There would be more meat on ha pound of snow crabs for 12.99 at Ralph's. Go to Costco and get 10 pounds for 110$ of actual king crab! Had a good time but embarrassing saying Alaskan king crabs and had the meat of a crawfish that was over cooked. The fries and sourdough were the highlights of the meal, but everything else lacked flavor. It tasted as though little to no seasoning was used. The ceviche was especially bland. Hands down, one of the best seafood restaurants in Manhattan Beach! This place is excellent. Great location right off the beach, great food, great drinks, and great service. We were able to get a reservation, which I definitely recommend doing. The inside is nice. We got to sit in the bar room and really loved the vibe. Our server was so nice and very helpful with all our questions! Had great recommendations on the menu as well. The food was fantastic! Everything was fresh and made perfectly. Our group had a variety of entrees but the two that stuck out were the Barramundi and Classic Lobster Roll. Absolutely recommend both! They have a great selection of sides that you can swap out as well. The drinks were delicious as well. The Navy Grog is their specialty cocktail, and it is so good! Comes in a fun glass as well. What a pleasant discovery. Food was excellent. Great cocktails - shout out to Ian the bartender. A tad pricey but worth it.

We had a great meal of Blackened Halibut and Fish & Chips with a Calamari starter. The chocolate soufflé dessert was delicious too. Our table, which the hostess was nice enough to give us, had an ocean view (for one of us) and there was a nice breeze. Our server, Karina, was very attentive and personable. Very solid restaurant super close to the beach. We booked a reservation for Father's Day. Walked right up here from the main part of the pier after a great day at the beach. Mac n cheese was definitely the star of the show imo. Top notch flavor and perfect texture. For entree had the surf'n turf. Although the lobster was delicious, it wasn't the best steak I've had. I wish I would have tried more of the seafood options that were being recommended. Mashed potatoes were nice and creamy and the asparagus had a good texture. Service was on top of it. They have an outdoor area, lower level and upper level. Parking is scarce in this area so plan accordingly. read more

One of my favorite seafood restaurants to date. Rock'N Fish serves all the classics. The only thing I wish they did differently was how they prepare their lobster roll cold vs hot. My family and I dined here this evening with high expectations, but unfortunately the night took a troubling turn. Within hours of returning home, my wife became severely nauseous and began vomiting--symptoms significant enough that food safety immediately came to mind. While it's impossible to state with certainty what caused the illness, the timing is difficult to ignore. When you choose a restaurant that specializes in seafood, freshness and food handling are non-negotiable. Experiencing this level of sickness after dinner is concerning and not something any guest should have to worry about. What makes this especially disappointing is that Rock'N Fish has built a reputation in the South Bay as a reliable dining destination. Tonight's experience fell far short of that expectation. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, reviews food handling procedures, and reaches out to discuss the situation. At the very least, I want other diners to be aware of our experience and encourage the restaurant to investigate whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger problem. read more

The restaurant itself had a great atmosphere, comfortable seating, and the food was amazing. The flavors were the highlight and the hostess was also very welcoming and pleasant. Unfortunately, our experience was negatively affected by our server. Our server was tall, wore glasses, and had bright pink lipstick. She was decent at first, but as the meal went on her tone became rude and condescending, which made us feel uncomfortable. When we politely asked for refills, she slammed the cups down on the table instead of simply providing service. Small actions like that made the experience feel unwelcoming and did not reflect the quality of the food or the ambiance. It's unfortunate because this restaurant has a lot going for it, the food and atmosphere were great, but the service we received significantly affected our overall experience. read more

The amazing location of this place and its delicious food make it a top tier restaurant. This place is a very short walk from the pier/beach which is ideal. I think they do the classic beach-related food items really well. The fish in the fish and chips had great crispiness on the outside and tender fish in the inside. The clam chowder was tasty and did not have an overpowering creaminess to it. The fish in the blackened oregon rockfish dish had perfect tenderness and paired well with the mashed potatoes. The rock'n scampi was not bad but not as strong as the other dishes described in this review. Overall, great go-to place for seafood when in Manhattan Beach. read more

Decided to try Rock'N Fish after hearing good things about it for years-- Our waitress was super sweet, but the food left much to be desired. The cocktails were fine, nothing to write home about. Took a while to recieve our food despite just ordering a raw plate of oysters and scallops. The oysters had quite a bit of shell shards in them that I had to pick out, and the "mignonette" was just vinegar with a few pieces of super thickly cut green onions in it; Never seen that before. The scallops gave the vibes of pre-bought shells with defrosted frozen scallops laid within; They tasted okay, but certainly not like they were freshly shucked. Can't speak on the cooked food (the "why" for that will be explained in a moment), but nothing we tried was genuinely good. I did have to spit one of my oyster into my napkin as it tasted like it was long dead. Another bummer of our experience: Having lived in MB for years but had never tried Rock'N Fish, we came specifically for happy hour so we could try a variety at a decent price. Upon arrival we were told they weren't doing happy hour that day. When we asked why, we were told that it was because it was the *week* of a holiday. Seriously? On the website and menu, it does indeed state "No happy hour on holidays", but for the whole week before a holiday? That's a bit absurd. At least be clear with that in your policy writing. For context, we came on a Thursday, and 4th of July was that coming Saturday. For this reason, we only got our one round of drinks and the raw plate. Overall, our experience was disappointing; The only redeeming quality was our friendly waitress, who's name I have unfortunately forgotten. She was a peach. The mac and cheese here with the spice was fine, but it seemed like velveeta cheese is used or that is the consistency. No solid cheese added with the mac in addition, and I feel like this would up their game as a casual not so casual food critic. But, if so many others are crazy about it, then it's better to keep it as is. I also had the rockfish. I brought my friend visiting from Hong Kong here since I wanted to take her around the beach area and she's pescetarian. After searching for spots, this place looked the most promising, and it did not disappoint! The fish was cooked perfectly and the sides were packed with great flavors. We both loved it. Plus, the staff was super accommodating when we asked to sit under the warmers (we were definitely cold girlies that day!). Ordered sour dough which was amazing, warm and crunchy Broccoli side. Fish tacos and a diner side salad (comes with it). 2 sauces one of which was a little spicy. If felt the tacos just needed more flavor. A lime slaw topping would have been nice. My friend had a Caesar salad with chicken. Good size portions. Humongous bar inside. Very clean restrooms. The calamari is to die for, coupled with an artichoke for apps, just doesn't get better. The main course they offer marinated steak to blackened halibut to fantastic sides to choose from. I went with the crispy fries. Yummy. You can't leave without a slice of maple stcky toffee pudding. The wine list is amazing without having to go into debt, and the mixed drinks are so balanced and festive. Go...have FUN read more

Came here for the first time to try out their DineLA Restaurant Week special lunch menu. Loved that each reservation at any participating restaurant supports LA wildfire relief. Unfortunately, the food that I tried here was nothing remarkable . The fish tacos lacked a lot of flavor and seasoning. The taco was also very wet and soggy- the tortilla didn't hold up well. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. NO MORE! I was so disappointed. I ordered the artichoke and it was so small and burnt, that it was a joke. Then I ordered an Ahi Salad. It was one of the most overpriced salad with so little on it. It didn't have everything on it that the menu said it had. It had bagged lettuce,, not the fresh lettuce they normally had. The ahi tuna was such a small amount, maybe 2-3 oz. Such a disappointment for being $30. I couldn't let this slide by without warning people how bad it was. This restaurant is not what it used to be. We have been visiting this restaurant for many years and have always loved coming here while walking around Manhattan Beach with our small dog. As usual, I made a reservation and mentioned that we would be bringing our small dog and would like to sit on the patio, as we have done many times before. To my surprise, I received a phone call informing me that dogs are not allowed and that only service animals are permitted. I was shocked. We are regular customers who have visited this restaurant countless times with our dog and have never had any issues. Our dog is small, quiet, and very well-behaved. I asked if the policy had recently changed, but I was told that these rules had always been in place. That response made even less sense because we have been allowed to dine on the patio with our dog many times over the years.This experience was extremely disappointing and felt very rude. Wrapped up our weekend trip with happy hour on the Manhattan Beach Pier. Rock'N Fish had the best happy hour so we made a reservation. When we arrived, a few tables in the patio were occupied but it was otherwise very quiet on a Monday at 4. Our server Jill was right over to take our drink orders. Although we were not in a rush to order food, we were conscious of the end time for HH being 5pm. I started with a Navy Grog rum cocktail, served in a tiki glass. It included crushed ice, which made the straw less than effective. I really enjoyed this tropical cocktail and the first one went down so fast, I had to have a second! Husband ordered a Big Wave beer, not noticing there were only a couple of drafts on special for HH. When I asked if he was sure, our server gave him two chances to switch but he stuck with his original order till the second beer. The IPA and mexican lager on HH, with wine and the rum punch, are about it. It seemed to make our server uncomfortable that we weren't in a hurry. So, eventually we ordered second drinks and snacks. I can't resist a grilled artichoke, and the oak grilled one here is yummy. And the garlic aioli accompaniment was amazing. I asked for a spicy remoulade that I saw on a nearby table's platter, and our server brought me that to try as well. I could eat this dish every week! I also ordered two jumbo prawn cocktail style. My husband ordered the chowder cup (a bowl but not deep) and one more giant shrimp. The shrimp were cold and crisp, steamed then chilled to perfection. The cocktail sauce was appropriately zippy. Paid meter parking was easy and right next the restaurant. I came here with an old friend. The food was okay. Nothing truly special but the food was edible. The sword fish was okay and a little bland. The jambalaya was not with the traditional red sauce, which was ok but also a little bland and we didn't finish it. Service was good.
