It is a little disconcerting when there aren't many choices in an area and they are all "highly rated" but this was a definite win. This place was a hipster style restaurant. Not really a vibe for family and kids. My son is 5 and we have an infant. We didn't feel too welcomed by the crowd or the hostess. I thought maybe it was just me but my wife said the same thing to me. This restaurant is listed as $$ but this is much more like a $$$ if you're a meat eater. All vegan options are under $30 but any meat option is over $30. Drinks are $12 and up which is kinda surprising to me as I live in south florida (party central) and that's pricing there. This place looks like a hole in the wall type place. Has hipster updated art but outdated otherwise. I wasn't expecting the prices. And my son eats very hearty almost carnivore. They didn't have any meat on the kids menu except a junk corn dog which he doesn't like. The pricing bothered me because the vibe didn't give high prices and we wait 30 minutes to be seated and it was already 7:45. So I had to split the ribeye with my son. All the food was very good and the portion sizes were pretty decent as well. So definitely no complaints there. The owner (or maybe manager) went to pretty much every single table sometimes twice and asked how things were. Never came to us. This further made us feel unwelcomed. Between the vibe and the price I would not recommend this place to families with young kids at all. Oh almost forgot our waitress Sadie was the only one who was super sweet to us and smiled the whole night. Ate here today for lunch. My husband and I had to wait about 20 minutes around 2:30pm for a table for two! We would have preferred to be seated outside but there wasn't enough staffing for outdoor seating. The hostess was very upfront with the fact the restaurant is short staffed. I got the lasagna without the green goddess sauce on top. The lasagna was very good and had tons of sauce. Would have loved some bread for all the sauce! We stopped by the Rocking V Cafe for dinner the night we were to hike The Wave so we wanted a good meal beforehand. The place was packed on Saturday night with about an hour wait for the 6 of us. We actually put our name down at the restaurant, drove down the street to check into our hotel, then back to the restaurant. They have a pretty extensive local, Salt Lake City breweries beer list. It's always fun to try lagers or pale ales you can't get at home. Their red and white wine, liquor, and cocktail selections were equally as extensive. For dinner, I opted for the Homer's dream pork chop cooked medium. Pork chops are not always the easiest to cook at home on the grill so whenever I see a pork chop on the menu, I usually order that. This was a nice thick-cut pork chop perfectly seasoned and char grilled. There was a nice char taste with every bite. Most of my friends ordered the Rangeland Ribeye and they all enjoyed it too. We spent a whole day hiking around Kanab and we were starved, I pulled up restaurants this one seemed solid so we went for it. Soo happy we went with this place!! We got the sweet & spicy brussel sprouts, tomatillo lime chicken, and el verde bowl. Everything was wonderful. The el verde bowl was my favorite, the pork was sooo tender and the flavors of the pork, the tomatillo sauce, and the mango slaw was so good all together. A good, clean meal that doesn't make you feel gross and bloated after, perfect post hiking. Harrison was our server and he was so sweet. It wasn't busy when we went, so service was fast. This place is kinda pricey.. but I guess that's what ya get in the tourist area by all the hotels. Worth it though, I'd definitely pay $23 for the el verde bowl again. read more

We were visiting from San Antonio, TX and we tried Rocking V on our 2nd night here. It was delicious hubby and I both had salads and they were delicious and plentiful. Funky little restaurant with a great vibe. Our waitress Este recommended the Cajun trout and it was out of this world. It was served with delicious asparagus and rice. Hands down the best trout my husband and I have ever eaten. After our meal we decided to try the blueberry cheesecake and the almond bread pudding for dessert just because they both sounded wonderful. I am giving this three stars because the waitress was wonderful and the vibe of the place was great. They are also dog friendly on the patio. We had the Pub burger. Which was lacking for a 20$ burger. We asked for medium rare and got a dry well done with no seasoning other than the sauce they put on it and it was still a bland. It was served with their scalloped potatoes which were just good. Maybe I should have asked for salt. I also got a Utah mule which hit the spot. We went for a fun day of exploring and on our way home we visited Rocking V Cafe! What an amazing finish to our day. The menu has many types of food so we were undecided on what to order. Our server recommended several options and we went with her favorite " El Verde Bowl". The pork was amazing, and one of the best pork dishes my wife and I have had. For dessert we had the bread pudding, it's a must if you like amaretto. The service was the best we've experienced so far in Utah. We loved the inside, it's small but has plenty of seating. They said 80% of customers are tourists, many likely coming from Zion, or hiking other trails in area. Don't feel bad if you are a little smelly after your hike. Ha! We were happy to know they were open since most places in this area are closed on Sundays. I let our server (Joy) surprise me with her favorite menu item that she would have if we switched roles. We were very lucky to show up in town and got a reservation around 7:30pm. The place is small and was packed all night, we saw lots of folks getting turned away so call ahead of your trip to reserve. A local classic in Kanab, as far as I know one of the oldest in town. The atmosphere has a funky Western feel and is quite comfy for a couple of a small group. The menu has a great selection of options ranging from Gluten free, Vegetarian, to Vegan. The food itself is home cooked and savory. The Jalepeno Lime Chicken and just the right combo of spice and tang over juicy chicken.
