My second time here, and it was wonderful. Watching the sunset from their open-air deck made dinner more special. My hostess Tricia was amazing, giving me her very best with a warm and genuine smile. I started with a Moscow Mule and Fried Calamari. The Calamari was fried perfectly with a delicious tartar sauce as a dip. The Moscow Mule with the candied ginger was also good. I ordered the Hot Butter Rum drink, which was as good as it sounds. I asked for extra caramel and that made it perfect. The manager suggested the Pumpkintini, and it is one of my favorites now. For dinner, I went with the Fish and Chips. The fish was fried in a crispy batter and French Fries that were pretty good. Extra Tartar sauce made the dish complete. I don't like leaving bad reviews but unfortunately the oysters will make you sick and even though the location is great, got food poisoning from the oysters, after ER visit due to getting sick with experiencing terrible symptoms, the doctor recommended not having oysters in specific seasons from certain places that is contaminated with vibriosis. This location is still serving guest with oysters.Very disappointed with the experience and the damage it has caused with on going issues due to present bacteria. Will not recommend unfortunately. This location needs to be more responsible to ensure that all these issues are addressed before someone else becomes very ill. read more

Fish dishes very nicely seasoned but all items were a little overcooked. Vegetables delicious. Salads fine. I would happily eat here again but nothing was that great and the better looking items were $50-70 plus but with the taste of the $25-40 items, I am not sure I would trust a splurge here. Man oh man I was worried. I made reservations for lunch for my friends and I and only one of my friends had been here before. She had been here once pre pandemic and she said her food wasn't anything memorable. I read a lot of the reviews and saw a lot of the pictures and everything LOOKED good but I was hesitant. As soon as we walked up they were able to get us seated. We were greeted soon by our patient waitress who walked us through menu and gave us recommendations. We ordered a lot and everything was bomb. We had the grilled artichoke, poke, calamari, cioppino, bbq shrimp, fish tacos, jambalaya pasta, and the bbq burger. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks! The think pink, watermelon margarita and the pear martini (I think) was amazing. For 5 adults our meal was about $350 which was great because we ordered 2 rounds and drinks and appetizers. Sitting outside is stunning. Located in the heart of a vibrant uptown Manhattan beach you have walking distance access to the beach and retail shops/stores. The navy grog cocktail which they heavily pushed in November was something I would definitely not recommend. Everything was beautifully presented, but that drink was not it. The rest of the meal was great. Lots of seafood and steak options. I enjoyed the popcorn shrimp and mahi fish. I wasn't a huge fan of the lobster roll and French fries (I've had better elsewhere so my expectations were high) but the sauces given with the mahi were fantastic. read more

My daughter and I love seafood and had a mom and daughter trip to Cali. We wanted something by the beach and we are so glad that we picked this place. We happen visit while they have the lighting of the pier and it was decked out in Christmas. Super festive and fun, even the employees had Christmas sweaters. It was a lovely, sunny afternoon and we ate outside with the view of the ocean. We enjoyed the blackened halibut & macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi. It was so yummy. What a surprise. I did not expect this place to be so good. Usually places by the beach are going to be mediocre. First off, the moment I walked into this place, it gave off an incredibly homey vibe. We came today during the holiday season and everything is decorated up with lights, christmas tree, and the reefs. The food was exquisite. Their calamari appetizer is delicious, we love the shrimp cocktail as well. I love that they have kids menu as well which includes some healthy options which is rare. Cioppino is my favorite though I recently tried Hawaiian ribeye and it was top notch! I miss young knees. That should be on a t-shirt. And if it were, I would have proudly worn it this evening. 9 gazillion people were all attempting to park for sunset dinner, me included. I found a space on the top floor of a parking structure about a 7 minute walk to the restaurant which by the way, is all downhill. My knees were cussing me up one side and down the other and all the while all I could think about was the walk back up the hill after dinner. It wasn't horrible, but let me reiterate, I miss young knees. My guy was craving cioppino and I had no desire to shop for seafood so the next best option was Rock'N Fish. Resy reservation and just like that we were on our way to sunset dinner. MB was hopping, as was the restaurant. Glad we made reservations. We shared crab cakes and a wedge salad which was enough for 3 people because the salad actually arrived with 3 wedges. Love the spicy remoulade served with the crab cakes. He had cioppino and against my better judgement, I had the shrimp scampi. I was full from salad and crab cakes but I wanted something garlicky- this dish hit the spot even though most of it ended up being leftovers for lunch the next day. Danny our friendly server was cool and that he had to go up and down a flight of stairs to serve us, he obviously has young knees. We ended up watching the sunset, then moving upstairs to get out of the swift breeze...only to watch the staff close the garage door like barrier that kept the wind out. We would have stayed had we known it was only minutes until the door closed. They were out of the warm sourdough, but I was happy about that - because we were beyond full. It's been a number of years since I had an opportunity to eat at Rock'N Fish, once one of my favorite Bay Cities restaurants. Had a chance to revisit last evening for dinner with some business colleagues. Overall, dinner was good. Ordered the Coconut Shrimp and Hawaiian Poke for appetizers followed by my favorite, Kapalua Rib Eye for my entree. My colleagues had the Mahi and blackened Halibut. My guests enjoyed their dishes and were highly complimentary of the food overall. Appetizers were very good, especially the Poke. As for me, I was somewhat disappointed with the Ribeye. The steak was overcooked, I asked for medium rare and it was more medium to medium well. Also, the steak was not as big as I expected, used to be a 24 oz if I remember correctly but was no where near that this time around. Brussels we're exceptional. Our server was very good and no complaints. Giving Rock'N Fish 4 stars because colleagues were very satisfied and my history w/ this restaurant, however, my steak was underwhelming. My coworker and I were looking for a casual venue with outdoor seating and good food and drinks by the beach before flying out of LAX. It was lunch time on a week day. First of all the server was really nice and enthusiastic. It felt nice to eat at an establishment where the server is happy and enjoys the food herself. She recommended a few items such as the blackened salmon sandwich, the fish tacos, the halibut, Bbq shrimp, the calamari, and the sad food jambalaya. Since my coworker and I both live in houston, we bypassed the bbq shrimp and jambalaya dishes. He ordered the blackened salmon sandwich with a Caesar salad instead. I tried a portion of his sandwich and the salmon was so juicy and succulent. Very good flavors and was cooked medium/medium-rare how I like it. Meanwhile I ordered the catch of the day which was pan-roasted sea bass, roasted cauliflower, spinach-bacon purée, citrus, pickled Pearl onion, pomegranate, and crispy herbs. As you can imagine it was a fusion of flavors and of sweet and savory. I really enjoyed my dish as I am a huge lover of fish, esp fish that is on the thicker and flavorful side. The purée was green and savory and was drizzled throughout the dish, making the presentation quite pretty. We also ordered a side of the broccolinni which is a favorite vegetable of mine. It was good! We also both ordered the grapefruit IPA. They had a decent drink with a bigger emphasis on wine and spirits. We both really enjoyed our lunch here. Stopped by Rock'N Fish today and had lunch with my wife. Started with tequilla drinks and appetizers. I had the clam chowder which was good and my wife had the coconut shrimp and both were okay. The soup wasn't as hot as it should be an lacked a bit of bacon which is advertised in the menu description. The coconut shrimp was average with slaw and no marmalade like most places but still okay. The drinks were superb. We also ordered the San Francisco sourdough bread which was fantastic. After a few drinks we ordered entrees. I have the halibut with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach and both were very good. My wife ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos and asked that it be served extra hot. Unfortunately it came out cold. The manager stopped by and corrected the situation by taking the dish back and serving a new plate exactly the way my wife had ordered it. Deb was our server and very bubbly and personable and the manager was quite professional. This is our second time dining at this establishment and they have a very nice menu selection and strive to please although they missed the mark a bit during this visit. After the football game in Sofi stadium, our large group of 13 were looking for a nice place to wat. Some wanted seafood, others wanted steak, and I wanted a place with good drinks and ambiance. This was the first place I called, and at first the wait for such a large group was going to be a long time, but after she spoke to her manager they opened up the upper floor for us which was really nice!! Parking is terrible as it is right by the pier. I'm sure the views would be amazing if it wasn't pitch black. The ambiance is cool. Lots of people talking and having a good time. Food is obviously on the more expensive side. It's pretty obvious. Location, location, location. I ordered their drink navy grog. The rum was warm and inviting. The tropical juices made me feel like I was in Hawaii. I would definitely order and recommend that drink again!! Food wise, I had their half rack of baby back ribs, and the 2 sides I chose with it were cole slaw and their salad. Don't know why I went with 2 vegetable dishes, but oh well. Yes, I get it's a baby back ribs, but man, there was almost no meat on them bones!!! The pigs in which they got the ribs from must also be feeling the pinch of this inflation too. Everybody elses orders were huge portions, except the ribs. What little meat was on it was tender. The sauce was thick and tangy. It was really good, but the amount of food was disappointing. The side salad was actually really good too. I had a bite of someone's French dip sandwhich and it was really good. It was a huge sandwhich to begin with. Meat was tender and soft. The au jus was thin but flaverful. Overall, it's a good sandwich. Oh, and for dessert, we had their lava cake and vanilla ice cream. It was rich and decadent. Fluffy outside, but warm oozing chocalate on the inside. Nicely paired with the ice cream. Great way to end a meal. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was good. Other people commented on how good their plate of food were. Service was attentive and kind. The drink was amazing. Crispy calamari - comes in the right amount not to much and not to little Main dish was Twin Maine Petite Lobster Tails - good tasty lobsters , Mac & cheese crispy burnt on the outside cheesy and spicy in the inside, and comes with 2 giant asparagus. Had a great time celebrating my coworker's birthday at Rock'N Fish :) The sourdough bread and butter was great and I really enjoyed my seafood jambalaya! All the fish and clam included were clearly fresh. Would love to come back and try some of their main fish dishes!
