I have left reviews of Rock Bottom before and this is the first time I have left any review to reiterate how good this place is. The woman who works the front basically the face of the business is fantastic. They always greet me with a smile and what I'm ordering is very good. I laugh but she's not wrong. It's always clean and bright. Papa's fish soup is great and served hot which you might take for granted but not nowadays. We each had the Tuesday specials, fish and chips and the homemade salmon burger. Keep up the good work and we'll be back! read more

It's called Rock Bottom to indicate the type of service you're getting. We ate in. My wife ordered a crab cake and French fries and I ordered a broiled scallop plate. The crab cake came out in about 5 minutes but it took another 25 minutes for the fries (!) and the scallops. The fries were actually sitting there in the kitchen window but the the staff was busy completing on line orders. We specifically asked if the crab cake was spicy and we're told no but it was. Probably because of the sauce which we would have eschewed if we were told. Our meal with 2 bottled waters was $52. You have to order at the counter and seat yourself at one of 6 table. For that price you could do a lot better in Plymouth. read more

This restaurant borders between 3* and 4*, but the salmon pushed it into 4. This is not really a restaurant by my definition. I would classify it as a seafood market and take out place. They just have a few tables so you can have the takeout food there. I started with a cup of their Fish Broth Soup. It was fine, but nothing special. Our food took forever to come out. This is puzzling, because there were no other eat in customers and there were only a few pickups while we were there. The staff apologized three different times for taking so long for our food to come out, but never offered an explanation for the delay. I had the salmon, which was a generous portion, well cooked, and tasted good. The french fries were sub par and the coleslaw was unremarkable. My wife had the scallops, which are her favorite seafood. She was not happy with the taste, consistancy, or quantity. I ordered food to go from here for the first time last week. When I ordered the woman told me that the food would be ready in about 15 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant about 20 minutes later and the food was not ready. I paid for my order and waited another 5 to 7 minutes or so before the food was ready. Inside, it feels like a cross between a restaurant and fish monger - with fresh fish, live lobsters, and all the sauces (from malt vinegar to tartar sauce), along with desserts (case was empty when I was there). There's also a good amount of seating. I ordered fish and chips, which happened to be one of the daily specials along with broiled haddock. For the broiled options, you can have french fries or rice I opted for rice and coleslaw. The fish and chips/fried fish came with much larger fish portions, but the portion of broiled fish was plenty. The rice was good, as was the coleslaw. Overall, my meal was good, not overly special. If I'm comparing it to other local restaurants that are similar - I think Wood's seafood in Plymouth is way better (and same concept selling fresh fish, and preparing food). read more

Our $50 lunch was a bit of a disappointment, consisting mostly of French fries, The fryers in the clam roll were tasty, but scant with no tartar sauce or cole slaw provided. I happen to know a thing or two about the seafood industry and asked in advance if there was Tri-polyphosphate in the scallops. I was told they were dry. Whatever they were, thesee scallops had ZERO flavor, and again no tartar sauce or cole slaw to complement the dish. BUT we have lots of fries and ketchup left over! Most of all, very disappointed in the scallops. I have ordered them from here before and they were delicious. Consistency is key in food service. Now I cant help but wonder if they are serving sub-par quality seafood for their daily specials to avoid the hit on their profit margin. read more

Rock Bottom Seafood offers both a seafood market and a seafood shack experience. They have daily specials one for each day of the week except for Mondays. (They are closed on Mondays). The fried food is absolutely delicious! On that day, the seafood platter ($25.95 w/o tax) is an ample portion and easily feeds two people. It is lightly fried and not dry at all. The french fries are more tempura like rather than a typical french fry. It came with shrimp, scallops, clams, and a nice piece of fish. The clam chowder was great as well. The pint feeds two people easily. It was creamy with lots of clams and potatoes. Dining space is relatively clean and updated. Bathrooms are available and parking is sufficient. I was on my way home from a late appt and stopped at a cedarville pharmacy and found this place as I didn't want to cook dinner at that hour. I ordered a salmon burger which happened to be the special of the day. It was delicious. The salmon was flavorful with a tasty sauce and the roll was soft which made it easy to eat. It's a small little restaurant and I'm sure struggling to stay open in the winter. It was 11 degrees out and cold inside so the waitress provided a heater which was very nice. I thought it was very thoughtful. I was the only patron at first but then several others came in and ordered. I heard a gentlemen asking about the ingredients in the chowder and the waitress gave him some to try he then raved about it. I will definitely try them again. read more

The clam chowder was one of the best that we had in the area - thick, creamy, and filled with clams. The fish was just lightly breaded and fried. Fresh and delicious. The new ownership, chef, and staff are wonderful. The new entrees are creative. It would be great to add more "non fried" foods.

While visiting the Cape in August, we thought this was the best place we ate at for fresh seafood. We were staying near Falmouth but took a day trip to Plymouth. The fried clams had more clammy flavor than at the Lobster Trap. My sons both wanted lobsters which are sold live in the seafood market portion of this place. There are a few tables to eat at inside and it is ultra casual with paper plates, etc. There is no nice view, but we thought the food was better here and were super relaxed. read more

Great start to our trip. We got a lobster roll, clam chowder, and fisherman's platter. We enjoyed all the items in the fisherman's platter. I tend to find one kind of fish/seafood to be just okay in other platters but all were fried just right!. I did think it was pricey but wondering if it may be the current state of the world vs what others write about new ownership. Dining is small so not ideal for a big party to dine in. read more

I've written several reviews on Yelp, and they're generally quite positive - I guess I've just been lucky with restaurants. Unfortunately, this one isn't. I spent $308 at Rock Bottom for 6 lobster rolls, 3 orders of fried clams, a quart of cole slaw and some fries. It took 3 calls to get through, but once connected, ordering was uneventful. When I got into the store to pick up the order, there was a lobster tank about 12' by 6' that didn't have any lobsters in it. Uh-Oh! There were small amounts of several varieties of fish and shrimp in the fish case display, and they appeared to be fresh, and there was no smell of anything but fresh fish - good! The order wasn't ready when it was supposed to be, and the lady in the front yelled at the guys in the back about the lobster that was supposed to be ready. The other parts of the order - the clams and the fries - started to come out, and there was about 10 minutes from when she started putting the order together until it was ready. When I got the order home about 8 minutes later, the fries and clams were cooled, the clams were small and not many; then we tried the lobster rolls. The lobster was cooked at least a day before and tasted as though it came out of a refrigerator and had been there for awhile. Not sure what was under it on the roll, but it wasn't something we wanted. The roll was not fresh and fluffy. My wife unfortunately found a hair in her mouth from her bite of one of the lobster rolls. I had been pining for a lobster roll since 2 days before when someone commented about the lobster rolls at the Lobster Hut. I opted for Rock Bottom because it was closer and had the highest Yelp review rating of all the places around. I was really sad that this mess was what I got after looking forward to it for so long. Their high rating on Yelp is left over from when the former owner had it until a year ago. He needs to get back in and help these guys restore it to what it used to be. I feel bad for them. There's a great opportunity there, and they're destroying the legacy they bought. I won't be back. read more

I will give the good points first, as in how great the place looks. It's really quite something. But it kind of really stops there. These are new owners and they have done much to make you really love how it looks, but it was always the food that brought us back. And I have to say the food really was not the same at all. Shrimp and chips had too few shrimp for the high price ($22), and I am sad to say it was a little too greased up and they were a bit on the firm side with only a slight amount of flavor. The fries were also a bit greasy which makes me think they are using a much lower temperature in the fryers than the old owners had since their food was never too greasy nor 'overcooked' like what I had today was. My mother had the fried clam plate. She had much the same opinion as I did. It's a shame this is like this because Rock Bottom has been a constant for a decade for us here.
