When I visited NY, Roberta's was one of my favorites. When they opened here, I had to go and get me a pie and see if it's close to the same to their original location. I can definitely say it is just as good! Every time me and my wife came to get a pie, it was nothing short my delicious. I would say the ambiance here is much better than the original. I ordered the Bee Sting pizza, the Bikini Bottom cocktail, and tiramisu for dessert. The crust on the pizza is delicious, has some chew/bite to it, and slight char which I really like. The Bikini Bottom cocktail is a delicious, well-balanced tiki-adjacent cocktail. The tiramisu is hands-down the best I've ever had and I'd consider stopping in just to have it. Been here a few years ago and I remembered the good bloody's, the big fluffy bread thing w/the cheese & olive oil, and yummy pastas. Had the perfect opportunity to come so we did !! Came on a Sunday and they were able to get us in. Really nice day to eat on the patio. Lots of greenery. Ok so the STRACCIATELLA is the best app. That's the bread w/cheese and olive oil. SO bomb. Never had anything like it. Then we got a pasta. Yum. The steak & eggs wasn't it, though. The potatoes were too sweet? Steak way too fatty. Orange wine is fire. Not many places know about it. Boyfriend loved the pachanga cocktail (mezcal w like a really fresh green juice mix mash). But the most important this trip here was George, our server. Really took care of us!! Sad to update this review but felt compelled based on my two most recent experiences at Roberta's. Both times had quality control issues on a few of the pizzas we ordered, most notably with pizzas being way too charred (and in one case very underbaked). I love a little char on my pizza but this was a bit egregious with one pizza with a hole quite literally burned through the bottom (probably also due to not being stretched properly/evenly). In my most recent experience there was a quarter sized chunk of char stuck to the bottom of the pizza which I didn't notice until I took a bite out of it and had the horrific experience of feeling like I bit into some Kingsford charcoal. I'm sure mistakes happen so I don't want to over criticize but these were really rough experiences and I'm not sure I'd come back again after; even though this has been my go-to pizza spot in Culver for many years now. read more

I visited Roberta's a few times on different trips to the platform. It's always a great excuse to have a meal and a day of shopping. This restaurant is a really solid Italian spot, that is Pizza forward. I guess they have an original location in Brooklyn, New York, which makes a lot of sense. We went for brunch and had a really nice time outside in the sun, with a few drinks and a cheese plate with prosciutto and we split a pizza. Take a look at the photos, but everything was super delicious. Roberta's Culver City - Not Worth It!!! We came in with a 7:30pm reservation for 13 people. Five of us--40% of the table--never received our pizzas. Not late. Not delayed. Never. Those that were served their main courses were apologizing to the rest of us as they ate their perfectly mediocre food. It was definitely awkward. What's worse, it took over an hour for our waitress and the hostess to realize anything was wrong. No check-ins, no awareness--just five empty place settings sitting there unnoticed. At 9:00pm, we were told the pizza order never made it to the kitchen. That's not a small mistake--that's a complete breakdown of Roberta's restaurant operations. Something is wrong with this location's team from the hostess to the wait staff. The response from our hostess who stepped in front of the waitress to deliver the bad news that our pizzas would not be arriving? A simple apology. No urgency, no real attempt to fix the situation, no meaningful accommodation. Note our reaction to their complete fail was to be polite and respectfully express our disappointment. The hostess said that she was going to take some items off our bill to make good for their shocking error but that never happened. The food that did arrive didn't help. Across the board, it was dull and forgettable--pasta, burgers, all lacking flavor or personality. For a menu built on simplicity, there's nowhere to hide, and Roberta's doesn't deliver. BTW, I should have known that our dinner was going to be problematic...They were out of their meatball appetizer at 7:30pm. An Italian restaurant that runs out of meatballs on a Friday evening suggests that there are some deeper issues going on at Roberta's in Culver City. This wasn't a minor slip--it was systemic. From order-taking to execution, the entire experience felt inattentive and disjointed. The baseline expectation at any restaurant is simple: everyone gets fed. The staff is amazing and super friendly and really knows the menu, they make great recommendations without being pushy, and you can tell they actually care that you have a good experience. The place has such a great vibe too. It's always packed, but in the best way fun, lively, and full of good energy. The food was incredible. We started with a few appetizers that were honestly so good we could've just stuck with those. The fire and ice is one of those dishes you keep thinking about after the meal. The porchetta was another highlight crispy edges, tender inside, and that verde salsa on the side was the perfect touch. What really surprised us was the pizza from the guest chef. Potatoes on pizza sounded a little odd at first, but our server recommended it and it ended up being the favorite of the night. Just so, so good. Already can't wait to go back. I rarely write negative reviews but feel compelled to warn others when the experience is genuinely so bad. 3 gals and I were there at 445pm which is happy hour. Surprised the service was so bad considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. We wanted to get a happy hour pizza but by the time someone came to take our order it was past 5pm and they charged us regular dinner prices (little annoying but not the end of the world). We got the straciatella cheese with pita + 2 pizzas + 2 pastas. I've been here before and the quality didn't use to be like this - pita & all pizza was burned / charred so bad there was almost no bread bite at all (seeing another recent review which states the same thing). The straciatella cheese use to be really creamy and full but this one was tasteless and literally flat like it has been sitting out for some time.. The bucatini was fine but the cacio pepe was literally the worst cacio pepe I've ever had. The noodles didn't have bounce (didn't taste fresh made) and the sauce was laughable. Again, I hate to be this harsh and in other settings I wouldn't say anything but for these prices.. I was still hungry after the meal because ultimately I didn't eat much!! My friends all felt the same!! We didn't even take the leftovers because we knew we wouldn't eat it.. overall just not a great experience at all. read more

I wasn't super fond of the straciatelle and anchovies, but that may just be a me problem. 3 stars for the pasta. They weren't the worst I've ever had, but the clam linguine was so bland I don't even know if they seasoned it with anything other than salt (and a lot of it). The bucatini with guanciale was pretty good, the sauce was great, if a little salty, but I'm not a fan of the guanciale (again, may be a me problem? it was too chewy for my liking). Robert's is good and trendy but there is something lacking in the quality of the LA locations, specifically the Culver City location in this experience. I'll start with the good and work my way down. The culver location is in a great area located in 'the platform' shopping/dining outside hall type place. They have indoor and outdoor seating, cool music playing and very hip people working throughout. Service was kind but the pizza came out really slow. I will say we went on the off hour, 3pm on a Sunday, so that probably had something to do with it. I don't blame the waiter for this, it was probably the morning chefs being switched with the evening chefs when we went. We ordered the bee sting & ursulas parade. The bee sting was not on the menu this time but if you ask for it, they have it and it's probably their most known pizza with soppressata, basil & honey. There was a sweetness to it but the honey flavor itself wasn't really coming through. Since it wasn't on the menu I wasn't even sure if it came with honey at that point but someone confirmed with me there was. This pizza is really good but still something was lacking. Maybe it could've been cooked a bit longer, I'm not sure? Ursula's parade is their take on a clam pie. This one was interesting and really good with a spicy pepper (fresno?) and white sauce style and parsley. This was a fun and creative pizza. We didn't eat everything there so when we got home we reheated our slices at 400 for 8 minutes and I can say I thought the pizza was a lot better this way. Maybe they didn't cook it long enough there? Prices are sort of expensive, even by LA standards considering the size of the pizzas but not insane. It's a nice dining experience and the ingredients they use are quality. We paid $70 w/ tip for two pizzas & a coke. Overall, the pizza was good but I can't say I'd be rushing back. There is a lot of good pizza in LA right now so I have other spots to try first. Overall though, a fun and delicious experience located in a fun and happening part of town but if you want a true Roberta's experience I'd try their NY location first, which I find to be better all around. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience. While having dinner with my family. Our sweet waiter was making a connection with our young son being jovial and kind. Within half an hour of being there we watched a woman(who I found out was the general manager) berate and yell at our waiter. Not in a back room but within 15 feet of my 4 year old son in the main dining room. She seemed oblivious to the fact that other people were in the room. She stomped around the very small dining room and back kitchen barking orders to others and nosily slamming items on counters. With its friendly host, spacious outdoor patio, and eclectic interior, I stepped into Roberta's thinking it had potential. Unfortunately, I left knowing it was painfully mediocre at best. We were greeted and seated promptly, and after about 7 minutes our server let us know that he'd be with us promptly. Unfortunately, it took him quite a while to circle back to us. This behavior was unfortunately consistent throughout the entire night, but seemingly only with our table. Whenever we'd ask him for something (to-go boxes, the check, dessert, drinks) it took at least 10-15 minutes to get back to us. At first I thought he may have been swamped, but as the restaurant cleared out, it was clear that wasn't the case. Service was so slow and forgetful for us that a couple who came in 1.5 hours after us got their to-go boxes at the same time as us. Our meal also wasn't properly paced. My pizza came out before my friend's and before our appetizer and we both had our entrees before our drinks came out even though she ordered a bottled drink and an ice tea. But I could've forgiven all of this if the food and bevs were good. Sadly, they were decidedly not. I'd say the bread with clarified butter was the best thing I ate all night. It was soft and airy, which I thought bode well for my pizza. Unfortunately, my Bee Sting pizza (formerly on the secret menu) was pretty bad. I love a drizzle of honey on my pizza, but it literally felt like my whole pie had been dunked in a vat of honey. Way too sweet and overpowering, it was the dominant taste of the pizza. Not even the soppressata could counterbalance it. I tasted no spice and no sauce and the abundance of honey made my pie so soggy. I'm talking you pick a slice up and everything, including the cheese, falls off the pie. I couldn't finish it and didn't even want to. My friend's pizza was only slightly better. She has enjoyed the Roberta's in NYC often, but said she would not return to the LA location. The sugar snap peas were fresh with a great texture, but bland. Meanwhile, my mocktail, which was supposed to boast flavors of pineapple, ginger, and mint tasted like a watered down mess. It was as if all the ice had melted in a terrible tasting juice. I thought maybe the night could be saved with dessert and we ordered the tiramisu, but it was just ok. Good texture, huge portion, but again somehow bland. We didn't even eat half of it. I'm happy to drop money on a meal, but the taste has to justify the price and I was beyond disappointed. Oh, and if you decide to go, avoid the last stall on the right in the women's bathroom. The toilet is broken and it splashed back up at me and got all over my leg. I let my server know and he promised to share feedback with maintenance. Our server was super nice and quickly got out all our orders as we ordered a lot. The must get is the stracciatella cheese and bread, we got three orders for the table and were gone in seconds. The bread is light, fluffy, charred all around, and sprinkle just enough flaky salt. The cheese is rich and sitting in extra virgin olive oil and fresh cracked pepper on top. This dish is just too good to pass up on. The pizza is the exact same, that crust is so fluffy and charred. I got the margherita add soppressata, definitely one of the best neopolitan pizzas I have had. We also got the spring chicories which was super acidic to help balance the heavy carbs. We got both the carbonara and amatriciana. The amatriciana was the favorite and the carbonara was not good. The steak was around a 10oz perfectly cooked and tender, for $40 which is a steal in LA. We ended with the roasted cherries which had the pits in them which was annoying and did not like. Overall, get the cheese and bread, and if you want to be fancy get a pizza. read more

The food was excellent. I especially loved the Straciatella with house bread. It was a bit pricey but I don't mind paying for quality, and the food is high quality here. My biggest issue is with the fact that I made a reservation and yet when I arrived on time, there were no reserved tables and multiple groups with reservations were waiting outside. They offered me the window seat which I took because I didn't want to wait but I would have preferred a table. The service was also more relaxed than I would have liked which extended my dining time. Plenty of parking in the Platform structure across the street. Was $2 for an hour. This place can get super busy during weekends, so be sure to call in and make a reservation if you can! After reading all the reviews, I had to get their house bread with butter and the Bee Sting. Surprisingly, the famous Bee Sting was not listed on their menu but you can ask for it. Food came out pretty quick and was piping hot. The bread was so delicious and the butter was perfectly salty. The Bee Sting was a bit sweeter than I expected with the tomato sauce but nevertheless was delicious. I even took some leftovers home and they tasted great the day after. read more

Our waitress knew we were catching up and she didn't interfere, but helped keep us enjoying the moment we were having (that's worthy of high praise itself) by moving things along without making us do the work. "So, you need some food and are busy - how about some greens and pizzas?" Yes, please! While we did eventually select the pizzas, our waitress guided the process (sheesh, I wish I had learned her name..) And? The food - oh my! I LOVE thin crust pizza that are perfectly topped (not heavily overburdened with ingredients.) And they must be cooked properly and perfectly - these were, thank you. I'm not sure which pizzas I ate, but I have a feeling they were the "popular kids" or in this case pizzas. One of the best meals of all time (and service to match). My wife and I are huge foodies and we've been to the usual Jon and Vinny's, Uovo, etc. which are good but factory like and you get factory energy. We had the best server in Ethan who checked in with us the perfect amount and didn't rush us which feels refreshing after past experiences in LA. He knew the menu inside out and the price was more than reasonable for the quality. In fact, we felt the Carbonora and Amatricana were the best in LA to date. We enjoyed it more than most of our meals in Italy... You must get the salad which was dressed perfectly (Gem) and unlike any in LA. Ambiance here is fantastic. They have both indoor and outdoor seating (which is heated!) We made a reservation and were promptly seated inside. It was pretty loud so I'd recommend sitting outside if you want a slightly quieter ambiance. The vibe inside felt very hip and trendy, and all the workers were dressed very stylishly. The menu has a lot of interesting flavor combinations for pizzas. We got the bee sting pizza (not on the menu, but you can ask for it and they'll make it) as well as the fall of doom pizza, which had sausage and broccoli rabe and some creamy burrata-like cheese. The crust on both was nicely chewy, pretty thick for neapolitan style crust, but a little too burnt in places for my liking. The bee sting had a great sweet and spicy flavor especially after I added extra red pepper flakes on top, but it wasn't super memorable or groundbreaking. The cheese on top of the fall of doom pizza was a bit too rich for me but the overall flavor was great. The service was pretty slow here. It took a while to order and then probably an hour to get our food, which they warned us about to be fair. So just be prepared to be sitting here for a while! PSA the bathrooms here are so nice. It's separate from the restaurant and part of the little surrounding shopping area I think, but it felt very upscale and was so clean. read more

This was a night that had a joint event with pizzeria sei and was looking forward to it. We needed to make reservations to this event and our reservation was at 5pm. When we got there, they weren't ready to take us in, so we had to stand in the damn cold. That was strike 1 to me. I don't appreciate when they don't honor time. We made sure we left work with enough time to get to the restaurant because we knew we had reservation, but they weren't ready. Alas, they seat us OUTSIDE in the cold. While the rest of the other patrons who were waiting with us were ALL seated inside?! Huh? Why? I guess we weren't white enough for them. We asked if we could sit inside due to the weather (it rained all day), but they said they would just "crank up the heaters". I didn't like their answer and I demanded one. Nobody could give me a straight answer, they were just passing the blame to the next person. Until I asked for a manager, who wasn't enthusiastic to even help us. I just wanted an answer. With no explanation, they moved us inside. Strike 2. Food came and it was nothing great, they hyped it too much. Strike 3. Sorry. But this restaurant isn't gonna earn my business.
