I really like the food here. It gets a little crowded but the location is great and so is the food.

We had a Great experience at RockN Fish today. Made a reservation for 6 for brunch. 2 more wanted to join our group and called to see if that was possible. They made the change and made me feel like it was not a problem. Half of our party arrived 1/2 hour late. Again the wait staff just wanted to make us feel special. There brunch menu is complete. Everyone totally enjoyed there meal. To our surprise they brought us an ice cream cake and spoons for everyone. I had no idea why? They felt it took to long to bring our food, so it was comped. Very good food, very good service. Also very, very crowded. Not a quiet date type place, more of a group of four or more, having drinks and dinner kind of place. Patio is small but beautiful for sunset dinners, and the location is perfect for going out to other Manhattan Beach bars afterwards. The last time I was in Rock'N Fish I had the cioppino which was fantastic. Surprisingly, as simple as it is, the roasted artichoke and aioli was a perfect appetizer. Our server seemed a bit nervous and new, and didn't know much about the wine list, but made up for it with a friendly and personable attitude. It seemed like his section was small enough to where he didn't seemed rushed, and was conversational and funny. The bar is crazy crowded, we had to wait for our table to open up and wanted a drink. The hostess took my cell phone number and said she would call me when the table was ready if we wanted to "go to another restaurant or bar" for beverage while we waited. What?! I was shocked to hear an employee telling me to go somewhere else for a drink. We went to a nice martini bar that was no where near as crowded next door and got the call fifteen minutes later our table was ready. Very cool of her to do that. Four stars, simply because of how loud and crowded it was, but being crowded is the best kind of problem a restaurant can have! read more

Definately a wonderful dining enviroment. Having a very nice outside covered patio with a cool ocean breeze blowing on a hot day definately made the dining expirience memorable. The food was ok. I was hoping to sample the wonderful selection of oysters everyone was talking about, but was sadly dissappointed to find out they only had FANNY BAY (which are a little more fishy/grimy). So instead we ordered the Coconut Prawn appetizer which was $16.95 for about 3 (yes only 3) medium sized prawns over some asian dressed cole slaw. Flavor wasn't anything to mention, comparable to Outback SteakHouse's Boomerange Shrimp and lightly less sweat than the Coconut Shrimp at the Rainforest Cafe. My main course was the Crab Cakes. I selected CLAM CHOWDER (thought i'd make a seafood combo) and threw in some sweet potato fries. As much as I wanted to love all of it, i didn't. The clam chowder was way too watery and did not have the appropriate consistency of chowder. Clams were absent and replaced with many potato and cellery like fillers. The crab cakes were probably the worst things on the plate. There was way too much breading and it was overfriend (one side of my crab cake were dark brown, bordering black) color. The best thing was probably the simply salted and friend sweet potato fries. (hard to mess these up). Overall, i would say the place itself was nice and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful, a little pricey based on of quality and lack of quantity. The food itself (most important to me) was sadly leaving me dissappointed and a bit hungry. read more

Fantastic food, great wine, good service, and a fun atmosphere at reasonable prices. My husband and I live in the area and think that Rock 'n Fish has set the bar for restaurants in Manhattan Beach. One of our favorite dishes is the Alaskan king crab legs: they're large, pre-cut, and delicious. Try ordering the appetizer instead of the entree; it's the same portion as the dinner but costs less and comes without sides. We also love the seafood jumbalaya (order with linguini), the blackened halibut (ask if it's in season before ordering), and the spicy mac 'n cheese. Even though it's a seafood restaurant, Rock 'n Fish has some of the best burgers in Southern California. Be sure to visit the bartender, David. He's great with wine recommendations. read more

Good location just off the strand in Manhattan Beach. Went on a Friday night around 9pm and the wait for a table of 2 was short (about 17 min). Granted the normal dinner rush was just letting out, staff folks were quick about clearing out sections and getting new customers in the seats. Ambiance wasn't bad on a bustling Friday night. A little on the loud side, but that was to e expected. Real simple selection of dishes. Nothing too fancy or risky; very very safe general cuisine for the not too adventurous individual. The complimentary warm sourdough bread is good, but nothing to write home about. Definitely made from a mix, but I wasn't expecting amazing bakery style bread from a seafood joint in Manhattan Beach. But, it was a nice touch. Dishes were priced a little on the high side. We had the popcorn shrimp and we got probably 20 average size shrimp for $17. A little much. I had 1 1/2 lb king crab legs with sweet potato fries and the spicy mac and cheese. Lil momma had seared ahi tuna with chowder and bacon mash potatoes. Hers was $29 and mine was $39. Spicy mac and cheese was good homemade grade dish, But not even close to being spicy (but, then not spicy for me is really spicy for others). Sweet potato fries were about the same as everywhere else. Chowder was suprisingly good though, bordering exceptional by Los Angeles standards (no match to an authentic NE clam chowder, obviously). Mash potatoes were mash potatoes. The crab legs were healthy, meaty, and delicious. The ahi was the same. Ingredients wise the seafood was typical of other venues in this price range. What makes this play above average is the incredibly quick and efficient wait staff. We were seated promptly, waited on quickly, drinks were always full, and food came out really quick. No stone was left unturned as far as satisfying us in this department. Big thumbs up for that. Overall, a good place to go if you are trying to satisfy a general palate. If you wan't something more adventurous I would look elsewhere. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to get to this place. But, if I wanted to satisfy a general urge for easy seafood Rock N Fish isn't a bad option. read more

I think they are a bit overpriced, but wow, their macadamia crusted mahi mahi w/ mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables made me like eating fish in restaurants. Restaurant was right next to the beach, went there for lunch with coworkers and had a great time. Food was great, i had seared tuna sandwich with salad. The food was a little expensive for lunch but I bet the location has to do with it more than the food. For appetizers we had calamari, it tasted fresh and well cooked. Highly recommend it. Parking wasn't bad but need to walk a little, since it's next to the beach, should be painless. read more

This place is great place to enjoy the sunset with a drink and a good meal. I ordered a dirty martini with bleu cheese stuffed olives... It was perfect. For an appetizer I had the Maui poke; it was a mixture of ahi tuna, shrimp, and avocados with fried won ton chips. It was a great blend and no flavor overpowered the other. My main course was the dungeoness crab po-boy. It too was extremely good and very a great blend of flavors. The topper was watching the sunset in this little southern CA town. My waterglass was consistently topped off. I will go back to this restaurant and recommend it to others. read more

What a surprise find in the middle of Manhattan Beach. We came here on a late afternoon after lunch hour rush and sat down in one of the comfortable booths inside. First thing I noticed was that our waitress was fantastic - friendly, attentive and fast. The food was excellent as well. I ordered the king crab legs (usually a risk in most places) and they were a bountiful preparation and delicious. We enjoyed a selection of appetizers. Overall, Rock'N Fish is an excellent stop for lunch in Manhattan Beach if you are a devotee of seafood despite the questionable choice of name. read more

I went there on labor holiday. It was open and very close to the beach. Just step away from the pier. The server was nice and the food was delicious. We selected this place to dine because they had open tables when we arrived. We are a group of 12 and we're seated at an outside table. We waited over 45 minutes just to have our order taken (after 3 times reminding the waiter/host). I had the cup of gumbo and Caesar salad, the gumbo was a 3 out of 5 and the Caesar salad had wilted lettuce, no flavor, no Parmesan - we waited another 45 minutes for the food. Some arrived cold or Luke warm. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

I had a high expectation when i walked in this place....the place is small and ambience is ok...loud from so many people inside. I thought price is a bit high for the quality of food they serve. Service was good. Basic but good and attentive. We tried the navy grog drink...weak and too sweet. The calamari appetizer was good but greasy and i notice that most of the pieces are the pointy end part of the calamari....i guess they take most if the rings for the more expensive dishes like the pastas and jambalaya or something...feels like im eating left over pieces of calamari....the linguini del mar was just OK. Lacked flavor but portion was ok, garlic cheese bread was good. The ahi tuna salad was nice and fresh and the dressing was delicious, however, again, the ahi tuna was in weird shaped chunks like from left over pieces from the seared ahi tuna main dish that is 10 dollars more expensive. I paid 20 bucks for leftover tuna pieces basically. Kind of disappointed...everywhere i go the tuna is always nicely seared and sliced sashimi style cuts....but this one was just on odd shape chunks....thebonly thing that i really enjoy was the bread and butter lol. The sourdough bread tastes fresh, crunch on the outside and fluffy kn the inside served with salted whipped butter...so good! It was last minute, and I needed to book a private room for a large team meeting dinner. As you probably know, last minute dinner plans for 20+, with a private dining room, in Manhattan Beach, is next to impossible! ROCK'N FISH to my rescue... I also had the Mayberry IPA that is native to El Segundo and while it wasn't my favorite it wasn't bad with the meal. The waitress was extremely friendly.
