The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone; Manhattan Beach prices and worth every penny. We had filet mignon skewers, hibachi chicken skewers, Lobster roll, spicy mac n cheese, spinach, Brussels sprouts, calamari, sour dough bread, and a few cocktails. Rock' N Fish never disappoints. This time (and the previous time) we ordered steamed king crab legs with butter (see photo). Absolutely delicious. For some reason the crab legs at RNF are really really good. Of course, we also get some veggies (asparagus) and a side of the spicy mac n cheese. Both are very good. Usually we start with a grilled artichoke. We have also loved the hibachi chicken in the past, the ribs, and steak. Always great. And the managers and servers are very attentive. I went here on a Friday night and there was quite a wait. Luckily, there are tons of places around to grab a drink or you can even walk to the beach while you wait. They take your phone number down anyways to call you. For food, we ordered a dozen oysters and they tasted very good and fresh. For my entree, I ordered the Macadamia Crusted Mahi and enjoyed it a lot. It came with a white wine butter sauce that tasted really good with the rice and fish together. My boyfriend ordered the Seafood Jambalaya without andouille sausage (because it was Friday during lent). I actually enjoyed my boyfriend's dish more than mine and thought it was pretty amazing. I just wish I took a picture of it! For dessert, we ordered their chocolate molten cake with ice cream and that was very good too. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place. So my friends and I came from all over and met at this beautiful restaurant. I was very excited because I hadn't seen my friends in a long time and I LOVE seafood. Being that this was a celebration we ordered the seafood tower and I specifically remember our server telling us the oysters were from Baja Mexico. Everyone buoyed their time and we all went our separate ways. On Sunday I started feeling sick, very quickly. I suddenly became extremely nauseous and dizzy and within a few hours had extreme vomiting. My friends apparently that all had the oysters (4 of us in total) out of a party of 10- so this could have been much worse- we also all experiencing the same symptoms. I had to call out of work on Monday and I don't ever call out, I even continued working when I had COVID. I haven't been good since. My stomach is still queezy and after about 5 days of nausea had a dr appt and she confirmed it was food poisoning. This meal was on 1/5/24 and today is 1/18/24 and I'm still queasy but am better. My main issue is that this restaurant won't even acknowledge the 1.KNOWN OUTBREAK OF CONTAMINATED OYSTERS and are trying to say that the oysters they served us were not from Mexico even though our server told us when we ordered but 2. MAKING US 4 WHO were sick out to feel like liars and again, we aren't saying everyone at the table got sick. Only the 4 people who ate contaminated oysters got sick. Not all 10 of us so I will never come back to this place. Not because they unintentionally served bad oysters but because of the way they are now handling this situation and gaslighting us for their error. Shame on Rock'N Fish. Just for this I will not return and will not recommend this place. Eater beware. read more

After having take-out food only for 12+ months, my family and I were finally able to experience "dining in" outside!!! Most, if not all, the restaurants on Manhattan beach blvd have seating arrangements available outside, but Rock'N Fish definitely followed the "6 ft" regulation to a tea. All the servers had a mask and face shield on and were very amiable. It's also so lovely to eat a meal while having the BEST oceanside view- and I'm not kidding this restaurant is one of the closest ones to the beach. As for the food, it was phenomenal. Maybe I'm biased because it's the first time eating out in FOREVER but I need to rave a little about the side dishes. The spicy mac n' cheese... PHENOMENAL. It got a little spicy after 5-10 bites but it was so worth. Just the right amount of creaminess and I could swear I tasted pepper jack - not the most conventional choice but a great one in this case. Next, the broccolini was roasted to perfection. I never finish my vegetables but I cleaned my entire plate up easily. It was also great having bites of broccolini in between that of mac n' cheese to cut into the cheesiness. As for the main dish, I got the oregon rockfish which was grilled beautifully. It was a bit on the blander side in my opinion, but I think the side dishes were so good that they took away from the hype of the main dish. The food and drinks were good. But this is the first time I've ever seen a charge for BREAD to start the meal. Seriously, it's bread. No respectable, upscale restaurant should charge for a slice of bread. Yes, it's sourdough... big deal. You're charging $40 for an entree, $18 for an appetizer, and $16 for a cocktail, so about $75-$100 per adult - but you can't afford to give each person a slice of bread? LOL. Are you going to start charging for water and ice next? Or maybe a service fee for cleaning the napkin and silverware? That's so embarrassing. My son joked that he had to try the $5 bread. We all laughed when it was served. The bread we received was a "quarter loaf" which was literally smaller than my fist. It was sliced into 4 tiny pieces... one slice was barely bigger than a crouton. (Do you charge per crouton for your salads too?) Since there were 5 of us, we actually needed a SECOND order just so that everyone could get a TINY slice. $10 for bread. But hey, thanks for the free butter! You got hundreds of dollars from us for dinner tonight... but you've lost our business forever. As a local, you can bet I will be telling this story over and over... "The only restaurant in the South Bay that charges for bread." During our family trip to Manhattan Beach, we ate in a bunch of restaurants and this one by far is my favorite. I ordered the Crab Cakes with French Fries, and you could tell they were well made. They aren't the cheap crab cakes you can buy from any regular restaurant. If you take them apart, you can feel the crispiness with a fork and taste the crab in its finest form. For dessert I got the Crème Brulee, just the right amount of sweetness. This is a good restaurant to eat in if you are just looking for a place with nice food. Great location near the water in Manhattan Beach (although parking can be tricky). Waitress was friendly and efficient. We started with the the fried calamari - solid appetizer - perfect amount of breading and fried correctly. I had the Cobb salad. A good Cobb salad with grilled shrimp, although I prefer it with Romaine lettuce. It was big, and had lots of ingredients (bacon, blue cheese, egg, etc) My hubs had the tuna steak - it was good, but too thin - not enough thickness to have a nice pink center. Stellar place! My friend and I came here after walking along the beach cause we wanted to get drinks before dinner. We shared the sourdough bread and popcorn shrimp apps, which was a great combination. There's really nothing like bread and butter to go along with your drink. The shrimp was fantastic too. She got the Hibiscus marg and I got the Navy Grog - both were good but holy moly the Navy Grog was probably one of my favorite drinks I've ever gotten period. I'm a sucker for tropical drinks too. We only waited 15 minutes and she was able to seat us. They have plastic panels to separate the outdoor tables because there isn't enough space to spread them 6 ft apart. If you're looking for a relaxed vibe with great food, this is the spot! We did a walk in at 7:30pm on a Saturday for outdoor seating and only waited 20 mins or so to be sat. Hostesses we're super friendly! We were sat outside and had a nice view of the pier with a heat lamp right next to our table which was great for a chilly night. Food: My partner ordered the Fish and Chips. He said they were mostly crispy and flaky but 2 pieces had soggy bottoms. The fries and dipping sauces we're good as well. I had the Hickory Ribs with spicy Mac and cheese. The ribs were very tender and fell right off the bone. The Mac and cheese was a bit too spicy for my taste, but our waiter gladly swapped it for a regular Mac and cheese. We also had the Molten chocolate lava cake for dessert and it was SO GOOD. The food is good but its really about the ambience and location. Attentive and nice servers, it's always one of the spots we like for brunch or dinner. Just 10 seconds walk to the beach and pier. I did have the choice of just getting their artichoke dip but when my friends ordered the sliders; there was something that told me to try it and I did. If no one told me these were seafood sliders, I would not at all know! It tasted just like chicken (haha I know famous last words).... but scout's honor for a girl that does not like seafood, these sliders had no fishy taste at all. They did seem to smother a lot of chipotle sauce on there and so that may have helped but the coconut crusted mahi really was quite tasty! I know these coconut crusted mahi sliders are a favorite of many and it was not hard to see why. I really enjoyed them despite not being a seafood kinda gal. Great location as it is only steps away from the sandy beach. The Ultimate Burger was good and comes with fries. It also cones with two beef patties and cheese. The Cobb Salad was disappointing. It comes with choice of chicken or shrimp, so I picked the shrimp and blue cheese dressing. But the blue cheese was in the form of crumbled blue cheese bits and not as a dressing. It's just isn't your traditional Cobb salad. I'm sure other items on the menu are worth trying but there are so many restaurants to try out in the area. We initially sat by the patio where we can still see the ocean, but there was a bit of chill in the air and we didn't want our food to get cold right away. I got the lobster roll. Just didn't come with melted butter, so I requested. That's how I want my lobster roll. Hubby's steak was tasty, there's just some chewy part (according to him). Went here on 9-18 at opening and had a good lunch. I've been here and the one at LA Live years ago and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. This trip kind of sucked though. The service ruined this visit. We were there a minute early and they wouldn't seat us until the exact second they open, kind of odd. He enjoyed Fish&Chips and as this dish fanatic, he rated it 7 out of 10. My dish was beautifully served, couldn't wait to eat it. I tried a bite and it was delicious. It was baked so it wasn't deep fried as I don't like deep fried fish. Then another bite and something was wrong. Then another... i pull the breading off and fish was raw uncooked pink inside! Also deep fried eggplant was raw and hard as a rock. I told that to the server and was immediately offered a replacement. What they brought was... either same pieces because it looked the same or another similar looking but clearly put onto a pan and fried to make the fish done fast. Edges were burned and it was soaking oil. Totally different flavor than the first one. They either baked entire batch and underbaked all together and that happened or I don't know. Anyway, I refused it to eat it and they took it from the check which saved them a star, otherwise it would be 2 stars.
