Came in with my wife on Saturday to grab a beer after hiking in the San Gabriel Mtns. The place is practically empty. No problem. We sit in the middle of the large room at one of the long tables, empty tables all around us, only to have the hostess come up to us and ask us to move to a smaller table. Something about game day, big crowd expected. Only thing is the games don't start for another 4-1/2 hours. Not the way I would treat a paying customer in an otherwise empty joint. We had the waiter approach us Got the order of drinks ! Great Then 10 min later she came by , got the order of appetizer ... So I'm a 35 year old Belgian Beer Salesman! I entered this nice looking open bar! Asked the bartender to suggest me a strong blond (Belgian style ale). To my surprise I got an unexpected answer: sir, blond strong ale does not exist , it's max 4 to 5 % on alcohol! I didn't ask him for a Pilsner, but it was like my question was from out of space! So I asked him for his best Ipa on tap. No worries I thought? Like always the bar tender asked for my ID. I look very young ( ) so no problem, here you go! Gave him my international Belgian ID (in English with a chip and everything). Not good enough! So we left , after some other rude comments! So in conclusion: beautiful place, much of potential, but a bartender who doesn't know a thing about beer or serving to expats who don't want to carry their passports on them!! We are a group of mommies that get together once a month for a "Mommy Night Out." We all live in this area and decided to give this new tavern a try for our recent night out last Thursday. We were also celebrating a birthday that night, and the manager hooked us up! He comped all the appetizers we had there and gave us 2 for 1 drinks special all night. Our server Lucy was very attentive and checked on us throughout the night, while bringing us appetizer after appetizer to ensure we were all fed and happy. So this was me and my fiancés third time eating here. We've had nothing but good experience's until last night. We had a group of 5 and were told to wait in line due to the only table able to seat that many people was located inside, which was fine. We did not have a problem with waiting until we saw a group of four (who got in line after us) hit up the same employee who told us to wait. By the interaction they had, they seemed like they knew each other very well to the point where the employee offered to seat them before us. The employee offered to seat them outside, but the group insisted to get seated inside. The employee immediately found a spot for them inside while our group had to wait another 30-40 minutes. He never asked us if it was okay for them to get seated before us. It was unfair overall. The employee was a Hispanic guy who wears glasses and has tattoos on his legs. Very disappointing. Tried it out for the first time on a Tuesday for their happy hour. Great ambiance with their garage door opening giving the perfect southern feel. (I'm from the south) their calamari was one of the best I've ever had. The only thing not great I could say would be their happy hour is 2 for 1 but their drinks are regular $12 so that's essentially 2 drinks at most bars anyways. My wife and I came here to have lunch on New Year's Eve day prior to the Rose Parade to avoid to chains and boring atmosphere they all have. We sat at the bar with Cindy and Sandra. They were SOOOOO fun and welcoming. We ordered the hot wings, parmesan wings a 10" pepperoni and a10" white pizza. The food was hot, delicious and very flavorful. Terrible service. My husband and I went to watch football here on Sunday. We liked the open wall to the street and all the tvs. The place wasn't too packed, we were able get chairs at the bar behind the bar. The table and chair had sticky beer all over it -- never bothered to clean it after the last people left. We got a new chair and sat down for half a game with no server bothering to come up to us. Finally we just go to the bar to get a beer and they tell us we need a server. So we left for a better bar with better service. I wish I could wipe Monday night at Rocco's from my memory. I don't get many night out to myself and this one was frustrating to say the least. The waitress or manager, I think her name was Jackie, made me feel like she was doing me a favor by taking my order. Lots of attitude, reeked of cigarettes. After waiting 10 minutes for her to acknowledge me, she screwed up the order and I had to wait another 20 minutes for it to be corrected. And while I was waiting she was outside smoking. My order came back luke warm. She never checked back in to see if it was done correctly. It was, thankfully. Anyway, I left my table, to get away from her slapdash service, and brought my burger to the bar where I met bartender, Rob, who was friendly and attentive and helped to calm me down.
