I have eaten here for decades. Food is always fresh, excellent fry , not greasy, oily. Scallops fresh as eating out of sea daily . Onions rings nice fry , crunch. Cole slaw perfect creamy moist. Popcorn shrimp tender fresh... Draft beers nice selection, The owners update the restaurant annually to a keep it clean, updated decorative atmosphere. I consider this seafood some of best I ever eat at many New England clams, restaurants from Connecticut to Maine .... I eat regularly when in the area at the Sandwich or Falmouth locations. I stopped at Sam's Seafood after seeing on their website that they're famous for their lobster bisque, but overall the experience was pretty mediocre. The lobster bisque was disappointing and quite bland, especially given the hype. We also ordered a cup of clam chowder and it barely had any clams in it and was also very bland. I ordered a lobster roll and a separate order of onion rings as well. The lobster roll was just okay , the lobster itself was cooked well, but there wasn't a lot of meat for the price, so it didn't feel like a great value. The onion rings were fine but nothing special. The setup is more of a quick-service style: you order at the counter, get a buzzer, sit down, and then go pick up your food when it's ready. It's convenient enough if you're looking for something fast and casual, but between the bland bisque and chowder and the average lobster roll, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again. This place is great with kids. You order at a counter and then find a table, so the whole experience is quicker. We went on the early side, so there wasn't even a line to order. There were plenty of tables, both inside and out, with a decent view of the canal. The food was fine- I had a hot lobster roll and coleslaw and my lobster roll was better than one I had on the Vineyard the weekend before about almost half the price. They have a good deal for the kids menu items (main, side, and fountain drink). They have a cute gift shop and a bar for adult drinks. They also have WiFi (without a password! So easy!) WiFi is great on the Cape since Verizon service is so spotty. We were there on 4th of July, and were psyched to get a quick family friendly meal. The people were super friendly. Oy, this was disappointing over and over again. On the way to a wedding in Cape Cod we stopped at this well rated fish joint. I was happy cause they had fried clams - something no one seems to sell for some bizarre reason in Los Angeles. So I got the clam strips plate. We also had a lobster roll, and a combo plate with fried shrimp and scallops. All I can say is bland, bland, and bland. I mean the lobster roll was okay, but for Massachusetts you expect better. And the fried stuff was flavorless with absolutely zero seasoning. It was like food in an old age home. And as I was thinking this, I looked around and sure enough the two huge rooms were filled with nothing but extremely old and sickly geriatrics. I guess they like the bland food. I was totally unimpressed. I also made the mistake of buying a box of their salt water taffy, which tasted horrible. Really the worst I ever had. 3pm on a Monday, not busy at all, which was very good. It is a sit down restaurant but where you have to order at the counter and they will call you when the food is ready. No need to tip in my honest opinion given the prices of the menu. I would expect a lobster dish to be cheaper since I am in Massachusetts but also it is still a lobster dish...so what can I say? Can choose either hot or cold lobster rolls from the menu. We got hot lobster roll regular for $28.99. Jumbo was $50.99 and not knowing how big it is, we settled for the regular size. Lobster roll... was amazing! Clam chowder was even better!!! Although we got the clam chowder bowl at $8.99, it does not come in a bowl, but rather a taller cup, I would say. But the clam chowder was our absolute favorite! This place was overall above our expectations except for the price. I would have given a five star review if the price was a little bit wallet-friendly. I would expect to spend $40-50 per person whereas Google review suggested as $20-30 per person. The 4 of us shared: - Jumbo lobster roll (hot): we thought the roll would be bigger too but it seemed that they just add additional lobster. It was good and didn't think it needed additional seasoning, and the roll was buttery and toasted although it fell apart after the first bite. We got this with coleslaw, which was good and not with too much mayo. - The baked platter was generally bland. I wouldn't get this again. The fries were decent. - The fried fish platter was much better. The clam strips and scallops were the best, and generally the breading was thin but crispy. These were on par/better than the Sesuit harbor versions as a comparison, especially the clam strips. The haddock was bland and a little mushy. The shrimp was decent. Seafood Sam's has two locations in Cape Cod, one in Falmouth and one in Sandwich. I went to the Seafood Sam's in Sandwich, MA. I first joined the queue at the order counter and took a look at the menu. There is a great selection of seafood. After you order, the staff clip the ticket order to the order wheel and slide it to the kitchen. I got a buzzer and then went to find a table. There are plenty of tables inside and outside. When the buzzer rings, you can go to the pickup counter to get your food. My order was ready in 10 minutes. When I was there, there were also 2 big coach busses in the parking lot, but it didn't feel crowded at all. Seafood Sam's is built for big groups, family-friendly, and quick service restaurant. I ordered Sam's Famous Lobster Roll ($27.99). It is cooked one of two ways: as a Cape Cod-style cold lobster salad with lemon mayonnaise or a hot lobster roll with lobster meat poached in butter. I chose the hot lobster roll. Sandwiches come with a pickle spear and your choice of french fries, rice pilaf, coleslaw or Cape Cod Potato Chips. I chose french fries. The hot lobster roll had a good amount of tender lobster meat in a golden-grilled hot dog roll. I enjoyed this lobster roll a lot. The french fries were really crispy. My husband and I shared a 16oz bowl of the Original Recipe Clam Chowder ($8.99). Though there were a lot of clams and potatoes, I think this was watered down and I definitely had better clam chowder. The fountain drink is $2.95 and has unlimited refills. Seafood Sam's is very close to Cape Cod Canal Visitors Center. A grand version of the quintessential seafood shack! Big enough to accommodate tour buses! Several different rooms inside and a patio to boot. It's wasn't too crowded when we arrived at 1p on a Friday in late May but they were ready for large crowds with a winding line up ala Disney World for ordering. The menu was extensive making a decision difficult but we settled on a fried fish platter for two. Honestly, it could have been for three! It was piled with cod and scallops, some shrimp and lots of fries and delicious onion rings. Grab as many ketchups or tartar sauces as you need from the serve yourself beverage and condiments station. One friend ordered the grilled halibut with hollandaise sauce and a baked potato which he very much enjoyed. Another ordered the kids fish and chips (came with a lollipop!) and that was plenty for her. We had also tried the clam chowder, heavy with bacon and some other unfamiliar flavor. We were not fans. Great location right on the water! Very well run, clean, and the seafood was plentiful. We will definitely go back next time we're on the Cape! read more

Order at the counter and pick up and haul it to the table style with accutrements ready for pumping. Classic Cape Cod fare at REASONABLE prices, HUGE portions, and fried as fried food should be (and other options, but as I said, we needed the "oil change"...). We went for the fried seafood platter for 2, with fried fish (2 HUGE thick filets), butterflied shrimp, big belly clams, and fried scallops. Comes with a great slaw (I'm a slaw picky eater), and enough sides to feed a family of 5. Seriously, its a LOT of food for $45 a dish (well we opted for the $3.00 upcharge for the big belly clams instead of the clam strips). PERFECT service at the bar (what a gem!), great beer selection for the husband and boo hiss on Pepsi world, so I just went with hydration and left the dehydration for my wine stash. We doubled up on the PERFECT onion rings, which leftovers reheated in the air fryer like magic. Take a peek into the kitchen. IMMACULATE. CLEAN OIL. NO SMELL! And for us "washashores", what a treat to visit when the crazed starving post-beach tourists leave. Come hungry, leave with left overs. And thank me in the morning! read more

What a let down. We were very excited to eat here, in fact in this particular location because of the reviews and we drove up all the way from Falmouth. The scallops and butterfly shrimp in the baked dis we ordered were not super fresh. It had that fishy taste and smell that fresh seafood just doesn't have. It was also not well seasoned. I will say that at least the clam chowder and fries were great. That ended up salvaging our late lunch. It also took about 30 mins for us to get our lunch order which I can understand but it would be good if they would give you a heads up about the current wait time when you place an order. Mostly typical New England seafood fare. I wasn't in the mood for a big fried platter so I got the fish tacos instead. They were very disappointing. I probably should have got the fried clams or fish+chips instead but I didn't so my rating is based only on the tacos. The tacos were a culinary chaos of competing flavors. Heaps of shredded cheddar cheese, completely wrong for fried fish (try cojita or queso freso instead). Mango "salsa" (really just mango chunks). Lime juice. Remoulade sauce. The fish was large chunks of batter-fried haddock which, because of the thin tortillas (single layer), made eating a difficult and messy process. The flour tortillas were right "out of the package", unimproved by toasting or sauteeing. The fries were ok but a little "off". Fairly crisp but greasy not in a good way. The coleslaw was the best of the three: a little sweet, not too mayonnaisey, no oversize tough pieces of cabbage. The process is order at the board, get a beeper, pick up at the counter when ready. No table service. Not my preferred way but not unusual and not a reason to dock any stars. But when the receipt shows only suggested tips of 18, 20, and 22%, that's a reason. I'm not self-conscious about adjusting suggested tips when appropriate so I changed it to the appropriate 10%. Then I discovered we're expected to clean up too! A sign explaining how to do this was unnecessarily sanctimonious. ("It's just how we roll!") Scrape the food into the waste bin, put the silverware here, the trash there, and stack the trays there. Not easy scraping the plates into the small hole provided, and I may have lost a fork. I did the best I could, annoyed that I hadn't changed the tip to 0%, completely acceptable for no table service. There was no obvious way to clean the table so I left crumbs and spills. Hopefully somebody comes by to clean once in a while but I didn't see anybody while I was there. My table was clean when I arrived however. Not worth a return. But if it does happen I'd get something different for sure. read more

Great spot for ur seafood needs! The chicken tenders were well crisped and the fries too. We loved all the sauces they offered which was fun. The Mac and cheese was good too. Onion rings were pretty meh. No flavoring in the batter so they were just super plain. Wouldn't recommend Hot Lobster roll was good- $26 was well worth it. However, I would recommend asking for extra butter because it didn't have much on it. It also wasn't that hot.... But maybe that's just a one off. Also the bread completely fell off so... not the best lobster roll but satisfied my craving and was still quite yummy. Place was huge and packed which was charming. Winning combination of great tasting food and good prices, make Seafood Sam's a recommendable place for lunch and dinner. We got there around late lunch, and the large parking lot was about half full, so felt good that it wouldn't be too busy inside (i.e. no wait). There is a fast food type counter with a menu screen above, giving the selection and prices. Once you place and pay for your order, you have the option of taking a pager or using your phone (if you give them your number) to get messaged when your food is ready. It took under 10 minutes, which gave us time to find a place to sit and get ice water (from a ice water glass jug). There is also a self-serve Coke freestyle machine. A huge seafood condiment (cocktail, ketchup, tartar, sweet/sour, BBQ) section section is in the same area, built for speedy throughput. We got the following, all of which was excellent: - bowl of lobster bisque ($7.99): right-on flavor with a large amount of fresh lobster. Superb. - bowl of fish chowder ($7.75): cream based. tastes exactly like NE clam chowder, using large chunks of fish instead of clam - small scallop Plate with fries and cole slaw ($17.99). They use sea scallops, that have been quartered, lightly battered and deep fried. Very tasty, and they give you a generous amount for a small plate. The fries and cole slaw were fine. - one Famous Stuffed Cape Code Quahog Clam. $6.95. Basically bread-based stuffing, supposedly mixed with chopped up Quahog Clam. It is fine as long as you really like bread stuffing. Most of the utensils and plates are the reusable kind, so when you self-bus, need to put everything in the right places. It is a large dining area (both inside and outside) with plenty of elbow room to eat , and I really like the system that has been built around getting the hot food to you, ASAP, so you can start eating it at the right moment of maxium crispiness...and pay mostly for the food (i.e. this is why you have to self-serve and self-bus). Not into fried foods?...they have broiled food as well (though from what I can tell...fried is by far the most popular). read more

I'm a big fan of Seafood Sam's! My friends and I stopped by to grab dinner on our way back from Tree House Brewing Company, which was just a short walk away. Seafood Sam's is a casual spot with counter service and it's located right by the water. It was a Friday night when we visited, so there was a pretty decent line, but they gave us buzzers so we'd know when our food was ready. Although we took our food to go, there was seating available there as well. I ordered the Fried Baby Popcorn Shrimp, which was absolutely delicious! The shrimp and fries were both cooked to perfection. My friend really enjoyed the Sam's Signature Baked Seafood Platter, which she ordered. Cute restaurant across from the Coast Guard station (God bless them for their service). Dining room was charming. They have a small gift shop that I would of love to spend money in there, but I was there for eatin'. We ended up sitting outside under the covered patio. I thought that there was a canal view. Almost if you count mast of boats as a view. As for the food. I ordered for my doctors sake. Baked stuffed haddock. I wanted it stuffed with our seafood not bread crumbs. It was the last day of their 2024 season and posts suggested that they may run out of items, so we decided to make it a late lunch/early dinner takeout order. My daughter and I love New England clam chowder, so we opted for a quart. I ordered a fried seafood platter with a nice piece of haddock, clam strips, 2-3 shrimp and some scallops. The scallops were really good and I used the piece of haddock to make a fish sandwich a couple days later. I opted to substitute the onion rings, which were just the right thickness. The coleslaw was good too. Not the best tartar sauce I've ever had, but it was usable. My daughter opted for the hot buttered lobster roll and french fries. She enjoyed it, but noted lack of any real flavor. When I suggested she salt & pepper it, she said it helped. I think the issue is that restaurants don't let it sit in the butter for a bit before they serve it. All in all, a solid meal and we would return if we were back in the area. On a recent stay in Sandwich Mass I ate Seafood Sam's food a couple of times. Once out of the truck at Treehouse Brewery and a second time at the restaurant. The restaurant features counter ordering. They give you a buzzer and then you pick up your order when it's ready. On my visit I received very friendly and efficient service. My food delivery was prompt and everything was great. I had a lobster roll and fried butterfly shrimp. Both were delicious. I would have preferred to pay a little more and get a larger roll however. If had to give my review a headline it would be, "Great New England Seafood Vibe". There was plenty of seating inside and outside here. Parking was also plentiful and easy. We chased down our entrees with two different local draft brews. Amazing fresh seafood and veggies in an unpretentious atmosphere. You order at the counter and they buzz you when your meals are ready. Everything is cooked to order. They have a full service bar (where you can also get food service if you don't want to order at the counter). If you like fresh seafood this is a great find.
