1st outing of RMA Lady Unit (including ladies from Tenkara Fly Girls)
    Sasha B.

Being a lady that has recently picked up fly fishing I must say fishing shops are a bit intimidating. Having said that Randy and his staff over at RMA are amazing! From my first interaction (picking up my fishing license last fall - cash only for the licenses folks) I was delighted at how friendly, courteous, and approachable the staff are. Of note, I haven't received this type of enthusiasm or respect at other local fishing stores. In the past couple of months I have been fortunate enough to take part in their community events, some which have been created specifically for fisherwomen which is just awesome (many were followed by a yummy BBQ). Wide selection of flys, gear, books, and even women's specific waders and clothing (which I was happy to see). If you are curious about fishing, or are already someone who enjoys fishing I highly recommend going to RMA for all of your fishing needs. Definitely sign-up to receive their newsletter (on their website). There's a book signing by local author/fisherman J. Gierach this Friday and a Gear Swap on May 3rd. ** After reading some of the other reviews it may also be worth mentioning that my understanding is that there has been a change in ownership in the past few years.

Took the fly fishing tour. Good guide and price. Went to the creek which was about ten minutes away. We were provided with all the gear we needed. The guide's name was enzo and he was very knowledgeable about fly fishing. It was $300 for two people for a half day. We caught a bunch of sucker fish in the first spot, since they were crowded together in one spot. The guide spotted them and helped us hook them. In the second spot, there were trout but only one bit for me and got away. My friend hooked in a small trout.

My first fish ever! And Logan helping me scoop it up.

I had heard about Scheels for years but never stepped inside one. A friend of mine from Minnesota…read moreused to drive past the huge Scheels billboards whenever I visited, and for some reason I assumed it was more of a farm supply type place where people bought machinery and work clothes. Because of that completely wrong assumption, I never bothered to go in. Fast forward a few years and after reading the reviews here in Colorado I finally decided I had to see it for myself. Yesterday, March 6th, the weather was miserable. Cold, windy, light snow and rain. Not the kind of day you want to be outside, let alone skiing. So I figured it was the perfect day to finally give Scheels a try. I ended up spending five hours in the store and taking more than 250 photos, and this place absolutely blew my mind. There were sports and equipment sections I didn't even know existed. The store truly has everything you could possibly need and then some. What impressed me most was the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful but didn't hover every five seconds like some stores do, which allowed me to really explore and absorb everything. The shoe selection was outstanding with every kind of running shoe, ski boot, work boot and outdoor footwear you could imagine, and the shoe staff were clearly well trained helping customers. I also spent about 45 minutes in the luggage section, which was surprisingly impressive. It's clearly a curated department run by someone who truly understands travel. I spoke with a luggage specialist who I believe is from Asia and a serious world traveler herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable and immediately understood what I meant when I told her I was tired of hard-sided luggage and wanted something built for an active lifestyle. She introduced me to a beautiful 100-liter Patagonia rolling duffel with durable wheels, strong zippers, and soft-sided construction that can actually handle real travel. These types of bags come with lifetime guarantees on the wheels and zippers, and now I'm officially saving my pennies to buy one. The store itself was alive and buzzing with families, couples, hunters, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The only section that felt a little thin was the women's golf apparel where most of the XS sizes were gone, while the men's golf section was very well stocked. Parking was plentiful and easy. Scheels isn't just a sporting goods store. It's an experience.

Colorado gifts, Denver broncos, nuggets, and avalanche collectibles. Hunting, fishing, guns, ammo, knives, barbecue supplies, a sportsman's dream come true. I was blown away by the customer service, kindness, and kindness professionalism of these owner-operators. I just wish it were a little closer to my house.

Everyone I interacted with was SO nice and helpful and happy to talk about their niche firearms expertise. Today I learned about vintage muzzle loaders, shotguns, hunting rifle calibers, and recoil factors... and nobody was rude or condescending. The first guy I chatted with even helped me with my shooting stance and posture (admittedly terrible due to a disability), and asked each time if he could touch me to help with positioning. It was courteous, very helpful, and felt very respectful. 10000 stars for Lou! I was also very grateful to the rifle/hunting enthusiast who handles the buying (didn't catch his name) and brought so many rifles from storage for me to handle and decide on. I ended up trading a rifle that didn't fit me well for ... two. What can I say, hunting season is coming and I've been slacking! I interacted with at least 6 employees in the Gun Library throughout the interaction. I ended up having them set aside the rifle I wanted to buy, and I trekked home to retrieve the trade in rifle to save a bunch of $$ on taxes - great looking out by the staff! Despite being busy when I returned, they remembered me and had my rifle set aside. I had decided to buy a second one I'd been looking at and they pulled that one and its accessories for me as well. I dropped off my trade for them to look over, went browsing for a while and returned to do paperwork about a half hour later. It took probably another 30-45min to complete the trade in, purchase, and background check forms... yet another reason to buy multiple firearms in a single purchase - huge PITA! Important, of course, but it's time consuming. Cabela's of course has many other departments and I can't speak to those today, but I can very highly recommend the firearms section and the Gun Library in particular - they're one of the largest used firearm dealers in the BassPro family in the country and you can tell that with every interaction. Regarding value, there's so many factors in buying used that it's hard to give a helpful feedback. I am happy with the price of each purchase for their condition; one is new in box and was a good amount off retail. They offer discounts for law enforcement and active military (possibly also veterans?) and have occasional sales.
