Been here a couple of days both for myself and my son and every time we have an apt we are seen at our apt time without a wait. I called today and I was able to get a same day apt & the receptionists helping me over the phone were very helpful. The exam was quick & easy, I've been there before so didn't need all the exams to be explained. Everyone was helpful with answering questions and getting me in & out of my apt in a timely manner. They accept insurance which definitely brings down the price of their frames significantly. Will definitely continue coming here for my eye exams and frames read more

I was a previous patient several yrs ago and returned because they had appts for eye exam within a wk. Also, I had a good experience when I was a previous patient. Appt on Saturday, Sept 13 @ 2 pm. Approached front door and you have press button. Employee answers "How can I help you?" I informed her I have an appt.. Buzzed in and signed in. Filled out the paperwork and waited. Place filled with people waiting. Waited for 15 minutes and staff called me. She said to me sit here for a test. Never explaining anything just rest your chin here. Finished and thought I would be placed in a room. Nope. Told wait in the lobby. Waited for 30 minutes and asked staff how much longer approx 2 hrs because a patient in AM took doctor's time that put him behind. I rescheduled. Returned Monday, Sept 22 @ 5 pm. Arrived and again needing to be buzzed in. Lobby only a couple people. Name called & followed the employee again with this sit here, chin here. Umm I did this already last visit. I am here just for the doctor. Told that I had to redo this test but again not told what the name of test. Went to lobby waited and shortly afterwards called into a room. I don't recall if doctor introduced himself. He had no professional coat & no name badge. Assuming he is the doctor and test proceeded. He took my old glasses and test them to see the prescription. After testing told I have cataract in right eye and you need surgery. Insurance covers it. Trying to process this news as he was documenting in the computer then he gets up and leaves the room. I am assuming to schedule me for surgery or get paperwork for the surgery. Nope. He left to attend another patient to give them an eye exam. Extremely rude leaving me waiting for 15 minutes then he returns with patient following him. She wanted discussed something to him then she realized I was in the room. Left to the front. He finished with me and he went to the front to give employee my chart. He tells the employee that these 2 patients need cataract surgery then leaves. Employee gives me couple papers tells me to call this doctor ask if they take my insurance then return to them to get glasses. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. Employees are receptionist. They do check insurance for eye exam when booking appt but beyond that don't ask. Here is the paperwork & patient to figure it out. Then you need to buzzed out so once inside your locked in. As I was trying to leave tells me I have to pay co-payment. They charge at the end of the visit or stayed locked inside. I anticipated to be their for 15 or maybe 30 minutes at the most but was their for alittle over an hr being late returning to work. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. Doctor is mediocre. Employee has lack of patient education. Lack of empathy from doctor and employees. Explained to me why employees at the front desk are wearing scrubs. Not understanding that part. Ive been going to this optometry office for 10 years and Robert F. Collins is NOT the optometrist that will see you. I believe he is really old and not sure if he's still in practice but he owns this office and all the years I e cone to this location, there were always 2-3 different optometrists. Now DR. MATHERNE (The VERY rude Elizabeth who works the desk and along with the other woman and one man who work the front are all extremely rude-she didn't wanna give me his full name. I told her it was my right as a patient. She snubbed me. How unprofessional they have gotten.) who did me, my mother and was about to do my fiances eyes, ended up only doing my mother and I's exams and completely ruined my prescription and we both had a change in vision. The guy had no idea what he was even doing. I am stumped for words that he's still working there. So please, DO NOT GO HERE. DR. MATHERNE is really bad at being an optometrist, like he graduated school with a low grade. How he got hired ASAP full time optometrist is beyond me?! And when I say I've seen some amazing optometrists in the past like 2015, where I had gotten minor eye surgery, that optometrist was really educated. I wish I had read the reviews before I made an appointment here. I stood, in full view of the glass door and pulled to enter the business. The door was locked. I looked around to see if I needed to enter a code or ring a doorbell. I saw the door pad near the door blink so I tried the door again. Again it was locked. I put my headphones away, prepared to try using the intercom on the keypad, only to hear the door unlock. Cool, no problem. I understand having the door locked. I do not understand though the young woman behind the counter laughing and whispering to the other receptionist while staring at me. So now I immediately felt really uncomfortable. I sign in and wait for my appointment. That same young woman takes me to the back for the pre eye exam. There were two exams. She never explains what the machines do, only to put my head against the machine. She doesn't say much of anything to me. One of the machines kept hitting me in the eye so I pulled away. She came around the table and literally put her hand on the back of my head to push it against the machine, without saying a word to me. I pulled away completely shocked. She mumbled a sorry. I explained that the machine kept hitting me in the eye. She left the room and then came back to tell me to sit in the office. The other receptionist told me I needed to sign a waiver since I was refusing to take the exam. I informed her that I wasn't refusing, that the young lady never told me what the machines were, what they did and that she physically put her hands on me to push my face into the machine without saying a word. The receptionist repeated herself, saying that I would need to sign the waiver. I explained again that I wasn't refusing the exam. She took me back and completed the exam without any issue. The machine didn't even come close to my eye this time. Which makes me think the original assistant wasn't using the machine properly. I went through the exam with the doctor. He had to retake the other exam that the original assistant took since the results were wrong. So that's twice that she was misusing the machine. After the exam I went to check out and they dismissed me after learning I wouldn't be buying glasses. I asked if I had an updated prescription and the lady said, "yeah, do you want it?" Um. Well, yes. I would like the thing I came in for so I can update my glasses. I was going to ask them to replace all the lenses in my current pairs of glasses (5) but after that experience I will never return here again. I'm only giving two stars because the doctor was efficient and nice. It's completely unfortunate that the people representing his company are rude and cold. read more

I'm pissed off, I have been waiting for my glasses for about 2 months. I called in June and in July and the person said "did we call". I have been wearing glasses with no prescription. dealing with headaches and blurred vision. along with seeing white specks. I called 2 days ago and was told they called me May 31, 2024. So I waited and was suffering this whole time for nothing. The office only called 1 time for a glasses prescription. Next week will be August. I am very disappointed I don't even want to take my 5 year old daughter for a new pair of glasses. they are rude over the phone and they don't keep accurate report of calls placed and messages that are left. I work for a HOA and my customer service skills have to be flawless. Why only call 1 time and let a month and 24 days go by without contacting me again, why not give a follow up call? I had to suffer causing my vision to get worse so I might need a whole new prescription. I really wanted to cry on the phone because there was no remorse or apologies. read more

Check out other places before ordering ur glasses . They over charge here and are extremely rude and salty .After my insurance my total was 280 . I ended up going to Toluca lake optometrist center and paid 120 for same glasses with the nice lenses. And customer Service was Amazing . When they found out I would not be picking up my glasses they got mad and held my prescription from me till the decided they wanted to give it to me lol they did call back and eventually faxing it over . Horrible experience. Last year was my first visit. The glasses they gave me were way to strong. So he re did them for me. The doctor is great, The front office staff completely incompetent. They sold me a cheap pair of lenses and they were scratched within 2 weeks. They never even offered me all the upgrades on lenses, which I would of happily paid. They were horribly scratched even using microfiber! So I called them and asked them why. They said oh you didn't buy the anti scratch. Because I'm psychic? So I said fine. I want another pair same frame with the Maserati of lenses. They didn't bother to check my chart and reordered the stronger wrong prescription. When I got the glasses after using them for a day or two, I called and said that something didn't feel right. The front desk told me just give it a week. It should be fine, so I did. They said it was because of the special anti-scratch, anti-glare was the reason why they felt so different from my glasses. It took me about a month to get used to the strong prescription. I didn't know I got the wrong prescription until this year. When I went in for my check up,and the doctor said oh wow these are the stronger prescription. so that upset me but I said OK whatever I got used to it. then I went to re-order the same exact prescription because my eyes did not change. I told the lady, I want the same exact type of lenses with everything on them just like last time. You would think she had my chart and would just reorder appropriately. NOPE!!! when I got my new glasses, I took them home and I tried to use them reading and they were really messing with my eyes. The next day same thing so I called, again the blanket statement, " give it a few days." So I did and I was dying. Headaches every single day, and in bed by 8 o'clock. I couldn't take it anymore. at this point I'm thinking there should be no difference from my old glasses to the new glasses because it's the same exact prescription. so I brought them in. When I got to the office, she double checked the prescription and they were the same , and told me "I don't know what to tell you", and I'm looking at her like these are two different types of glasses. They are not the same !! so she finally pulls my chart, and makes it my fault, that I didn't order the antiglare. I looked at her with such disbelief. Are you serious? I told you that I wanted the exact same glasses, exact same lenses, you are the professional that's what you should've ordered and charged me. I have no problem paying for them, so there was no reason not to make sure that it was the exact same pair. She proceeded to tell me "well you didn't order it." No I'm sorry nothing. And to remake them it would be an additional $85. I was so mad at this point I asked for my prescription and left. I called a few hours later and asked to speak to the doctor, they said that wasn't possible and transferred me to the manager voicemail which hung up on me before I could leave a complete message. I called back and made them take a handwritten message. The manager called me back a day later. I explained all of this she says, oh I agree with you. I'm sorry. Then calls me back two hours later and now tells me it's $95 and not $85 to remake the lenses. I told her that yesterday I was quoted 85 all she said "well she misquoted you I'm sorry, 95 is the price". what type of incompetent and crazy customer service that you wouldn't even offer to split the difference or do something for all of the inconvenience I have incurred not once, not twice, but three times. Never ever ever going back here unfortunately I'm pretty sure they wouldn't even tell the doctor what happened. Because he's a pretty cool guy and he has no idea what his staff is doing. They are just covering up for each other. Oh, and let me add when I went to Costco, the optometry doctor charges $20 for co-pay and Dr. Collin's office charge me $35 for co-pay with the same insurance. And the lenses that Dr. Collins office is going to charge me $156 were 59$ at Costco with the insurance. Unbelievable! read more

The eye exam went good but my problem is first the wait for my glasses was too long 2 months they told me it would be a 3 week wait and then I called for an update after 3 weeks and they told me it would be another week or two. I gave them two weeks and they told me they will give me a call when my glasses we ready. I gave them 3 more weeks and then I called for my glasses and they told me it would be ready after 4. I come and to my surprise after two months of waiting for frames they gave me the wrong ones. I let them know, they kept me waiting and told me to use the ones they currently gave me and they will give me a call when my frames that I wanted are ready. They didn't give me a time table for the frames to come. A very bad experience I won't be coming back here again. read more

I went here once, because they are on my VSP list. My eye exams are free through my insurance but they tried to charge me anyway. I saw a female Dr who was quite nice, it was a fast exam for both my husband and me. They have, by far, the tiniest selection of glasses, and they lied to us, telling us we HAD to buy glasses from them (which I don't, I know my policy). The front desk people were rude or indifferent, the person "showing" us glasses was just rude through and through, insulting our choices as "old" (I am old lol). I know what I want and she kept pushing their most expensive frames on us, not only did we not want them we thought they were ugly. But apparently I have bad taste. I asked for my script so I could buy our glasses elsewhere, and after making us wait for over 30 mins they finally produced a handwritten barely-legible paper script. I asked for a typed or electronic version but they said they don't do that. I ended up at Costco and they had to call to verify the script because it wasn't clear on the paper, poor handwriting will do that..... Also, no parking and it is a tiny, tiny office with too many people which causes the office to feel stuffy. I had been coming here for 12 years. Little by little every visit has been getting worse. First, their contact prices are outrageous so I always have to do a "dance" to get a fair price. Basically, I find the same contacts online (contactlensking.com) and they finally price match. I think many people just pay their prices without knowing any better. Their markup is anywhere between 50-100% higher than online. (2) They are very PUSHY with selling eye glasses. The assumption is that they must get a strong commission on the frames. (3) The final straw is that the optometrists themselves now seem to be trying to nickel and dime their customers. Recently, they introduced a "contact lens fitting fee". This was a 30 second "procedure" where they simply check my contacts to see if I can actually see out of them. I would think that it would be just good practice to ensure that your products/recommendations actually work. To charge $69 dollars for this is RIDICULOUS! Granted my insurance company picks up most of the tab, but one gets the feeling that their is some swindling going on. I've had the same lenses/prescription for YEARS. Clearly my contacts do their job well, so why after all that time would I need to see if they fit correctly? Lastly, the customer service has gone downhill. It took 20 minutes just to pick up my prescription when it was ready. Their seemed to be a lot of disorganization throughout the office. I've only seen Dr. Collins twice in my 12 years there and he was fantastic. I hope that he knows that the other people occupying his office are not living up to his name. I spoke with the receptionist, Alex, who told me that they will not help my current situation as they have "already finalized my prescription." I can't agree with the other fellow Yelpers. Avoid this place. I booked an appointment with Dr. Collins and when I showed up, I was seen by a different doctor. No one ever gave me the courtesy of telling me I'd not be seeing Dr. Collins. I probably wouldn't have cared, but not cool to just thrust someone else upon me. The eye exam was not thorough. I called after I found this place on Yelp. They were very friendly on the phone and got me in the same day for my eye exam. I needed contacts, glasses, and my eye checked for an eye infection YUCK!! I saw Dr. Wong, she was GREAT!! She explained everything to me and sent me home with some contacts to try. They have a great selection of frames, designers, prada, versace, etc. I went with eye lab for my frames because I found a unique pair there but they had many I liked here as well. They price match for contacts. She cleared up my eye infection, got me set with new contacts, and gave me a script for my glasses. My contact follow up was included with my appointment so I went back in a week and was checked to make sure all was good to go so I could order boxes. My doctor was amazing ! She explained me a lot of concerns I had about my eye exams and she was very informative. She was kind and very sweet and she made sure that I was comfortable at all times. I did enjoy my experience with the doctor. Also , all the ladies that work reception and the lady that helped choosing my frames where really sweet and treated me with kindness. I did notice the office was really clean . A lot of seats on the waiting room . I also didn't have to wait too long for the doctor . I will definitely come back . Do your research and ask them for prices before you go in. If you have insurance, please confirm with the company before you go in. They have separate exams for contact lenses and separate for eye glasses, most other places have one exam for both, not to mention their exam prices are higher than others in the area and somehow their exam base price fluctuate based on what insurance you carry... highly unethical. read more
