    Pedro's Favorite breakfast scrambler

I've passed Rock It Grill so many times, as I've lived in Alexandria, VA for 17 years now. Don't ask me why I just recently finally tried them out. I should have a long time ago. My server was so nice. I think she was the bartender and that didn't keep her for being attentive at my table. I really appreciate that because that doesn't happen all the time. I ended up ordering their Pedro's Favorite breakfast scrambler. It came with three eggs scrambled with Spicy Ground Beef, Black Olives, Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, Jalapeños, and Monterey Jack Cheese. It came with Sour Cream, Salsa, and a side of Breakfast Potatoes and Toast. I loved the Tex-Mex flavor of the scrambler...all of the ingredients came together well. I also loved the portion size...I definitely did not leave hungry still. Lol. The Breakfast Potatoes were cooked well, crispy but not overcooked. The Toast was pretty good but the butter they had for it was frozen hard. I'd give this whole breakfast scrambler platter an 8 out of 10. I'd give my overall experience from the customer service and food together a 9 out of 10 (8 for the food, 10 for the customer service). Now, when I pass by Rock It Grill again, I might just stop in more often to try other items on their menu.

This is THE neighborhood bar! Drinks: reasonably priced! Food: rotating specials from the guys in the kitchen, with old bay wings and chicken tenders to soak up the drinks! Staff: love them! They know the regulars and show plenty love to them, even on the busiest nights, while not neglecting tourists and new patrons. And last but not least (probably should have been first), karaoke EVERY NIGHT, 9:30p - 130a with the bar closing totally at 2. EVERY NIGHT. This spot is a King St staple! One of the better karaoke acoustics you will find in the city.

Last night in the DC area and my friends wanted to hit up a karaoke bar. I thought why not, but I'm not singing. After a short Uber ride here we were happy to be in good company. I'm not the biggest karaoke fan, but I do have to say they ran this pretty smoothly and that the people participating were killing it on the mic. I was jamming along with the renditions coming out of the stage area and attempted to focus on the menu in front of me. I was hungry but I also wanted to get a drink or two so that I could wind down after a week's worth of work at a conference. With the late hour we were here the menu was a bit limited, but I was able to order what I knew would hold me over. I went with the chicken tenders and a water to start. After a thought about it I decided why not get a margarita as well. When the food arrived I was impressed. Three big chicken planks that were expertly crusted. Then to serve it with fresh cut fries, you got me. This comes with ketchup and I think it was honey mustard. My margarita was on point and decided to order a second. The drinks were hitting me harder than the places in DC I had visited. I paid and got myself a ride back to the hotel so that I could get ready for my departure the next day.

So I met up with a partner of mine that lives in the area here because it was close to the VRBO lol service was OK but the lady was by herself. Drinks were OK and the food was cool as well. They started the karaoke and it just got way too loud. Anyway, check this place out. I think it gets really busy on the weekends. They have TVs to watch football game so that was good.

The beer prices were what you would expect, about $6 a bottle, but Linda recommended a pitcher as it is a little cheaper.

I went there with one of my friends and we really enjoyed ourselves. It is a nice quiet, hidden speak easy with great vibes. The service was impeccable. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. She gave great suggestions for drinks. We decided on a sour. Which was whisky, lemon, and honey. It was perfectly mixed and served. I also tried the Toki Highball which was excellent. It was rich in flavor and not too strong. If you are really into Whisky King's Ransom needs to be on your list to visit. Unfortunately, we did not order food but the couple next to us ordered the pizza and fries and it looked delicious. The ambiance was great. Its a little upscale with dark lighting. The raised bar and lighting add to the unique experience. This bar is great for date night or just a night out with friends in Alexandria, Va. If you are in the area check it out...you won't be disappointed. Cheers!

Cool backstory huh? Anyhoo, met some friends for drinks here and it was fantastic. The People's Drug has been reimagined, with a general store, lunch counter style but a decidedly modern take on its offerings. Serving chef-driven gourmet sandwiches, locally-sourced bowls, and crafted cocktails, it's the perfect place for all manner of social indulgences. I spent $100 on drinks. I had a Negroni Incognito w/Italian Dill and a couple Old Fashioneds. We didn't order any food (although it looked good going by). Will definitely try some the next time. Of course, the very moment the fireworks were to go off a pouring rain began. Grr. Our aim at Vola's was to get some drinks and dessert sitting outside. We put our name on the waiting list and were seated about 40 minutes later in the section on King St. Service was very good. My friends were drinking hard seltzers and margaritas. I opted for Vola's hot coffee, which just didn't taste very good, even when camouflaged with cream. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate fudge cake, vanilla bean trifle and Audrey's key lime pie. The chocolate fudge cake was very rich and very tasty. But even I, as a chocolate lover, would have preferred that the cake had come with some vanilla ice cream to balance things out. The key lime pie with Chantilly cream was good with a sharp lime flavor. I ordered the Vanilla Bean Trifle. This dessert came with a blackberry compote, Chantilly cream, whipped cream and a crispy thin butterscotch tuile wafer. The flavors in the trifle were great, but because the dessert was served at nearly room temperature, it wasn't very appealing. To be best enjoyed, this dessert should have been chilled.

My friend chose Don Taco because it's one of his favorite spots, and he kept raving about how great the tacos were. We had the entire upstairs area to ourselves, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant was clean, and I loved the mini fans placed throughout the space--perfect if you're feeling a little too warm or have enjoyed a few drinks! As for the service, it was a bit hit-or-miss. The young lady who took our orders was pleasant, but it took quite a while for drinks to come out. There were also several missing items from people's orders, which caused some frustration since those items had been ordered well in advance. Now, onto the food--the real star of the experience! Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals and had great things to say. I ordered a salmon taco, which I actually saved and ate the next day for lunch, and it was still delicious. The queso, however, wasn't a favorite among our group. On the other hand, the chips and salsa were a hit. The mocktails were excellent, and everyone seemed to enjoy their cocktails as well. Despite a few service hiccups, the food, drinks, and atmosphere made for a great experience. I would definitely visit again.
