    Carbonara

As a born and raised Italian from the south, it's hard to find a place in the USA that doesn't make me cringe when they call their recipes "original" or "traditional". I've been coming to Eataly for various reasons throughout the years and finally I was able to try La Pizza La Pasta with some friends a few weeks ago, and I can tell you; I was soooo surprised! The carbonara was so creamy and the guanciale was crisp to perfection. The aperol spritz was perfectly done. The ambiance was cute. The service was great. I don't know what to say!! And the market part of Eataly may be a bit expensive, but the quality is all there. I get my meats from here every week. :) perfect place to find imported goods and snacks, too.

I've never seen the store quite like this one. I feel like I was in Italy. Fresh foods to buy like a grocery store, but then also had a few restaurant opportunities inside. We opted to buy a number of things for the store and just taste them at our table. Everything was imported from Italy and it was a true Italian experience. From the produce to the cheese to the breads and pastries, this place was impressive. The staff are very nice and helpful. If you come in here, plan to stay for about an hour it's that cool of a place.

Eataly is a must stop any destination I go where they have a location, including Italy! This location is everything you want. Plenty of food options, desserts, pantry and food staple shopping, fresh produce, restaurants. Overwhelming in a good way. This visit I went to the pasta cafe restaurant in the back and ordered the classic carbonara. It was savory and filling. I also ordered the arugula and tomato salad for some lighter bites to round out the meal. Salad I would not order again (a bit plain) but served its purpose as a break from the richness of the pasta.

Did I say four slices for $5.50. Perhaps only three!

Despite the hoopla, I suspected this wouldn't be my kind of place. And I was right. I don't know how you differentiate this restaurant from other places to eat within the Eataly space. The menu seemed over-priced with fancy names and descriptions for basic stuff, but we decided to stay, all opting for the $25 lunch. (A la carte costs more.) You get a dish, plus one of three sides. Here's what each of the three of us chose: *** Crema di piselli (pea soup) *** Pizza zucchine & stracciatella (individual pizza that looked and sounded better than what was executed) *** Insalata Di Barbabietola (nothing-with-nothing salad; my choice) Our sides were: ** mediocre arancini described as "crispy riso scotti rice, Granarolo Pecorino Romano, DOP, black pepper." Eh. (What's DOP?!) ** Patata Fritta -- fried "hand-torn" russet potatoes. (A better choice.) Our overly-exuberant server asked what kind of bread we'd like, giving us a choice of two. Would've been nice if she mentioned that for four lousy slices and an unseasoned dish of olive oil we'd be charged $5.50. We assumed -- bad assumption -- it was gratis. Eataly is interesting to wander through. You can buy bread, produce, meat, prepared foods. But if your tastes align with mine, go elsewhere for a sit-down lunch. When I mentioned Eataly to my non-Yelping foodie daughter, she agreed. "I don't particularly like it either," she said.

A friend of mine met me at Eataly: La Pizza and La Pasta last night and it was a nice meal, beautiful decor and vibe. I only ordered spaghetti aglio e oglio ($21) and it was quite good, but not the best I've had.

Stopped by the pasta counter for a quick bite and a glass of wine. The fresh pasta concept and open kitchen make for a fun atmosphere, and the quality of the ingredients stands out.

We went to have dinner at Eataly. We tried the Tuna Tartare and Buttersquash pasta with Lager. The food was delicious and the portion size was sufficient for one. Enjoyed our meal here.

O M G I can't hardly believe how much I enjoyed the panini that I had at Eataly for the first time today. I ordered the FARCITA MORTADELLA and had it warmed, with a regular lemonade. Between the taste and the Italian music playing in the background, I could have sworn I was back in Rome or Florence. It was just a brief stay that created a delicious and lasting moment. I can't wait to go back. Oh, and I came on a Sunday, so the feel was extra special. All of the employees that I interacted with were kind, helpful and gracious. It's a tad overpriced, that's my only criticism.

    Regular cream puff
    Lubie A.

I came to this location again to try some of the mini versions of cream puffs. Four for $10- truly filling. The whipped cream and chocolate whip were delightful. Light. The chocolate chocolate small square mignon, great consistency, melting slowly, delectable. The service at the counter fast. This area of Eataly is order--and-find-your-own-seat self service. The interior is okay, but a bit dark. I sat by the door. It was very crowded. A lot of tourists. Some locals on computers.

What a store! Let me just say it looks smaller than it is. Holy smokes it's like never ending maze. People everywhere, but in a good way. I'd say make sure you have time and patience for this spot. They had various samples of cheese and meat. The smells in this place are fantastic and I wasn't even hungry. I kept my take homes simple-- spicy popcorn and pistachio cookies. I haven't tried the popcorn yet, but thought the cookies were just okay (not much pistachio flavor).

Another great meal here. I think IL Pesce is my favorite of the restaurants in Eataly Flat Iron District. I shared the following with my friend: Ostrich Dozen Pesce - these were a dozen oysters from Maine. They were actually really good. Tasty. We each had a glass of different white wine. Pictures of the bottles are shown. The wine was very smooth not too dry. Insalata di Mare Pesce (Seafood salad) - that was ok. Needed more oomph for our taste buds. Octopus salad - two nice pieces perfectly made and absolutely delicious! The rustic bread was sooo good. Served cold though and wish it was warmer but still tasted good. Dipped in olive oil. I ate two big slices. Wow so good. The tonnarelli ai Gamberi... which is muscles, shrimp and lobster. Very delicious! I don't want to share again. Urbani black truffle pasta. I really needed more, but considering I had so much bread I didn't think it would be a good idea, but it was really good. Desert - tiramisu is something that I never order because I have always found it typical and boring. I opted to forgo dessert and so friend ordered the tiramisu. I was encouraged to try a bite. WOW! It was out of this world. It came with some type of cellophane wrapped around it, and when it was removed, there was all this creamy goodness floating down the sides of it. It was not boring. I was completely hooked. I think I ate most of it with the very delicious cappuccino that was served to me. I would like to go back soon just to have the octopus and the tiramisu. 5 stars for yesterday's meal! Oh and Armando was friendly and serviceable this time. I think he may have been my waiter when I last visited a year ago. PS: if you don't dine here, go and experience the store. It's a big market with everything Italian. Love it here. I think you'LL find it interesting.

There is plenty to see and eat at Eataly! From multiple restaurants on site, to fresh produce, fish and meat there is something for everyone. During this visit, I stopped at their coffee/pastry bar for an espresso martini. For $18, it had fresh espresso and was small but good! The seating area was very crowded as it is on most days with tourists.

    Heily P.

Nice meal with friends. I enjoyed my steak and potatoes it came with. Friends liked their pasta only one said it was a tad salty. I also picked up bread on the way out downstairs. And it was delicious!!

We also got garlic knots which were awesome also! I enjoyed the sitting at the counter experience and having an ice cold coke with my slice. Pizza is ready in 15 minutes, which in my case was less time for me to walk from hotel and pick it up. This location had two storefronts- one for pizza by the slice and the other for the full pie. Full pie line is shorter though still formidable. Line by the slice stretches around the corner. Pizza itself is all right. Toppings are pretty average and crust is chewy as it should be. Little bit too hard on my opinion. As a tourist - it was a must try. However - I wouldn't do it again.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. To start with the good: the arancini were perfectly passable, and the Sicilian pie was enjoyed by all. I would describe it as more of a Detroit style actually, with a super crispy crust and nice textural contrast. On the other hand, we did not enjoy the seasonal vegetable pie or the nepo pie. I generally really like this sort of no-cheese, umami-heavy pizza, but the nepo was so salty! I'm not sure what specific ingredient was missing, but missing it was. My hopes for a recreation of the rossa pie I enjoyed at Farina prior to their closure were dashed. As for the vegetable pie, the vegetables tasted like the frozen veggies one might find in what was once marketed as a "TV dinner". It was a shame, since the sauce of the white pie was otherwise pretty good.

Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The first thing you notice is the main bar wall, with its exposed centuries-old brick that has survived every bit of chaos this city could throw at it. I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!

WOW. WOW. WOW. BOBBY! Our new friend Bobby !!…read more We wanted family style Italian food - we GOT IT. We told this gentleman what we were thinking and he said slow it down folks you've got a lot on your mind let's refine this a bit. He was an EXPERT guide. A true professional. We came here with reservations right after watching &Juliet across the street and the only problem was that I the dishes were so big that I couldn't order more. My wife and I enjoy a good meal but didn't research the size of the portions well. Thankfully our waiter guided us appropriately. We ended up skipping the appetizers and getting a chicken parmigiana and a half order of the rigatoni vodka! It was just enough for us. The chicken parmigiana was just right. It's their star and we can see why. The chicken was breaded well and dressed in the rich sauce and cheese. The breading was not overdone and the chicken was moist and tasty. The complimentary bread was helpful in mopping up the sauce. It was my wife's favorite for the night The rigatoni was my favorite and I regretted only getting the half order. I could have had another portion or two. It was the right mixture of flavor and texture. Next time, I'm taking a group of friends here so we can enjoy more of the dishes together. 10 out of 10 would come here again
