Stopped in for lunch on Caesar Chavez Day while on a stop over in Manhattan Beach, and i gotta tell ya... this place is legit! Sat at the bar where David provided exceptional service. Had the Blackened Halibut and my friend had the Ribeye. Both were absolutely amazing. Service was great. Sat outside and watched the sun set over the Pier. Couldn't have asked for a better evening. Only complaint is prices were outrageous and not many choices that were in a decent range. I guess when you have a product that tasty in prime real estate .....you get what you get. We were seated outdoor and could see the entire pier while we enjoyed our food. Everything was great! Food was great! They give bread with butter! Very tasty, a kind of Italian bread. The fish is wonderful! Very well seasoned, and the sweet potato was perfect. I loved the drinks, very refreshing and different. stopped in here for a dinner after a long day out :) the fish was not the only thing rocking cause.. it was quite delicious!! service was also very quick and our serve was very kind, came to check in on us a lot!! the ambiance is also super gorgeous, the interior is very sea/fish themed (favorite part was the swordfish standing above us) calamari - really breaded nicely, you can tell it was super fresh! came with both ketchup and another sauce (blanking the name right now) both were good! definitely recommend squeezing the lemon on top new england chowder - yeah we devoured this. contemplated licking the plate. it had a unexpected sourness to it that made it addicting, very good kind of wish it came with crackers kind of glad it didn't! ora king salmon - actually so delicious, i know other folks talked about it being not very flavorful so we were hesitant but it ended up being extremely flavorful and seasoned well, asparagus had that charcoal flavor i personally adored and potatoes were also good (not like the Best but pretty good) very cohesive dish!! seafood jambalaya - this one was really nicely seasoned, enjoyed how decadent it felt and how much seafood they gave us (thank you for not skimping on us!!), sauce was really nice and really good dish drinks: got the navy grog (cup was looking cute) and the pineapple mockarita, navy grog was a lot stronger than i expected and was not to my personal taste (but i enjoy a sweeter cocktail honestly!) but was very pretty looking and the fruits were a nice touch, pineapple mockarita was really good wish there was less ice but seems like most mock tails i get are 70% ice anyway! definitely recommend if you're in manhattan beach, they have something for everyone (saw people of all ages there having a good time) :D read more

We are in town for a short trip and stumbled across RockNFish on our beach walk. OMG, this place is by far the best I've ever eaten. And we are from Florida and avid travelers. The food taste is on point. Well beyond our expectations. Sean (Mgr) & Lindy (server) were so sweet and very attentive. I recommend this restaurant to anyone's, taste of choice. It is not limited to seafood. However, that is what we had. Mmmm I can't wait to come back! To top it off, they were so observant that they heard it was my husband's birthday and made him a card plus gave him his favorite dessert. Stumbled upon this restaurant and what a great find! I grab moved the shrimp scampi pasta and clam chowder. Even though the clam chowder came in a cup it was a pretty big portion. I tasted the brussels sprouts and mac & cheese as a side and they were really good as well. Carissa was my waitress and she was very nice and friendly. I would go back just to see her again. Walked in to ask a table on outside patio for 2 and a puppy, the hostess and a server that was standing next to her said we are not pet friendly. We went next door. 5 min later the lady with a dog sit down on a patio, the server that was just saying we are not pet friendly takes her order, goes around the dog ( as she was leaving the table). When my husband went back to ask how are they not pet friendly, the server ( that just took the order) and a waitress said - we don't know, we didn't see any dogs on the patio. My husband says to her - "but I saw you, you just took her order and went around the dog" and she said "no I didn't see the dog". Long story short, not only the employees are rude and don't know their own policy of the restaurant they actually work in, but what threw us off the most is that you guys treat people like they are blind idiots. Shame. And by the way, you guys should wipe and disinfect the tables after each customer. FYI read more

I had such high hopes for this place because of the great reviews. I got the blackened fish tacos and they did not have much flavor. Nice classic restaurant near the beach that has outdoor seating, bar seating, main dining area and upstairs seating. A tad smaller inside but it was not wait with no reservations. Servers here are great as well! Calamari as the appetizer was flavorful. I ended up getting the Oregon rockfish with spicy mac and cheese and broccolini. This was my first time trying rockfish and I enjoyed it! It was Cajun seasoned and fully cooked. I did like the mac and cheese, however, was not that spicy at all. I enjoyed the broccolini with the asian flavors and complimented the dish well. Only thing I would prefer is the broccolini to be cooked 1-2 more mins longer. I opted for water only with my meal since I had plenty of drink options in the limousine. I requested more water when my food came out but the server never returned with water and I basically had nothing to drink with my meal...not fun with mashed potatoes. I finally received 1 refill of water towards the end of my meal to help wash it down. Waiter was able to split the bill in 6, I paid my portion which was about $80 (1/2 pounds of crab, mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts and happy hour artichoke. The mashed potatoes were not creamy and the artichoke was not really edible. Crab and Brussels sprouts were perfect) and I still left a $10 tip even though I only received my food and 2 small cups of water (1cup repeatedly requested). We had a group dinner of 10 people who all came from all different parts of California to enjoy a great meal together. We started by ordering the Seafood tower to enjoy a little of everything. Our waitress explained that the oysters came from Mexico which sounded yummy and exciting for all of us who craved some oysters. Luckily only 4 of us ate the oysters out of the 10 of us. I was one of them and I truly regret it. We went there on Friday, January 5th and it's been hell for me. I had to go to Urgent Care because the pain/ stomach cramps have been horrible and almost two weeks later haven't stopped. I threw up for almost three days straight and didn't eat for a week. Even though I am feeling better today, I am still not feeling 100%. I got blood work done and the hospital even tested my stool. It's been some really rough days and nights and we hope no one else got sick. We have reported it to LA County and we know so many people are reporting it too. I have missed almost two weeks of work now and it has been so hard to even be a parent at home, when all I want to do is be in my bathroom. Just a warning for anyone who wants to eat oysters. It can really really hurt you in many different ways. I also was informed that the restaurant manager reached out claiming that their oysters weren't part of the outbreak that's going on in LA County. Instead of taking responsibilities he is trying to sweep this under the rug. We have been super sick and this isn't something we feel should be swept under a rug. read more

This place is located steps from the Manhattan Beach pier. Location is great. The food was good as well. I had the Fish and Chip and a popcorn shrimp appetizer. The shrimp had more batter than shrimp. The cake was massive and will feed up to 3 people. The service was good (it could have been better if the server introduced herself). Brought my mother here for Mother's Day dinner, it was surprisingly not to busy, there was a parking lot around the way you pay the meter or find street parking. The hosts sat us right away but all the tables were way to close to one another and the table was so small I knew it wouldn't even hold the amount of food we were getting ready to order, we asked to be moved inside preferably a booth. About 15 minutes later they moved us over we had enough time to look at the menu and ordered San Francisco Sourdough Bread $4.95, a bowl of New England Clam Chowder $14.95, RockN crab cakes $24.95, Ora King Salmon and I added capers $34.95 and the San Fran Cioppino $49.95 and for dessert the House Specialty Kona Pie $16.95. As soon as we order I look over and see a giant sign that says card only they don't accept cash and I came with my pockets full of cash, places try to say because of Covid but they'll still accept tips in cash so why not payments, we're moving towards a more digitalized generation but please keep the option of paying with both forms it's inconvenient. You touch the cash just like you touch the card there's no reason for this rule. The food came out fairly quickly, the chowder was filled with clam pieces nice and creamy. The sourdough was good but tore the roof of my mouth up, I've had sourdough where it doesn't have to be rough but it's still a good texture. I ate the crab cake so fast I didn't even get a picture of it but the breading was right and that's all that matters, it's hard to find good crab cakes. The king salmon was very boring it says herb butter maybe should've been garlic herb butter maybe Cajun idk, there was just no flavor going on for me but you did get the grill taste, I squeezed lemon Over it and added the capers. This is more of a health conscious dish if you're into that. My moms cioppino was a very huge portion big enough to share, of course she liked it but she's never had a bad cioppino from anywhere and at that price it better be good. However I was still hungry while she had food leftover to take home, you know how satisfied and full you feel after you eat food that's so good you're just stuffed and happy. This restaurant didn't give me that experience, so for our finale we had the Kona Pie it was massive! My mom doesn't usually do desserts and even she started to dig in and we both tried to attack as much of it as we could before I still had to box it to go. This was the best part of dining in for me, and as a pastry chef I'll see if I can recreate something similar on my own time to enjoy at home. The pros would be portions, scenic views, nice area there's other restaurants and shops, parking, and good guest service. The cons for me was the food just wasn't bussin and seafood is expensive, plus the no cash option. I don't see myself returning but I was happy my mother was happy and that I finally got to check this establishment out. read more

I wanted to give a higher review, but nothing we ate here really made me think this restaurant is 4 stars. Perhaps it was an off night for the kitchen, but my best take for Rock'N Fish is that they're just too expensive for the quality (or lack thereof). Our food was missing flavor, the fish crusting tasted stale, and charging for bread seemed unreasonable. We had the Macadamia Crusted Mahi and the Seafood Jambalaya. We actually enjoyed the Jambalaya, but it was under seasoned. I expected a Jambalaya dish to have a little kick; this one had none. The Mahi was the worst. The crusting was bad, and the fish tasted rubbery. The sides were also badly done. The rice was over cooked, and the asparagus was undercooked. Both were just too hard. We ate everything because of the price, but we were left disappointed. I was also pretty surprised that a place that charges this much for entrees actually charges $5 for a little piece of bread. The bread was probably the best thing we were served, so maybe that's why it wasn't free. We had great service and everyone was super friendly, but unfortunately this couldn't redeem our dining experience. I hope you get better food if you check them out! read more

Absolutely loved coming here! I came with co-workers for a unit outing and I was automatically planning my next visit. I had the clam chowder and sourdough bread which was so good. The bread is made in house and is the perfect accompanying side for the clam chowder. I also had the calamari which was lightly seasoned, battered and fried to perfection. We also had the grilled fish tacos and the fish and chips. The grilled fish tacos were good but I wasn't to crazy about the coleslaw topping as it was too runny for my liking, but the flavor was good. We ordered a bottle of champagne, apps, entrees, and as we were enjoying our dessert after two hours, were approached by management and told to wrap it up, cause someone else had a reservation for our table. How exactly can that be, if this isn't even what we reserved? Honestly I wish we had gone elsewhere instead of accepting being treated like second-class citizens. Went here today with my two sisters for lunch. We had a lovely time with Lalo as our server. We were a bit stressed when we arrived due to the parking situation-not good...several lots were closed and street parking was a nightmare. We were late for our reservation (not our style) and they graciously held it for us!!!!! The food was delicious and the service was equally fabulous, so much so that we made a reservation for our next day out in July! The grilled salmon scramble was amazing!!! Sis C had jambalaya minus mushrooms and clams and Sis L had mahi-mahi with asparagus! All equally delicious. Bottomless mimosas were pretty and bubbly, margaritas were strong and tasty but can't recommend the sangria or the salted Carmel martini.
