You would be lucky to have JP as your manager. He is a fair person, kind, easy to talk to, and a good judge of people. He understands more than you would think of the people he rents to without letting it on, but this is an advantage because he filters people well when moving in- aka drugs addicts which LA seems to be rife with and they hide it very well. With his stewardship I never feared new tenants, and repairs were done within the necessary time frames. He was reasonable, accommodating, and a genuinely nice guy. He was never too in anyones business, or too in the way, while always being a consistent presence. I noticed a review to this effect: "I would have to agree I have attempted to lease a rental a few times as a Single Mom with a school age child and he is incredibly unresponsive --" I would like to note I am fairly certain I was the tenant rented to. I had inquired one day prior than the two others who came (two other women, and I distinctly remember the name plus the dates align) I was actually the first woman, yes single woman, to apply. Yes, later he found out my boyfriend would be moving in but not when I applied, called, and emailed. I called and made all arrangements. I left a voicemail as a woman and he called me back within 45 minutes. He asked me to wait so that he could get a larger group to show and then two others joined the next day. Both other women who arrived did not put in applications that day. I did so as soon as I left the apartment and got the background check done within 45 minutes. I was not discriminated against, I really think this is a misunderstanding, and a case of "early bird gets the worm." I don't know how the person commenting would even begin to know who was first come first serve, or who got it based on what, or how many showings it had. I know I waited for a group and he had other showings too. I had no issue calling as a single woman and chatting with JP. I would like to note I have really never had a better manager in Los Angeles. I realized how wrong I was until I ran into some crazy unethical buyer who made a damaging inspection report on the property in order to negotiate further. I would have to agree I have attempted to lease a rental a few times as a Single Mom with a school age child and he is incredibly unresponsive until the unit is rented and then he says"oh we already have an application for this rental. Thank you." However, I had left several inquiries weeks prior to the pending application. Looks as though Roc Property Management has a history of discrimination on familial status and should re-familiarize themselves with CA Fair Housing Law. My experience with Mr. Jean-Paul was not positive to say the least. I checked out one of his listings on the edge of Westchester into Inglewood. Inglechester is what we call it over here. I've been a member of the community for the last 16 years. As a single mom of the last 10 years, its been imperative that I stay close to co-parent. Well to get into details about Mr. Jean-Paul, I was very upfront of my situation. Being a stay at home mom for x-amount of years doesn't exactly give you good credit to rent an apartment, as well as job credit either. Anyways, what I found to be disgusting from this so-called man (a father no less) he used his wife's Instagram account to look at my Instagram account. The ONLY way I discovered it was him, was from the wife's Father's Day post-low and behold it was him. His wife is this bougie aesthetician from Studio City or Bev Hills. Now mind you, I told him upfront, my ex was a doctor and MOST of my income was coming from child support as well as my 3 jobs that I had. That's right, you read correctly, 3 jobs. But he still wanted to do his investigating after I was UPFRONT about EVERYTHING even my credit, AND my kid attended the local private school in the neighborhood and I am a Latina single mom, judgy much Mr. Issock? I've waited 1.5 years before writing this post because I did not want any karmic interaction with my current apartment that I got-which is where I wanted to be in the first place Playa del Rey. Five minutes from the beach, and a parking spot included and it was 100$ less than the duplex in IngleChester. The funny thing is I see him in the neighborhood and yeah well to be honest people who aren't minorites are NOT used to renting out to minorities in THIS neighborhood, so all my brown and black people watch out for him! Also as a single mom, being completely honest with him his behavior PROVED to be SHADY, and quite frankly I did NOT feel safe from him looking at my Instagram account like that. My husband & I had a wonderful experience working with Jean-Paul! He was so flexible, helpful and easy-going. We were looking to move from Santa Monica to Westchester and found him in the process. When I walked into the apartment, I knew it was our new home. My husband was at work at the time and was 2 hours away. Jean-Paul was totally okay with letting me stay in the apartment, even start measuring the space out with my shoes while we waited for my husband to arrive. We signed immediately and for a year & a half have LOVED living here! We had a new job opportunity come up, so we are moving down to OC. We had already given our 30-days but found out we needed a few weeks extension to move into our new place down south. ROC is a one stop shop! When my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I were ready to move in together we were so fortunate to find Jean-Paul! They have a very thorough screening process, which at first might seem nerve wracking but man it's so worth it. They are on it! After getting their approval we had a nice conversation about who we are and what we needed. He showed us two places that were exactly what we had in mind! Fast forward a few years, our family is gonna be growing! We're called Jean-Paul and again, he showed us the perfect place and we moved right in! When our plumbing had issues (on a Sunday afternoon, no less) within two hours he had someone out and problem solved. This guy Jean-Paul is very sketchy. His adverts and webpage looks professional, but he for sure is not. When looking at an apartment he listed, I talked to him on phone, in emails, and then in person at the place. Each time I did, he told me completely different things than the last time we talked. On phone said move in did not have to be right away. At the apartment he said they were trying to get somebody in that weekend. Usually my nearly 800 credit score has rental folk falling over themselves to get me in. He seemed unimpressed for some reason. Really, he seemed too busy wheeling and dealing on his phone to focus on a working professional with excellent credit who had an interest in the place. Maybe he was more used to dealing with low rent folk. The place looked shabby and still in the process of cleaning and repairs. I also said I'd prefer not to live next door to 20 year olds and he said "that is not the kind of person we are trying to get in to this building." Not two minutes later the next person who was looking at the place showed up; a 20 year old. Since then I've seen two apartments listed online I was going to check out, then when I saw he was involved I passed. Really don't want to deal with the flim flam man. read more

I agree with the last post. Ask this guy for references. It's a small thing to ask for and any property manager/realtor would be willing to share that. Beware of him. When I dropped off my rent check, I would have to slip it under a door marked with a completely different name. What I think is that he didn't even have his own office. I recently purchased a home with Roc.My agent was John Paul Issock.The sale was handled with complete professional and was very timely.What really stood out was that Mr Issock gave me his personal cell phone number and told me to call him anytime if i needed anything.He helped me find a school for my daughter and a Boyscout troop for my son.Roc and Mr Issock went beyond what a typical agent is expected to do.To quote my wife,Roc and Mr Issock offered a commitment beyond closing.If you need a real estate agent,you will not be disappointed with Roc and Mr Issock. read more

One of the worst property managers we've ever dealt with. He will look you in the face and tell you this is the best place to live and then when you leave he will charge you $400 for cleaning. Renter beware! If I were you, I would ask for references of prior properties he's managed and how much real estate he actually sold in the last 6 months. Ask him for proof. You will be astonished to know that it's just a shell. I've never met anyone in PDR that knows who he is or has ever rented/bought from him. Again, ask him for proof. He is a fake. He likes to advertise on shopping carts and park benches. But again, I've never known anyone to buy a house from him. This guy is a joke. He's had the same listings on his website for months. If you don't believe this--again, just ask for proof. Any property manager or realtor should have references. He manages 8692 Falmouth. If I were you, I would never ever rent there. We were there for 4 1/2 years. If you want to deal with mold, rats, termites and cockroaches-then it's the place for you. Why in the world would he only have 1 review on Yelp if he was so good? Keep looking at this because I can promise you there will be more bad reviews. The guy below was probably just a friend or a relative. i do not recommend working with jean-paul. he lied to my face when i asked directly about what was included in the rent, then the next day when i went to sign the lease he was extremely rude and manipulative about it when i mentioned the discrepancy and wanted it added to the lease. he is not trustworthy and i do not recommend doing business with him. read more

Jean-Paul is extremely untrustworthy and deceiving. This guy should NOT be a realtor. After our initial showing of the apartment, we agreed to take the place and he told us if we paid the application fee and turned them in the next day he would take the listing off his website. We ended up turning in the applications and paying the fee that same night, and he said everything looked good. The next day, we checked his website and he listed that same apartment for $200 more! I called him three times and emailed twice, and no response. I then had my room mate call him from an unknown number and he answered, and said that everything was good to go. A week goes by and we hear nothing, so we call him and it turns out he was accepting other applications the whole time and he never actually ran our credit. So basically he stole $75 from us for application fee's that he didn't even review and strung us along for a week with lies- STAY AWAY. read more
