I recently ordered delivery from Rocking Crab and went for the shrimp, sausage, and eggs combo. Right off the bat, the food quality was solid--everything arrived fresh and cooked just right, which is impressive for delivery. The seasoning was above average and packed a decent punch, but honestly, I felt like it could've been kicked up a notch to really make those flavors pop. Even though I wasn't dining in, the laid-back vibe of the place still came through in the packaging. It's a great option for a casual seafood feast at home. While I enjoyed my meal overall, a little more seasoning would have taken it from good to great. Food was decent and for a boil it was ok. Kinda like hot & juicy on a smaller scale. I would prefer coming here just for the service alone. Ordered from here on a whim because I wanted something atypical but convenient and fast. Rockin crab and their shrimp and mussels surprised me in a very satisfying way. First off I was lucky to find out that I happened to order on their $12 Tuesday shrimp deal. Their mild, original flavor was perfect. The shrimp were HUGE. Lots of flavor and spices and not drenched in butter like some other place. I even took the thick sauce and smothered it on my rice.. the garlic chunks were delicious. Dropped in for lunch and got a couple of lunch specials plus a hot pot. The EZ shrimp was plump and easy to peel and I liked the sauce was which not your typical cajun sauce full of butter. The mussels were big and meaty, and was tasty with the sauce too. Unfortunately the hot pot was a bit of a disappointment. For $19, it barely contained any meat and there was a distinct flavor from the both that was a slightly off-putting. Not sure exactly how to describe it. But in general the broth was on the bland side. This feedback is coming from someone who eats a lot of personal hot pot from Boiling Point and Alleyway. Other than the hot pot, the cajun seafood dishes were good and satisfied my cajun seafood cravings. The owner was nice and the ambiance was cozy and quiet for a weekday lunch. So so excited this place is down the street from me!!... but also dangerous! The place has been open for a couple of months and I finally convinced the hubby to go check it out with me. We were honestly quite impressed on how good it was! Mind you, my husband is not a huge seafood lover & hates having to peel his shrimp (there is an option that comes with the shrimp peeled for a dollar extra). I got the shrimp boil with medium sauce & he got the garlic wings. We went during lunch and the portions for the price is such a great deal! (Must go before 3pm). The medium sauce is not spicy at all (my husband doesn't eat much spice & he was able to eat it just fine) so if you like your food spicy, make sure u go a level higher. The sauce was more on the sweeter side. However, we regretted not getting two shrimp boils instead, it was SO good! The garlic wings were also really good, freshly made, & crunchy. However, it would've been nice to have some sort of dipping sauce to make them wet. The service is on point, 10/10. The guy gave us a few recommendations and checked in with us frequently to ensure we were satisfied with our meals :) We were there on a Tuesday afternoon (after Christmas) and we were the only customers there the entire time. I'm hoping it's just the time and that this place gets more traffic as I'd hate to see it not thrive and/or survive. It was clean and spacious. I am always super weary of trying anything Seafood in a landlocked area such as Las Vegas. That being said I am so delighted we tried this today. We got to go since we are right next to this location. First of all the heat and flavors are amazing. A little tip about their rice. This is not a typical seafood style rice. They are serving the Korean style white sticky rice as their main rice. Just for the seafood boil enthusiasts who are expecting the Zatsrans style of parboiled rice. The quality of the food is amazingly great. It was delicious. The shrimp , the butter Now we got the lunch deals as this is our first time trying it so there is just one side with the meal. We ordered the extra 4 pieces like sausage , potato , egg and corn for $6 each. I loved it. It came naked with no sauce and I think that's smart as an add on meaning when it comes with your meal it is served in the sauce with your seafood. Let's talk about the Heat. If you love spice this is up Your ally. If you're ordering medium thinking "it will just be a bit spicy" you'd be mistaken. I'd say on the tongue of humans who are not huge spice fans a medium will be quite hot for you. The heat has a nice after taste and it will linger a bit but not in a painfully burning way. It's more or a less a reminder of the food you just ate and if anything it entices you to continue to finish the food. Great place I hope this one sticks around everyone who lives in this area should try it. I saw this game day special in my email and for $99 I won't pass that up lol. Update days later got some southern King crab and it tasted old and disgusting. Told the establishment and just don't feel like they will really do anything about it. Here they offer a variety of seafood mixed in with their special Cajun seasoning. And I can tell you it was delicious. The flavors were just right and tasty. Everything was cooked perfectly. My friends and I split the combo #2, which was enough for 3 people. It was full of shrimp, mussels, and had a large snow crab in it. We also shared the beef hotpot which was great tasting. The service was excellent and the staff were all friendly and inviting. The restaurant is quaint and has a good amount of seating if you decide to dine in. Popped in during their opening a few months ago and this is a very happy new addition to our neighborhood! Love Cajun food! We tried the cajun shrimp and cajun pasta and both were fantastic. Portions are large and fitting for the price. We were able to split two meals among our family of four. We even saved the leftover sauce and reused it over more home boiled pasta the next day. Great flavor. It's a small walk up/counter type restaurant. There is some seating inside but it was super busy when we went, so we took our food to-go. Was randomly scrolling thru yelp and came across this new seafood boil + hot pot spot! Upon walking in, we were greeted with smiles just like the yelp reviews mentioned. The cashier/server explained the menu to us thoroughly. My boyfriend and I ordered the head on shrimp added potatoes and garlic bread, snow crab legs, Cajun pasta, 6 pc garlic marinade wings, and sweet potato fries! It was so flavorful and the garlic bread went so well with the sauce. The pasta was cooked perfectly along with the shrimp and sausages that came along with it. I also ordered the Peach Jasmine GT, which was also really good. Almost ordered another one. We didn't try any hot pot this time, but other people were ordering it and it looked pretty good. While the presentation was nice, the flavors didn't quite hit the mark for me, the sauce was a bit too sweet and could have used some citrus and heat to balance it out... Hot is not really hot. So If heat is what you're looking for then try the next step up. Service was underwhelming. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu, which made ordering a bit annoying. It's possible she was new, but some guidance would have helped. Another issue was the overall cleanliness, but it looks like there was about two people on staff so that can also be understood. The description of the Rockin Shrimp sauce is fitting: it's a sweet, savory, Asian Cajun boil. I feel that a lot seafood places have flavors that blur to together; the flavor at Rockin Crab is unique and authentic. The Cajun fries were standard: crunchy texture, hot, and fresh. As an avid spicy eater, I am not a good barometer for measuring heat. I have become numbed so I would say it's nothing crazy spicy but someone else could feel differently. The Service: Upon walking in, I was greeted by the owner, Tiffany. Despite her business, she patiently took the time to walkthrough the menu with me (this was my first visit). I noticed that it was mainly her and one other employee running the entire restaurant at this time. She still found the time to check in with the other guests and myself during our meal. The Ambiance: The restaurant is small, but clean and cozy--like the feeling when you go over to a friend's house for dinner. In full disclosure, I love Hot N Juicy ~ With that knowledge, garner my review how that affects you going forward. My child wanted crabs legs, and I didn't want to make the trek down to Spring Mtn & Decatur, so I asked Google for advisement and with a rating of 4.9 and a solid amount of credible looking reviewers I gave it a shot. It's a quaint little spot better suited for takeout. It appears to be run by a super adorable husband and wife team. She's the cook, and he does the rest. I'd love the idea that he was a star-struck husband who wanted to share his wife's amazing cooking talents with everyone and bought her a restaurant. I don't know if that's true, but it's the idea of that, that had me give 3 stars at least. The food has room for improvement for certain. We ordered the "Rockin Combo" for lazy people (cleaned shrimp). You lose a lot of flavor that way, so don't do it. It's only a good time in theory. They can't afford to lose much flavor. The portion was small, small for what you're paying (again, remember I am a HNJ luff'er), and their "hot" is mild at best. It was more oil and less flavor. But the kicker was my crab legs were still low-key frozen. I didn't see anything that said they didn't use frozen crab legs, so it no big deal, but they were still very cold the higher up we got. Their flavoring was very Hawaiian Island roadside prawn hut but less garlic and more salt. I prefer that flipped. The shrimp plate was okay. I expected more of the veggies than your typical thinly sliced carrot/zucchini. They served it on weird paper plate that will steal all your oil sauce. Again, for the cost, it's a small portion. Garlic bread was an over toasted/warmed bolillo roll. That's it - that's all it was - from the bag to the toaster. After cracking it open, it was stale in less than 5 minutes. I looked forward to swiping that through the flavored oil, but it was gone. I don't know how they messed up the rice. Actually, I do ... It's that texture if rice cooker rice that is left for like 2 days, and someone didn't put the lid all the way on, so it got that weird dry but not dry bite to it. Blah. IYKYK. In closing- I would recommend bigger water cups for the self-serve tap water and exploring the flavoring options. I'll assume the still chilled crab legs were a fluke. I'll be back again to see if it gets better. That's a tough market to compete in, but they've got potential. This side of town needs a spot like this. read more

I was in Las Vegas last weekend for a standard wedding trip. On the Saturday before we needed to drive back home, my family wanted to go to a Las Vegas seafood buffet. I looked online, but it was too late to get a reservation, and besides that, the buffets were all relatively expensive. Instead, I convinced my family to go on a limb and check out the Rockin Crab. While it is not an all-you-can-eat spot, you get a better dining experience than at a buffet because the quality and flavor are so next-level. I ordered the Rockin Combo with a side of garlic bread (the garlic bread is a must, by the way), and my wife got the Taiwanese Hot Pot. The Rockin Combo had LEVELS to it, my guy. I have never sucked a crab leg so clean as I did in this fine-eating establishment. I damn near ate the shell. My wife's hot pot was also on par with the hot pot places where I live in Pasadena, a mecca for Asian American cuisine. My wife loved it, and she is literally from Taiwan, so points for authenticity. As for the ambiance, it is a clean, small restaurant. I liked that they have a sink outside the bathroom for when you need to clean your hands and trust me, buddy, if you are doing it right, you will need that sink. If you are on the fence about eating an overpriced meal on the stripe (and you want to avoid paying 45 $ for parking), please consider coming to the Rockin Crab; it will open your eyes to a whole new world. read more
