It may not be health food but it sure is tasty! The burgers are yummy and the fries are plentiful but the best part of this place is the soda selection. There is a whole wall of bottled sodas from classics to crazy. We always try 4 or 6 different ones when we go. I always get the teriyaki chicken sandwich. It is incredibly messy but so good. I usually go through 10 or 12 napkins trying to finish it. My husband has tried many of the burgers and said they are all great. Be warned, the servings are huge so you will leave full. Was once one of my favorite spots. Supportive though the sink hole and a loyal customer for years. Recently it has been disappointing, burgers are slim and frozen and the drink selection has dwindled. My last visit they forgot to bring make my meal and when I asked, they had no record of it. They still charged me $50 for a kids meal, a salad and a single combo though. No apologies just we don't have that on your order. What was I charged so much for then? Came in on 6/19 for lunch. My buddy was hyping this place up, so we came here. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. But, the prices are a little pricey for the size and quality of the food. I ordered the Afterburner burger (single patty) with ghost pepper infused cheese and an order of zucchini. Along with the drink, it came out to just over $14. And to be honest, it wasn't worth it as I was expecting a decent kick from the jalapeños and ghost pepper cheese. The jalapeños were not even close to spicy and the cheese did provide a hint of spice. It also had this rocket sauce (I think that's what it was called) and I'm not sure what it was trying to do. It had no flavor. Then, I saw the patty and it was pretty sad as it looked like one of those frozen patties from those commercials. So the burger I rated as a 1 out of 5 stars. Then we had the fried zucchini and they were pretty good. I think they used corn dog breading and it was tasty. So those I'll rate at 4 out of 5 stars. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't recommend this place for the burgers, but good thing they offer a good variety of other items. They also have a ton of different soda to choose from. Hell! Rocket Burger offers hand made burgers, subs and specialty hot dogs that are exactly what you'd expect form a mom and pop restaurant with dive-vibes. Burgers are real beef patties and offer the expected as well as a few surprises, my personal favorite is the New Yorker which is a hand patty piled high with NY pastrami and coleslaw from scratch. If you want something a bit spicier, go for Santa Fe which comes with fried green chilies just like New Mexico. She loved the flavor, and the preparation, plus when you can have leftovers the next day....perfect. First and second visits recently, as recently as Easter weekend. Our order: one Cali burger (single), one Santa Fe burger (single), two orders of fries, and two fountain drinks. What was good, or great: just about all of it. The burger was cooked diner style: thin to cover a larger bun, well-seasoned, and cooked through. Its accompaniments , the chopped onions, tomatoes, cheese, the deep fried green chile (on the Santa Fe), the avocado (on the California), all really give character to these burgers, so it's not all just about the patty. The fries seem hand-cut, or cut on the premises, and tasted twice fried with a golden finish and a crispy texture - delicious! For me, though, the secret to their success is the rocket sauce. Thinner than a mayonnaise but still creamy, this celery-seasoned masterpiece of a dipping condiment is unlike any sauce I've ever had at a diner or a greasy spoon. Its flavor jumps on your palate and is perfect for the rich fries and burgers. And yes, there are a lot of sodas, INCLUDING some gems from my childhood in merry Chicagoland like Green River and Barq's root beer. What could be better: not very many diet sodas on offer, so I've had to settle for the fountain option, diet RC Cola, a thankfully near-extinct product that has never ranked high on my list of preferred diet or regular sodas. Pro tip: order your burger with a single patty; a double is too much for the bun and is really messy. Bottom Line: this is the best diner/greasy spoon burger in the Valley, and maybe the best fast food combo in the state. If you're around north I-17 you cannot pass this place up. read more

Did we order the wrong burgers? We just were not impressed with Rocket Burger & Subs. Two of us ordered burgers and the other ordered a chicken sandwich. I opted for the Cali burger and the main flavors I could glean were the special sauce, avocado, and lettuce. The thin slab of beef was smothered by the sauce and veggies it had no chance of being savored unless eaten alone. Maybe I needed to make it a double but the single was already large. I think the focus of the burger was put toward the additives and not the patty. At least my friend enjoyed her special crispy garlic chicken sandwich. The fries were our favorite side and the cooler after cooler of a gazillion different types of sodas was impressive. Service was fast and friendly but right now the next visit to Phoenix will not include Rocket Burgers, unless it's for fries and their unique selection of soda. read more

I read Kiamon's review about how the staff all had their masks under their chin, so I decided to go in there and check it out for myself. Upon walking in, I witnessed one employee getting a drink from the soda fountain with the mask under the chin. I browsed their drink selections to give them a chance to correct their mistake. A team member pulled his mask up while coming over to cash me out for the drink, and after he was done, he pulled his mask back down again. Given I'm from out of town, this is not really a good way to make a good first impression, and I left without purchasing any food. read more

Not only was my food to me in 10-15 minutes but it was amazingly delicious, crisp golden fries, the patties had a beautiful charbroiled flavor, the buns we're soft and fresh and their horseradish mayo was out of this world!!! Don't judge a book by its cover! I am always on the quest for a great bacon cheese burger and Rocket fit the bill! It doesn't look like much from the outside. But when you come in you will be amazed. The soda selection is amazing. I could stay there all day trying different root beers! I tried the gyro, bacon cheeseburger, and fries. I was in fat man heaven. Burger was juicy and good bacon too, not the cheap bacon a lot of places use. The gyro had thick lamb. I was very impressed. The service was spot on too. Very quick and answered my questions. When I mentioned I liked root beer they took me over to the giant selection of sodas and told me if I wanted more they had a whole store next door (Pops).
