From the reviews it seems like the sushi might be great but skip the pad Thai. I ordered crab Rangoon which was really good. Kao Soy was okay, but the Pad Thai is by far the worst I've ever had. There was no chicken (literally none) and the noodles were so dry they were completely stuck together. It seemed like it had been sitting in someone fridge for four days. I've been back to Rock Wrap & Roll a half dozen times since my original review and I just have to up the stars from 4 to 5. They're always so friendly here and the menu has new and delicious specials every time we visit. On our last visit, the Black Magic roll was one of the best sushi rolls that I've had. If they have it available, you should order it! We also ordered their spicy scallop dish (Lava Scallops?). Small scallops come served in a fiery mayo-infused sauce and it's pretty tasty. I wouldn't ordinarily include this in my praise but about 15 minutes later they brought out another one with scallops that were wider than quarters and apologized for the small ones that they had served before. This was totally unexpected and unnecessary but it goes to show you that they really care about making your meal memorable. Thank you Rock Wrap! I'll try to keep this one short. The space is really nice. The service is excellent. However, we were the only table in the restaurant that night - so I wouldn't expect much less. The sushi was delish. Fresh, flavorful and lovely presentation. Unfortunately, our calamari starter was way overcooked and extremely tough. The Clay Pot Lover, one of the Chef's Specialties, shrimp, clear noodles and mixed veggies served in a clay pot with special sauce - this dish was laughable. The portion was extremely small for $16. There was absolutely no sauce, much less a special sauce! It was a few veggies, a palm of clear noodles and four small shrimp served in a pot. Not at all worth the $16 price tag. Had sushi from Rock/Wrap & Roll for the first time last night....my daughter and I spent $110 which included tip and delivery. We ordered the medium maki tray with miso soup and another side. For the amount of money spent I REALY was concerned the sushi would be 'hit or miss'. Boy was I surprised!!!!!! Sushi was fresh, wonderfully presented and very tasty. I will order again and don't mind paying the price for great sushi. The only suggestion I have: label the containers when you are including multiple maki rolls. My daughter and I have very different tastebuds; she likes mayo, I can't stand the stuff. We had a maki roll with mayo and had to spend time figuring out which roll lined up with what we ordered. Not only did this restaurant forget one of the items we ordered, they forgot to send completed items. The containers were less than half full and missing ingredients listed on the menu. The chicken was leather, the pot stickers pure grease and when I called to explain they gave me a 15% credit. Despite my efforts to explain the 15% only covered the missing item, they didn't care. Order from Thai Bowl, Noodles in the Pot or anywhere else other than this ripoff. See the picture I'm posting of the Garlic Beef we ordered and how pathetic is looks. I love this place! It is small and cozy with a cute decor. I went here last night with a good friend of mine. I am very picky about where I get sushi from and also because the friend I get sushi with is allergic to fish we were both so excited that they not only serve GOOD veggie sushi but also have a full thai menu. There is plenty of food on the menu for those who do not want sushi and just want thai or japanese food. Another bonus is that they offer both carry-out and delivery! I was so impressed with their service and food that I am ordering from them tonight! Terrible. I have celiac disease and when I asked the waitress if they had any gluten free soy sauce or options I was told yes. She even went back & asked the kitchen twice. I came here with a group of six, and we all got SO sick after eating here. We questioned the sushi when we were eating it because it tasted really fishy and cheap, but even the little we ate was enough to make us all violently ill. I wish my bad experience ended there. The staff was extremely rude and aloof. It took forever to get seated, order and then get our bill. After we all became ill from the sushi, I called back to let them know something was wrong. The employee on the phone brushed me off as if she had better things to do without even apologizing for our experience. Unbelievable. Just had a four person lunch with two children and a teenager. Our hostess was incredibly kind, especially since she had to deal with the two younger boys in our group. She gave a wide variety of options for us, and, wanting to try something new, I had the godzilla maki. Usually, I don't like cream cheese, but this was beyond exceptional! Along with the Godzilla, I had the California maki and two pieces of Ikura, which were both outstanding! For the two boys in our party too, they made a dragon and a snowman out of sauces! These looked amazing and are in the photos. The only downside was that parking was s little hard to find. Also, we were the only people in the restaurant during lunch and the wait was pretty long. However, the exceptional service and outstanding meal easily made up for that! Time flew by and my whole family had lots of fun! Just beware, while the restaurant has an incredible and peaceful atmosphere, it is small. Anyways, highly recommend it and will be coming back! This is truly a jewel in Chicago! read more

I got a Tom Yum soup and Kuay Teaw Reua Noodles. The soup was fine. Have had better and stronger flavors. Never had those noodles before, but they were fine as well. 'Pungent' describes the broth well and definitely isn't a bad thing but can't say that I'm dying to have more of it. Portions were of decent size. Sis and bf had various sushi rolls and while they enjoyed them, they were pretty standard. Service was good. Regularly checked on us and were pretty friendly. I almost asked if she was okay. Then we were greeted by a really friendly server. Except she was very confused the entire time. Sushi wise, we just ordered sashimi a la carte - the cuts of fish were fine, they were fresh but not high quality. The cuts were very small. The sweet shrimp (amaebi) fried heads + nigiri were great though. we had some seaweed salad but i think the dressing was a little too sour for me and my boyfriends taste.
