Roberta's pizza was my last bite in NYC and it was great pizza! Each slice was $5 and it tasted very flavorful and the basil added a great touch! My favorite part of this location was definitely the decor all over the restaurant. The graffiti and wall art added an urban feel while mixing it with a 90's feel with the architecture and colorful tile touches. This location also has rooftop dining and handicap access to the roof via elevators. The employees were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend if you're near the area! read more

The menu features apps, pizzas, and some pasta - I wish there were more cocktail offerings, but the Aperol Spritz they were able to make me was just fine. 3 of us split 3 pizzas and a pasta. The Cacio e Pepe was absolutely delicious and I was quite surprised at how flavorful/saucy it was, as many places fail to perfect this dish. The pizzas were perfect, and the Cheesus Christ was my favorite - almost like Cacio e Pepe but in pizza form. I personally prefer the darker, more grunge-y feel of the Williamsburg Roberta's, but the Manhattan location still has the favorites (the Bee-Sting), and can make the Cheesus Christ (despite it not being on the menu). Happy hour is 4-5pm. Make sure to take the stairs directly to your right when entering to bring you the indoor and outdoor seating areas. The outdoor area is especially nice on a warm summer day. The indoor seating area is more classically welcoming and brighter compared to the Brooklyn location. Food-wise, we got the salad, Bee-sting, Cheesus Christ, and the Speckinwolf. I think everything was slightly over-seasoned; the salad was overdressed and the pizzas were a bit too salty. I enjoyed the crusts the most, surprisingly. Roberto's is known for their personal pan pizzas but because I was trying so many different pizzas throughout other locations, I decided to offer for a burger, which was delicious alongside with their potatoes. I had one of the popular cocktails, which was the A$AP Julio and that was pretty strong, fair warning, so make sure your stomach is coated, but other than that, it was such a great vibe you got such an amazing view of Midtown Manhattan on the rooftop. They had a really good tunes that were playing, and the prices were relatively reasonable especially since it was across the street from Madison Square Garden. My friend and I were trying to find a place near Penn Station for our group dinner, and she suggested Roberta's. I had had no idea that they had opened a second outpost in Manhattan, but I had loved the tasting menu that I participated in at the Brooklyn location several years ago. So, I was super excited to try their pizza and more basic items a little closer to home. The restaurant was located on the north side of Madison Square Garden, on a newly renovated pedestrian-only block. The ground floor housed a takeout pizza joint (by the slice or full pies), while there was a full-service restaurant up a flight of stairs. (There was also an elevator, so it was accessible.) They offered a large, indoor dining room, as well as an outdoor terrace with its own bar. There was a party happening on the rooftop, so we were sat indoors, which was fine except for the acoustics; the place was so crowded and buzzing that it was near impossible to hear each other from across the table. Also, our server was decent, but really could have been much more attentive and friendly; he seemed like he had a chip on his shoulder. We started our meal with some drinks, and I opted for the A$AP Julio, which included habanero tequila, cherry, pineapple, vanilla, and lime juice. It reminded me of a spicy fruit punch, so it was definitely sweet, but it was also really tasty. Later in the evening, I ordered a glass of the La Collina, 'Corale', Lambrusco Salamino from Italy, which I did not like nearly as much. I thought it was dry and a bit funky. It was also a rose, not a red sparkling, which was new to me. From a food perspective, the table shared two pizzas - the Margherita and the Bee Sting. The Margherita was rather bland and missing something...perhaps salt and/or garlic? The Bee Sting had the added toppings of soppressata, chili, and honey, so it was sweeter, spicier, and just much more flavorful. In addition, I ordered the Linguine with Mussels as my entree. The large bowl of long noodles was black from its squid ink sauce. There were also shelled mussels, small clams in their shells, and sliced green onions hidden beneath the thick ink. The sauce had a salty brine to it that was just heavenly! The pasta was also the perfect al dente texture. I took a forkful of my friend's Spaghettini with Lobster, which was topped with chili and gremolata breadcrumbs, and enjoyed it, but found it not quite as interesting and bold as my pasta dish. Roberta's definitely had its share of pluses and minuses, but, overall, it offered a mostly enjoyable meal in a casual, comfortable environment. read more

The restaurant is upstairs and it's kinda small. We ordered two pizzas and a salad. The salad was terrible. It was called summer lettuce which was bitter and not enough dressing. The two pizzas were the bee sting and margarita. They were both pretty good except for the burnt parts of the pizza. This outpost of the venerable Brooklyn pizza chain was interesting--quite a space and locale, with a large roof deck overlooking MSG and the burgeoning Penn station area. Came here with a large group for an outing so we ordered/sampled a lot. The pies are good, but you definitely feel that step down in quality from the original, famous Brooklyn location to the midtown/touristy version of that historic pizza. The margherita pizza was in fact a bit boring, but the Bee Sting had a nice kick, and I just loved the clam pie. The cocktails were solid, including a Mezcal Negroni that was nice and smooth; my friends who are connoisseurs were pretty happy with the wine options, and got us a couple of bottles to pair with our pies. I would have liked to see a few more draft beers options, but they did at least have a solid Other Half IPA The setting was certainly lovely but the service... had issues. We were there a while, ordered a lot; not only did nothing come out in a particularly timely fashion, but there were some incredibly preposterous delays. We ordered a pitcher of beer that they must have been "changing the tap on" for about 30 minutes, and at one point I ordered a cocktail that easily took 30 minutes--two different servers came by multiple times to ask if I had gotten it yet--it felt comical. Eventually, of course, I got two mezcal negronis delivered in about 3 minutes. They were sheepishly apologetic about the service--mentioned a couple of times that it was a new spot and they were settling in also it was crowded. And I think they at least comped us on the second Negroni since we only wanted one. We were having fun and took it in stride, but even as the crowd thinned, service remained slow and sparse--great views on a nice day, but overall experience a bit of a red flag for me. read more

Roberta's near Penn Station! I went here in September for a work dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. I honestly thought this was going to be a wayyyy more casual spot than it actually was because well, Penn can be a little shady. We went on a Monday night right after work and headed straight to the rooftop for a few pre-dinner pops at the outdoor bar. The breeze was wonderful. Once our whole party arrived, we headed back inside and sat down. As I had the role of curating the menu for the evening, I went through and picked out everything I thought looked delicious or was hungry for. We started off with the Stracciatella and bread, the prosciutto with melon, and the Little Gem salads. I could've gone without the prosciutto and melon, but the bread with the cheese and the salads were incredible. I would definitely recommend these to anyone and I will definitely order these in the future. For the entrées, we did a mix of pizzas and pastas, no meat dishes. For the pizzas, we got two margaritas, one clam pizza, and one Bee Sting pizza (tomato, mozzarella, soppressata, basil, chili, honey). The clam pizza was my least favorite, which was disappointing because the last time I had a clam pizza it was out of this world... sadly no repeat here. For the pastas, we got a Bucatini Amatriciana (guanciale, tomato and pecorino romano) and the Pappardelle with meat sauce. Once we got these dishes, we knew that we would need to order more food so we got an additional Bee Sting pizza as well as the Corn Agnolotti and the plain pomodoro pasta. Out of the entrées, I will say that my absolute favorites were the Bee Sting pizza, and the Bucatini pasta.
