30 minutes after it was supposed to be ready--it came out without a single word of apology. Not even, "Sorry for the wait." Nothing. And there were mysteriously no fries. Every single other time we called up and said the words "I'd like to order a chicken panini." We got a chicken panini with a side of fries. So why not this time? So if you order a chicken panini from Roasted Pepper, you get something different depending the time of day you order. A lunch panini is a little cheaper and has no fries, a dinner panini is a little more expensive and comes with fries. If you are going to have two items with the same name, I think it's the responsibility of the person taking the order to make sure the customer confirms they've ordered the right one. (As opposed to arbitrarily saying "no fries" because it's technically lunch time.) At this point I was so frustrated by having to wait 50 minutes for something I was told would take 20--with no apology whatsoever--I paid for my food, grumbled, and went home. Then I opened up my sandwich, and I it was then that I officially decided we were never going back to Roasted Pepper. (See photo attached to this review.) The whole point of a panini is that it is toasted, right? And considering they had nearly an hour to prepare it, the sandwich should have been nicely toasted at least. Nope. It was completely wet, soggy, and falling apart. This place has some great food, but there are too many other great places to eat in Maynard for me to spend anymore of my money at this establishment. I ordered the Pesto chicken cafe sandwich, fries and the frozen cappuccino. All but the pesto chicken cafe was good. Not sure if its missing a sauce other than pesto but, it wasn't good at all. To top it off, the delivery man inform me drivers can only drive within 4 MLS in which, is why he didn't initially take the back road leading to the rear of my job Adesa Auction, as noted in my order. So two stars for the good fries and cappuccino. I wish I didn't leave the 15% tip. It wasn't worth it. read more

This place is great for sandwiches but we've also discovered that it's absolutely awesome for catering. My husband and I were looking for someplace to do a casual cookout for a party the day after our wedding. After we struck out with a very pricey caterer who didn't seem to get the casual atmosphere we were going for, my husband happened to discover that Roasted Peppers did catering for more than just sandwiches. I wasn't involved in a lot of the initial planning but RP gave us very good pricing and a menu that was exactly what we were looking for. Jim was easy to contact via email and worked with us to come up with a plan that fit our needs and our budget. He was also very willing to be flexible when our original venue fell through and the party ended up being much farther away. In fact, he was so great that one of our criteria for a replacement venue was that they had to let us use RP as our caterers. We met with Jim a week before the party to go over the plan and get all the details worked out. He was very professional and friendly and gave us a copy of the estimated quote, which ended up being lower than we'd expected. The day of the party he and his staff were amazing. Everything went 100% smoothly and the food was delicious. People are still raving about the cake, which we had actually gotten from Costco at Jim's suggestion. Not for people with allergies! There are many pizzas listed as gluten free, and they do have gluten free crust. However, they don't seem to realize that toppings can have allergens in them as well. I ordered a gf pizza that came with eggplant on it. The eggplant was breaded. Kinda defeats the purpose. I called to ask, and they're sending a new gf pizza. This time I asked for just cheese because I didn't trust them. New pizza arrived just over an hour later. It was the original pizza I ordered, minus the breaded eggplant. read more

Got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap there today, was incredibly disappointed. First off the woman at the counter made us wait for about 5 minutes while she was on the phone taking orders, while another woman just kind of looked on and didn't get involved other to make the guy behind us a coffee, which took her an eternity in itself to prepare. When we got the sandwiches we ordered, both weren't even wrapped all the way and dripping everywhere. Mine was so loosely wrapped, and so gross and drippy with sauce I had to eat the whole thing with a fork....which sucks when you're in the mindset for a sweet ass wrap for lunch. read more

Roasted Pepper is a small sandwich and pizza shop in downtown Maynard. It's a walkup order counter and they have a decently sized menu of sandwiches and other italian fare. Don't make a special trip to visit this place. My wife ordered a turkey sandwich, and the bread was dry and barely held together. My kid had the peanut butter sandwich that was ok, but not great. In their defense, you can't do much with a peanut butter sandwich. I ordered a calzone. The big problem was that it took about 30 minutes for them to make it. My wife and kid had finished eating and were ready to go at that point. I had to take it to-go to avoid the inevitable toddler meltdown. The calzone was fair, made fresh from frozen ingredients, and about was about the size of a football. If it had been done a bit quicker that would have helped. I would actually have gone with a 3.5 if that were possible. I've tried this place for breakfast. My husband and I each got breakfast burritos, which I would rate as okay as they were just basic- scrambled eggs, melted cheese, and plain tortillas. The homefries served on the side were definitely a highlight- crispy, well-seasoned, delicious! Iced coffee was disappointing. Watered down, lacked flavor. Excellent, friendly service. Good prices. Definitely better than the evil beanhouse down the street. Overall, I would go back again, but I would try somewhere else first. read more

Ordered delivery off GrubHub. Order linguine bolognese, which coming from a pizza / sub shop probably should have been the initial do not, but I decided to either way. An hour and thirty minutes later (originally quoted 45 minutes max.) I was delivered linquine with a small amount of some watery tomato sauce, long pieces of onions and peppers (like you would get from the italian sausage subs from the street vendors) and chunks of ripped up hamburger thrown on top (which clearly was from a meatball). Clearly, just a dish made by someone who has no idea what they're doing. Typically, I might just go with the mediocre 2 star review for the decent linguine part of the dish, however the 1 star goes with the service. When my food was not delivered, I called the restaurant who then said that GrubHub did not pick up the food, but he would deliver it himself... kudos to the restaurant right? However, I chatted with GrubHub online and let them know the situation, she said she was refunding my money and apologized for the inconvenience... 3 minutes later my phone rings... It's the restaurant. The guy has my number from when I called, and then proceeds to yell all these obscene phrases in chinese at me on the phone about why the money was refunded when he delivered the pizza. I then told him the situation of GH NOT picking it up, and he had nothing to do with it... and he still continued to yell and then hung up on me. So... all in all... definitely won't being giving them a 2nd chance. read more

When I worked in Maynard, this place was my go-to lunch spot. I always got the Smokehouse sandwich. I tried to mix it up, I really did, but I always went back to the smokehouse. Damn that sandwich was tasty. Crispy bread, fresh roast beef, bbq sauce, onion, and perfectly cooked bacon. The place isn't much to look at on the inside, it's clearly a deli/sub shop, but the people are nice and the service quick. The cute eastern european accents didn't hurt either. read more

Pros: - good pizza - seems like Italian pizza, not your typical Greek pizza you get up here in MA - prices Cons: - parking - on street - ambience - seems a little dingy - bathrooms - you have to walk through the kitchen and the bathrooms aren't all that clean - no military discount - When asked if they give a military discount, a simple "no" would suffice, but the guy behind the counter actually scoffed at the question and then said "Sorry boss, we don't do that here". I get it if you don't want to provide a discount, that seems to be a common thing around here, but show respect where respect is due. read more

Came in for a quick lunch. Ordered the grilled chicken house salad. I bet in ~5 minutes it was served with steaming chicken on top. My wife said the seasoning on the chicken was good. I agree. I have ordered from this restaurant a lot. I have picked up and I have had delivery. Today is the day I have decided to no longer order from Roasted Peppers. I placed an order online and picked a delivery time- a time that fell within the perimeters of my short lunch break. Ten minutes after that time I called and was told the driver would be right there. Ten minutes after that I was given excuses as to why my pizza wasn't there. While I can understand that there is only one driver when a specific time is picked in order to establish delivery, that should be recognized and should be planned around rather than have the driver go 20 minutes out of town. Mind you my address is probably 2-3 minutes from the store. I found the person on the phone rude and dismissive. I was never offered any type of ANYTHING due to the lateness of the driver. I was never offered a sincere apology. Rather, the person on the phone continued to be dismissive, rude, and make excuses. What is the point of being able to pick a time for delivery if that important piece of information is ignored. I also placed my order an hour earlier than the delivery time. By the 3rd phone call- at almost noon- I canceled the order. And of course that is an issue in and of itself- I wont' get my money back for 5-10 days. Ridiculous. read more

Best Pizza around! We have lived in the area for a number of years and love the pizza at RP. Other items are good to, but we always end up with at least some pizza because it is so good. The staff is outstanding as well. They are always friendly (even when my kids are being loud and not at their best) and know what it takes to be family friendly. It is always clean too. It seems like a lot of places that you go into for a meal today you sit down feeling like you need to do your own cleaning for the table and chairs, but not at Roasted Peppers. read more
